## Unreal Engine Reviews
  ### 1. Unreal Engine allows me to create games I could never done without this software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gage A. | Customer Service, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

I love the ease-of-use of this software. Almost anyone can create a game now with a little bit of practice!

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

There is nothing that I dislike about this software. It is very easy to use and purchasing assets to create better looking games is a need for a user.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been able to have so much fun in my free time creating games and using new features I never knew existed!

  ### 2. Fastest HQ renders for nonlinear media

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eugene F. | Creative Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

The best thing in UE is the real-time aspect.
But I love all the things in unreal engine. They have many good devs behind the technology, and the updates year after year for UE are moving at an astounding rate. As graphics hardware gets more powerful, the engine will produce better and better results as time goes on. These fast updates allow more things to be done, with fewer people, giving more control to a single artist.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

It's tricky knowing it all because the engine is so massive. The other part is that it's so new that it's hard to find other artists that can use it to its best potential.

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

If you're using unreal for nonlinear media, and you want to save time, approach it from the angle of making a game and not using it as just a renderer for offline use. Otherwise, you are carrying the baggage of the offline rendering world into the real-time world.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem unreal is making more time. At least that's how it is in using it for linear media. Unreal renders things faster, but it also requires you to think differently on how one would approach doing things vs. offline rendering. The benefits, in the end, are what you would get with more time. More time to polish, more time to learn new things, more iteration.

  ### 3. Unreal Engine - A great engine for beginners

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

I really like Unreal Engine's visual scripting language - Blueprints. When I started off in game development, I had no idea what I was supposed to do and had little to no programming language, so blueprints was a blessing to me.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

There are some occasional bugs that sometimes ruin the experience. Random yet infrequent crashes and a bug with dual monitors and some graphic cards make it annoying to use in certain cases.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work at an indie game development company, and Unreal Engine helps ease a lot of the work that needs to be accomplished during game development, and it does so in any easy way.

  ### 4. Great tool for design

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 15, 2020

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

Unreal is an open platform that allows you the freedom to work however you’d like. The possibilities are seemingly endless and adaptable to many production workflows.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

Unreal has a steep learning curve that takes some effort. It is very hardware dependent and requires a significant amount of IT oversight.

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

Browse the forums and see how others are engaging unreal and set a path on how you'll be using it. Then make sure your hardware is setup for success.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Real time design and realizing those designs, rendered in real time. Presentation takes on a whole new form, based on your needs with seemingly limitless possibilities.

  ### 5. the most avanced game engine in real-time

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2021

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

the almost endless possibilities it offers for the creation of games

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

the Unreal works whit C++ and is the most complicated coding language to learn

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

can be downloaded free for use in education and other projects

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I make some student projects

  ### 6. Powerful engine with a few quirks

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arnold A. | M, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

Unreal engine is a great prototyping tool with the blueprints system it is simple to reuse code to enable different functionalities across the board. This allows for a designer to quickly test and experiment with new designs.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

The biggest issue with unreal is how heavy is can get on the system. Each new project can easily get to 5 GBS of storage space used without much added. In the long run with many projects this can lead to storage issues.

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

My recommendation is to understand blueprints and the basics of unreal start with watching a few tutorials to ease yourself into the program. After which you can start to experiment and develop a deeper understanding of unreal.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unreal helps me level design and refine my work with its great tools and free monthly add-ons. With all these free assets I can experiment with many different ideas due to assets helping with core functionalities.

  ### 7. It is a great tool for the entertainment industry

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Subrata S. | VR Developer , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

It provides a great interface with a wide variety of tools that can be used by, anyone, from a beginner to a professional.

Compared to its competitors it provides better visual technology and material editors which come very handy from the perspective of a game designer.

Unreal Engine also offers visual scripting which makes it very easy to code a game even for someone who has no past knowledge of coding.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

Unreal Engine is not as flexible as some of its competitors, and even though it has been available for a long time the community is not as widespread and it is more focused on people who already have some experience in terms of game design development use it for building.
The pricing of unreal is also a little confusing tho it is free to start they charge you once the game earn revenues.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helped solve a lot of problems since it provides great visual and easy level designing it can be used for creating life-like simulations that can be played.
If the VR plugin is used and the material editor is used in the correct way the simulations created can mimic real life and the person can literally forget that he is in a VR simulation.

