## VirtualBox Reviews
  ### 1. Full feature integration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick D. | Systems Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2021

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

The simplicity of expanding virtual hard drives, integration of peripherals, and ease of adjusting system parameters such as available memory is great

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

There are a lot of small updates and every update needs two separate installs for the main application and 'guest additions'

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

This software works great!

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Separating programs that add a lot of background resources into virtual machines means that they are available when needed but aren't slowing down my computer all the time.

  ### 2. It's one of the smooth app when it comes to use other os on windows.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aman G. | Research And Development Intern, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2021

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

Virtual Box is the tool developed by oracle for managing VM's Virtual machines.
Its best way to start with Linux or any other operating system. It's really easy to setup Vm with virtual Box all you require is just ISO file of Operating system and just need to follow few more steps to setup your Vm.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Virtual Box do have few issues still it's very easy to use compared to other VM managing softwares.
Sometimes when we save state of our VM it does not load again it gets stuck at same state if saved incorrectly and due to which you may loose all your data of that VM.
No proper backup possible, if VM is gone data is simply gone as it's all hosted on Virtual Box.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

It's good to use Virtual Box and it's highly recommended to go this way if you are new with Ubuntu, parrot or Redhat whatever.
Even if you are practicing for ethical hacking it's better to use VM instead of directly using it on your system .

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Virtual Box is great tool to start learning any alternative Operating system as it's never good idea to dual boot your system or just start with Linux full fledge as dual booting makes system slow.
So it's always good to use virtual Box and once you are comfortable with Linux or whatever os you are learning you can start using normally.
No risk to your host os if you are performing anything on Virtual Box. As Linux have some commands that can put whole system at stack.

  ### 3. Different OS on Virtual Box

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Deepti S. | 5G Software Developer 2, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2021

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

I love the fact that you can install the image of any OS say Windows, Linux and can use it smoothly via Virtual Box.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Its difficult to work on the Virtual Machine screen itself because of small size. But there are many tools like Putty etc which can be use for remote connection.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the problem of using different OS at a time. I don't need several systems now, I can install the image on my system and can use it in Virtual box.

  ### 4. Best open source virtulization software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2021

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

It's available on Mac, Windows, and Linux. It is free to use and configuring a new VM in Virtualbox is very easy and simple. One can copy text or files from VirtualBox Vms to the host machine or vice versa

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Virtual machines take too much time to boot and taking their backups isn't simple enough, also it takes up a lot of system resources to run the VMs and are generally slow

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use VirtualBox to run ubuntu and resin OS for app development, and local Kubernetes deployment respectively. I also use it to test my application on different operating systems generally used by customers.

  ### 5. Quick and Easy VM's with VirtualBox

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2021

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

Virtual Box removes or preconfigures a lot of the more technical decisions that need to be made when creating VMs. Creating a VM in other systems can be pretty daunting for novice IT people, so I like the fact that I can give Virtual Box to a semi-non-technical user and they can start bringing up VMs pretty quickly. For a while, Virtual Box was my platform of choice because of the absolute simplicity to bring up new boxes, and I could do it in exactly the same way, every time, whether I was on Linux, Windows, or Mac. The user interface is exactly the same on all the platforms. From my perspective, supporting people in a variety of environments, they can setup their preferred system, and I can guide them over the phone, click for click, exactly the same no matter what they were on. This applies both to the initial installation of Virtual Box as well as using in regular usage. It's super simple to install and setup.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Virtual Box just had to go and create their own type of virtual disk image format. There are already well accepted disk image formats, but no, not good enough for Virtual Box, they had to make their own. I think that's a waste of creative resources.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

Full disclosure, I am not currently using Virtual Box actively for my own work. I have switched over to KVM with Virtual Machine Manager on ubuntu for my own work, but I can recommend Virtual Box to my customers who need a VM to come up quick without a lot of setup & admin overhead. I recommend Virtual Box for those situations where you just need it to come up with a minimal hassle, and it doesn't have to be necessarily high-availability/high-uptime kinds of systems, but gets you a quick test VM with minimal hassle.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When my customers need a test machine, or different platform of some kind, I can easily guide them through the process of setting up Virtual Box over the phone, and guide them click-for-click thru building out the VM they need. Once they do it themselves once, they can drop right in and do it without me because Virtual Box is so simplified. Some of my users are doing software testing from their home machines, and with Virtual Box they can do things a lot more simply and directly than they would with say HyperV or VMWare.

  ### 6. Virtualization made easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2021

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

VirtualBox is a virtualization software by Oracle that lets you create and manage multiple virtual machines on your desktop.
It has a very intuitive GUI that allows you to have a VM up and running in just a few minutes.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Images require a lot of disk space.
Performance-wise, VMs are much heavier than containers.
Better mount facilities to allow easy access to the host machine's filesystem would facilitate things for the user.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

Go for it! You won´t regret your choice.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to test my software on different platforms. Therefore, I do not have to change computers to test my code, making things easier and improving productivity.

