I'm considering a change in my career path and Uxcel provides probably all I need for that. I use it everyday. It has a simple interface that encourages you do get back to it every day. Design-wise it's pleasant for the user's eye with cohesive layout and illustrations visualising each topic. I wouldn't expect anything else from an app focused on teaching user interface design. **What do you dislike about Uxcel?** The time pressure when answering questions in the quizes could be less stressing, I personally don't find it necessary to have a timer on. It could also have an option for users to be notified more than once a day. **What problems is Uxcel solving and how is that benefiting you?** It teaches the basics of UX/UI in which I want to proceed my career. Fast forwarding to today Uxcel has become my favourite learning platform for all things related to UX and Product Design. Improving our skills is crucial for career progression and it is one of my main recommendations to my mentees when they are looking to level up. As we progress in our careers, testing our skills frequently is a key factor for us to determine what to focus on next and in the "Assessments" area in UXcel you can find skill tests for a variety of topics such as "Design Skill", "Design Tool", and "Design Discipline". I strongly recommend the platform to all my felow designers or for those who are considering starting a career as UX or Product Designer. Give it a try. One day I was cleaning my browser tabs when I stopped at UXcel, in that moment I had no memories of ever looking at this platform before. How long has this tab been open for? No idea. So I started to explore and figure out what this platform is about, and I thank God I did. I immediatly fell in love. I signed up for a free account and right off the bat I was able to access every first level of every course offered on the platform for FREE. Each first level contained at least 3 lessons. I remember exploring two courses, one was about Design Fundamentals and the second one was from an intermediate level and that's when I found the real value of this platform. One might think that because these lessons are free, they'd be of less value but that's wrong because when you get a sense of the advanced topics that you'll be learning right after signing up, that's when you know you're getting access to invaluable information and at a very affordable price. I signed up the very next day for a whole year subscripition. Another invaluable feature of UXcel that I haven't yet to see anywhere else is the Career Paths for Designers. It's not something entirely new as I have been on Web Development platforms that offered career paths but this was the first time I came across such feature purely for designers. Let's talk about the topics I learned and why I think this platform is truly underrated. I'd like to start by saying that I have been trying to learn UX Design all over the interent, looking and comparing prices and all, yet, 60% or more was completely brand new for me. I think that is due to the fact that the platfrom focuses on what a designer will actually be doing in the work environment but it's layed out in a theoretical approach. These courses gave me a feeling of being on the job and guided by a mentor in a sense. I'm being taught what I will be responsible for and how best I can do it and that is something I had never seen anywhere else. I highly recommed UXcel to anyone who is trying to get in the field of UX and Product Design, especially if you have zero knowledge about the field. It's the one place that I found had everything I needed to know to get into the field. **What do you dislike about Uxcel?** I have one issue so far which is a new thing that had only been added recently, gamification. I personally think that racing to beat fellow learners turns the learning journey into a marathon to win not to learn. I wish I had the option to opt out of it. **What problems is Uxcel solving and how is that benefiting you?** Putting everything a new designer needs to know in one place is the best thing about UXcel. Everywhere I looked I was told to learned about topics like color psychology but never shown the core concepts of color until I used UXcel. I learned about leadership from aspects like workshop facilitation, service design and other important topics that aren't talked about on mainstream media. ### 4. I started teaching myself various things, i still read alot of books and got myself enrolled into interaction design foundation, but it wasn't enough. Then I came across Uxcel. Which is very different from all the other online resources. I love the part where I feel like playing a game but at the same time i collect so much new information related to UX and product design. The pratice assignments have certainly made me a better designer. The courses feel small if you spend time learning everyday, atleast 1 hour. That's what I did. Most importantly, Uxcel is playful and interactive way to learn. **What do you dislike about Uxcel?** The membership pricing and the certification fee are different. That's bas because the certification fee is alot. I emailed them asking about a student discount, luckily they were able to provide me that. There are no videos. Sometimes when I don't feel like reading, I miss watching and learning stuff. This could be me being biased but the content needs more creativity and it's too simple. I've come across many websites that promote UI/UX courses, but their outdated landing pages often have confusing user experiences. However, Uxcel is an exception. Their site is exceptionally user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing. I have a particular fondness for gamification. Life doesn't always have to be about achieving things through blood and sweat. If you consistently follow Uxcel's recommendations (and do all including challenges), you'll undoubtedly experience significant growth as a designer. **What do you dislike about Uxcel?