  ### 8. Program a game without coding.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Neha J. | Gamer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

Open-source, simple, vide variety of game designs, supports models from all types of 3d modelling software. Just need to build the concept using blueprint mapping. supports all design types from 1st person to 3rd person or racing or virtual reality or any other thing. This is also a great tool for good rendering results. Some small VR experience or a very detailed map of PUBG is matter simple for this game engine to handle. (PS: legendary famous game PUBG was designed on UE only). Blue print editor helps in designing the program without any coding knowledge, all you have to do is logic building with the help of "visible" logic editor or builder. Plus backed up support by lot many users.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

User interface can not be changed from dark mode (or theme).

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

Just tune up your rig before installing this software.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed to design a VR experience for a client. And Unreal Engine form EPIC games nailed without much of experience.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bassam R. | Senior Graphic Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

Unreal helped me to move inside my scene and make my 3Ds comes to life, with its fast rendering and environment.
if you have a model you simply just bring it easily to unreal engine and start to make your own scene it's very easy to texture, move, and just like a play with your character move it and made your own game and develop different things from scratch just like UV mapping and materials, Skelton whatever you like you look for in 3D engine and it's a very good and help you to make your 3D life easier Especially when you want to make your own environment and if you think it just to add grass or trees or buildings or whatever add-on it will calculate it at zero minutes and it's so fast that takes no time and no loading on your PC it just makes everything simple and easy
you can add whatever you want to the scene.
the most important part it's free you can download it simply from the epic market with a story full of assets that will help you to build your project, all you need is to install it and simply start drag and drop the assets into the scene.
don't hesitate just go for it and start building your projects.

environment design & realistic lighting for games.

  ### 12. The Most Unreal Experience Ever

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joel B. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2020

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

Unreal or Unreal Engine 4 (UE4) is the single most best Game Development software tool o have ever used. I am rarely new to coding so the blueprint option is just amazing for a beginner like me. The tutorials that are included are perfect for new comers and easy to understand. tbe lighting look absolutely ground breaking and the graphics are just astonishing. Also the amount of free content provided is just basically over the top for project drafts. Many pre-made projects or starter projects are available to continue from when choosing which game you want to develop. All in all it is the best free engine I have ever used.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Unreal Engine that I have seen so far. Nothing but greatness is all.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unreal Engine helps beginners with an easy way of developing games with the newly added blueprint system for free. Would definitely recommend to others.

  ### 13. Space 3d VR scenario

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Giuseppe B. | 3D Modeler for Space Application in Virtual Reality, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2020

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

The blueprint program is very fast once you understand the logic and it's easy suitable for people who doesn't know coding language at all (but is much easier if you know coding logic). The material quality and construction is not so difficult. The plugin, static contents and other item that regularly epic release for free.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

The building of complex UI is not so easy (especially the anchor point) and for complex function the blueprint could became a mess; the correct strategy is to comment and build a macro for reduce the main blueprint. With a very big function, retrieving the correct point to modify and adding some new functionality could easily became a time consumption operation.

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

Unreal Engine guarantee a very good result in terms of qality, but you need a good level of pc performance. There are tons of material the you should use to fast the learning process. At the end of the day, once you build your level structure, the results are very professional grade.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I build 3d scenario for virtual reality in aerospace industry, from orbiting to ground.

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

Unreal engine can look stunning.. and i found that the ability to achieve impressive visual is much easier than other game engines like unity

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

Unreal uses C++ and it can get pretty daunting and has a pretty steep learning curve

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

Unreal engine is an amazing devtool for games and other simulations project. But from my experience if you building a 2d game or targeting mobile platforms mainly then I think unity would be a better fit

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used unreal mainly for VR. And the visual quality was much higher than i was previously able to do in unity

  ### 15. Unreal is simply Unreal

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt W. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 25, 2020

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

It allows me to design and create games in a fairly simple and easy way since it is not necessary for me to know complex algorithms or a highly sophisticated programming language to make quite entertaining and striking video games in a simple and practical way, in addition to that its interface is quite simple and easy to understand, which greatly simplifies the duration of the development of a video game.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

None, I have no complaints regarding the use of the system.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has been helping me to create my video games in a fairly simple and fast way, not to mention that it has been very helpful to learn a little more about creating video games on different platforms to acquire a higher level of knowledge in this practical part of computing.

