## Visio Reviews
  ### 1. Good Tool with Integration Limitations

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alberto S. | Chief Information Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Visio?**

Perhaps the integration with other Microsoft tools. Having a basically Microsoft ecosystem, being able to integrate and embed images directly in Visio and having a very smooth experience makes it a good tool. The initial setup of Visio was very simple, because being directly integrable, it's basically about discovering templates that can be useful.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

Well, precisely the integration with other tools, that it is not so interoperable and not so integrable with other non-Microsoft tools versus other similar tools.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Visio to depict in images ideas and concepts that are complex to explain textually.

  ### 2. Stencils Are Great, But It Needs a Lighter Build

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hariprasad S. | Solution Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Visio?**

Stencils only, but I ran into an availability issue related to the vendor specifics.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

It’s heavy, and I really need a lite edition. Sometimes it hangs, which makes it frustrating to use.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

i had a issue only , i wasn't able to get all stencils being a IBM technology specialist

  ### 3. Visio is good only if you hand to try your hands on otherwise there are many flaws in it.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhinav T. | Senior Product Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2024

**What do you like best about Visio?**

Best thing about Visio is its learning curve. It is easy to learn flowchart creation if any is new to creating flowchart. Its learning curve is not steep.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

Is it monotonous and it is not colorful and many important icon/symbols like database symbol and many other are paid, should be included in the free version.

It's user interface looks archaic as compared to Miro which looks new and lively.

There is no option of Artificial Intelligence (AI) where one can give text and on the basis of that AI can suggest which type of flow chart is good.

Also if flow chart in Visio is very big and we try to paste it in word file or in PPT then it becomes blur. So there should be an option pasting in word/ppt, so that even if it is small, it should not be blured.

Also the interface should be like all the options are visible to the one who is using it or atleast there should be some sort of small text or video for every option, so that if any new person is coming then he should know there itseld instead of experimenting with that.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Visio is only solving basic problem of creating flowchart and it has benefitted me in the way that now I know what are the basic features in flowchart. Apart from that it is not solving any thing.

Visio is only nice (not good) for those who are very new to flowcharting or diagramming as it has limited option. When I starting using it in my first company which was IBM, I faced so many problems.

1) I have search for various symbol which is required for creating flow chart as they have mentioned it below (lower left of the screen).

2) I was not able to change the color of the blocks as it was all blue by default. There was a need for showing different process in the same flow chart, so for that I was required to show it with different color which was absent in Visio.

3) There was no collaboration option where many people can edit the diagram at once and all can see who all there on the sheet at the same time.

Now we have shifted from Visio to Miro because of the problems we faced in Visio.

  ### 4. Powerful tool but complex to use

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lan Y. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Visio?**

You can draw pretty much any diagram you can think of in Visio

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

Slow, lack of auto-save, not-so-user-friendly UI

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It does a good job on making diagrams, certainly heaps better than using any painting/drawing tool, from PowerPoint or from Word.

  ### 5. Used Visio for close to 20 years

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Visio?**

Robust, detailed, flexible diagramming tool. Ideal for building out large documentation projects that require integrated diagrams and flowcharts. I liked the level of control available.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

The lack of cloud features was really the only reason I ended up moving off of Visio. It might be good to include a web native version with pixels as an option for measurement.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As an information architect, I used Visio for site maps, architectures, and wireframing as well as process documentation and diagramming. I also use it for floorplans and architectural plans for home renos and other projects.

  ### 6. Missing Innovative Features

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Visio?**

I liked the ability to easily make an org chart.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

I didn't like that a link wasn't available to share with colleagues to view the org chart easily and quickly.

**Recommendations to others considering Visio:**

Visio is great for users who want simplicity. It's software with very few bells and whistles and makes getting a job done quickly.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Visio was easier to use than word to create an org chart.

