The fees for Doge are insanely high ~ 20% fee to buy Dogecoin and move to Defi wallet **Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** MacKenzie B. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2023 **What do you like best about UPHOLD?** Nothing except that it's easier to verify your identity than other platforms like Coinbase, which don't allow Canadians with a valid US-work visa to transact on their platform. **What do you dislike about UPHOLD?** You'll pay approximately 20% to buy dogecoin and transfer funds to a self-custodial wallet. Uphold charges 5%+ to buy Dogecoin on their platform, which is crazy expensive. They have no transparency around fees and intentionally obfuscate user transaction costs. You must look at a crypto exchange rate to know how much they bill for a simple Doge purchase. Then if you want to withdraw the amount to an outside DeFi wallet, you'll be paying 9% fee. In summary, use any other service that won't bill such high fees. **What problems is UPHOLD solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's one of the only crypto exchanges in the US that makes it easier for Canadians with work visas to transact on the ACH/US-banking system. Fraud. Nothing works. **What do you dislike about UPHOLD?** Our company has deposited a first amount (roughly 40K euro) to be invested into stocks and shares via Uphold. Since more than 2 months the money are lost, and customer care agents are replying with standardized messages, saying that they are doing their best to help (to help on what??!) Our lawyer is considering filing the lawsuit now. This is the worst ever experience I've had throughout 10+ years of business experience. **Recommendations to others considering UPHOLD:** AVOID! **What problems is UPHOLD solving and how is that benefiting you?** Transfer is not deposited since multiple weeks. ### 4. They claim that they are overwhelmed by the number of new clients. However, this is a poor excuse. It is the responsibility of a business to manage its own resources. If it cannot handle the large number of customers, then it should not take on that many. Other platforms control the number of new applicants with waitlists. I have only used the platform for a few months but Uphold has blocked my account, preventing me from withdrawing my funds. It has been more than 3 weeks, and they will not even respond to my requests for an update. **What problems is UPHOLD solving and how is that benefiting you?** They will not allow me access to my funds. I can’t sell it and withdraw to my bank account or even send it back to my Coinbase wallet. It’s simply locked and when I reached out to support, they said they’re doing checks on my account and in the meantime feel free to exchange it for another currency (with a $38 fee!!!!). Their app isn’t usable on an iPhone. It’s filled with bugs and the UX is awful. The website is so confusing. They’ve tried way too hard trying to build a tricky flash site and it simply doesn’t work. I’m not sure what I dislike more, their products or the company itself. I just want my money and it seems to have been lost in the ether with no warnings that my account would be locked while it’s being verified before I deposited the assets. It’s now been more than a month. They never refunded me my $4,000 worth of Ethereum and now they don’t even write back. What’s worse is they have deleted my account, so now I can’t even see my funds.
