What do you like best?

We like absolutely everything about Veeam, it's extremely easy to deploy, extremely easy to use and extremely easy to manage. It always work and never fail. For an IT administrator like me, this product is the most "worry-free" software solution of my entire IT infrastructure. When I need to recover datas from backup, Veeam is always here to help me. We are totally amazed also to see how the data-deduplication and compression features inside Veeam are powerful because it decreased backup and replication times a lot! The integration with Veeam Cloud Connect (online cloud storage) is also amazing and definitely fits ours business needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

We don't have much to complain about Veeam, the only thing we currently have problem with at first deployment is that the software is do huge on ressources that if you don't set throttling rules/schedule, you can completely drain all system ressources of the entire servers infrastructure during backup and replication sequence. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Veeam products are outstanding and the quality of the company's support makes it the perfect solution for backup and replication in your organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We formerly performed backup using a file copy level script, which is very slow and long because it have to compare all files. Now with Veeam we have 10x more efficient backup as it's working with block changes tracking. We also gained a way longer backup retention period because of the amazing features of deduplication and data compression. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Good, logical wizard driven interface making it simple to create and configure jobs. Good level of information provided during and after jobs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The inability to have the product detect new VM's on hosts and make suggestions for adding them into an existing job.

Inability for Veeam to detect when a VM has been powered off for a set duration and exclude it from backup job/s.

Both would be incredibly helpful.

The new licensing model is convoluted, unclear and now makes purchasing your product more expensive for most. Compared with the competition Veeam is now a very expensive product and I'm aware of multiple vendors who are recommending alternatives purely based on cost/better value.

Similarly, the inability to add more 'packs' of licences to your existing subscription is odd and means you end up with more than one renewal date, again, not helpful and off-putting. Certainly something to reconsider and find a solution to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Ensure you have the relevant admin credentials for all your VM's and where possible standardise them. It'll make your life much easier when administering the product. We encountered and still do encounter headaches due to the complexity of our environment, namely being an edtech business with so many VM's and workloads to protect.

Structure your jobs so you have high levels of retention periods across dailies for x days, weeklies for x weeks and monthlies for x months. Also ensure you have an offsite and full mitigation and DR/BCP plan which is regularly tested. More important for some businesses with specific requirements, compliance needs etc than others. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Ability to have an offsite backup for DR and full bare metal backups of all VM's with great retention periods. Also we now have much improved RPO and RTO's. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

We moved from an MSP tierd backup solution. I didnt realize how slow that service was until I tried Veeam. Speed is everything when you want to recover from a backup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The UI isnt very intuitive, I wish they'd spend more time on the wizards and verbiage. Sometimes I have to re-read a screen several times to be sure I know what I'm doing is right. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

This is a great product, its easy to manage and easy to setup. Just spend some time reading online documentation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We needed a fast offsite backup solution. What we used before took hours and used a lot of our bandwidth. With Veeam we were able to reduce the time our uploads take by 70% Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The setup is easy to do and well documented, if you ever deploy backup systems from other vendor you will know it can be really difficult to do the initial setup and configuration. The setup is straightforward and there's nothing I could not figure out by just reading the online documentation. The data deduplication and compression is pretty good, even if your storage array doesn't support this feature, it's done on the Veeam server itself. You can send local backup to AWS directly, that's a real plus for us to be able to have off-prem backup copies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I would like Veeam Backup & Replication to have an integrated functionnality to generate reports of all the backup jobs and copy jobs at once, it seem to be a feature available only if you install Veeam ONE. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We had different softwares to take backups of our systems, I installed Veeam Backup & Replication to centralize the backups and to deduplicate the data, I'm really pleased with the result. We reduced the total backup size by at least 1/3 by configuring Veeam properly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Backup and replication jobs creation is very straightforward. We can create backup jobs, and replication jobs as well as tape jobs. We can schedule backup jobs as we want. The portal clearly shows the status of backup jobs. So it is easy for us to determine if there is an issue. The reporting feature is excellent and offers a brief description of all backup jobs in the past several months. The backup restoration process is also easy. We were able to restore a backup without any issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes customer service response time is slow, and it needs to be improved. Need to improve service level agreement about providing technical support quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

You can customise the solution according to your requirements and the infrastructure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

When considering data centre backup solutions, Veeam backup and replication are among the best solutions in the industry. We have critical data, and so needed a reliable backup solution. Otherwise, it will be a disaster for us if the datacenter failed and we have no backups. After conducting many kinds of research, and based on recommendations, management decided to choose Veeam backup and replication. They provided a reliable backup solution for a reasonable price. Pre-sales team is ok, and the deployment team did a great job according to our infrastructure and requirements. When considering technical support, there was some time to provide a solution quickly. As of today, we never faced any significant issue with this product, and overall experience with this product is excellent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Out of all backup solutions that we have used, Veeam has been the easiest to use/maintain. The setup was seamless and it has not required us to fix any issues since we started using it. It is also the cheapest option that we found. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The setup process was lengthy. It took 2+ hours for the initial setup and configuration. However, since then, we have not had any disruptions to our backup service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

