I've been using UptimeRobot to monitor the sites I build and maintain for clients, and it's become a quiet but essential part of my workflow. The dashboard is genuinely simple to work with. Adding a new monitor takes under a minute, the setup is self-explanatory enough that I never had to dig through docs, and I was watching my first site within minutes of signing up. The main overview shows me the status of every site at a glance, and I can drill into any individual monitor's response times and incident history in just a couple of clicks. The monitoring itself has been reliable. Checks run consistently, and the response-time graphs help me spot when a site is getting sluggish before it actually goes down, which has let me catch a couple of issues proactively rather than hearing about them from a client. I have alerts routed to email, and the option to add webhooks and other notification channels means I can plug it into whatever setup a given client uses. For a freelancer managing several client sites, the value is clear. Knowing immediately when something goes down, instead of finding out from an annoyed client, is worth far more than what the plan costs. If I had to note something, the free plan's 5-minute check interval is slower than the paid tiers, so a very brief outage could resolve before it's flagged. It hasn't been an issue for my use, but tighter intervals on the lower plans would be a nice-to-have. Beyond that, I haven't used the more advanced features enough yet to speak to them. As a freelance web developer, I maintain a number of client sites, and before UptimeRobot I had no reliable way of knowing when one went down. In practice that often meant a client noticed the outage before I did, which is not a great look and meant I was always reacting late. Now UptimeRobot detects downtime automatically and alerts me straight away, so I can look into the problem, and often inform the client, before they've even noticed. I like that it offers a free way to check that your website is up from outside of my network and whitelisted IP addresses. Once setup, I don't have to do anything and it will notify me if and when it goes down. Then again once it's up. This way I don't freak out if I see the email late and didn't catch it on when it went down. The free plan does pretty much everything a single website owner could ask for. What do you dislike about UptimeRobot? Haven't used it long enough to find anything I disliked about it. I guess the UI could be a little "fancier" but that's not a concern of mine. We rely on state funding (grants) for our business and along with those grants we must provide uptime reports on parts of our website. Currently, we have to ask the hosting provider for these reports along with pulling the system logs from another server to find out when the server rebooted and how long it was down for. I really like UptimeRobot for its ease of use and quick setup. It's super easy to use and monitor, which is something I appreciate. Setting it up takes just about five minutes per link, which is impressive, and it starts monitoring right away. The notifications are prompt and exact, helping me log incidents and follow up if a link hasn't been restored. I find it very useful for monitoring a variety of links, including those that aren't within my network, like for resellers. The app provides multiple fields to include details like client names and circuit numbers, which is really handy. I'm very happy with the service; it helps quite a lot.