  ### 7. ICT SOLUTION DELIVERY OFFICER

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert P. | ICT Solution Delivery Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Visio?**

Microsoft product, so similar UI to other Office products

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

generates generic-looking results without additional effort

**Recommendations to others considering Visio:**

Professional product as expected from Microsoft

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

mind mapping, workflow diagrams

  ### 8. Helpful and full of features

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Visio?**

Really one of the best software in order to create diagramma for presentations and meetings.
I really like the way it is so simply to use...and I can make diagrams in less than an hour than can be showed or printed in presentations.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

Nothing in particular to say. Maybe one of the most things that I dislike is the retail price considering that you can find a lot of similar software that even if are not the same...you can use it without any problem.

**Recommendations to others considering Visio:**

Simply

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quickly done a lot of Diagram

  ### 9. Acceptable, needs work

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Visio?**

I like the option to turn on a grid view (invisible) on the document. It was also nice to have lots of shapes to choose from.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

I think Visio does not help you that much. Besides the prebuilt templates, everything I did in Visio was easily done in Word or PowerPoint. It didn’t offer suggestions or aid me at all in design.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I create relationship charts with Visio to show the flow of information between companies and different types of organizations that we work with.

  ### 10. Myview

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hanie M. | Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Visio?**

Easy to understand and work with, the new updated version is really cool

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

Not enough covering all the needs even though it would be nicer to become more complicated but Ia like it

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Diagram organization, easy to work with

  ### 11. Easy to use but not the best for visualization

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Staffing and Recruiting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Visio?**

I could learn the basics easily and create something to communicate w designers

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

Sometimes graphics and connections are not easy to undo

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me communicate with designers and business stakeholders

  ### 12. Somewhat annoying since Microsoft acquired VISIO

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eli M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2018

**What do you like best about Visio?**

VIsio is a very good tool for 2 dimensional illustrations, flow diagrams, logic illustrations, simple schematic type drawings and more. It is generally quick and easy to use. Despite the drawback of a Microsoft owned product, Visio is probably the best tool of its kind today.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

Since Microsoft acquired Visio, they have made it much more sluggish and heavy, and made a number of annoying features the default behavior, such as automatic snap to path and snap to object, and connectors that try to predict what you want to do, instead of simply working in the way you would like them to...Microsoft took a great tool that was easy to use, and made it unnecessarily complicated and heavy.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

product operational logic diagrams, networking diagrams, process flow diagrams

  ### 13. Decent program, prefer using AutoCAD

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katrina V. | Drafting Design and Service Coordinator, Civil Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Visio?**

Use this program for doing basic electrical schematics. Worked decently well and was easy to learn.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

I prefer using AutoCAD due to it having far more options.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is quick and easy for new people to learn. Much faster learning curve than AutoCAD

  ### 14. Effective and Reliable

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kaitlyn S. | Digital Web and Marketing Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Visio?**

I LOVE that it works well with Excel, makes my life so much easier!

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

Visio is in dire need of a UI overhaul. The most recent edition was released in 2016 and it already looks quite dated.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We mainly use Visio for site mapping, but I also use it personally to organize my projects

  ### 15. Visio

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Visio?**

Visio is like a whiteboard on computer that can be used to put an idea into a design. Its easy to use and draw architecture diagrams after few uses, used for presentations to co-workers and management.Creating process flow is very quick.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

As a beginner had to spend lot of time with shapes, arrows, font size, etc. Needs sometime to master the use of diagrams.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Used for project documentation and presentations.

  ### 16. MyVisio Review

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Visio?**

It is nest tool to be used for creating graphics or flowchart or to document any business process.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

It is not included in MS Office. If you're purchasing for MS Office, then it should be included in MS Office. Currently you have to pay additional money for Visio

**Recommendations to others considering Visio:**

You can create similar flowchart in MS PowerPoint. In my opinion, it is not worth to spend additional money for it, but if you have Visio it makes your life easier create a flowcharts.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of Creating flowchart and diagramming.

  ### 17. Not as good as you expect it to be

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Electronics | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Visio?**

The infinite yet standard sized canvases are a plus.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

The symbol creation is limited and restricting. So, it affects when I want to use custom shapes.

**Recommendations to others considering Visio:**

Try to use standard sizes and symbols. Might help you better than custom canvases.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps create custom flow charts for organizations. Easy for everyone to use and share the PDFs.