** As a dedicated collector, I went to Uxcel for 82 days in a row because my mission was to maintain a streak. But then one day, I completely forgot about it, and my streak was reset to zero. I was devastated, and I even reached out to the support system (although they couldn't help me). I understand that this was all part of my personal growth journey, but I was so upset and annoyed that I stopped doing lessons. The platform uses gamification to reinforce your reward pathway when you pass a quiz. The system lets you see your progress with a progress bar and heat map-like diagram of your skill development. Uxcel is super intuitive and easy to implement and use on any system. I have not had to use any customer support since my memberships for the past year, but I am sure if I did, it would be exceptional just as the platform is. You also get nifty email reminders to continue skilling up and the lessons you have in progress. Uxcel is a digital UX university and digital professor all in one. It is the perfect platform for seasoned designers looking to brush up and keep their skills sharp. It is also great for other professionals transitioning into UX as a career changer. Gamification of the platform definitely makes the learning process rewarding (and addicting). There are a number of things I've grown to enjoy about Uxcel. The lessons aren't lengthy or dull, but are broken into smaller bits that make it easy to grasp new concepts. There's a good amount of lessons between each quiz that ensures you understand the course content before moving on to the next topic. Imagery/animations incorporated into each lesson make concepts easier to understand, especially for visual learners like myself. A benefit of Uxcel is its convenience. I've been able to work through lessons on my laptop, tablet, and phone. I can do a quick lesson during a work break, while waiting for coffee, or even on a treadmill at the gym! Uxcel makes learning accessible and anytime, anywhere. **What do you dislike about Uxcel?** If a question is answered incorrectly on a quiz, Uxel won't generate a different question of the same topic. You'll have to answer the same question, which may lead learners to memorize the correct multiple-choice answers rather than understanding the topic. It would be great if different questions on the topic were generated after a user answers incorrectly! **What problems is Uxcel solving and how is that benefiting you?** When I joined Uxcel, they did not have a mobile app available. With a busy schedule, it meant that learning on the go wasn't as easy or accessible. This issue has since been solved after Uxcel released its mobile app! ### 9. They constantly take care of you as a user by improving the UX of the application constantly and their customer support is available to any type of issue you may have. If you're looking to start in UX: Please reconsider that absurdly-expensive bootcamp that promises you a job right away. Make use of the course programs Uxcel has prepared for you, at 1 quarter of the price you'll waste on those bootcamps. **What do you dislike about Uxcel?** At this point in time, Uxcel satisfies my needs for learning and actualizing my knowledge. Do not allow the learner to leverage visual anchoring: When a material has a picture associated with it that is also displayed while taking a test, that creates an easy by-pass through the test without actually assessing knowledge. **What problems is Uxcel solving and how is that benefiting you?** The problem of having a centralized, money-friendly, ux-dedicated platform for learning. ### 11. The platform is very intuitive and well thought out. At the end of every lesson is a quiz that allows you to test how well you retain your knowledge. I have found that this helps reinforce the content I read. These quizzes are short and are not very hard to do either. I've always found it funny that many of the platforms that teach UX Design often have poor UX but not this platform. That was one of the first things that caught my attention. This has helped me trust the platform even more. It is simple to navigate and doesn't feel intimidating. Finally, it really is a place to learn UX Design, no matter your skill level. The platform doesn't assume you’re a complete beginner neither does it assume you're an expert at anything. What it does offer is a skill graph. You take a number of quizzes on several UX Design topics and it creates a profile of your skill level based on how well you do. I found that this is very helpful because in some cases you may find that you are a lot better than you thought and this helps with imposter syndrome. **What do you dislike about Uxcel?** The only thing I don't like about Uxcel is the leaderboard section. It is a nice way to get users motivated and during the first two weeks, I was motivated to keep using the platform. However, my issue is what happens (or should I doesn't happen) when you earn the top points for the week. In my experience, nothing happens, absolutely nothing. There is no reward, no badge, nothing to keep you motivated. You simply enter into a new league and start again. I think it would be nice if your name stays up there until the end of the next week. That at least feels like a reward. The community already has over 200,000 designers, so it's also great to connect and exchange experiences with other professionals in the field. With just a minimal dedication of 10 minutes a day, you can gain new learning daily. Its interface is minimalist and generally quite easy to use, making it easy to navigate whether you are a new user or returning to what you were doing as a recurring user. The learning is presented in courses and tracks with blocks divided by topics and grouped into levels, which take about 3 hours to complete each block. You have the option to read the theory before starting the exercises or learn while answering the question cards. I find it wonderful that the platform does not penalize you for answering incorrectly but instead seeks to help you learn from your mistake and remember the correct answer. You also have the possibility to play mini-games in its arcade, which makes the learning experience even more fun and complements what you have learned in theory. Regarding your profile within Uxcel, you have the option to have a normal profile or a professional profile where you showcase your projects, work, and what you expect in a job; in addition, Uxcel shows your progress as a designer based on the courses and certificates obtained. Not only do I feel like I understand the designers and the terms they use more, but it has also helped me write better code. I like that Uxcel offers a wide range of categories for their courses, not just strictily UX. You can learn everything from basic HTML and CSS to color theory and designing an efficient workshop. There are more features, such as the arcade or challenges. The arcade trains your eye to spot the most common mistakes designers make. You get immediate feedback on your answer; if it is wrong, you can retake it. The lessons are easy to digest and to consume. Each should take no longer than 5 minutes. If you can build a habit, you can complete most courses in a few months. **What do you dislike about Uxcel?** The catalogue and the lessons are constantly expanding, but it is easy to go through all of them in a few months. At that point, even if new courses and lessons are released regularly, you will likely access the courses or lessons occasionally.
