### 1. Intuitive CMS with fast functionality, needs workflow tool improvement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emilie B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I love how Umbraco has great functionality, allowing tasks like uploading results to be completed in seconds thanks to simple import/export tools. The user experience is seamless and intuitive, making it easy for everyone to find what they need swiftly. I like that the CMS and frontend are simple to use and the interface is smooth and not clunky. It's also easy to train other staff and the CMS navigation is clear. Plus, it's easy to build pages.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

Some challenges with the workflow tool which could be improved to ensure users can easily request publication of their work. There have been errors with it working and not allowing users to request publication of their pages.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Umbraco's simple import/export tools save time, turning tasks that took hours into seconds, and the seamless, intuitive user experience helps families, supporters, and professionals find what they need swiftly. Training staff is easy due to the clear CMS navigation.

 ### 2. User-Friendly CMS That Keeps Things Simple

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

It's very user-friendly and doesn't feel overly complex, which is great if you work with people who aren't as familiar with CMSs. There's also quite granular levels of user permissions which makes it easy to set and restrict permissions across your teams. You can also add extensions.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

The confirmation notifications appear over the publish and save buttons in the bottom right, so it blocks the buttons which is impractical.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's a system that can be as simple or complex as you need it to be, meaning everyone in our organisation can use it after simple training, even if they've never used a CMS before. It's also adaptable for colleagues who are more technically minded so it can progress as needed.

 ### 3. Highly Customizable, User-Friendly CMS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mats S. | System Developer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I love using Umbraco because it provides an easy-to-set-up platform that offers high customizability, making it a fantastic choice for web development. The myriad possibilities it offers for customization are truly endless, allowing me to tailor my projects precisely to client needs. The user-friendly Backoffice is incredibly well-designed, with a strong focus on the end-user experience, which greatly contributes to client satisfaction. Additionally, the supportive and vibrant community surrounding Umbraco is something I cherish, as it fosters collaboration and continuous learning. Switching to Umbraco from EPiServer, now Optimizely, was a seamless process, enhancing my workflow without issues. Overall, Umbraco’s combination of flexibility, ease of use, and community engagement makes it my top recommendation for other developers.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

I find it inconvenient that you need to create document types through the UI in Umbraco, as it limits a true code-first experience. This approach requires a lot of extra work, which can be cumbersome. However, once I adjusted to it, it became manageable by hooking up document types to auto-generated C# classes for easier coding.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Umbraco provides an easily set up platform with high customizability, a user-friendly Backoffice that keeps clients happy, and a supportive community.

 ### 4. Flexible, Reliable, and Developer-Friendly CMS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** RAJKUMAR M. | IT Product Owner, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I like how flexible and developer-friendly Umbraco is. It allows for full customization while keeping content management simple for non-technical users. The active community and rich documentation make it easier to solve problems and extend the platform.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

Umbraco is powerful, but the learning curve can be steep for new users, especially for developers unfamiliar with .NET. Some features that are easy in other CMSs require extra setup or customization here.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Umbraco helps us manage and deliver content efficiently across multiple channels while maintaining flexibility for custom development. This reduces the time our team spends on content updates and allows us to create tailored experiences for our users, ultimately improving engagement and streamlining our workflows.

 ### 5. Flexible, Secure, and Scalable CMS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve M.

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I use Umbraco for all my client websites because it's a great platform for building unique, bespoke websites. I appreciate its flexibility as it allows you to create whatever kind of website you want. The security is great because they are quick to patch security issues, which are usually few and far between. It's also a very stable and mature product. I like its scalability too. Additionally, I love its integration capabilities as it works well with various systems, including Salesforce. The initial setup for the large charity site I support was made easier by using Umbraco.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

Umbraco Forms could do with a mailing list when there are updates. I would like to have notifications when there are updates and what they are.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Umbraco to build unique client websites. It empowers editors to create sites their way and patches security issues quickly. Its flexibility and integration capabilities are valuable, allowing me to connect with systems like Salesforce.