  ### 7. VirtualBox is a zero-cost option for decent virtualization

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

VirtualBox is cross-platform, supported by Oracle, and can virtualize most operating systems.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

VirtualBox works for the most part but sometimes is a bit flakey and crashes unexpectedly.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My primary virtualization tool is VMWare but sometimes I need to use virtualization on an older unsupported OS or on a system where I don't have a VMWare license. VirtualBox fills this gap.

  ### 8. Keep work separated from personal stuff

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nico C. | Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2021

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

As a Linux user, I love how simple is it to install VirtualBox on virtually any distribution directly from the package manager. One command (or few clicks) and you're good to go.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Hardware support is somewhat limited, especially when it comes to GPU. The lack of support for OpenGL 3 can be a problem if you need to run any application that strictly requires it.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Due to social distancing, I am currently mixing WFH with office work.
Since I don't want to pollute my personal PC with work stuff, I keep things separated with an ad-hoc Windows installation containing all the configurations to access the company remotely.

  ### 9. A good way learn

The space consumed by the vdi file on my laptop keeps on increasing. Also, I remember an instance wherein the software crashed and I was not able to retrieve my files. However, I haven't faced any such issue again since then

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used virtualbox to work on applications compatible with Windows and Linux environments

  ### 11. Free and reliable to host virtual machines

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2021

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

The user interface is very clear and it's very easy to install and setup new virtual machines. The full screen view mode is a lag free immersive experience and it doesn't feel like a Vm, also I love the snapshots feature which is a safety measure

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

The virtual machines don't boot up or restart as quickly compared to other hypervisor solutions

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As someone who is new to Linux something up the system is not that hard, with virtual box can help the user to learn the Linux operating system like Ubuntu and get used to it before making it as the primary os. Also in case of any issues one can take snapshots and roll back to them at any moment/time

  ### 12. Lagfree Linux Vm on windows

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2021

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

First of all its free to use and setting up an Vm is very simple , one just needs an iso of the os and he/she can fire up his os in just few steps. The ability to take snapshots makes it even more recommendable

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Some issues I personally faced are very slow loading of VM compared to other VM provisioning software like VMware and sometimes its doesnt load the saved VM state perfectly

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a fresher to Linux based OS its easy to ruin your OS and hence its not a good idea to dual boot, with VMs one can play with and learn and can recreate Vms or restore a snapshot in case you mess with the OS

  ### 21. VirtualBox: a place to make test on different OS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jaime P. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2020

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

The easy way to make a new machine with the operating system whatever you want, the sharing files between the host and the virtual. It's simply and efficient. You can make test with the final host and later implement it. Can make pentesting with different security operating system version and test in another virtual machine without making nothing to the host. Can implement a test server and give to production in the same day. The creation of new machines is easy as next and a few configurations that you can select from the options or to use in some other areas.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

I don't find anything that could dislike me this software. It's great I love it. But no wait there is nothing bad really for me is amazing and very usefull.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

VirtualBox is easy, and faster to make test about an operating system, server or whatever you need, from develop to security, everything you need to make on a different operating system you can try before you deploy it and low cost to make the test, because when we test on a server, we use disk space, memory and proccesor. This make the configuration error show it on the testing role and not on the productive area. You can make the test for a software if work on your machine if it is compatible like migratin from Windows 7 to Windows 10 before migrating all the users in the company. Or if you have a service on a server and want to migrate from Debian 6 for example to Debian 10, you can test it on you own device, and once it is tested and give the green, you can give that virtual disk to implement on the productive server.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can make test for a server on Windows, Ubuntu and Centos without having to buy or use the physical server. Once it is configurated, I move the virtualmachine to the host they will live and have all the configuration I tested before. The security team implements security operating systems on her machines and test some troubles we have on the final host.

  ### 22. VirtualBox is great for testing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sumit K. | System Engineer 2, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

I mostly use it for testing and learning purposes.

  ### 23. comfortable and practical

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** marcos amadeo m. | Masajista, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2021

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

that I can configure the virtual machine to my liking

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

that it is very complicated to add extensions like a USB and for the virtual machine to read it

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the review of ISO images to see the performance on the PC to install

  ### 24. With virtualbox I can run multiple operating systems also totally free

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Malvin C. | B2B Manager: Marketing and Field Channel, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2020

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

It has good operation and more when I am going to run multiple operating systems, it is totally free and this helps anyone who needs to use it to change and configure virtual machines. In a few words, in virtual box you can work with any software.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Sometimes its performance is slow, it is a little difficult to adapt and learn to use due to its interface that is a bit complicated. It has happened to me that the machines when turning off in the wrong way do not recover everything as it was, you have to configure everything.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

It is suitable for work and has good performance in the vast majority of applications. For people who have knowledge on the subject it is easy to use, on the other hand I do not recommend it for people who do not have a basic or optimal knowledge for the use of it, it could be tedious.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has helped us troubleshoot Windows installation by simulating before installing, has high performance in terms of over 15 CPU capacity in hours of hard work, and supports a variety of operating systems.