To draw infrastructure topology of the servers that we have at my client place

  ### 20. Talía Visio Review

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Visio?**

Use with other Microsoft applications, I also enjoy charts tempkates, I have used this application to create employee hierarchical trees which are very straightforward and easy to interpret. There are many different visual and design settings I can choose from which allow my charts to be highly customized

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

Difficulty designing complex hierarchy, also cannot copy and paste chart from Visio to use elsewhere

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Make hierarchical charts for HR purposes

  ### 21. Visio

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

It has so many functions that it can seem pretty complex as a beginner.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Diagram mapping and maleability

  ### 22. Limited experience with limited intuitive use

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Visio?**

There are parts that are super intuitive, but it's really only the basic shapes.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

I have tried to create more accurate floor plans for my events role and it was really difficult to add doors and curved walls.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We tried to create accurate floor plans to use in the workspace. It helped with very simple diagrams, but didn't help with those who take the document very seriously.

  ### 23. Visio

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam C. | Higher Apprentice, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2018

**What do you like best about Visio?**

Complex flow chart mapping , easy to use ,

Support for transferring data to word and other office products

  ### 24. Steep learning curve

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Visio?**

Visio gives the user flexibility and has the potential do so many things. I used it as I worked on a LEAN Six Sigma project. It has everything you need to map complex processes.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

The potential Visio has to do so many things can also be overwhelming. There is a steep learning curve to figure out how to use it properly. it appears to be simple as dragging and dropping, but I had difficulty get things to line up properly and look the way I wanted. Ultimately, I found that I spent more time playing in the software than I thought the end product would be worth.

**Recommendations to others considering Visio:**

If you are experienced and familiar with diagramming software and have complex projects, Visio may work well for you. If you are relatively unexperienced or only need something basic, Visio will likely be overwhelming.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used Visio in a LEAN Six Sigma project to map out procedure and training development processes. It helped provide stakeholders a visual representation of the process. However, at the end of the project, I felt that a simpler flowchart software would have provide the same amount of benefit.

  ### 25. Great inexpensive tool

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Visio?**

This is a great tool and much cheaper than others. Very little knowledge needed to start up with it.

Some minor irritating issues exist like keeping connectors in place.
Not recomended for schematics

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Test fixture design

  ### 26. Not for people who get motion sick

The animation can make those prone to motion sickness feel ill.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Process improvement mapping!

  ### 27. Review

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2018

**What do you like best about Visio?**

Relatively easy to use, the program was similarly easy to use like other Microsoft products

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

Lacks explanation at some points. Although it's user friendly there's never too much direction

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organizational charting

  ### 28. Review of Application

  ### 29. Clunky but effective

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2018

**What do you like best about Visio?**

You can draw almost any simple diagram and create visuals for presentations.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

It feels very clunky and the automated connectors have a mind of their own.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It can draw almost anything 2D. Shape formatting tools can make it useful for layouts as well.

  ### 30. Great for communicating processes and job aids

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Utilities | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Visio?**

Great interface, clear, and easy to pick up. Understood the software to a decent extent with no tutorials, but probably could have used some.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

Some aspects of the software were unclear, and I wish there were a way to make creations more graphically vibrant and appealing? Maybe some default settings for people looking to make their figures and stuff prettier, kinda like filters i guess?

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Developing a job aid/process map to guide other employees. Great for communicating certain processes.

  ### 31. Visio review for e-commerce

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Defense & Space | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Visio?**

The best point of this software is the tgreat compatibility with other products of Microsoft. It's easy to migrate the jobs to any other application like Word, Power Point...

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

The price of the licence if I have to say anithing.

