"Vevox has revolutionised our university lectures"

What do you like best about Vevox?

We use the Q&A feature the most as it is used throughout all lectures in real-time allowing students to ask questions without interrupting the flow of the lecture (we deliver 2-person lectures where one lectures and one manages the Q&A). We get positive feedback about our module and students comment on how much they like Vevox. The new feature allowing polls to be integrated directly into PowerPoint slides means that we will be making much more use of polls as we will no longer need to stop and start the lecture slides to deliver a poll. We also like the fact that Vevox is incredibly easy to learn and implement and can be used almost immediately with hardly any training, there's almost no learning curve. Customer support is excellent with prompt responses including a major improvement implemented as the result of our request that has significantly improved the way that we handle Q&A. We use it in every single lecture and have done for almost 2 years now.

What do you dislike about Vevox?

Nothing, it's an excellent resource, there's nothing significant to dislike. There are a couple of minor update requests that I've submitted (1) the ability to post moderated questions immediately to the published folder without the interim steps of moving it and (2) the ability to share every session with named colleagues without having to manually share each one. But these are very minor niggles.

What problems is Vevox solving and how is that benefiting you?

It solves the issue of students not understanding a concept in a lecture and then struggling to understand the concepts that follow. Student get immediate answers.

"A platform that can bring a lecture to life"

What do you like best about Vevox?

There are so many options of interactive activities that can be delivered using Vevox. Just need to mix Vevox with some creativity.

The fact that instant data can be collected and reviewed later is extremely useful for teaching.

Vevox quizzes can be easily implemented in PowerPoint and this a great feature. Quizzes can be tailored as an integral part of a lecture with easy recall questions, a series of related analytical questions or even an open text question to allow students to ask questions throughout a teaching session.

What do you dislike about Vevox?

When creating a pin-on-an-image question, the area for the correct answer can only be defined using a circular or oval shape. Other shapes would be useful as well.

What problems is Vevox solving and how is that benefiting you?

Vevox is a tool that offers an equal oppotunity for every student to participate or ask questions regardless of confidence, personality or language barrier.

"Student engagement in real or virtual time!"

What do you like best about Vevox?

There are so many different ways of getting students involved - from wordclouds to multiple-choice, even a Pin on Image option which I use as a sorting activity. It is really intuitive and easy to use - I use it with my students several times a week, never getting bored because of the options, and I also spend time within my role at the university showing colleagues how Vevox works and they always go away enthused and full of ideas as to how they can use it with their students.

The students really enjoy it because of the range of activities and also because they don't have to create accounts and give over any personal information; at our university, we use Microsoft Teams and we can embed the Vevox activity within the module team so that students don't even have to go hunting for Vevox on their phones.

It can also sit within PowerPoint so you can operate it directly from your presentation rather than having to exit and go to a separate web page!

Not only that, but you can edit and re-use past polls and so you never have to spend time reinventing the wheel.

To be honest, I've only once had to contact customer service, but they were charming and helpful AND were able to answer my question - what a change from some support desks!

What do you dislike about Vevox?

I honestly can't think of one - it does exactly what it says on the tin and exactly what I need/want it to do!

What problems is Vevox solving and how is that benefiting you?

How to get your students to engage with questions? And in way that makes them think? How do you make sure they are all taking part? and how do you check their learning and make sure that they are all enga? By enabling me to design a range of different activities it means that my students never get bored and I can see that they are all taking part and can check on their status. All in one easy place!

"Vevox is simple, effective and reliable"

What do you like best about Vevox?

Vevox is simple, intuitive, and reliable - important things when using a tool live with students. The whole cycle of designing, creating, running and analysing is actually enjoyable.

What do you dislike about Vevox?

It doesn't do the washing up. No, but seriously, there's nothing bad about it at all.

What problems is Vevox solving and how is that benefiting you?

Crowdsourcing ideas from large groups of people. I am a design researcher. Vevox allows me to work with big groups and get them really engaged.

"Great application for adding interaction to your synchronous or asynchronous activities"

What do you like best about Vevox?

There are plenty of great features - polling, surveys, quizzes, Q&A management that help to accent courses and teaching in a variety of ways. You can make it as formal or as informal as you want. Students love using their own devices to respond and the option to make it anonymous helps to give confidence in responding if necessary.

What do you dislike about Vevox?

There are a few areas which could be developed further but I believe there is plenty in the pipe-line. Many people ask for it to be 'more like Kahoot' but then we like the more 'mature' feel to Vevox for our HE students. They have mentioned about adding music and other question developments which will be welcomed.

What problems is Vevox solving and how is that benefiting you?

For sessions and conferences, we don't have any other tool for handling or managing Q&A and so this works perfectly for what we need and it's so easy to use.

It also helps if staff want to create polls in advance of a session without having to rely on logging into other systems or go through other platforms (even though it can be integrated where we need).

"Vevox and the pedagogy webinars - fabulous inspiration"

What do you like best about Vevox?

Firstly, Vevox is so easy to use. The dashboard is intuitive, and it's so quick to set up and share questions. I like the range of question types and just LOVE the pedagogy webinars. If you work in education and are keen to focus, engage, challenge, and enthuse your students, then you should really watch these!

In the webinars, academics share how they have used Vevox to really make a difference with their students. This isn't just about gadgets - they are creative and thoughtful educators, and their ideas are inspirational. They have understood the challenges for their students (not engaging, not focusing, feeling lost, not having a voice, doing the minimum...), and they've used Vevox to make a difference.

These are the kind of things they share... Vevox is anonymous and, as some students prefer to raise questions or answer this way, they find out more and give more students a voice. Word clouds are great for starting discussions in class, so it doesn't have to be a silent (or remote) experience. Set questions to find out how students are getting on, not just what they know - this helps us better understand them and their challenges.

And it's not just multiple choice - academics have made a real impact on the quality of learning by engaging students in co-creating their modules or diving into independent learning projects. In each case, Vevox has facilitated the process, and the users found that the (easy peasy) export options helped them capture responses and ideas to take things forward.

Thanks to the brilliant team at Vevox for organising and sharing - thanks guys! And particular thanks to Fraser Hill and Brogan Milligan, our own contacts. They genuinely feel like part of our extended team rather than customer support at an external company. Vevox does this so well!!

What do you dislike about Vevox?

I've got quite a few sessions on my dashboard, so it would be handy to tidy them up with some kind of folder system - this is just me!

What problems is Vevox solving and how is that benefiting you?

I work with academics in HE. Using Vevox is one of the ways that we can find out how students are getting along with their learning.