  ### 25. VirtualBox Virtual machines!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jhon W. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2020

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

When listening to virtual machines you can think of something very complicated that different software is needed to be able to implement a machine and it would take us all the time, however I like the virtualbox system because it makes it simple a system that only needs the iso of the operating system We want to start this way and it runs and we can freely use the virtual machine, a new console or a new computer. I think it's incredible how it makes it look so simple and for us it is a great step to do tests on the system.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

The negative points regarding some computers for virtualbox you need a good computer since it consumes a lot of memory and it is not advisable to use a low-end pc, it would not work correctly. They are negative points that do not interfere with the virtualbox system but it is important to clarify for that users compare the characteristics with other services.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

In my opinion regarding the service it has worked giving us favorable results due to the function of the virtual machines and the benefit that we can use, we can also send information through these virtual machines and save the files in the machines, that is, as different computers but they are all in a single pc in this way we have the documents protected as if they were backup copies, it may be an option it is not very safe but it can work, in context it meets the objective and I like it, I recommend it.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A specific problem that virtualbox has solved for us is the system tests in order to be able to find out if a system works correctly or not, we add it to the virtual machine and we begin the tests, a point to clarify the virtual machines not It has nothing to do with our pc, so we can delete, start, format whatever we want with the virtual machine, in turn I like the service so I practice it is just to start, add the ISO and immediately with the default configurations it will start Although those characteristics can be edited, it makes it simpler, I like it.

  ### 26. Useful and easy tools for testing systems.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jamez C. | Information Technology Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2020

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

I use this software preferably to test application systems without the need to apply direct ones on my computer. I must emphasize that VirtualBox is a very pleasant software and the use I am giving it has been very necessary to avoid the loss of information on my personal computer. It consists of being able to add virtual machines with the preferred operating system and in this I add the test software for that reason, I like the system and until now I continue to use it to avoid any type of problem with my information.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Improving the systems or supports so that the first users use the VirtualBox software is much easier for them to implement the virtual machine, however at certain points the default tools make the software easier at certain points, it can be complicated by that new users do not know how to modify this problem, it is a characteristic that they can improve, although the software works excellent.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

Recommend the service to users who need to test application systems or any circumstances without losing personal information because with this it is much easier to implement any operating system and virtual machines will start the process we can have Windows machines or any system without harming the initial computer data. I am very happy because it works very well and I have had favorable results when starting the machine, everything is easy since no previous knowledge is needed for its use.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is evident that for me it has worked because I can implement any software in your virtual machine system because the operating systems are fully functional like a normal computer but it is virtual software where it is possible to delete or restart it and it does not matter if you lose Personal information since it is a virtual machine, Virtualbox avoids using important data or information, everything is different from the personal machine and it is possible to test infinity of software such as surfing the web. Personally I use virtualbox as a personal computer and the information if I save them on the original computer.

  ### 27. Virtualbox

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Faisal N. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2020

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

What I like the most about Virtual Box is being able to create several virtual machines with different operating systems within my host computer. It is very easy to use and it is also free. It has nothing to envy to other solutions like VmWare. In addition, it is possible to create several virtual machines with different operating systems, either for practice or tests, or to have them in production running in a real way.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

The worst thing about Virtual Box is that having several virtual machines running at the same time consumes a lot of resources from the real machine or host. You will need a lot of ram memory and a good processor to be able to carry out correct simulations.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

Highly recommended, it is free, it is easy to use and it is very useful to have several operating systems running on the same machine

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In our work center Virtual Box has become a very important program, since we use it to be able to practice creating domains with windows server and several connected clients, all simulated from Virtual Box without having to resort to real environments, which it would be more expensive and laborious.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Turan Emre K. | Data System Senior Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2020

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

I can run multiple and different operating systems on the same computer. We can configure and use VMs in the specifications we want. We use expandable harddisk and memory sizes. We are able to mount the iSO files.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Sometimes problems with USB 2.0 or 3.0 connections. It may be necessary to restart the device.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need to use different operating systems to perform our various tests and executions. I can work with all VMs at the same time or at different times. I save both time and the need for a physical machine.

