Our former developer did a horrible job, which continually allowed bots to attack the site -- we went over our server's resource limits multiple times and crashed. Our current developer has fixed the bad programming and the FIRST THING he suggested was to subscribe to UptimeRobot. That will ensure if, for any reason, the site goes down, we're notified immediately. This is critical when you're in our industry because people visit every day for updated news events and it's horrible if they can't access the site. There's been a couple of times, over the past year, the UR monitor kicked in and notified us the site was down -- not because of bots, but for minor reasons. Had we not immediately known the site was down, it would have delayed tech repairs for hours, something we can't afford to let happen. I had to contact them once on a tech inquiry and WOW! Immediate reply and correct advice. And, it felt like they really cared and wanted to make sure we were 100% satisfied. I am a small team of one and I wear many hats, so worrying about one less thing that is important as uptime monitoring is a no-brainer for me. UptimeRobot has been more reliable than other systems I've used in the past, with timely and configurable alerts, a status page to let your customers know how your services are performing (optional), one of the most generous free tiers out there, and a wonderfully designed app to keep you in the loop. It's highly configurable and easy to set up and use. Geolocation of response times is not reported or configurable. Repsonse time threshold alerting would be a nice addition.
