The tight integration between vSphere, NSX, and vSAN makes day-to-day operations smoother. One thing I really like is how much of the lifecycle management is automated - updates and patches used to be a bit of a headache, but VCF makes that way easier. It also helped us keep things more consistent across different environments, which was something we struggled with before. Once everything's up and running it just works. **What do you dislike about VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)?** The price can be a little problem. Between the licensing and what you need on the hardware side it adds up fast. It’s not necessarily overpriced, but it’s definitely not budget-friendly either. Also, getting started isn’t exactly PnP especially if your team isn’t already deep into the VMware stack. NSX in particular took some time to wrap our heads around. I wouldn’t recommend it to smaller teams without some VMware experience, but if you’ve got that, it’s a strong option. **What problems is VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) solving and how is that benefiting you?** VCF solves a few big problems we were running into with managing a growing on-prem setup. Before, we had kind of a patchwork of tools and manual processes for handling updates, managing networking, and keeping environments in sync. It worked, but it always felt like we were duct-taping things together. With it a lot of that has been centralized and automated. It takes care of lifecycle management across compute, storage, and networking which just saves us a ton of time and reduces the risk of something going sideways during updates. It’s also helped us get closer to a real hybrid cloud setup, which is something we’d been aiming for. Having a more consistent environment makes it easier to manage workloads and we’re not constantly chasing config drift or trying to figure out which cluster is a few patches behind.