**Recommendations to others considering Visio:**

It's recommendable to do scheme recurrently. For something occasional it is difficult to implement it in all users of the company and ends up resorting to some software for free use.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Schemes to describe project stages and code architecture

  ### 33. Student Experience

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vaibhav M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

Make it easy to use across a genral spectrum

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

General for academic teaching

  ### 34. Easy/Intermediate Platform for Diagraming

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2017

**What do you like best about Visio?**

I use an older version of Visio as supplied by my employer. I like that it looks like Word templates, so its easy to navigate, especially for first time users. I'm already familiar with other Office products so its helpful to have a similar ribbon above/top of the screen.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

I dislike the intricacy of some diagrams. It's repetitive, in that if there are no saved templates for specific shapes, you have to start with a new shape etc. For beginners it can be irritating, especially if the user is not comfortable with technology. I find that some colleagues have a harder time using it

**Recommendations to others considering Visio:**

Watch tutorials on line for a better understanding of specific tools.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's easy to make a flow chart, and save as any file you need. It's a Office program, so it works seamlessly with other integrated office software: word, excel etc.

  ### 35. Userrfriendly

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Warehousing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2018

**What do you like best about Visio?**

It's very easy to use and within a short time you make an excellent diagram

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

the autoconnections points to link the shapes

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Process diagram and workflows

  ### 36. Good option for process diagrams

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2017

**What do you like best about Visio?**

Visio has what you need to create any type of diagram or process chart. The variety of shapes and symbols offered in the categories allow you to customize your diagrams in a way that allows you to define and use the symbols exactly how you want.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

The page layout and ability to organize and size your diagrams is not very simple or seamless which caused me to have to resize/organize my diagrams in order for them to fit on the page. The overall functionality was difficult to use and it took time to search for previously used symbols or shapes as there are almost too many categories to click through. The categories also do not display the image of the shape until you open it up completely which made it difficult to quickly scan as you can't see the shape as you are going through the categories.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Visio allowed me to illustrate data flow and system processes in a visual way that was clean and easy to understand. These visual data process flows were used daily for troubleshooting, problem solving, as well as for training new employees.

  ### 37. Wide array of tools and shapes, and types of diagrams, but become unwieldy if flowcharts large

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2017

**What do you like best about Visio?**

It feels like a full suite of tools, like any Microsoft Office-level software. Comparing some of the flowchart drawing software (Gliffy and draw.io), this one has the most features.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

I used this to start drawing very large (over 50 elements) flowcharts, and it became difficult to fit in the program, because the zoom tool isn't very smooth, so it was difficult to pan around the entire diagram.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows a lot of shapes and flows, and easy connectors, to draw diagrams and flowcharts.

  ### 38. Visio - just okay...

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bill B. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Visio?**

This tool is relatively easy to use, and is good at what it does, but it has a limited range.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

Clunky image import makes it a challenge for customization. Took a bit to figure out how to produce useable output files...

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Good for quick org charts and flow charts.

  ### 39. Need some help

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tameka A. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Visio?**

I like that I am able to make graphs to make ISO documents

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

That is it is confusing sometimes to use. It takes a lot longer than the other Microsoft applications to use.

**Recommendations to others considering Visio:**

More help available to use the application.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps with my ISO documents

  ### 40. Useful Mind Mapping Software

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robbie S. | Multimedia Specialist II, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2017

**What do you like best about Visio?**

I loved the wide array of prebuilt graphics for use with mind mapping and creating diagrams. There was never a time I couldn't find an icon suitable for the subject and the ability to edit the objects made the software very useful when mapping out sites and decision trees.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

The app often did not behave as I expected it to. For instance, when linking two or more objects together via an arrow the arrow rarely, if ever, stuck to the objects. While seemingly not a big deal, any time I would edit my document and move objects, the arrow would not be linked to the objects it was connecting and I would waste valuable time redrawing arrows.

**Recommendations to others considering Visio:**

Very useful, but has it's limitations.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mapping out websites and decision trees is much easier in Visio. I used to use PowerPoint due to it's similar functionality regrading built in, ready to use graphics but was always limited as that is not PP's primary use. Visio is built purely for mind mapping and made my life easier in that respect.

  ### 41. Visio is great for making complicated data easy to understand.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mary Anne P. | Chief Learning Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2017

**What do you like best about Visio?**

I don't always use Visio for every flow chart, but when you have a long string of flow chart items, this can really help out in the design process and keep you sane.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

For simple flow charts, the set up takes a bit too much time for me. I'm faster in word or excel for the easy ones.