  ### 29. Impressive O.S Virtualization software

**Reviewed by:** Henry M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2020

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

Virtual Box gives me the power to run multiple virtual operating systems on my computer. The installations steps for operating systems is very clear and easy to follow. With virtual box it is easy to adjust the computing specification on any virtualization after installing. Most importantly virtual box is free.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

The booting process of virtual OS on virtual Box takes long. Transferring files between the host and virtual OS should be simpler, wouldn't mind a drag and drop.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

Virtual Box is a free and very stable OS Virtualization environment

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Virtual Box to install instances of Linux which has some tools I might need that are not available on Windows. It also makes it simpler to practice administration of other operating systems without having to install them on my physical device.

  ### 30. Powerful cross-platform virtualizer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Edwin F. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2020

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

It is a very good option to virtualize operating systems for free. Its interface is very instinctive and easy to use. It allows detailing each characteristic of the virtual machine that you want to create and currently supports a large number of Windows and Linux operating systems for virtualization. It has AddOns that allow the screen of the virtual machine to adapt to the screen of the host machine. It also allows you to create shared folders and also share the clipboard. It has an option that allows you to import and export virtual machines quickly, depending on the size of it. Another important feature is that it is constantly updated and has a community that can help solve problems in the event of one.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

It has been very difficult for me to virtualize the MacOS operating system, despite the differences it has with other languages, I think it should allow me to virtualize even the most basic version that does not need many graphics. Installing an operating system other than Linux or Windows is very complex, I think that in that aspect they could expand and improve on that.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

It's a good option. It is very intuitive, you only need to have the image of the operating system to virtualize. In addition there are many tutorials and information on how to use each component of Virtualbox.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Virtualbox helps me to have several virtual machines on my same machine in isolation. There is no need to partition the disk and configure the startup of the host operating system. Virtualbox helps me to test how a specific solution is shared in a certain operating system and saves me time and money.

  ### 31. Perfect virtual machines to avoid loss of information.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeft B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

Virtual box is a service that we use in the company in order to be able to implement any software outside the business network in this way, we keep ourselves safe from any theft of information or if the service does not work, which damages or damages the network, it is for this reason Virtual box was the best viable solution for us as the company uses a service that will allow us to protect all kinds of information, in addition to this its tool is very basic and very easy to use.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

I have no problem with the virtual box system, it seems to me that it is very stable and very easy to use, however there is a point that we can improve or that can be used, such as those predetermined processes where a type of virtual machine is sometimes placed virtual machine freezes and need to be adjusted as needed.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

I recommend it seems very necessary in a company to implement any software without losing information, it seems very important to me, because its main function is to try to start or proceed with any type of software, but it also complies with protecting the security of our company.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I love how it is handled, in addition to this it solved our most impossible problems such as insecurity is for this reason that with this service we implement any software on your system and in this way we do not compromise or lose any type of information or simply know if the software works correctly, it is not implemented directly to the company I love it because I can do any kind of tests.

  ### 32. Very good tool to expand the possibilities of the software you can use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Iram A. | Software Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2019

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

Being able to run work software I'm usually not able to because of my current operating system (MacOS), and it's a good extra that I'm also able to run some games which have the same operating system restriction (Most computer games are compatible with Windows for example, but quite a lot are not compatible with MacOS). Also in my opinion it is usually very stable, at least more so than other alternatives I have used in the past.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Sometimes I've had issues when trying to access external hardware from the virtual machine, also you might need to .

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

Use it, it's a great piece of software that can solve problems like operating system compatibility, just keep in mind that it is very important to have enough RAM to run whatever other operating system you plan to run and allocating it to the virtual machine, otherwise performance might not be so great (which is understandable, but still something you should totally keep in mind if you're going to use VirtualBox)

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Running software that's exclusive to a specific operating system without actually having a computer with said system (i.e. as a MacOS user, there are a lot of programs exclusive to Windows that I've been able to use without having to get an extra computer)

  ### 33. Superb free and open-source virtualization solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yasas Sri S. | Systems Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 18, 2020

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

1) VirtualBox is totally free of charged.
2) Very straight-forward to install another operating system on top of VirtualBox.
3) No limitations to number of virtual machines that run on top of VirtualBox, if you have enough resources, then you can run any number of virtual machines.
4) Host network manager option built with VirtualBox allowed me to create multiple networks for my VMs.
5) Export and import virtual appliance option is one of the key features in this product. You can export any of your virtual machines as ova or ovf extensions and import them to another computer.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Graphic acceleration has to be improved. Also sometimes, VirtualBox uses huge amount of resources from my PC, so I'm unable to do other tasks from my PC.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

If you are looking for a tool to run an operating system on top of another operating system, then this is the ideal tool for you.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

VirtualBox helps me a lot to test configurations before I go head an put them on production servers.