  ### 20. Really fun and easy to work with. Pretty good environment!

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy environment.

  ### 21. Unreal review 2021

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

The easy use of the software. Easy to make video games that require programming without being experience in programming.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

The inability to correctly scale object from other software , this require tweaking in unreal.

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

I fully recommend using unreal engine as it the best form to develop realistic quality games for either pc or VR , I’ve been using for the last 4 years since moving from unity.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 23. Unreal Engine is a very famous gaming engine.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Clara F. | It Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

The amount of tools you get in this app is like no other. The ease of use beats every other platform out there. All the competitors are playing catchup with the ease of use in Unreal Engine.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

There is always trouble with using 3D software, but honestly, if you work with the engine, the engine works with you. At certain points, there might be a small problem. The pivot doesn't stay on an object, but almost no one breaks it anyway. Lighting setup times and issues with the resolution of light masses can also be optimized, but they are tricky.

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

It's best if you already have a C++ engineer on your team. You can continue to create products with pure visual Blueprint scripting, but it will be difficult to find exactly what you need.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This game engine has a steep learning curve, simply because the engine is very intuitive and has so many features and functions within functions. But I don't really see that as something I dislike. The more you use it, the better you can grasp the tools you will have.

  ### 24. Very robust engine

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Simone G. | Rigger - Animatore - Animatore tecnico, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

Graphics quality is amazing, the lights are very well made. It's pretty simple to use, it has a nice interface and the performance is great. It integrates with Maya so you can render the viewport with production materials and lights, it's also good to speed up render times for animations. Good for both games and animations. You can create AI even without coding, thanks to the blueprnits

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

The materials are quite nonsense, for example glass is tricky to set. There are no physical parameters to set, but only numbers that modify attributes in an arbitrary way. The sequencer is good to render videos of animations, but it needs some refine because sometimes the interface is not clear enough. Maybe not the best choice for small games.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm using it to avoid days of renders for my animations, it runs real time flawless with a great quality.

  ### 25. Still one of the greatest engines in the game development industry

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 03, 2020

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

Material editor is the best I’ve used! It’s powerful, flexible, and enables artists to do things no other engine does.

Also, blueprints! Incredibly powerful visual scripting and programming.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

Sometimes features (like bokeh DOF) are deprecated with little warning or a suitable replacement. UE4’ is ever evolving.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Look dev for original IPs, independent development, personal Indie development, VFX, animation, blueprints.

  ### 26. Amazing game engine to work with

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sina A. | Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

This is such a wholesome and easy game engine to create what you desire. the blueprint system couldn't get any better and easier. of course it is not easy for a newbie but you can learn as you go.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

Like I said the blueprint system coding is amazing, but it gets confusing sometimes and there no way of telling what you are doing wrong, a helping system could get implemented on it that might help users to correct their mistakes.

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

Just play around with it for a while, don't let it get in your head at all. It takes time to learn this engine.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No problems yet so far. The benefit of it being absolutely free. just the 5% they take after you publish the game which is really nothing at all compared to what they give you in return.

  ### 27. Unreal Engine is a very famous Gaming Engine designed by Epic Games.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** albert j. | game developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

Unreal engine is widely used for the creation of high profile Triple A games. For a wide assortment of circumstances, Unreal Engine has more functionalities and usefulness, which is absent in different engines with a comparative kind. Unreal Engine has better qualities for the various kinds of graphics and also houses better visual editors.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

One of the down sides of using Unreal Engine is that for the working of Unreal Engine, you need an authorized copy of it for working and even need to pay the five percent charge once your game profits. Unreal engine is never recommended for creating simple games and it is an engine that is widely used for creating high profile games.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Stunning Engine 4 is without a doubt a standout even amongst the best of game engines. Its graphical power and ease of use settle on it an extraordinary decision to build up a videogame, both for vast Triple A studios and little outside the box studios. It has vast upgrades in lighting, impacts and surfaces that approach the video games.

  ### 28. What a beast for real time rendering.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

The amount of tools you get in this app is like no other. The ease of use beats every other platform out there. All the competitors are playing catchup with the ease of use in Unreal Engine.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

It’s still a big learning curve but there’s a community out there to get you through it. That is, if you're dedicated to learning all the intricacies of how the software works.