 ### 6. Flexible, User-Friendly CMS That Empowers Content Teams

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer M. | Marketing Content Coordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

Umbraco is flexible and user-friendly, making it easy to update content without needing technical support. Its interface is intuitive, and the CMS provides strong customization options, which help our team tailor pages and workflows to suit our needs. The media library and content organization tools also make managing assets straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

Some features can feel hidden or unintuitive at first, especially for users who are still learning the platform. Certain tasks like troubleshooting broken content, managing pull content, or adjusting templates, may require extra steps or developer assistance. The occasional system lag or staging downtime can also slow the workflow.

I also don’t like that sometimes when I publish one page to production, other pages that weren’t supposed to go live end up getting published too. It makes the process feel a bit unpredictable.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Umbraco helps streamline content management by making it easy to update pages, organize assets, and keep information consistent across the site. It reduces the need for developer support for everyday tasks, which speeds up publishing and helps me work more efficiently. The structured layout and customizable features also make it easier to maintain branding and ensure content stays accurate and aligned with our workflow.

 ### 7. Exceptionally User-Friendly and Powerful CMS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Will S. | Junior Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I love how user friendly it is, while still being able to complete difficult tasks. We have been able to migrate many sites from other CMS's to Umbraco, and within less than a day, our clients know how to navigate around the backoffice, add blocks to the pages, and more.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

I can only think of 1 negative, which is that some of the Umbraco courses can be slightly misleading at times, but that is about it.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Umbraco is solving bugs day in, day out that the community finds, or adding new features, finding vulnerabilities etc. This benefits me as I know full well that all of my sites are safe, and me and my clients can rest easy. Similarly, I know that if I do find something such as a bug, or a feature that I think would help, I know that I can reach out to the Umbraco support team, and they will reply to me and support me through finding a fix. In the meantime, I can send a message on the discord, raise a forum ticket, or even put up a post on LinkedIn, to see if anyone else has the same issue, or knows a fix, as the community is so welcoming, and treats everyone like family.

 ### 8. Easy Customization and Use, Looking Forward to Modern Updates

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tommy Vo MICA . | Sr Digital Marketing Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I continue to use V10 for my work and appreciate its customization features. Overall, it is user-friendly, and I am looking forward to the upcoming v17 update, which promises to give the back-office a more modern appearance.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

Comparing to WP, Umbraco is not where it should for modern day. Setting it up required significant technical expertise to configure the source code, which also means that customization is largely dependent on the vendor. Since Umbraco is not as widely recognized, vendors tend to be expensive for any type of project involving Umbraco. I hope that future versions will be easier to learn and develop with.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My company needed to manage site security internally rather than relying on third parties or plugins. With Umbraco, we are able to handle nearly all aspects ourselves, which aligns well with our policy and compliance requirements.

 ### 9. Effortless to Use, Lightning Fast, and Outstanding Support

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tommy R. | Communications Officer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

As a daily user of Umbraco, I find it very easy to use. The user interface is clearly laid out, making it simple for new users to learn the CMS quickly, which is especially helpful since I am responsible for training others. We make use of the news and events features on our website, and the way Umbraco automatically renders images is extremely convenient, saving us a lot of time. The load times are probably the fastest I have experienced; moving between content, media, and forms is seamless. Whenever we have encountered issues, the Umbraco team has been quick to respond and resolve our tickets, showing great responsiveness.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

Small details, such as the absence of a clear format button when uploading copy to a webpage, can be frustrating. It would be much more convenient if there were an option to upload media—like pictures or documents—in bulk and then adjust all their properties from a single page, rather than having to edit each one individually. This would save a lot of time. Similarly, having the ability to delete or move multiple pages at once would also be a helpful improvement.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We manage the website for a large organization, which means we frequently need to update content. Thanks to how easy it is to use and its flexible styling options, we’re able to meet our clients’ needs quickly and efficiently. Being able to reduce turnaround times allows us to accomplish much more, and it also improves the user experience by ensuring the information we provide is always current.