  ### 34. Easy to deploy ova file

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Make Mac OS support on Windows 10 easy to setup

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

Easy use to test virus as cyber security annalist

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to create virtual machine. Test malware on virtual box

  ### 35. Excellent free virtualization option, but...

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** b k. | Director, Software Engineering, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2019

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

I like that it is a product that has been around for many years, as such it is solid, and it is very dependable. It has a nice interface (albeit sometimes not very intuitive). There is guest OS support for a number of platforms. It has very low hardware requirements.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Number one, I don't like that it is now owned by Oracle, but business is business, I suppose. As a developer, there are some use cases that require unattended deployment. In short, being able to run a virtual machine as a service, starting and pausing without any login session open. This is not available with the current version of VirtualBox (6.0.14 as of this review). While you are now able to use "detached" virtual machines, you still have to log in. And although there are a few tricks out there that allow you to run the virtual machines without a user logged in, they cannot be viewed or managed once you are in a UI session. Another thing I dislike is the cumbersome way bridged networking works. In order to have a true bridged, 2-way guest you have to use 2 virtual network adapters, one host, one bridged.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

VirtualBox is a very good (as of yet) free alternative to expensive virtualization software like VMWare Workstation. However, be mindful that it has limitations, especially when it comes to automated deployment. You will have to be willing to do some hacking in order to make your deployments work as intended.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use VirtualBox for setting up docker development environments. Coupled with Windows 10 Linux Subsystem, it offers a very powerful way of integrating a full-fledged linux box with the ease of access of LXS. I also use it to test application deployments on Windows or Linux desktops.

  ### 36. Oracle VM VirtualBox will let you experiment other OS without having to replace yours

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nilson D. | Senior Software QA Engineer Lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2020

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

VirtualBox helps a lot to emulate an Operating System without having to replace yours. You can experiment and use it like if it were installed. Be sure to assign the proper resources so you can run your desired OS.

This software provides the ability to change the resources that are assigned to the Virtual Machine. These include disk space, RAM, Network adapters, and cores.

You can also prepare a VM for sharing. It's very helpful for students and teachers. You can easily provide a VM with all the necessary software to start learning some specific topic right away.

There is also a great feature I love. Saving the state of the VM. There is no need to shut it down!

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

I dislike the Error messages. These are poorly explained.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

You might want to check VMWare software before using this software. Also, you could check if you can run your application using Docker containers.

If you are looking to teach students to use specific software from Ubuntu and they have Windows PC you can prepare a VM for sharing using VirtualBox. All the necessary software can be there and already set.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Personal projects related activities, startups and Learning about Hadoop HDFS and Spark with a VM shared by our teacher.

I've learned how to program in python using an Ubuntu machine. I didn't have to alter my current windows installation by doing this!

  ### 37. The simplest way to have another operating system on your PC

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fred D. | IT Support Technician, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2019

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

It is a very useful virtualization software for those who need to use an operating system above the one they already have, running each one at the same time, without requiring to partition and install two operating systems on the same computer. It can be installed on a wide variety of operating systems, including Linux. It has a simple interface translated in more than 20 languages and, in addition, it is free, but that is not why it is of lower quality, since it is backed by Oracle, a company that has proven to offer quality software.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

I could not directly say something wrong regarding the software. The details in which operation may be affected are quite circumstantial. For example, it is a naturally light software, but there are times when I need a more powerful team to notice less the loss of performance and that its fluidity is less affected in the virtual machine because of certain operating systems and software.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

I recommend, for those who are interested in this excellent free software, that they consider the utility they want to give to the virtual machine, that is, consider the relationship between the power of their equipment and the demands that the work they want to do in VirtualBox will require. This is pointed out since new users can be disappointed by what they have heard from VirtualBox and the slow virtual machine in front of them. And this is because the virtual machine is required beyond what our equipment can offer.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Academically, VirtualBox allows me to use another operating system (Ubuntu) and, since it is lightweight and uses little memory, the startup is very fast. In addition, it is very simple to use, you don't even have to configure it. In addition to that, it allows me to make rapid tests of applications and to know their minimum requirements, at the same time that I become familiar with other operating systems, without having to change the one I already have, nor to force my team.
It offers me the possibility of doing cross-platform tests under controlled conditions to test softwares that are not available in my operating system or to test destructive scripts as a test, that do not mean a real threat thanks to Virtual Box since, if something goes wrong, our Main operating system is not affected. Its simple interface allows you, at least, to give it a basic use, without the need to pay anything to get all the functionalities.