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

Give it a shot, it's free and you can really get a lot out of using and learning a new product. You might even develop the next killer app. A great example of someone who picked it up and made a product who could revolutionize how films are made, is Matt Workman. He created an app called Cine Tracer that helps filmmakers visualize shots in 3D with sets and lighting much like a real world application. If you can dream it, you can achieve it.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a game engine, the benefits of the innovations in the software are immediately appreciated. They are able to do real time visualization in a way not many other apps can. Look up the Childish Gambino tour to see how people are really pushing the envelope with the tech.

  ### 29. Unity and unreal developer

Unreal is used for developing games, software and other using c++. The power of the engine is awesome and the are many free and paid assets to make your projects better.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

The control system when user is in editor mode is not bad but there are other engine like unity3d that have a control system better and more intuitively

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

User friendly interfaces that allows user to develop easily 3d world an objects. The most benefits are the possibility to search documentation and the power of system.

  ### 30. Powerful. But not for everyone.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gabriele C. | Sub-Admin, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

I really liked how u can use this engine. U can create everything u want but u have to know the basics things about this engine.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

It's not really easy to use if u don't know how to program something.

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

If u dont' know anything about programation or is the first time that u are trying to do something, u have to stay focused more to reach your achievement. (Sorry for my bad eng but i'm italian)

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I tryed to work with it but it was a little bit unsuccesful

  ### 31. Unreal Engine Honest User Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

With unreal I enjoy the interface and absolute power that the engine is capable off. Easily guide through the engine, buildings decent looking worlds with no effort. For the novice, it can get so easily complex, blueprint editing, material building, and animation workflows gives you free rain to produce unreal results. With the amount of control and graphical capabilities, unreal has become my main render software when creating new characters, environments and props.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

There are always pet peeves with using any 3D software, but with all honesty, if you work the engine the engine works with you. At certain points there might be a small issue; pivot not staying on a snapped object, not almost none is deal breaking in anyway. Lighting build times, Light mass resolution issues, again can all be tweaked but finicky.

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

Unreal can be overwhelming to a new comer but if you take the time and watch a couple tutorials and get to know the interface it can easily become second nature creating magnificent worlds. Take your time, don't get flustered, eventually your imagination can become your limit.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unreal has given the ability to work with VR and produce high quality real time rendering at the same time. Using the animation features in the software helps use UE4 as a one stop shot for film production in VR using mo cap.

UE4 comes easy to use for most users like myself who are not coders. There is adequate documentation and already set-up scenarios for most use cases where I can implement my own changes and have a usable product.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

Unreal can be resource heavy and crash quite often when performing complex tasks. Support isnt the greatest when having an issue, you have to depend on online assistance from other users while waiting for your ticket to be seen and reproduced.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using Unreal to create VR games and applications, I can use their templates to create walk throughs in VR for clients without any coding or other experience.

  ### 36. Great tool for building 3D worlds and simulating real world environments

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul B. | Software Engineer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

Unreal provides a stable and dependable platform to build quality games. I love the visual quality and the realistic lighting. Unreal has a very good balance of having all the necessary features to start building games while still allowing for customization. Because Unreal and plugins for Unreal are written in C++ it is incredibly easy to find or write code to do tasks that are beyond the ordinary stuff. I Love that between the market place and the built in Unreal apis and libraries I can always find what I need to build whatever is needed.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

I sometimes have issues with getting useful information out of the error logs in the console. In particular, when packaging a game, cook errors will often output a nondescript or generic error.

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

It is best to have experience in C++ before attempting a large scale project. BluePrints are great for small projects or for higher level tasks but ultimately C++ is important for large scale projects with a significant amount of logic.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using Unreal to create realistic simulations of engineering problems and display/test solutions. Using Unreal I am able to re create real world scenarios and also simulate future changes in a situation.

  ### 37. The best 3rd party Game Engine available today

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Isaac P. | Creative dIrector, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

Epic gives you full access to source, pass on relevant tools they create for their own projects, and offer extensive notes and documentation. We have yet to run into a problem that wasn't either explained in the docs or described and solved in the vast and accessible community forums. The developer community is great and the depth of experience that can be taped through them is impressive.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

Unreal can be difficult to approach for smaller teams with less experience. The visual scripting system called Blueprints can be arcane and difficult to work with at times which I can see some getting intimidated by.

