Appliance is pretty easy to configure and the support staff have been very helpful when I have called into help configure new servers, etc for back. The only competitor that I have used aside from Unitrends is Iperius which works, but Unitrends seems to provide a solution that scales acoss many devices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Unitrends Backup and Recovery? I did have an instance in which a Microsoft Update completely "lost" the location of the server drives. The tech I worked with at Unitrends about a baremetal recovery didn't seem to be the most helpful. Not sure if he was a newby or not, but was a scenario in which he made me nervous about this proocess. Fortunately the issue was resolved after a couple days of work with M$crosoft. Very automated system that seems to just run without a lot of tending to. I do receive reports of backups being completed and get on the system periodically for updates. The first thing you will notice is that the interface is simple and easy to understand. Creating backups, checking if they peformed and recovery is intuitive. Unitrends does have some decent help articles just in case! Support from Unitrends is usually quick and gets the situation in order! Finally, and a huge thing to consider if you are not using it is cloud replication. Not only does this help protect you incase of appliance failure or worse, ransomware attack that they would be able to wipe all your backup data. But in case of a catastrophic failure, Unitrends can spin up critical servers in the cloud and get you back up and running! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Unitrends Backup and Recovery? The sales team can be very very agressive. If you are coming up for renewal, renew quickly otherwise expect daily calls requesting renewal. Note that while your backups will continue to run, you will no longer be able to update the appliance and possibly no longer get cloud backups. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Some of it was user caused, some system outage and others due to outside forces. But Unitrends did come through. The Unitrends Enterprise Backup solution provided an endpoint backup solution for all of our desktops. Features like deduplication are included and didn't require extra licensing. You have options for schedules and GFS backups or letting the appliance manage retention settings automatically. During the initial deployment or shortly after an issue required support to resolve which was handled in a relatively quick and professional manner to activate the licensing. Acquired the application under a promotional license that I wasn't able to restore, despite contacting support. Migrated to another solution. Depending on the deployment, copying backups to removable media isn't an option without a workaround. In my case, I created a fixed VHD on the removable storage. While there are several backup solutions available for SMBs, UEB provided a managed backup for endpoints under a single pain of glass. Love the fact that it is a stand alone appliance and not dependent on or sharing resources with a server or cluster. Also like the fact that it is running Linux which is still more secure than Windows OS. Finally, I like being able to contact support that I have no problem understanding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Unitrends Backup and Recovery? There are a few things that need improvement. While Vmware is still king, they need to do better about the way they interface with Hyper-V. Another issue is recovery process can be a little cumbersome and take longer than it really should. I would also say they need to resolve issues with cleaning up space from expired backups. Every few months I have to manually go back and delete old backups that should be getting removed by the retension policy. Finally, while the support engineers speak english well and can help in a lot of things, there have been a number of issues I just simply never got resolutions for, and never heard back from the higher level support and engineers. Simply backing up and restoring data is really all I'm using this system for at this time. When I started with RAPT just under 4 years ago, we didn't have any backup solution in place for our M365 environment. Initially, we went with a competing product that just packed up our SharePoint environment, but then we learned about Unitrends' Spanning product, which expanded us beyond SharePoint to the entire 365 environment, meaning mailboxes, OneDrive folders, and SharePoint.