  ### 38. Virtualization software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marlyn L. | Analista de Laboratorio Junior, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2019

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

It is very practical and versatile, it allows virtualizing almost any operating system, convenient for testing of any kind, it has excellent stability and perfect communication with the host system, it allows the autocapture of the peripherals which is very good because you can navigate between windows in a more comfortable and fast way

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

It is necessary to know this type of tools because it can be confusing at the beginning as some functions may not be assimilated. Only in a few systems, the use of a desktop environment with fixed-size windows can distort the aspect ratio of the virtual machine although in most cases this does not usually happen. Regular scaling is done automatically. It is essential to have good resources available because the lack of these can cause the virtual machine to run slower than the host, especially without hardware acceleration.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

I can highly recommend this very useful, robust and versatile tool that meets all the necessary features to virtualize any operating system

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Currently he used it to test applications on different operating systems, with different conditions of use and in connection with servers from other countries

  ### 39. Useful simulation software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chi Wai H. | Global Enablement Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2019

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

No cost to install. It is the only free and user-friendly virtualization software available on macOS.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Version 6 support on Linux host is worse than version 5. No valid reason to upgrade to version 6. CentOS X-Win fails to start most of the time with version 6.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

Why VirtualBox version 6 support on Linux (CentOS) host is worse than VirtualBox version 5?

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hands-on exercise environment setup using VirtualBox. No need to pay license fee.

  ### 40. Great OS visualizer to scale projects and test programs.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ivan H. | Information Technology Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2019

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

I really like it because I can try other operating systems, which is very simple, for example, imagine that you are using Windows and want to try and learn Linux, because instead of radically switching to Linux, you can install a copy of a Linux distribution in VirtualBox and go learning and see if you like that distribution, and if you do not like it, you can change to another with a few simple clicks, and if you are a programmer, thanks to VitualBox, you can program from the virtual machine without problems and without having to share the disk hard and booting the computer with another operating system. It has special tools for sharing files between machines, one of the good benefits is that it has a video capture tool, consumes much less resources, both disk space and RAM.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

When you start loading the virtual machine, it stays with the black screen, sometimes with a blinking cursor, although the host machine is still running smoothly and you can close the VirtualBox window, or on Linux host computers such as Windows, you can encounter the problem that the newly created virtual machine does not recognize the USB ports or the devices connected to them.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

It is important to have a good amount of RAM, verify if the processor has virtualization technology, host the virtual hard disk in another hard disk drive other than the base operating system drive, since it will take less time to do reading and writing, both for the emulated system and the base system, allocating fixed space to the virtual hard disk, improves performance a bit, since it should not be reallocating space, it is simply already destined.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I suspect that a file sent to me could be infected, I can run it in VirtualBox to check its reliability. If nothing happens, I can use it on my computer. Otherwise, it will only infect VirtualBox and your team will remain immune to the attack. Also run several instances of the same application separately. Thus, if one of them fails, it will not affect the operation of the rest.

  ### 41. The Most Complete "Virtualization Tool" That Is Very Easy To Use And Delivers High Performance.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paula O. | Analista de soporte para TI, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2019

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

What I like about VirtualBox is that it is a virtualization tool that can handle different operating systems and applications using less hardware than might be needed if running on dedicated servers, which is a magnificent benefit. It has a very easy set of commands to control functionality, as well as a simple user interface, allowing you to easily manage all your virtual machines and customize resources effortlessly. It also has a lot of documentation available so you can customize the most suitable solutions for your company or project.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

The only thing I could express that I dislike is that if the host machine runs out of disk space, the VM will become unreadable even after freeing up space. Fortunately, VirtualBox keeps a previous copy, but you must restore it manually.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

I recommend VirtualBox as it is very suitable for running machines in the background, such as servers and databases that require little user interaction. Similarly, it is ideal for programs that require 3D hardware acceleration. In summary, it is very good for software developers who need separate machines to develop or test their work.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can affirm that in my company we use this virtualization software from developers and analysts to implementers and support staff; since it is really useful to have a virtualized infrastructure that saves us from purchasing equipment and, above all, that can simulate the conditions of our clients where incidents occur.

  ### 42. Excellent platform( Virtual ) to host operating system

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kamaldev K. | Senior Software Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2019

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

Able to host Windows and Linux OS same time. Easy to share the resources like Memory, RAM and external peripheral device. Installation and removal is very easy. Data exchange between main system is easy. Any number of OS can be installed. Very helpful in Large scale network tests

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Not able to access all peripheral like SCI cards in virtual box. Sharing disk between virtual OS is not available. Limitations on virtual port creating and monitoring.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

Need to access SCI cards and all peripheral available to PC

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helpful to compile /Run application for specific targets. Easily setup any OS on my Windows PC. Extra memory/CPU consumption is very less. Network /serial communication speed match with physical machine.

