## Redgate Data Modeler Reviews
  ### 1. Redgate Data Modeler Simplifies Schema Design and Speeds Up Database Changes

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Muhammed A. | Technical Project Manager , Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Redgate Data Modeler?**

Redgate Data Modeler has made designing and visualizing our database schema much more manageable, especially as our platform's data model grew to include trips, wallets, escrow, and accounting entries across multiple related tables. The interface makes it easy to see relationships between tables at a glance, which has helped catch design issues before they became actual migration headaches. Being able to generate schema changes directly from the visual model has sped up how quickly we can implement structural updates, and version control integration has kept schema changes tracked alongside our regular development workflow rather than living separately from the codebase.

**What do you dislike about Redgate Data Modeler?**

The learning curve for getting comfortable with the tool's full feature set took some time, especially for team members used to designing schemas directly in SQL rather than visually. Performance can slow down a bit when working with very large, complex schemas with many interconnected tables. Pricing considerations become more relevant as the team grows, and some advanced customization for less common database features required workarounds compared to writing raw SQL directly.

**What problems is Redgate Data Modeler solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Redgate Data Modeler has made it much easier to design and evolve our database schema thoughtfully, catching relationship and structure issues visually before they turn into costly migration problems. This has improved how confidently we can make structural changes to our data model as the platform's accounting and trip-tracking logic has grown more complex over time.

  ### 2. Intuitive Visual Modeling That Streamlines Database Design and Documentation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Atharva S. | SRE, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2026

**What do you like best about Redgate Data Modeler?**

What I like best about Redgate Data Modeler is its ability to simplify database design and documentation through an intuitive visual interface. Creating, modifying, and maintaining data models is straightforward, making it much easier to understand complex database structures and collaborate with team members. I also appreciate features like schema comparison, model validation, reverse engineering, and comprehensive documentation, which help reduce manual effort and improve accuracy. Overall, the platform streamlines database development, enhances collaboration, and provides a reliable way to design and manage databases efficiently.

**What do you dislike about Redgate Data Modeler?**

One area where Redgate Data Modeler could improve is offering more customization for diagrams, reporting, and collaboration features, especially for larger enterprise projects. While the interface is generally intuitive, navigating very large or complex data models can occasionally become cumbersome. I'd also like to see broader integrations with additional development and project management tools, along with more advanced automation for repetitive modeling tasks. Overall, the platform has been reliable, but enhanced collaboration capabilities, richer visualization options, and greater workflow flexibility would make it even more valuable for database design teams.

**What problems is Redgate Data Modeler solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Redgate Data Modeler solves the challenge of designing, documenting, and maintaining complex database schemas by providing a centralized visual environment for data modeling. Instead of manually managing database structures and documentation, it enables teams to create, reverse engineer, validate, and update data models with greater accuracy and consistency. Its visual modeling capabilities, schema comparison features, and documentation tools simplify collaboration between developers, database administrators, and stakeholders. This has reduced manual effort, minimized design errors, improved database consistency, accelerated development, and made it easier to manage database changes throughout the project lifecycle.

  ### 3. Clean, Intuitive UI That Makes Database Modeling Simple and Efficient

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manish K. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Redgate Data Modeler?**

What I like most is the clean, easy-to-understand UI. It makes database modeling feel straightforward, and the overall workflow stays smooth without becoming overly complicated. I also appreciate how well it fits into existing Redgate workflows, keeping the focus on getting the job done efficiently.

**What do you dislike about Redgate Data Modeler?**

Some features could be easier to locate and more intuitive to use. The pricing can feel a bit high for smaller teams, particularly when you’re weighing it against other options. I’d also like to see the product add more genuinely useful AI-powered features over time.

**What problems is Redgate Data Modeler solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This tool makes database modeling and design much easier to manage. It helps me visualize relationships more clearly and reduces mistakes during development. Overall, it saves me time and makes it easier to plan database changes.

  ### 4. Clean, User-Friendly Tools That Speed Up SQL and Schema Comparisons

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Redgate Data Modeler?**

The best thing I like about this Redgate Data Modeller platform is how it simplifies routine database work, even without taking control away from the users. Also, their SQL prompt makes the writing and formatting queries much faster and SQL compare is very useful when checking schema differences between environments, which becomes a major value add on. Their interface is also very clean, and more features are easy to understand even without spending too much time on setup or any onboarding training. This makes the overall platform performance very clean and good.

**What do you dislike about Redgate Data Modeler?**

Their main drawback is the pricing, where multiple products are required for a larger team, and some of their advanced configuration also takes time to understand, and the number of separate products can initially make it difficult to decide whether tools are actually necessary. A more unified licensing and product experience would make this adoption much easier. And integration with 3rd party platform should be more polished and extensive.

**What problems is Redgate Data Modeler solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This platform helps us by reducing the manual effort involved in writing SQL and comparing it with other database environment along with deploying changes, and identifying performance-based problems as well. It also makes it much easier to catch schema differences before deployment and to investigate database issues using clearer monitoring and diagnostic information. Overall, this saves time and reduces the avoidable deployment errors and gives our team more confidence when moving database changes between the development or event testing and production.

  ### 5. Impressive tool for visual data modelling

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Redgate Data Modeler?**

The ability to create data models visually through an easy-to-use interface has been beneficial for us. It has helped in creating data models faster and more efficiently. Further, we also do collaborative modeling in teams, so this tool has helped us there too. We also do not need to write DDL scripts; the device takes care of them automatically.

**What do you dislike about Redgate Data Modeler?**

The reverse compatibility of the software can be improved a bit. Although this is not a dealbreaker for us, some of our teams use other software incompatible with this tool. Also, the pricing could be adjusted a bit.

**What problems is Redgate Data Modeler solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to create visual data models just through a drag-and-drop interface is the most significant advantage of this software. The ability to collaborate while creating these data models is also of enormous benefit, which allows us to make the models better and faster. We also do not need to run DDL scripts manually, as the system takes care of them automatically.

  ### 13. Streamline and Powerful

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Redgate Data Modeler?**

I love that Vertabelo is easy to use and also a powerful tool. I love that I can easily create ERD diagrams and export the entities for my projects. I used this tool for my intro to database course, and as a beginner, I was able to create tables complete with primary keys, foreign keys, and relationships mapped out. I could easily see this tool being used for more complex projects than an intro to databases course.

**What do you dislike about Redgate Data Modeler?**

The UI is clunky and unintuitive at times. I sometimes found it challenging to navigate between menus and change specific attributes. Using the platform requires a lot of point-and-click. I would greatly appreciate the option to use hotkey shortcuts to make the modeling process faster.

**What problems is Redgate Data Modeler solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vertabelo allows me to build complete ERD diagrams and then translate those ERD diagrams into actual SQL tables. This tool speeds up the tedious process of making tables and then mapping out the relationships between them.

This online tool helped my team more than once. On the other hand, some users might find this online feature as a disadvantage; again, in my opinion, as a project leader, it is an awesome feature.

**What problems is Redgate Data Modeler solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our team members were able to access the data model anytime and from anywhere. This feature speeded up the designing phase of the databases, which helped in faster software delivery.

**What do you like best about Redgate Data Modeler?**

I like the available resources to design a data schema and how them is used to the data model.

**What do you dislike about Redgate Data Modeler?**

I don't like the query execution, it is too long and you cannot optimized. So the info es there but not all the time or not with the same speed than others.

**What problems is Redgate Data Modeler solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It let me design my data schemas and then implementing in a data structure. It's useful to have simple views of the data organization.
