After 100's live streams the service has not failed me once. Even when New York was hit by the hurricane and massive power failures in the city they were able to get the backup system up and running in time for an important conference for all Hyundai Canada dealers. Most of my live streams have 50 to 2000 viewers. But in 2015 I live streamed a Conference for UCC with Edward Snowden from Russia and Glenn Greenwald in Brazil. I won't go into the logistics here on how we accomplished that due to the fact that we couldn't have a traceable stream to reveal Snowden's exact location. What we didn't know was how many viewers we might get. Without a glitch Livestream scaled to over 15,000 viewers that evening. My point is there is a lot of free streaming with Facebook, Youtube etc. which have no guarantee it will work. Clients that request those services I still use Vimeo to feed them and know it will work. Studio 6, best streaming software ever created (I bought a copy) but I miss Producer, the majority of streams are simple and that was ideal to run on all systems. **What do you dislike about Vimeo?** Cloud services we don't use and have no use for online editing. Newly uploaded videos do not automatically appear at the top of your page, and so you have to manually drag every new upload that you want to feature to the top of the page. This is quite time consuming and a bit frustrating, but it's a very small issue in the grand scheme of things, which I'm sure their developers are working on addressing. **What problems is Vimeo solving and how is that benefiting you?** Vimeo allows us to easily collaborate with clients when creating video content for them. They can view videos through private links, leave time-stamped feedback/notes, and download the file directly from Vimeo when we get to the final version. Very handy in this scenario as it's a one-stop shop. Vimeo is also our go-to platform for live streaming events and hosting webinars. Our audio visual team just need a stream key and then can plug directly into the platform. We are also able to watch live stats and monitor the comments directly from the Vimeo backend which is great. ### 12. The Developer API is very well-designed and documented. The live streaming service works very well and is loaded with interactive features for capturing live data from your viewers in real time. Live streaming services include a license for Livestream Studio, which works smoothly with NDI cameras. The customer support is also top-notch. **What do you dislike about Vimeo?** The price point for non-profits is not bad, but it could be better. Vimeo definitely delivered excellent service at a competitive price. Our old streaming service was dropping our live stream feed during the pandemic, but Vimeo never had an issue handling the bandwidth. Other than during the beginning of Covid when streaming was through the roof, we have always been able to get the job done with vimeo. **What do you dislike about Vimeo?** Vimeo's customer service / technical support sucks. there are no quick ways to get an answer to simple questions unless you are in the middle of a live stream. even then it was useless. I don't know if this is still the case but a couple of years ago when streaming a funeral the service went down and customers saw a screen " something's wrong in the magical forest" or something like that. It didn't go over well. Also during the peak times while our business was growing, they claimed unlimited streaming had limits based on other users stats. They would not give me a way to determine what that limit was so we could avoid it. They threatened to shut off the channel, effectively putting us out of business. The process is largely seamless. **What do you dislike about Vimeo?** New way of setting up a live-stream is confusing and kludgy. I much preferred the previous way of setting up a live-stream. Vimeo made assumptions about the live-stream work flow that do not apply to my situation. The revised workflow makes my job more difficult. **What problems is Vimeo solving and how is that benefiting you?** Vimeo is the key component of our outreach to viewers who cannot attend our church services in person. Initially, we used Vimeo during COVID to stay in touch with our members, watching a slimmed-down Sunday Mass. As parishioners are (slowly) returning to the pews, our focus has shifted somewhat to being a platform for outreach and evangelism. While some of our parishioners--generally our shut-ins--still watch us online, we have also accumulated a following from Africa, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. It's great to be able to customize the player with your brand colors, etc. I also love that we control what is shown at the end of the video. With other platforms, they automatically load/play a "related" video, which frequently was from a competitor. With Vimeo, we have a call to action or choose the next video to play. I also love that you can restrict access to the videos as well as restrict where they can be embedded. I also appreciate that I can update the video itself without changing the URL. It's clean and allows for easy embed. Privacy options are superb -- you can hide and archive videos at ease or provide private viewings with a password. It succeeds YouTube in that regard. **What do you dislike about Vimeo?** If you're serious about video uploading, you basically have to pay for Vimeo. The free version only allows a certain number of MB uploads a week, which is nearly next to nothing for video uploads. The other down side, is that while embed is easy, it's also limiting. The quality is excellent, as is the storage and ease of use. We particularly liked that it is a clean interface for the user as there are no adverts before or after and so the attention of the viewer is not directed away after they have watched our content. This was particularly important to us as we are offering people meditation classes and wanted it to be a peaceful, non-distracting experience. It was helpful to be able to schedule live streams with unique links to send to people and to change the visibility of the links as needed. Eg to make private after a week. The one downside was the price, so as our needs changed, and we streamed less we could no longer justify the cost as a charity and now meet all our streaming needs with zoom. If it wasn't for that we would have loved to continue with vimeo. **What do you dislike about Vimeo?** That they did not offer charity discounts and that the price is so high for livestreaming. **What problems is Vimeo solving and how is that benefiting you?** It helped us solve the problem of being locked down and unable to have physical in person classes and enabled us to reach a wide geographic area in the North of Scotland. ### 35.
