**What do you like best about UPPER?**

My experience with UPPER has been outstanding so far. From the very beginning, the interview process was structured, clear, and respectful of my time. What really sets them apart is the ongoing support, the team is always available and genuinely invested in your success. I also found their internal board extremely helpful, it allows you to browse available roles at any time. But even better, their team actively matches you with roles that truly align with your skills and goals, saving you time and increasing your chances of landing something meaningful. If you’re a tech professional looking for curated opportunities with a human-first approach, UPPER is this place.

**What do you dislike about UPPER?**

While my overall experience with UPPER has been very positive, there were a couple of challenges in the beginning. Initially, it took some time before I was matched with a role, I wasn’t invited to any interviews for a couple of months, which felt a bit uncertain. However, this changed once a well-matched opportunity came through, and the process quickly gained momentum. Additionally, there isn’t always clear visibility on when payments are processed. I assume this depends on the timelines of their clients, but having more transparency or updates in that area would definitely enhance the experience. That said, I appreciate their efforts and the support they’ve provided throughout my journey.

**What problems is UPPER solving and how is that benefiting you?**

UPPER is solving one of the biggest pain points for tech professionals. Finding high-quality, relevant job opportunities without the noise and mismatch of traditional job boards. Instead of endless applications, their team curates roles that truly fit your background, goals, and preferences,  saving time and reducing frustration. Their platform also streamlines the hiring process by keeping everything organized and structured, from role discovery to interviews. For me, this meant less stress, a more targeted job search, and a sense that someone is actively advocating for me behind the scenes.

While UPPER has been a great asset for managing my freelance work, one area that could use improvement is the timesheet UI. Currently, it’s not very intuitive, which can make tracking time and logging hours feel a bit cumbersome. The layout could be streamlined to allow for quicker entry and better clarity around recorded hours. Simplifying the interface and adding a few more user-friendly options would make time tracking much smoother. Improving this aspect would greatly enhance the overall experience, especially for freelancers who rely on accurate timesheets for billing.

I have been working with Upper since June this year and, so far, I must admit that it has been a very good experience: constant support, guidance, the recruitment process is quite straight forward, easy to follow and I have been kept up to date at all stages until I landed my first job. Upper has very good quality clients and I feel like I have made a very good decision. And on top of all this, the job is fully remote!

**What do you like best about UPPER?**

I have been registered with Upper since late Summer '23. Within a couple of weeks I was in a process to secure some freelance work. The platform itself is easy to navigate and unambiguous, the way the roles are displayed reads like a regular job board which is great for familiarity and once work is secured, the timesheet functionality is also very straightforward - 10/10.
What I have found also is that the service provided by the people at Upper is truly excellent. From initial calls through to talent success management, it is faultless. I know if I have a question or issue (I've not had an issue), I can go on the Upper slack and message my contact or the community at any time, safe in the knowledge I will get a quick reply with an appropriate answer.
Great service, great people. I am very happy overall with my Upper experience.

**What do you like best about UPPER?**

Hello,

For me the UPPER experience was my first job as a freelancer, and it had a huge impact as I was quite afraid to take this step, move from permanent employee to self employee.   I appreciated the collaboration and all the help I got in order to align with the new business requirements, invoicing, contracting and so on.    Beside this what I like also like is the Upper Community and the communication, where you get constant info's about opened roles and opportunities, this is very important when working as a freelancer.

**What do you dislike about UPPER?**

It is not correct to say I disslike, but I would have loved them even more if they would had more jobs related to my domain.  This way probably I could have had the chance to collaborate again with them.   
But who knows, maybe this will be possible in future.

It gives you access to a community of freelancers that can help you start your journey or find your path towards collaborations , projects, roles .

Upper, for me as a freelancer, are solving the problem of finding a suitable client quickly and efficiently to minimise on down-time between contracts.

They do this by obviously maintaining strong relationships with clients and pre-interviewing freelancers onto the Upper platform so that when a suitable match is made, hiring can be handled very quickly and efficiently and onboarding into that new project is seamless and hassle-free.

I found the process of joining a team with Upper to have been very easy and seamless, from start to finish. They supported me constantly along the way and made sure all my needs were promptly addressed and communicated.

That I was lucky enough to be a match for one of the currently few role they have for my skill set (backend). This isn't a dislike, rather it's a regret that they don't yet have more roles for backend engineers and hope for future growth to be able to support more of my fellow backenders.

My experience has been smooth sailing since day 1.
I was not registered on the platform but the team reached out to me for a specific role and the whole process took a couple of days from the initial interview with UPPER to finalizing interviews with the client.
The staff are incredible and super helpful, it was a pleasure dealing with each person I dealt with personally.

**What do you like best about UPPER?**

Studio app is easy to use as well as filtering jobs I'm interested at.
Emails with new jobs that are interesting to me are also great, we can apply with few clicks.
The people that I communicate with are super kind, responsive and helpfull. They also try their best to get freelancers the best deals and notify them when things change.
The process of getting in was a while ago but that was also simple and short - didn't take weeks and a lot of my working hours to pass it. 
Emails I get are super short and simple. There aren't adds or CTAs that I'd never click. That's sweet.

Rates that UPPER offers are competitive and attractive and that's been the case for years now.

I do use other platforms but Upper is the simplest one and it seems that it provides best results regarding the projects I've worked on and the experience I've had on those projects.

Props to Raquel, Flavius and Andreea for their work, it's always a pleasure.

The last payment period was super short - around two weeks - but usually it takes a whole month for invoice processing.

I believe the staff from UPPER has been the most helpful element of the experience. From the initial onboarding on the platform, the search for the right client and then onboarding with the client, I felt that I always got the information and support I needed from them. It makes the process of finding a role so much more enjoyable knowing that you have people you can rely on.

It took quite a long time for me to find a suitable role on the platform as the availability of data engineering opportunities wasn't there. Still, once something suitable for me came up, they reached out right away and put me in touch with the client.

UPPPER are making it easier for me to find work. They manage the relationship with the clients, getting me terms better than I could manage for myself. I have more time to focus on developing market-relevant skills instead of looking for work.

Although they offer an option to receive payments earlier with a 5% charge, not all freelancers may be comfortable with this arrangement.