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

For small teams, I would suggest you look online for similar projects and reach out if you run into any issues. The community is great and Epic has a regular live stream where they tackle questions asked on the forums.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unreal allows our team to rapidly iterate and get to the prototype faster than we were able to in unity. The tight integration with GPU partners allows for AAA level integration pushing our projects to great effect.

Game development, game character animation, animation integration, real-time lighting

  ### 40. Occasional user for Archviz VR

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 03, 2018

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

The biggest draw for me is the level of quality that you can achieve with UE4 as a realtime rendering solution. I also like how robust the toolset is and how many possibilities you have when creating a VR experience. Additionally, I think there is a great community around UE4 and they have a great library of learning resources.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

I dislike the current lack of integration with architecture software like Revit. While a plugin has been developed for the datasmith toolset that allows for this connectivity, its evident that Epic still has a long way to go in its development. The biggest thing I would like them to include would be some sort of live sync between Revit and UE4

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

It's important to understand that there is a steep learning curve and time commitment involved with developing experiences in UE4. If you are willing to put in the time and effort to learn the software, the results you will get will speak for themselves.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

UE4 provides the opportunity for creating fully immersive architectural VR experiences for our clients. The level of potential that this realtime solution provides is nearly unmatched.

  ### 41. Unreal Productivity

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

Dark Mode. My eyes thank it. Great workflow.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

UE4 Asset store is tiny and really pales to Unity's asset store.

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

Great game dev engine that rivals Unity's ecosystem. Not nearly as user friendly due to native C++ implementation however Blueprints are a godsend when quickly protoyping.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making interesting game experiences.

  ### 42. The Best for Game Development

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Barry W. | Financial Advisor, Food Production, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2018

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

The simplicity of UE4 and the available tools it has make it one of the best, if not the best, development environments. A lot of algorithms come pre-coded, therefore only implementation is required.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

There is literally nothing to be disliked about this program. It will not let you down.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to modelling and refining ideas prior to implementing them in our own games.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

Learning code is a must to fully customize some pieces efficiently.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Releasing products for games that are in alpha phase speeds up production.

  ### 44. Unreal Engine is a must for Environment Artists

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

I use Unreal Engine for displaying my Environments and what I like the best is how easy it is to use. It is very important that as an environment artist you can show your props or scenes in a game engine. On the plus side it is also free to use.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

In my opinion the navigation around the viewports can be a little annoying sometimes. But that is just my personal opinion and it should not affect new users.

Errors and warnings when trying to render things may also be annoying.

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

If you are considering on trying Unreal Engine, try it. There is tons of tutorials out there that will help you on getting started! Even the folks from Unreal have a pretty extensive wiki that can get you started.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Benefits of using this software is creating awesome environments and realistic lighting.

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

The best software for developing games. It can create the best realistic experiences with its advanced tools. Even a rookie who doesn't know programming can also develop using the UE4 Blueprint system.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

To me, many details are complex. Otherwise, it's the best software.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Developing software games.

  ### 46. Ideal for pushing the boundaries of 3D performance and networking

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2017

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

ONBOARDING:
First of all, the in-editor introduction combined with the current level of documentation and available tutorials made an excellent first impression on me.

WORKFLOW:
Hotloading, data inheritance, asset redirectors + fixups, graceful handling of missing classes/properties/objects, MapError checking hooks, separate map layers that can be checked out independently, Lightmass+Swarm agents, and debug viewing of blueprints and behavior trees during in-editor testing. As many have already said, the tools are 80% of what an engine is about and these tools have benefited from the 10+ years of iterations. Option to "Play from here" when testing within the editor.

BATTLE-TESTED MATURE FEATURE SET WITH SOURCE CODE INCLUDED:
Huge benefits of Epic actually using their own dogfood to ship games on the platforms with TRC/Cert requirements! Localization, Input support, Top tier animation pipeline (AnimGraphs/Blends/Sockets) with fine root motion toggleability and easy playing of animation montages from sources outside the character's SkeletalMeshComponent, Sequencer, post-processing/physics/audio volumes, audio occlusion, MovementModes already supporting crouch/swimming/flying, DamageTypes/TakeDamage, Camera, Multiplayer out of the box (able to set numplayers in editor) with easy 3rd person mirroring for 1st person characters, UI, Behavior Trees that support the ability to swap out BehaviorTreeData objects during runtime, faction-aware Perception system, Blackboard, and Blueprints that scale from letting you spaghetti yourself in the foot to using them merely as archetypes that do not handle tick events.