  ### 43. Me and my coworkers love VirtualBox

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John C. | IT Support Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2019

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

What I liked most about this hypervisor is the simple way to create virtual machines and configure them in the most convenient way for you. You are the one who decides the specifications of a new VM and with the operating system you want to mount. I like the settings for each virtual machine, to be able to edit the storage capacity, RAM or the host network connection.
Other things that I like is that I can change the preferences, import and export the configurations of certain VMs, manage the network, save snapshots during the run for saving your process and have an easy restore point, and many other things, and all these options are for free.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Virtualbox graphic engine is not so powerful, since in machines with low specifications you can notice a low quality in performance, I personally have found that you have to turn off the instance, in many of those low-spec VMs. It is necessary to have a computer with a lot of ram memory and good processor so that everything works smoothly and there isn't problem in performance. Another drawback is that it is not entirely free, since some of its extensions require a license fee.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

I recommend this piece of program to all those independent developers out there, that enthusiast, the one who is learning more about the operating systems and their applications, to those work groups that are starting their projects. This product is wonderful.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My coworkers and I had been looking for a free virtualization tool to test our desktop applications on various OS (Windows, Linux, Mac, android) and analyze compatibility, without spending large amounts of money trying something simple. VirtualBox was the perfect finger ring. We are delighted with this program, a good solution for IT specialists.

  ### 44. VirtualBox - best virtual machine

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vaselina M. | Менеджер по продажам, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2019

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

This is a very convenient tool for testing various software on different operating systems. Most of all in the virtual box I like that the tool is absolutely free. You can create the required number of virtual machines, and allocate the necessary number of system resources for each of them. Also a very important feature is that I can export my virtual system settings to another computer, and I won’t need to reinstall the software I need.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

It is not always possible to import the installed operating system. This happens when you import a system from one computer to another. Often the system characteristics of computers are different, and not always one computer is able to work with the same settings. Unfortunately, the virtual box cannot adjust the finished image and independently allocate the necessary resources for the correct operation.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

I recommend this product. It is one of the best products in this segment on the market.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Software Testing.
2. The ability to run programs that are not compatible with the main operating system.

  ### 45. VirtualBox

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tom M. | Student, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2019

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

I use virtual box to simulate a a wide range of operating systems; these including windows 10, windows 7, windows xp and versions of linux. The ability to emulate the OS in a controled environment gives me the capability to test and design features or software safely and at no cost.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Due to the virtual box running within a system already, the loading times can be significantly long if there is a reduced amount of computer power (minor/major inlut lag). Although this is not too much a problem for my self but feel like some people may get fustrated.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

I would highly reccomend virtualbox to anyone condisering using it. The setup wizard is a simple process which takes you through the steps if a vendor has not installed it. The capability to replicate any operating system and design/test is a great way to test or produce.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Personally i use virtual box for two reasons, development and testing. Applications such as blueJ, unity and visual studios i run within the sandbox as it means that i cannot dratically effect the performance or settings of my main rig. Having this eases my mind that it is impossoble to ruin my OS + Computer.

  ### 46. Virtual Box Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Janet K. | News editor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2019

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

I like the fact that virtual box a gives me a visualization system for me to to run on an operating system.
Also the application gives you an opportunity to learn systems like ubuntu without having to divide my hard drive.
Also Virtual box can help you use a Linux box like you were running any other software in your either Mac Operating System,Widows Operating System thus very important.
This software is also easy to apply and install because it doesnt take alot of time to download it

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Virtual box doesn't contain many features as the windows virtual do which limits our use of the virtual box or sometimes its the only thing we have and this limits our creativity when performing various tasks.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

As a person who has used this software i would recommend those who want to try it to go a head and buy in the idea because It allows you to copy an operating system on your own computer and use it like it's running on real hardware.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The software is used as an easy way of re-producing your image virtual machine or what we call clones
various connecting adapters to fit the various needs of your lab setup when you are learning a modern technology , lets say if you want a fully isolated network try internal network or if you want an internet access try to bridge and all variations in the center.

  ### 47. VirtualBox - The Best Virtual Machine Provider

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven M. | Program Manager, Program Development, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2019

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

My number one favorite thing about VirtualBox is the fact that it is completely free. It supports proxies, meaning you can use it to safely browse the internet and even test programs. You can make unlimited amounts of virtual machines, as long as you have the right amount of storage. Setting these up is no issue, you just have to find the right .iso to import into VirtualBox.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

VirtualBox's controls are quite laggy in all honesty. It takes around 200-300 ms to perform the action after you do it. As well as this, it is very hard to set it up to the point where you can copy and paste into the VirtualBox. You have to add multiple extensions just to get this to work.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

I advise you to test this program. It is amazing at its job- it hosts amazing virtual machines for product testing, optimization, etc. It supports many different features such as a proxy option, hosting it on a proxy to keep your data secured. I would give this a try, especially if you have been recently having issues with security.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

VirtualBox allows us to safely and securely browse the web, test programs sent by clients to be modified, and optimize our programs and test them on these machines. Rather than buying a VPS, we can just use VirtualBox and host the machine off of our network. This not only saves time but also saves us a lot of money.