 ### 10. The best CMS on the market; by a long shot

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan W. | Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I have been using Umbraco for over 5 years at this point. Daily use.
I've seen my fair share of content management systems, from Wordpress, Joomla to custom built ones some of which i've even built myself. However, generally, there's not much Umbraco can't do.

Extremely easy to get set up initially.
It's also easy enough to expand Umbraco, to integrate various packages or even to write your own backoffice plugins, dashboards, packages or content apps.

Umbraco is lightweight without a lot of the extra fluff; the best user and member experience you could get in my opinion.

Customer Support has been good for us, especially as we're Umbraco partners.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

Examine based issues can occur sometimes; such as index corruption or failure to rebuild

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing clients with a content management system that is easy to learn, easy to use and near limitless to upgrade in order to more effectively drive engagement to their website and cooperate with marketing and more.

 ### 11. Simple Operation, High Adaptability

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marc M.

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I like that the interface of Umbraco is very simple and clearly structured. You quickly learn how to handle it, and once you understand the principle, it's easy to figure out where you need to make changes and how they affect things. Additionally, getting started with Umbraco was extremely easy for me, with a tutorial by Paul Seal on YouTube being very helpful.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

I think it would be cool if there were a kind of placeholder image function. For an image media picker, you always need an image in the media area. I would find it cool if, during development, there were a function to simulate a temporary dummy image for this media picker.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Umbraco solves content management problems by enabling customers to manage their content themselves. The interface is easy to use, with clear structuring, which makes operation easier after understanding the principles.

 ### 12. A Flexible and Developer-Friendly CMS Built on .NET

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mário C. | Software developer and analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

What I appreciate most about Umbraco is its balance between flexibility and structure. It offers a robust CMS foundation while allowing developers to build fully customized solutions in .NET. This makes it suitable for everything from straightforward content sites to complex digital platforms. The intuitive backoffice also empowers editors to manage content efficiently without technical expertise.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

Upgrading between major Umbraco versions can sometimes be challenging, particularly when dealing with custom code or third-party packages. However, the improvements and new capabilities introduced in each release make the effort worthwhile.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Umbraco allows us to manage our website content easily and efficiently without relying on developers for every update. It gives us full control over pages, offers, and vehicle listings while keeping the platform stable and scalable. The flexibility of Umbraco also lets us integrate custom features, such as dynamic pricing, which directly improve our customer experience and operational efficiency.

 ### 13. Flexible Platform with Outstanding Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael S. | Consultant

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I really appreciate the back office of Umbraco. It's incredibly flexible and very easy to use, offering a powerful number of features, and further functionality available through the marketplace that allow us to add on elements. The cloud service, Umbraco Cloud, is fantastic, and the staff supporting it are brilliant! Super helpful, friendly, and communicate really well. The initial setup with Umbraco Cloud was incredibly easy. Alongside using Umbraco for content management within our SaaS platform, we also use it for our marketing website because of its ease of use.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

The main thing is that it lacks the ability to enforce multifactor authentication from the back office users section, instead this needs to be done within Umbraco Cloud identity. This feels like a security gap.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Umbraco helps us rapidly develop our platform and provides a scalable, flexible industry-leading platform with its super friendly user interface.

 ### 14. Outdated Interface and Limited Customization Make Umbraco Challenging for Modern Sites

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civic & Social Organization | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 26, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

The Umbraco platform is good for large teams that have many users making and editing web pages. It is also good for websites that have many pages, such as those with blogs or news articles.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

I am not exactly a web-building guru, but Umbraco is definitely one of the less advanced options out there. The web pages look like they are from 2010. At least to my knowledge, there are no animations available and the customization is extremely limited. Just getting the text to wrap correctly or making columns is a challenge.

The user interface is also very old school. There is no visual builder, so you constantly have to input your stuff in clunky backend modules and then preview them separately to make sure everything looks okay. I would not recommend Umbraco to anyone who wants a sleek, modern-looking website or who is new to web building.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All of our websites are hosted on Umbraco, which includes separate sites for each country office and our international website.