C++ with engine/editor source code that includes comments and well-named functions/variables, no interpreted script layer that allows full use of Visual Studio’s debugging toolset such as “setting the instruction pointer while stepping”, Seamless integration with editor blueprint/animgraph access, Reflection, inheritance-based architecture that makes it possible to create gameside systems without engine mods, asynchronous (multithreaded?) raycasts/shapecasts/sweeps, self-adjusting TArrays that make every effort to maintain contiguous address spaces while accommodating dynamic growth, fundamental Pawn/Controller separation, well-designed component system, and overall a lot of smart microdecisions I’ve noticed within the architecture such as flyweight design pattern for behavior trees. Last but not least, I appreciate that the engine code does not define its own FSM template because I prefer to use my own home-grown deferred FSM for managing things like body, high-level AI, and global game states. Same with generic object pools.

Basically, what this all comes down to is us being way ahead of the initial schedule that I originally planned based on estimates from previous engine experiences, including Unreal 3.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

This engine is overkill for 2D and mobile games due to its very large performance/RAM/storage footprint. Beginners to game development and programming may have trouble with the complexity of this engine. It does sell itself as one size fits all, but honestly, you are better off with Unity if you are making a simple game on lower end platforms.

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

Best if you already have a C++ engineer on your team. You can still make product with pure Blueprint visual scripting, but it will be difficult to get exactly what you need.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We intend to use the engine to mitigate technical risk by having it replace the need for a 10-person core tech team.

  ### 47. Unreal Engine is really Unreal

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Varun C. | Founder, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2017

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

It's perfect for AAA games. The blueprint system saves a lot of time for developers and is very easy to learn and implement.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

Compared to other Engines in the market, like Unity, Unreal needs a bot of practice to understand. There are documentation but I think it can be even better. Also, the plugins available on Unreal Engine is comparably lesser than Unity Engine or any other game engine.

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

I certainly recommend Unreal Engine for AAA game makers. It has everything that you'd want to work with.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used Unreal Engine to design and develop a AAA quality game for PC, Mobile and other platforms.

  ### 48. Very photorealistic real time rendering

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Arts and Crafts | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

Unreal have a very powerful material and shader system
A photorealistic real time rendering
Free license, including full access to source code, is licensed to developers for 5% royalty on resulting revenue if it exceeds $3000 per quarter.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

Hard engine for beginners
Royalty based cold be a dislike, because the royalty it's keep from all of the entrance (for example if you develop a game ad you use a kickstarter for find money, unreal take the royalty from the ammount of kicstarter goal)

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

Read the on line support, you can find something interesting.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

for architecture rendering you have a fast resoult in minimum time of work

  ### 49. Super Game Engine

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roberto T. | Lead Artist, E-Learning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2017

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

unreal is a very powerful game engine, which comes for free.
As artist, I enjoy the light quality of the engine and the possiblity that blueprints give me: even though I am not able to code, I can create mechanics, rules, materials...by using blueprint nodes.
Also, the Interface is pretty easy (especially if you have experience with other game engine and/or 3D modeling softwares).

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

Until now, I appreciate any side of this software.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Video game development, both 2D, 3D and for VR.

  ### 50. UE4 Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maxim L. | Interactive Software Developer, Media Production, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2016

**What do you like best about Unreal Engine?**

What I like best about working with Unreal Engine 4 is that the possibilities are endless. This engine is made for designers and engineers alike where each one can be very productive with the game engine. You can easily go in an create a game without writing a line of code but for a programmer like myself you can write all the C++ code you want for all functionality. The full C++ source is also available to you so you can literally tweak the engine itself! The pricing model and the tutorials online are also exceptional.

**What do you dislike about Unreal Engine?**

This game engine has a high learning curve just because the engine is very immersive and has so many features and features within features. But I don't really see this as something I dislike. The more you use it the better grasp for the tools you will have.

**Recommendations to others considering Unreal Engine:**

Only use UE4 if you have a true passion for game development and are willing to spend a good amount of time learning the features. Start with the tutorials online. Or complete the C++ Udemy Class.

**What problems is Unreal Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

UE4 provides many benefits for any type of game on any type of platform (Similar to Unity). UE4 also is amazing for simulations, architectural walk troughs, and any sort of project not exactly considered a game. It is a technical sandbox of your dreams.