During your consultation with the sales rep, make sure you cover all current and planned future assets that will require backup so that your licensing is tailored to your current and future use. The licensing is very inexpensive so plan ahead. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our previous backup service frequently failed because of various issues. Veeam has solved all of those issues and has been flawless ever since the installation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Having used Veeam at a couple of different organisations, I have been very happy with the product. Mainly using the virtual machine backup tools, I find that this is simply a must have for virtual environments. The granularity of the restores is particularly helpful, especially when dealing with large file systems. The GUI for the B&R app is simple to use and setting up new back up tasks is pretty straight forward. It does take a little while to get used to how they set up their backups, using the 3 2 1 method, but once you have an understanding of that, it become vital to the backup operations. When compared to other backup products I've used from other vendors, the choice to me is quite clear to use Veeam. I've found other backup products tend to have clunky UIs and sometimes unreliable backups. I'm also a fan of backup to disk and cloud over tape, which often can cause it's own problems. The speed of restore from Veeam is another benefit that I've found to be really helpful, as often when a user reports a file is missing they need it back immediately. Something that's not always possible when dealing with tape backups, even though Veeam can do that as well. I had used this previously to back up physical machines as well, when dealing with older 2003 servers that had yet to be decommissioned. That resolved a lot of headaches to keep us going through until they were migrated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

They can sting you with their support contract pricing. It's important to keep on top of that otherwise you'll end up with a large bill. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Check the terms on the support contracts and it works best if all your servers are virtual. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It's used for the general day to day backup of most servers and provides an easy way to restore files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Veeam is very easy to setup and use. I installed it on my server and setup my Backup Repository on a NAS and my backup nodes easily right from the server. Multiple configuration options are available to cover any need. Options to store on the cloud as well. I have used many backup solutions over my 35 year career in IT, Veeam is excellent in every aspect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Not much to dislike about Veeam, maybe a slightly easier interface, some options are a bit buried but a quick look at the manual or google search did the trick. (I had to move my backup configuration file which was not easily found) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Try the Community Edition and find out for your self. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Recovery of individual files is fast and simple. Backups are reliable. They offer the offloading of backups to a cloud provider, but it's not super intuitive. There's a free local computer backup agent to backup local PCs to the same location as our cluster. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

There is reliance on a local storage medium at the moment. The functionality around SOBR did not seem well documented unless you work with a third party vendor such as Exagrid. There was quite a bit of tuning required to get our large backups to fully dedupe as expected. We've been attempting to expand our licensing and have had difficulty getting an engineer on the phone to discuss our needs. Licensing for anything beyond 6 CPU sockets is a large jump. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Speak with a storage vendor at the same time. Their integrations and engineering support with Exagrid, Dell, or HPE are top notch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are backing up a VMware cluster environment. Primary use is file recovery for a large 7TB file server and a 500GB git solution. Our backups are much more reliable than our previous product and recovery of those files is very simple and I've never had an issue restoring an individual file. It just works with no of the hassle that the opposition's items have. It is reasonably estimated and is constantly refined. Straightforward and easy to utilize interface that actually works! You need not bother with a PHD to be a specialist at replication. We utilize this feature all an opportunity to move clients starting with one location then onto the next or into our cloud. Easy to execute, manage, design and reestablish backups, from virtual machines to physicals workers, also from an agent that runs persistently on the workers. In this manner, it has some sort of excellent features, the record traveler alternative is awesome, and it is an all-around actualized granular reestablish answer for documents, which works even with Linux and Exchange workers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

There is not a lot to hate about it. Paying for licensing through a third party vendor is a bit of an issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Veeam is very client arranged. They help from the second they are engaged. They blossom with consumer loyalty and achievement. What do you like best?

I've used Veeam since back in the mid 2000's in one form or another. It's progressively gotten better and better. Additionally, the new rollback feature is stellar as is being able to test in a test environment outside of production. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

There isn't much. Mostly small nit picks like the job delete and edit button are right beside each other in the right click menu although there is a confirmation prompt so you don't accidentally delete a job but they're still a little close for comfort. I also would like a way to delete backup chains from within the B&R console rather than in the raw data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Veeam is easy to configure but in the effort to only do it once, learn more of the features and everything going in and you'll be further ahead. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Aside from reconfiguration here and there it really makes my backups pretty automatic especially with Surebackup making sure my backups are going to actually work should I need them. I am able to set different retention periods for different servers so more important jobs can be run more often to minimize the amount of lost data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Ease of use. Top notch support. It just works without any of the hassle that the competition's products have. It's reasonably priced and is constantly refined. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Not much. Sometimes there are growing pains during bigger upgrades but never to a point that will totally break my configurations. Fails could have better descriptions and information about what caused the fails, but nothing serious. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Don't waste time looking elsewhere. If you have a primarily virtual platform, whether on-site or SaaS based nothing comes close. Competitors will tell you how great they are. Try them out. Use the trials. You'll find yourself ending up with Veeam. Backups will no longer be a hassle. You'll be able to spend more time on other projects and tasks because it just works. It;s the best VM solution on the market, by far. Try it out. It's great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

None at this time. Using a newer backup to tape option for archiving was a bit troublesome but it's since been resolved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The best thing about Veeam is the reliability and the recovery speed it provides. When I use it, I am sure I can recover my data (with regular tests of the backups and following Veeam 3-2-1 rule). The recovery speed is amaizing - seconds! Try "instant VM recovery" if you don't believe.

Veeam supports tape archiving and has a very friendly management interface. In the rare cases when I needed additional help with the software, Veeam support team was outstanding, helpful, and engaged. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Veeam is a real Business Continuity technology.