**Official Response from Niels Laursen:**

> Thanks for sharing your experience so openly.

We’re glad Umbraco is supporting your multi-site setup across countries and teams. Managing many editors and large volumes of content is something the platform is designed to handle well, so it’s good to hear that part is working for you.

We’re sorry to hear that the editing experience and visual result feel outdated or limiting. It’s important to clarify that Umbraco itself doesn’t dictate how a website looks or whether it includes animations, modern layouts, or advanced design elements. The visual output, styling, animations, and layout flexibility are defined entirely by how the site is designed and built. Umbraco provides the framework and content structure, but the front-end experience is fully customizable.

The same applies to the editing experience. Some implementations offer highly visual, block-based editing with flexible layouts, while others are structured in a more rigid way. That structure is determined during the build phase.

That said, your feedback about usability and modern expectations is valid. The bar for intuitive, visual editing tools is higher than ever, and it’s something we continue investing in with each new version of the platform.

We appreciate you taking the time to leave a detailed review. It helps highlight where expectations and implementations don’t always align, and that’s important for us to understand.

 ### 15. Intuitive CMS with plenty of customisation options

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roberto R. | Digital Content Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

Umbraco's open source nature is fantastic for implementing additional functionality. This, in turn, allows you to customise everything to suit your business needs and goals. The platform is also incredibly intuitive and since we started using Umbraco ten months ago I've been able to train other in-house users with ease. From a campaign perspective, having the option of conditional fields within Forms is a huge benefit and it's a feature we use often when catering content to specific audiences.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

When in grid view and looking at lots of uploaded documents, Umbraco doesn't allow you to drag the column outwards to reveal the full PDF name. This can be frustrating when trying to locate multiple, similarly named documents in a particular folder.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our previous CMS platform (Sitefinity) was clunky, not very user-friendly and had little in the way of customisation. In comparison, Umbraco has a terrific user interface, is easy to use and has a enormous amount of customisation options. With the latter, Umbraco's tools / open source nature are allowing us to scale appropriately as a business and ensure our website functionality gives visitors a great experience. Also, for the first time in my 15 years of employment, we've been able to train a second in-house user on how to make CMS updates... that's all thanks to Umbraco's intuitive interface!

 ### 16. Friendly and flexible

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Minty B. | Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I really like Umbraco because of how incredibly flexible it is, it adapts to a wide range of project needs, whether you're building a simple site or a complex application. Development can move fast thanks to its robust out of the box features, which save time without sacrificing customisation. The diverse ecosystem of packages makes it easy to extend functionality without reinventing the wheel, and for someone new to content management systems, Umbraco is a fantastic learning platform. Its intuitive interface and strong community support make it approachable, while still offering depth for more advanced users.

Umbraco is also very user friendly when it comes to managing content. Adding and editing pages is straightforward, with a clean interface that makes it easy to navigate even for beginners. You can make changes quickly and preview exactly how they'll appear before publishing, which gives you confidence that everything looks just right. This real-time feedback loop is especially helpful when collaborating with clients or stakeholders who want to see updates instantly. It streamlines the content workflow and helps maintain a polished, professional site without unnecessary delays.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

One aspect of Umbraco that I find frustrating is working with nested content. While it's powerful for structuring complex data, it can quickly become overwhelming when there are too many layers buried within each other. Navigating through deeply nested fields to make a simple change often feels tedious and unintuitive, especially when you're trying to maintain clarity across multiple content types. It can slow down the editing process and make it harder to spot where specific content lives, which isn't ideal when you're aiming for efficiency or collaborating with less technical users.

