It doesn't require any design skills, which works great for me since I'm not a designer but know what I want. VEED is cloud-based and functions as expected without needing hours of training. Adding subtitles is very easy and the tool automatically adds them, so I only need to make minor corrections, saving me a lot of time. The initial setup was very easy too. **What do you dislike about VEED?** There is a lot here. It's a great tool, but I feel like the AI features are half thought out. For example, when creating AI clips on VEED it makes you upload a video from scratch or use a YouTube URL, you cannot use videos in your existing VEED account (which wastes a lot of time uploading). Then for the AI clips feature it reduces the video quality, which means in the end I just do the editing manually. And finally, probably most annoyingly, when using the AI clips feature, it chooses when to start and cut the clip, but if I want to include the few seconds before or after what it has selected, it's not possible, so in the end I do it manually. It's a feature which is a 4/10 now, but if they listened to customer feedback could be a 10/10 feature. They gave me the Lite version but I started by testing the free version. Personally there is not a lot of reasons why I would recommend Veed, except for a very few circumstances, that being: • You are a small business and don't want to hire (pay a lot) someone to make professional videos • You don't want to spend a lot of time learning a new piece of software to make some quick videos • You don't mind using or can use stock videos to portray what you want to show • And you want an online video editor that can be accessed (almost?) anywhere there is internet as opposed to downloading a piece of software This is because Veed is a simple video editor with a clean and straight forward user interface that is easy to pick up immediately. It's a WYSIWYG editor with a straight forward timeline and editing process (click and drag). For a simple editor like Veed, it has some nice features like allowing you to move one frame at a time, and showing the time stamp down to the millisecond. One feature I like (and I can see others like it too) is the auto subtitling. This saves a lot of time. I like that it supports a lot of languages. For those who complain about this: I understand they can't support every single language in the world, but for what it is, it does a good job. The auto subtitling saves a lot of time. But it's really not enough for me to actively recommend Veed. I liked that I could try it without signing up, in fact, it was the only reason I started using it, because when I was looking for something to complete the task that the business owner wanted me to do (create some videos with AI), I saw that Veed supposedly creates videos with AI and was able to test it without signing up to yet another platform just to test it. Other nice features are, for a simple video editor, it also has some interesting effects, like even zooming, and fade transitions for video clips. You can change the speed of the video clips which is appreciated. It's also convenient to have access to the stock video and music library in one place, and you can click on them and insert them directly to your timeline, as opposed to if you were using a dedicated video editor like Avid Media Composer or Kdenlive where you have to import them. You can also import your own files (videos, audio, images). It has a built in screen recorder which is helpful. I also like that it has an affiliate program that benefits both the referrer and the referee. **What do you dislike about VEED?** I am sorry, but there are just too many things I dislike about Veed. There are truly so many glitches. My god, so many. Glitches: It was easy to pick up after I tested it initially without signing up, and it looked more promising than all of the other ones I tried for AI video creation, so I didn't know about them then. After using Veed almost daily for many months, there are just so many glitches I face daily that makes it a frustrating experience to use it. Some of the glitches are: • Mispronunciations. Veed creates a video from a prompt that you give, and the video is narrated based on the topic in the prompt. This is not text to speech, which is fine, but then there are strange pronunciations for various things, especially numbers. This happened regardless of the language (I used English and Mandarin). For example, for the number 820, it says in English "Eight and twenty" which is really strange. The Chinese videos also had weird speech at the end of one video that made no sense at all. I told Veed customer service and they said this is a known issue. The thing that annoys me is if you want to fix one thing, you have to re-generate the entire thing (this is true for text to speech too, which is a separate paid feature) and can use up your allotted quota for that feature. I don't use their built in text to speech function since their computer generated speech sounds robotic, as many others have mentioned, and I fond a better alternative anyway. But for the video's built in narration, it sounds robotic and sometimes has errors. Regenerating a new video will create a completely different one, and the prompt isn't a script and won't dictate the exact words that are pronounced. • I've been encountering issues where Veed freezes and then crashes when I copy and paste in Simplified Chinese Hanyu script for the subtitles - sometimes the automatically generated subtitles use the wrong characters which is understandable since it's a computer and not human, and Chinese has a lot of homonyms. I have a script that I use to generate text to speech elsewhere that sounds better than Veed's text to speech function, then upload that audio file, then use Veed's auto subtitling feature. When the Chinese characters are wrong, I copy and paste the prepared script into the subtitles, and this causes Veed to freeze. Upon speaking with Veed CS, it seems the problem might be due to the special punctuation symbols in Chinese text, so I have avoided that and it hasn't happened since. Just putting it out there in case it helps anyone. Also, for the English transcription, it leaves out some words sometimes, and the audio file is clearly spoken by a text to speech software, so it's not like it can't recognise varying human speech. So I have to go back and proof reed everything. • Lately (in the past few weeks) I have encountered a glitch where it doesn't work on certain computers (my