Well one of the mostly used IDE by the developers. So frequency of usages is quite a lot

Provides most of the features provided by the many IDEs

Its has got many new integration with the IDEs AI like, so ease of implementing the software is quite good.

Lots of new plugins are available every few weeks.

Customer support is good and fast also. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

It is an amazing code editor with support for all the languages used by our team. The latest ai extension like copilot makes the development really fast. It is an amazing code editor with really good features making development and debugging quicker. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The code doesn’t have all the features from visual studio and needs a membership which is expensive but otherwise it’s amazing Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Flexible and Easy to Access, but Basic Tasks Can Feel Cumbersome"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

VS Code is great in that it can be used as a stand alone platform and/or opened from other applications (such as Power Pages) in its web-based version for editing. Given the many options for running a version of VS Code, we tend to use it frequently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

VS code to me isn't as nice as the original Visual Studio. It has a simplified interface, and easily integrates, but some times I find it's a lot more cumbersome to figure out some basic functionality. That could be because I'm so used to Visual Studio and the way it does things versus VS Code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple Yet Powerful: Plugins and Extensions Make It My Top Choice"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I like its simplicity compared with Visual Studio or any of the AI coding forks. Those options still seem to do a better job in some areas, but the sheer number of plugins and extensions really makes this the best tool around for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I honestly don’t have any dislikes about Visual Studio Code. It does everything I need, and I can’t think of anything I want from it that it doesn’t already have. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The Ultimate Free IDE for Multi-Language Development"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Visual Studio Code is the best development environment on the market. It’s free, open source, and supports multiple programming languages, which is essential for my work. Its code completion feature is excellent, and the extension ecosystem is impressive—developers can create their own extensions, and there’s a rich marketplace for downloads. I especially enjoy using Visual Studio Code for C and C++ development because finding a good C++ editor is not easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

One drawback of Visual Studio Code is the absence of built-in visual design tools for desktop or mobile application development. In contrast, Visual Studio provides integrated UI designers and drag-and-drop components for creating rich interfaces. As a result, building desktop Windows applications in VS Code can be challenging and requires more manual effort. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Lightweight, Fast, and Perfect for Any Developer"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Visual Studio Code is fast, lightweight, and extremely customizable. I love how it supports almost every programming language through extensions and integrates smoothly with Git. The IntelliSense, built-in terminal, and debugging tools make development simple and efficient. It’s perfect for web, mobile, and cross-platform projects, and it runs flawlessly on any operating system. Overall, it’s the most flexible code editor I’ve ever used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Although VS Code is excellent, managing too many extensions can sometimes slow it down or cause compatibility issues. It also lacks some advanced features available in full IDEs like Visual Studio, which can be limiting for large enterprise projects. Still, for most development needs, these are minor drawbacks compared to its speed and versatility. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Unmatched Flexibility with a Powerful Extension Ecosystem"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

The extension ecosystem is a big win for me. I can turn it into whatever I need—Python, SQL, PySpark, Docker, Git, or cloud work—without switching IDEs. It adapts to the way I work rather than forcing a workflow on me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

This text editor is not as easy to use as some others. At times, the AI and auto-generate features do not work very well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Lightning-Fast, Versatile Editor with Outstanding Customization"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Visual Studio Code is lightweight, fast, and extremely versatile. The extension ecosystem is outstanding and allows me to customize the editor for different technologies like JavaScript, Python, Java, Apex, and web development. IntelliSense, Git integration, debugging tools, and terminal support significantly improve development productivity. It works smoothly even on large projects and is easy to configure for different workflows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

While Visual Studio Code is powerful, it can become resource-intensive when many extensions are installed. Managing extension conflicts or performance issues sometimes requires manual cleanup. Advanced IDE features like deep refactoring or enterprise-level debugging are not as strong out of the box compared to full IDEs and often rely on extensions.