I also wish you could see exactly what changes were made when reviewing the history of the page.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Umbraco solves several key problems that often come with managing and building websites. First, it streamlines content management by offering an intuitive interface that makes it easy to create, edit, and organise content without needing deep technical knowledge. This benefits me by saving time and reducing the learning curve, especially when working with clients or teams who aren't developers. It also solves the problem of rigid development workflows, its flexibility and out the box features allow for rapid prototyping and customisation, which means I can deliver solutions faster. Plus, with a wide range of community built packages, we don’t have to build everything from scratch, which boosts efficiency and encourages experimentation. Overall, Umbraco helps us work smarter, not harder, while still producing high quality, scalable websites.

 ### 17. Simple, Straightforward CMS Interface.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jade B. | Graphic Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I like the interface and think it is simple and straightforward to use, with setting up new pages, adding information, photos etc. As someone who was fairly new to using CMS, I picked it up very easily, with little training/guidance.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

I am yet to find anything that sticks out massively as something I dislike.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Umbraco helps us to integrate with our third-party systems for a simple output for customers to use. There is so much customisation available to suit all of our wide range of business needs.

 ### 18. Smooth, Stress-Free Content Editing with Umbraco

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jona D. | Junior Graphic Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

Umbraco makes content editing feel smooth and stress‑free, which helps me stay focused on design instead of getting stuck on complicated systems.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

it can feel a little complex to navigate when you're just trying to make quick updates..

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Instead of relying on developers for every small update, I can make changes myself like updating text, swapping images, or adjusting layout sections without breaking anything. This benefits me by giving me more control and confidence when working on website-related design tasks.

 ### 19. Flexible, .NET-Based Solution with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tomas V. | Freelance Digital Transformation Consultant

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I like how Umbraco is .NET based, which fits perfectly with our existing technology stack since we already have .NET developers. This makes integration seamless and allows us to stay close to our tech stack. I appreciate that Umbraco is free to use, which makes it highly budget-friendly for our company. The platform is also easily extendable and completely configurable, allowing us to tailor it to our specific needs without the excessive clutter we experienced with systems like WordPress. Moreover, the initial setup was quite easy, facilitating a smooth transition from our previous system. Additionally, we have successfully built an API into Umbraco to sync properties with our website, a feature that works very well for us.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

I find the editor in Umbraco to be a bit cumbersome to use. It presents a learning curve, which can be quite challenging, especially for those unfamiliar with the system. Additionally, it's problematic that you don't always visually see the results of your changes immediately when dealing with custom elements. This lack of immediate feedback can slow down the workflow and complicate the editing process.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Umbraco for managing our website with multiple users; it's configurable and fits our .NET tech stack, being free and budget-friendly compared to WordPress.

 ### 20. User-Friendly Interface, But Performance Could Improve

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rebecca F. | Vista Product Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

This product is impressively straightforward and dependable. It’s easy to use right from the start, and its consistent reliability makes the whole experience feel effortless. It does exactly what you need it to do, without any fuss.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

While Umbraco is powerful and flexible, it can feel a bit overwhelming for newcomers. Some tasks that should be simple—like configuring certain components or managing more advanced content structures—can require extra steps or deeper technical knowledge. The learning curve can be steeper than expected, and documentation doesn’t always feel as clear or complete as it could be. Overall, it’s a strong platform, but it can take time and patience to fully get comfortable with it.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating web pages for customer use

 ### 21. Powerful, Flexible, and Developer-Centric: Umbraco Cloud is Our Go-To for a Reason

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tebalo T. | Developer, Financial Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

As a team managing multiple channels (website, adviser portal, etc.) across a three-platform environment (dev, staging, production), Umbraco Cloud has been a game-changer. Since our preferred technology stack is Microsoft, the fact that Umbraco is built on the .NET framework was a major advantage. It allowed us to leverage our existing in-house expertise, which contributed to a remarkably smooth ease of implementation.

The platform's flexibility from a development perspective is its best feature. The ability to write our own custom property editors is invaluable, allowing us to tailor the content management experience precisely to our editors' needs. This simplifies complex tasks and ensures brand consistency. Furthermore, the power to add custom APIs gives us the headless capabilities we need to integrate Umbraco seamlessly with our other business-critical systems.