**Recommendations to others considering Visio:**

If you do a ton of flow charts, then this is the software for you!

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I need help to simplify a complex problem for a client, I'll use Visio as a tool to make it user-friendly.

  ### 42. Visio: A brilliant logic driven flow mapping and wireframing tool

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2018

**What do you like best about Visio?**

The best thing about visio is its very useful to draw logic diagrams and also flexible to make clickable prototypes

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

The wireframing capability could be enhanced

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sharing and collaborating with people in software industry

  ### 43. Visio

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thea . | Lead User Experience Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2017

**What do you like best about Visio?**

It's great for laying out a site or product map.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

The automated snapping of objects is not really helpful because it does not allow much flexibility.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Some issues mainly involved the navigation/menu bar. It made things harder to understand for new users. It's beneficial because it's a good way to do interactive projects with someone who is not familiar with creative software such as Adobe Suite.

  ### 44. Useful for Creating Flow Charts, but is Limited

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2017

**What do you like best about Visio?**

What I like the best about Visio is that it is easy to you. You don't need to read or go through any type of tutorial as it's fairly intuitive. Thus, you can start creating new charts ASAP.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

The look of the charts is fairly limiting and I would say even outdated. I wish I can create more "cooler" and modern looking charts, but it seems like that's not really possible in Visio unless you manually do everything.

**Recommendations to others considering Visio:**

Easy to use for creating simple flow charts and org charts. Great if you aren't looking to create anything too complex or fancy in design.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Visio to create new process flow charts. The benefit is that it's easy to create a flow chart, which makes my life easier.

  ### 45. Nice for planning

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civic & Social Organization | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2018

**What do you like best about Visio?**

It's great for visually planning database schema.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

A little clunky and it takes a lot of clicking to get the options you need selected.

**Recommendations to others considering Visio:**

Be prepared for the amount of time and work that's needed to create diagrams in visio. It's not a quick process.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use visio to visualize and plan database schema.

  ### 46. A Cumbersome tool for 2017 !

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nirmal G. | Staff Software Engineer, Wireless, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2017

**What do you like best about Visio?**

It is still my go to tool for creating presentations with call flows and other pictoral representation

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

It is a cumbersome application and still stuck in early 2000s with respect to ease of usez

**Recommendations to others considering Visio:**

Will need some ramping up to get accustomed to this tool

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating documentation that is easy to understand

  ### 47. There’s probably a better way

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2018

**What do you like best about Visio?**

It doesn’t the job of letting me create good looking process maps. I like how it can pull an org structure from Outlook.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

The controls are clunky especially when inserting items between others. For quick jobs, I usually just opt to using Excel shapes.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Process mapping and showing flow

  ### 48. Use it begrudgenly

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Hardware | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2017

**What do you like best about Visio?**

It does flow charts, which is all I need it for

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

It does everything but flowcharts to a lower standard then I want.

**Recommendations to others considering Visio:**

It does flow charts. If you want to do drawings use a CAD software

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Flowcharts

  ### 49. Passable product for process flow work

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian B. | Management Consultant, Management Consulting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2017

**What do you like best about Visio?**

It's good at letting you build a process flow and assign numbers to the processes and link multiple pages/slides together. The many shapes on offer also allow you some variety in describing your processes and if you follow BPMN, you will be well-served to draft your processes.

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

Unfortunately, the visuals are pretty rudimentary and it's difficult to make aesthetically pleasing process flows. Additionally, it makes "smart" decisions to change the layout of your work, and you will be stuck reorganizing everything if its decisions actually make things worse (which is often the case).

**Recommendations to others considering Visio:**

Understand that you are using a tool that does not upgrade very often, and so you are stuck with the same features that have been around for decades.

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Visio to build out financial process flows, so that we can capture the changes being made during big software development projects.

  ### 50. Not the most intuitive

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2017

**What do you like best about Visio?**

This is a tool you need a little experience with or training to be the most successful

**What do you dislike about Visio?**

Would be better if it was a bit more intuitive

**What problems is Visio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Flow charts or process maps