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

VirtualBox is still a frontrunner in the virtualization space, it helps me create disposable and self contained environments where I can run my experiments without being afraid of bigger consequences like the blu screen of death or a boot loop. I love to tweak Linux's boot loader setting, I would like to test them on virtual box before I deploy them across all machines in our organization. If I do not test out the boot loader configurations of virtual box beforehand, I run the risk of corrupting the boot loader and it would cause further complications. I also used to run my primary development environment on Virtual box to ensure my dependencies and software installs are isolated. Virtualbox helps me limit the amout of Random access memory (RAM) and processing power (CPU) each of my VMS get. It is very easy to setup virtual box and it is a better option to the paid VM ware as virtual box is absolutely free to download and use and unlike VMware again, Virtual box is open source software whose code can be viewed and audited for vulnerabilities. Virtual box is cross platform and supports Mc, Linus and Windows.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

It would be amazing if they come up with an option to run virtual box in tablets and mobile phones, it would come in handy to spin up linux machines on the fly.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

Virtual box as a developer environment is being made obsolete by Dropbox. However for server virtualization it is still good.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me spin up experimental OS environments. If I mess up with the system configuration, I can easily undo them without affecting my host machine.

  ### 49. When virtualizing it becomes simple

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

Among the virtualizers it is undoubtedly the most simple and intuitive, but also very complete, with the possibility of virtualizing any aspect of a machine / device.
Furthermore you can create an image file of any machine created, to be able to share it, or copy it to a new device while maintaining the data and much more.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

Sometimes the creation of a machine is not successful, without a reason.
Or it does not recognize some USB devices and you need to restart the machine.
He needs a PC with good technical specifications to work well.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it for work, to virtualize virtually every service.
The possibilities, having a good hardware available, are practically endless: from the tests of alternative operating systems, to the virtualization of networks to test the case studies and carry out troubleshooting.
Also to use programs no longer compatible with the most up-to-date systems.

  ### 50. VirtualBox virtualization available to everyone

**What do you like best about VirtualBox?**

I love VirtualBox because it has the ability to virtualize almost any operating system with unmatched driver compatibility, I have been using VirtualBox for some years now even when it was necessary to capture the mouse and keyboard to use it on the guest and then release them with the key Ctrl to be able to use it on the host really was a rather uncomfortable process, but its growing development and constant updating by the community have made this a great virtualization software that has great driver support. and the most attractive point is that it is free and is backed by a great company such as Oracle, it is important to highlight that VirtualBox is an excellent virtualization tool for home use since for the business area we have other more specialized tools, an extra important is that once the host host is installed, it is possible to obtain additional functionalities, such as sharing the clipboard, drag & drop support and adapting the host screen to the size of the host even by resizing, one of its excellent features lies in the possibility of customizing each machine to the required hardware needs with CPU, Memory, storage among others. In the networks section, the configuration capacity that can be obtained due to its different network modes is excellent, such as: Bridge mode, NAT, Internal network, host-only and Not connected, this can be said to be a tool Very complete virtualization.

**What do you dislike about VirtualBox?**

In a cost-benefit relationship, many negative things could not be said about this tool, although it is appropriate to mention that in some operating systems such as Linux, the configuration of the extras that allow us for example the auto resizing of the screen and the other features can be complicated before mentioned in the pro. Additionally there is a point that although I would not consider it as much a negative aspect of the tool if it is necessary to mention, and it is the subject of the resources of the host team because of this the performance of the virtual machines will depend, and that is the essence of virtualization, one needs many system resources to maximize the host and virtual machine simultaneously. On the positive side, with VirtualBox it is easy to adjust the resources assigned to the virtual machine. It cannot be changed on the fly while using the virtual environment.

**Recommendations to others considering VirtualBox:**

It is a tool that we all must allow ourselves to try, although because it is free it does not indicate that it is not good on the contrary it has multiple features that make it worthy of a place reserved for it in the virtualizer ranking, I sincerely recommend it although As I mentioned earlier in corporate environments it is good to use other tools specially designed for these environments. It is definitely reliable and robust insurance, so I would not hesitate to recommend its use as a virtualization tool.

**What problems is VirtualBox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Currently VirtualBox has allowed me to develop and test applications on different operating systems in a safe and controlled environment. It is really an excellent tool to develop all kinds of tests the idea of being able to virtualize any operating system and within being able to apply test settings verify its behavior and even more its compatibility with the system is fantastic. It is even ideal for testing an operating system with some internal modification, as in my case a Linux distribution to which a modified kernel was implemented in which different types of tests were performed before placing it in production.