Whenever we've needed guidance, the documentation has been readily available and comprehensive. On the rare occasion we've hit a roadblock, the support has been incredibly responsive and knowledgeable. Combined with the streamlined deployment pipeline and the ability to easily add our custom domain, Umbraco Cloud provides the perfect balance of creative freedom and enterprise-level reliability.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

While the flexibility is a huge plus, it comes with a steeper learning curve compared to more restrictive, plug-and-play CMS platforms. A developer new to the Umbraco or .NET ecosystem will need some ramp-up time to fully grasp its architecture and best practices.

Additionally, while the core product is solid, the quality of third-party packages can sometimes be inconsistent. It requires a bit of due diligence from our development team to vet packages before integrating them to ensure they are stable, secure, and well-maintained.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Umbraco Cloud solves the problem of managing complex, multi-site digital properties without sacrificing developer control or content editor experience. It has allowed us to move away from a one-size-fits-all approach.

The key benefits for us at PSG have been:

1. A streamlined development workflow with reliable deployments from dev to production.
2. Increased efficiency for our content team through a highly customized and intuitive editing interface.
3. Seamless integration with our existing technology stack, ensuring data flows where it needs to.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

Back-office customization isn’t very easy, and upgrading from one version to the next could be smoother and more straightforward.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The screens are easy and ready to use for content editors, and the headless mode solved the problem of injecting the SPA into Razor views.

 ### 27. Easy to Use with Room for UI Improvements

 ### 28. Flexible and Open Source, But Needs Better Accessibility

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rick D. | Rick, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I like the versatility of Umbraco, which can be used for a variety of website solutions, from healthcare providers to government agencies, and insurance companies. The open-source nature of Umbraco is highly appreciated as it assures our customers of avoiding vendor lock-in, granting them confidence when choosing service providers. I find Umbraco extremely user-friendly and uncomplicated, providing our end users with a lot of freedom to manage and structure their content efficiently. The way data sources can be used to centrally manage reusable content is remarkable, providing a single source of truth, which is essential for our customers. I also enjoy how easy it is to copy components and use the clipboard feature, which stays with you during browsing, making page building straightforward for users. Additionally, the initial setup was very easy, especially with experienced developers on board, which speaks volumes about the accessibility of the platform. Overall, I am very satisfied and highly likely to recommend Umbraco to others, rating it a 9 out of 10.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

I am missing accessibility features like accessibility checks in the content editor. I also want to manage the alt-text of images in the places where the image is selected. Sometimes I want the alt-text to be empty or different from what is defined in the media library. I would like WCAG checks in the WYSIWYG editor so editors are notified of potential issues.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Umbraco provides open-source solutions, ensuring no vendor lock-in. It enables users to manage content effortlessly with easy copying and a mobile clipboard. It centralizes content management, offering a single source of truth, and enhances usability with its simple interface.

 ### 29. Intuitive innovative CMS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hussein K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2023

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

Recently, I’ve really appreciated how Umbraco continues to evolve — especially with the improvements in performance, the cleaner backoffice interface in the newer versions, and the seamless integration with modern technologies like .NET 8 and Azure. The enhanced content editing experience and the new block-based editors make it even easier for content teams to manage complex page layouts without needing developer input.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

One area Umbraco could improve is the upgrade process between major versions. While things have gotten smoother with the move to .NET Core, upgrading from older versions can still require significant manual work. Additionally, having more official integrations and documentation for popular third-party services would make development and deployment even faster.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Many websites and web applications have unique blend of design & development requirements that cannot be met by one-size-fits-all solutions. Umbraco's flexibility allows developers to create custom content structures, templates, and functionality to tailor the platform to specific needs and produce cutting edge website with less time then its enterprise competitors.

I find it excellent for document management and replacing PDFs quickly. I also like how easy it is to set up online contact forms.

I use Umbraco to update the company website quickly and delegate editing rights. It's excellent for document management and setting up online contact forms easily.

