A VPC is a global resource and the subnets are regional resources, so whenever we integrate VPC with other resources in GCP, it is super easy to set up, it is flexible, scalable, and secure as well. People usually trip over this limitation when they have a VM in network A that tries to talk to CloudSQL instance in network B and it doesn't work (since CloudSQL is provisioned in GCP-owned project which is then peered to network B).
