It is so easy to setup and get a backup you know works! The reintroduction of self managed cloud backup is a welcome change as well Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It would be nice if we could backup directly from our Synology NAS Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Backup and replication jobs creation is very straightforward. We can create backup jobs, and replication jobs as well as tape jobs. We can schedule backup jobs as we want. The portal clearly shows the status of backup jobs. So it is easy for us to determine if there is an issue. The reporting feature is excellent and offers a brief description of all backup jobs in the past several months. The backup restoration process is also easy. We were able to restore a backup without any issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes customer service response time is slow, and it needs to be improved. Need to improve service level agreement about providing technical support quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Having used Veeam at a couple of different organisations, I have been very happy with the product. Mainly using the virtual machine backup tools, I find that this is simply a must have for virtual environments. The granularity of the restores is particularly helpful, especially when dealing with large file systems. The GUI for the B&R app is simple to use and setting up new back up tasks is pretty straight forward. It does take a little while to get used to how they set up their backups, using the 3 2 1 method, but once you have an understanding of that, it become vital to the backup operations. When compared to other backup products I've used from other vendors, the choice to me is quite clear to use Veeam. I've found other backup products tend to have clunky UIs and sometimes unreliable backups. I'm also a fan of backup to disk and cloud over tape, which often can cause it's own problems. The speed of restore from Veeam is another benefit that I've found to be really helpful, as often when a user reports a file is missing they need it back immediately. Something that's not always possible when dealing with tape backups, even though Veeam can do that as well. I had used this previously to back up physical machines as well, when dealing with older 2003 servers that had yet to be decommissioned. That resolved a lot of headaches to keep us going through until they were migrated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
They can sting you with their support contract pricing. It's important to keep on top of that otherwise you'll end up with a large bill. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Veeam is very easy to setup and use. I installed it on my server and setup my Backup Repository on a NAS and my backup nodes easily right from the server. Multiple configuration options are available to cover any need. Options to store on the cloud as well. I have used many backup solutions over my 35 year career in IT, Veeam is excellent in every aspect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not much to dislike about Veeam, maybe a slightly easier interface, some options are a bit buried but a quick look at the manual or google search did the trick. (I had to move my backup configuration file which was not easily found) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Recovery of individual files is fast and simple. Backups are reliable. They offer the offloading of backups to a cloud provider, but it's not super intuitive. There's a free local computer backup agent to backup local PCs to the same location as our cluster. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is reliance on a local storage medium at the moment. The functionality around SOBR did not seem well documented unless you work with a third party vendor such as Exagrid. There was quite a bit of tuning required to get our large backups to fully dedupe as expected. We've been attempting to expand our licensing and have had difficulty getting an engineer on the phone to discuss our needs. Licensing for anything beyond 6 CPU sockets is a large jump. Veeam Availability Suite is Veeam's flagship backup arrangement that enables data security, management, and insight that is straightforward, adaptable and reliable. This extensive suite engages organizations with advanced capabilities and integral assets to achieve their goals of 100% data assurance with High Availability and diminished personal time. Organizations, from small startups to the largest ventures, embark on similar excursions for keeping their data ensured, available and very much managed. Ease of utilization. First class uphold. It just works with no of the hassle that the opposition's items have. It is reasonably estimated and is constantly refined. Straightforward and easy to utilize interface that actually works! You need not bother with a PHD to be a specialist at replication. We utilize this feature all an opportunity to move clients starting with one location then onto the next or into our cloud. Easy to execute, manage, design and reestablish backups, from virtual machines to physicals workers, also from an agent that runs persistently on the workers. In this manner, it has some sort of excellent features, the record traveler alternative is awesome, and it is an all-around actualized granular reestablish answer for documents, which works even with Linux and Exchange workers. There is not a lot to hate about it. Paying for licensing through a third party vendor is a bit of an issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Veeam Backup is perfect automated Disaster Recovery tool, we helps to move the bulk data to another place, very user friendly software, we have been using this tool more than three years. Ability to work with any kind of virtualization platforms such as VMware, Microsoft. implementation and maintenance is very easy. Also Veeam Backup solution sends the notification once the Job is completed, which helps lot to know the backup status Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing to dislike, As we are happy with Veeam software features, But comparing with other products veeam prices is quite high. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I've used Veeam since back in the mid 2000's in one form or another. It's progressively gotten better and better. Additionally, the new rollback feature is stellar as is being able to test in a test environment outside of production. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There isn't much. Mostly small nit picks like the job delete and edit button are right beside each other in the right click menu although there is a confirmation prompt so you don't accidentally delete a job but they're still a little close for comfort. I also would like a way to delete backup chains from within the B&R console rather than in the raw data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ease of use. Top notch support. It just works without any of the hassle that the competition's products have. It's reasonably priced and is constantly refined. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not much. Sometimes there are growing pains during bigger upgrades but never to a point that will totally break my configurations. Fails could have better descriptions and information about what caused the fails, but nothing serious. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The interface is very user/admin friendly, has a very good in-built deduplication engine, one of the few software packages that i can give honest 10 out of 10. Great support too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Honestly not a single thing that I can say is bad with this software... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The best thing about Veeam is the reliability and the recovery speed it provides. When I use it, I am sure I can recover my data (with regular tests of the backups and following Veeam 3-2-1 rule). The recovery speed is amaizing - seconds! Try "instant VM recovery" if you don't believe.