 ### 31. Easy to Use and Great for Brand Consistency, But Requires Lots of Clicking

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Megan S. | Marketing & Business Development Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

We're just launching our new website with Umbraco, so we're learning everything it can do. Initially, it's allowing our employees to create a standardized look for our product offerings. Using the various modules, we can maintain our brand throughout all pages. It's very easy to use and has straightforward navigation.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

There's a lot of clicking to add various content pieces to the flexible content areas. We also have lots of products (which are pages), and there's no easy way to search or find the pages.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our previous platform is being phased out, so we needed to transition to a new platform. The platform we needed needed to be able to talk to HubSpot, our current CMS (netForum) and handle various roles of people.

 ### 32. Reliable Platform, Slight UI Challenges

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ted D. | Teamlead Campagnes | Expert in Recruitment Marketing, Jobmarketing & Employer Branding

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I have found Umbraco to be an essential tool for storing our company data and assets, which can be easily shared with customers. I was impressed with how it immediately appeared to be the exact solution we needed, simplifying the implementation process significantly. Umbraco has proven to be really easy to use, as it offers a variety of useful functionalities, especially the ability to connect everything. One of the most beneficial features is the custom-made tool that allows our customers to log in, select different job boards and media, and automatically sends us an email with the proposal, which we can promptly upload and communicate back. This process ensures customers have a 24/7 portal, eliminating the need for sending individual emails, thus saving a significant amount of time. Also, the integration through its API, which lets our customers seamlessly specify their needs online and have us respond directly with proposals via Umbraco, has been incredibly useful for us.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

I find that the user interface of Umbraco can sometimes be a bit challenging.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Umbraco enables easy data and asset sharing with customers, automating communication and saving time by creating a 24/7 accessible portal for them.

 ### 33. Umbraco’s Starter User since 2006 and Still Booming 💥🚀 with it till Eternity

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

It is through Umbraco, that I have been able to showcase our completed construction projects since 2006 via live website/Portfolio.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

I am using the Starter plan at it is accomplishing all my needs - looking to upgrade to Standard soon as our construction biz is booming.

 ### 34. Using Umbraco within my business

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Liam M. | D, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2023

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

The best thing about Umbraco for me is the ease of use, but also the complexity of what Umbraco can be used for. I enjoy the quality of the system and also how quickly you can make changes.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

the least helpful thing is being signed out during a period of inactivity, although it is a useful system, it is annoying at times and can mean i lose work i have done before being pulled into meetings.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

helping us solve SEO business problems, solve content creation problems and also problems updating old content in a quick and easy situation, meaning we can keep our sites up to date.

 ### 35. Solid and can be convenient but some obvious areas for improvement

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Commercial Real Estate | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I like the centralised media function and the ease of use when choosing and implementing modules. Being able to use custom presets and copy/paste modules has been a very big help when putting content across many pages.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

It feels like there isn't enough control on my end on how exactly modules can look on a page compared to competitors' CMS systems. Basic HTML functionality appears as an option but when I try to use it the HTML changes I make do not apply when previewing/publishing a module.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Umbraco is giving us options for how we build our webpage and has functionality that can be linked across to our app and make things more convenient. With some work with our development partners there are QoL changes that can be and are being added, which slowly makes things less manual and enables me to focus more time on creating content compared to uploading it.

 ### 36. Powerful, customisable CMS for all.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

Umbraco's ecosystem keeps growing and with version 14 dropping Angular and using Web Components, TypeScript, and the Umbraco UI Library the back office experience just keeps getting better, this along with the new RESTful API it makes managing content from the code side even easier, especially with integrations.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

With dropping Angular and using the new back office this has lead to some teething issues, things that used to work no longer do or things often work in a different way than we are used to, these bugs do get fixed at a fast pace but it's still frustrating at times.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building websites from scratch can be quite time-consuming and as a more technical person I always find it hard to build beautiful UIs, with Umbraco I have been able to use the uSkinned site builder to create beautiful, responsive websites incredibly quickly and has allowed me to focus more on the actual logic which is where my strong suite is.

