Visio is integrated with other Office suite products which is nice. It is user-friendly. It doesn't take long to figure out how to get up and running while also providing advanced users options to add the bells and whistles they want. The variety of standard templates is large and there are lots more custom templates you can download too. **What do you dislike about Visio?** There is a very long learning curve. - It uses the typical Microsoft help function which cannot find things using plain English queries. (Google is MUCH better) - It may be difficult to find the thing you want to do as there are some many functions. It is an expensive license. I believe it's $500/person. Not available for Mac/Linux users Can't publish to certain web applications easily. **What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?** I personally use it more for process flows when designing new solutions for my internal customers. It allows users a way to visually depict how processes flow.Visio has helped me take conversations and brainstorming sessions and demonstrate how they would actually work. So often there is a good intention on trying something new, but it is important to get everyone on the same page. This tool has helped do that. I have also extensively used Visio as a training tool. I will link the diagrams to other portals and tools that we use, so that the workflow document is something of a link aggregator for all the steps involved. I love the variety of elements in their libraries or Visio stencils that are usually extensive and you only need to drag every element or master shape to the drawing and assemble the interconnection network required as a technical solution. It is very easy to implement and manage. You can make professional-looking P&IDs, PFDs, and other related drawings. I can also integrate other software with it to add data related to process conditions and equipment details related to my process. On the other hand, it also has a wide range of drawing types to select, depending upon the discipline of expertise. **What do you dislike about Visio?** It requires a little effort and background knowledge before you start making drawings. You also need to draw some custom shapes as its shapes library is very limited. Online support is very limited and you can not search for shapes online. Visio supports industry standards, a diagram created by other engineer will follow the same rules making it easier to read and modify as needed. **What do you dislike about Visio?** The professional version cost twice as the standard version, I need the support for industry standards so I use the profesional version but even when I'm not the one paying the license still annoys me a little. No MacOSX support so I need a VM to run this in my Macbook. Its interface is similar to PowerPoint by just dragging the elements to create a professional quality diagram. **What do you dislike about Visio?** I think it lacks more elements to create different types of diagrams, it also has many options and it is difficult to find the one I need, and finally I would like to see Visio included in the Microsoft office. **Recommendations to others considering Visio:** If you are looking for an easy and practical tool for creating diagrams, this is the ideal because it has all the support of Microsoft. **What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?** For me, as a programmer, this tool is very important since you can create different programming diagrams, either database or applications. ### 50.
