## About Virtual Machine Manager
Virtual Machine Manager allows you to run multiple VMs on your NAS, restore a VM using snapshot technology, and allocate IT resources among several VMs.

## Virtual Machine Manager Reviews
  ### 1. Very good IaaS management software with a few drawbacks

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Virtual Machine Manager?**

Integration with SMI-S storage, OOB, and Network Virtualization is very helpful for deploying en masse and managing a multi-tenant architecture.

**What do you dislike about Virtual Machine Manager?**

Lack of Web GUI, very finicky placement rules, and lack of 3rd party integration unless you use SPF and Azure Pack (which is dated and does not support newer OSes). Also, the requirement of RDS adds licensing woes that are not present in most IaaS solutions.

**Recommendations to others considering Virtual Machine Manager:**

Understand the requirements thoroughly. For example, every Tenant Admin in VMM is considered a user and so should be licensed via RDS CALs. There is no GUI and with the introduction of Azure Stack, it is highly unlikely that MS would implement this in the future. So, the only option for your tenants would be to access via RDWeb or Direct RDP login. There is no direct chargeback feature and for that, you require integration with SCOM. Finally, the implementation of Network Virtualization is not straightforward so it has a steep learning curve.

**What problems is Virtual Machine Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Multi-tenancy for a public cloud or private cloud scenario. The most helpful features are network, compute and storage automation. This is fairly straightforward and with the newer versions like 2016 and 2019, the implementation of VxLAN has become pretty straightforward.