Veeam supports tape archiving and has a very friendly management interface. In the rare cases when I needed additional help with the software, Veeam support team was outstanding, helpful, and engaged. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Everything's great keep doing a great job Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Veeam program is actually easy, simple to operate and capable of duplicating job on remote servers, and that is extremely surprising. It simply works. In addition to the simplicity of controlling backups to end products, you will have to search for another method which are able to do the exact same for the business of yours! Additional license charges for internet backups. Competitive systems here have cost and strength. With the incorporated Terminal Backup License you are able to determine just one backup task. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It has great compatibility with various operating systems and systems, it is easy to use and implement backup and recovery policies.
The support with the excellent manufacturer, they always find the right support, they are also always promoting knowledge through conferences. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Lack of support for end-user computers, and having greater compatibility with libraries. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Backups are easy to set up and configure. Data recovery was extremely fast. What I also like about it is the possibility to run the VM from the backup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not yet. It would be nice to be able to copy/examine several databases at once. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One of my favorite things is the visibility. Very easy to see what is going on without digging through too many sub menus. I like the web portal and knowledge base as it has helped me solve a lot of my own issues without having to contact Veeam for support. They have done a great job of compiling a list of issues and fixes for the end users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes the speed is not as fast as I think it should be going like it reports false information. I wish there was a way to get 1 comprehensive report of all my backups instead of multiple throughout the day. That is really the only thing I would change. Sometimes I have issues getting the windows agent to install on new virtual machines during the auto deploy process. Its not a deal breaker I just have to end up doing a manual install of the agent. Other than that there is not much else I have changed. I would not consider myself a pro at this by any means but it is very simple to use and get going. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Simple backup of VM's.
Easy overview of failed and succeeded jobs.
Adding cloud storage for long retention. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Veeam agent backup requires some modifications.
Updates require everything to be on the same version.
Poor upgrade processes Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Veeam is easy to use and maintain. It is very simple to setup without too many components, backups can be moved easily (in case you want to move them off-site) and it is very fast due to direct integration with storage vendors. The option to protect physical devices is a very big plus. Veeam listens to the customer although it can take quite some time before requested features are added to the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The licensing structure is very unclear. As a customer we are struggling with the amount of options, resellers and pricing. Overall it is unclear what is the most efficient option for you. Nearing the end of your contract you are continuously chased by sales representatives to renew your contract. These representatives constantly change and there is always pressure (your contract is going to be more expensive) which can be tiresome at times.
Veeam has a tight integration with VMware, but when Vmware releases a new version it really takes quite a lot of time before Veeam supports it, usually with the first new version being buggy as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If you run a VMWare Virutal Environment Veeam Backup and Replication is the tool you need to streamline all of your backup jobs as well as replications. This is a worry free tool which makes the headaches of keeping backups and replication jobs organized and maintained. This solution is also a great teaching tool for any young system administrators who are new to backing up and restoring VM's. It's built in wizard lay out all of the necessary information allowing for any admin to orgainzed when creating backup jobs as well as tracking them through logs. Moreover, the most important part about Veeam and where I believe it shines is during restoration of VMs. In a critical situation Veeam makes restoring VM's very fool proof at the click of just a few buttons you've saved a burning environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Veeam has very little disadvantages and during the time that we've used it in our company, its been very difficult to find anything wrong with it. The best part about Veeam is their stance behind their product. In the event there are any issues with configuration, Veeam Support is one call away. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