work Windows 11 computer on an up to date Chrome and Edge browser). I had to use an alternative computer (a Windows 10 computer with an up to date Chrome browser) to use Veed. These issues include not being able to log in, and not being able to upload audio files at all. • Also in the past few weeks, I've come across an issue that happens on any computer, where when I add a music track, the music track suddenly disappears by itself. after I make my video, I add a music track by finding one in their stock music library. It inserts where the playhead is on the timeline, then when I click on the timeline at a different spot to listen to it, the music track disappears completely - you can't even hear it anymore. Customer service: • The customer service are responsive, I will give them credit for that. But their advice isn't exactly helpful. It seems they don't know how to fix the problems either, and I never hear back with an actual solution, with that one exception of the Chinese punctuation symbols. For example, I've encountered a glitch where two different music tracks were inserted when I only clicked on one, and when you play it, you hear both, even though only one audio file shows visually on one track on the timeline. The CS solution was to duplicated "a few times" and it might work then. That's not exactly a professional solution. And I found the solution myself - for some reason, on Veed, the clips are allowed to overlap each other on the same track, this happened to the audio track and so you only see one but hear both. The solution was to click on the one you see and drag it to another track or outwards till the underlying track shows. It seems Veed is more focused on pushing out more and more AI tools than actually fixing the issues they already have and improving user experience. Other issues: • I tested some of the AI tools, like image generation and the Avatar function and the character function. I am sorry but they are atrocious. I wish I had saved more of the AI generated photos, but in the ones I included, you can see that it spelt "Australia" without the letter "r". The other one has the letter "i" in lowercase on a supposedly government building and looks silly and out of place. One of the worst ones I came across was a man with three arms and hands holding up a sheet of paper on three sides of the paper (left, right and then bottom) simultaneously. The Avatar - I used a pre-existing one and it's very robotic. The Character doesn't mouth all the words - I just knew it was too impossible to be true (to generate mouth actions to lip sync to words you put). It only lets you put in 90 words anyway so is pretty useless. • Not sure if this is a glitch or by design, but in the timeline, when you click on the subtitles track, the images in the timeline disappear. It makes it difficult to see if you left a gap there on purpose or if it just doesn't show visually. It only comes back if you click on the images option in the panels on the left hand side specifically (see screenshot). • Veed has multilingual user interface (you can change the language) but you can only search for the stock videos in English, which doesn't bother me, but what I do have an issue with is that the stock videos are mostly American. I make videos for a migration consultancy and all the passports are American, and the vast majority of the featured physical money is US currency. When I want an Australian passport, the best I can do is getting an Australian flag. See my point below. • Veed is really just an online video editor, it is not an AI video generator. What it actually does is generates a video project based on a prompt you give it (say, "Make me a video about how to make lasagna") and it automatically inserts stock videos that match this topic (so, for example, videos of people chopping vegetables, stirfrying meat mince, pouring a can of tomatoes). If you rely on their automatic process, you won't get very good videos at all, so you have to put in a lot of work. So you're really just paying to use an online video editor that has built in access to stock videos and music. And I am not so impressed that the stock videos only have two sources, of which one is a free source (Pexels), so you're essentially paying for a free source. Veed uses external stock video sources so they can't control the content, so I don't think you're getting a good deal if you consider this and my previous point. It would be better if they had other sources like Adobe or Shutterstock. If you use your own video files and hardly any or none at all stock videos and music, then it's not worth paying for, so for me essentially, I am only using Veed to access the paid stock videos. **What problems is VEED solving and how is that benefiting you?** Nothing much. I was asked by a small business to make AI generated videos for speed (as opposed to making them manually). At first I thought Veed does this. Since it doesn't, it doesn't really solve any problems for me, but we just stay with it since we already started using it. I guess the only benefit is that it has built-in access to a stock video library. ### 9. I also really want to provide subtitles for accessibility for my followers but because I have a British accent (quite a generic one), the auto generated subtitles are often wrong, they also can't seem to tell the difference between a noun or a verb for altered spelling (ie practice/practise). **What problems is VEED solving and how is that benefiting you?** I do need video content for social media and for my app, and VEED allows me to edit the videos quite easily (with a little bit of computer literacy but no video editing expertise). ### 44. E.g. working an a video series, initially veed automatically uploaded two vides split screen side by side, which was great. Subsequent video this was not available and was told by customer support that it had been taken down. It does what i need with saving time. **What do you dislike about VEED?** This is something new that Veed has started doing, which is limiting various actions by minutes and notifying you that you're not eligible for certain features until after you've finished editing. It's frustrating. For example, translating a person speaking from English to French — the Professional license is only entitled to 15 minutes per month, and I only discovered this after uploading and editing the video. **What problems is VEED solving and how is that benefiting you?** I don't need to master video editing, Veed does it for me. ### 47.
