Out of the box, visual studio(VS) comes packed with features, with the ability to expand those features further. When working in a large scale office environment, VS is the solution most companies would go for. From version control, to language preprocessing, VS is the internets favourite text editor from yesteryear. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Visual Studio? VS isnt exactly the best at CPU management, and as a result, makes using VS alongside other programs a bit of a nightmare. When running a solution locally, VS hogs all CPU and memory, causing smaller apps, such as chrome, to hardly load anything. Now granted, this is all highly determined by the size of the solution your company runs, as well as how well the code is written (i.e. not a slew of errors on every debug). That said, when compared to more "graphics" intensive programs, the fact that VS takes up so much memory when operating task necessary to your work, it can be frustrating having to open VS simply out of "convenience". Recommendations to others considering Visual Studio: If youre looking for a nice, fast, but powerful text editor, try the slimmed down version called "visual Studio Code". It doesnt offer the exact same robustness VS does, primarily because VS code runs on electron, which is webkit based. However, if you are a team of 10+, and dont trust GIT enough with your project version control, then perhaps VS is the program for you. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is Visual Studio solving and how is that benefiting you? It has allowed my company to version control our product page, as well as allowed up to build a product altogether. I don't like having to log into my code editor. I don't like how it takes 10 years to load and multiple gigs to install. It's necessary for my work in c# but I wish it wasn't.