 ### 37. A Flexible and Developer-Friendly CMS That Grows With Your Needs

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** siddhi k. | Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

Umbraco’s flexibility and clean architecture make it one of the easiest CMS platforms to work with. The interface is extremely user-friendly for content editors, and the customisation capabilities are great for developers.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

Major version upgrades can be time-consuming, and sometimes third-party packages are needed for common features.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Umbraco solves the complexity and heavy setup overhead I’ve experienced with other enterprise CMS platforms like Sitecore XP/XM. It’s extremely easy to install, lightweight, and provides a friendly, intuitive environment for both developers and content editors. This saves time during setup, reduces maintenance effort, and allows teams to focus more on building features rather than managing infrastructure.

 ### 38. Efficient and User-Friendly with Strong Support

Umbraco handles updates and new document uploads with seamless efficiency, resolving previous difficulties I've faced with content management. The support I've received has been extensive, making initial setup very simple and tackling any issues that arise. This ease of use enables me to focus on other tasks, enhancing my productivity throughout the day. Overall, the features Umbraco offers are invaluable in making my work faster and more efficient.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

I find the process of inputting images and videos into Umbraco not as straightforward as it could be, and making this process simpler would be beneficial.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Umbraco simplifies content management, making it easy to upload and update content quickly. It solves editing difficulties by allowing efficient document updates and quick edits, which enhances my productivity.

 ### 39. Flexibility and Ease of Use with Umbraco

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** joaquin r.

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I greatly appreciate the flexibility that Umbraco offers, especially because it integrates perfectly with modern technologies like .NET, APIs, Azure, and other Microsoft tools, which is crucial in our market. The possibility of customization is also a significant advantage for me, allowing me to adapt the system precisely to the client's specifications, which is ideal for configuring custom systems with enterprise integrations. The user-friendly interface is another notable feature that is not only flexible but also intuitive, providing ease both to the end user and from the developer's perspective. It saves us invaluable time as it excellently handles content through templates and logic in Razor and C#, perfectly meeting the clients' requirements. Additionally, the active community and additional resources like useful packages greatly contribute to enhancing the overall experience, as they offer support and an expansion capability that other competitors do not have.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

It bothers me that when reporting errors, Umbraco seems to show the same error for all issues. I would prefer these errors to be more specific and clear, as this would allow for less time wasted trying to resolve them or find the root of the problem.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Umbraco saves time with its flexibility and customization, facilitates integration with enterprise systems and Microsoft cloud services, and offers an intuitive interface, stability, and security, meeting customer demands.

 ### 40. Easy to Use and Intuitive—Great for Non-Computer Science Staff

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

It is easy to use and very intuitive for non cumpter science staff like myself.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

1-Changes to our website are not inmediately visible on the browser. Maybe is not umbraco related though.
2-Accessories with 0 price should not be visible
3-Accessories with blank description should not be visible

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saves time compared to previous systems we used in the past. I am the accessory guy I know how to solve problems with descriptions or other issues and it is very fast that I can ammend any specific local issue without having to contact technicians through a chat.

 ### 41. Umbraco has great support that is fast to respond

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Atrio H. | Systems Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

The support team is excellent. Whenever I have an issue, they usually have it resolved within 24 hours or less.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

The way that the system is laid out makes it harder to know where to go to edit specific parts.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They solve issues like problems with deploying updates via Visual Studio. It benefits ATRIO because they always respond quickly to questions and issues.

 ### 42. We use Umbraco for our main public facing website

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Neeraj P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2023

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

We like it that Umbraco still overs an on-premise solution rather than other products which are forcing cloud only. This allows us to test and tweak the product without any third party restrictions such as being able to access the database directly. New non-technical users can still easily learn to make changes so it is very user friendly.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

When rebuilding the site, the site is up faster now than before. This could be due to optimisations on Umbraco side or our own server environment. Migration to the latest version is proving tricky but at least the support for older versions are maintained rather than being abandoned at the next new version release.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy content management without the need to know any HTML. This makes it easy for our non-techy users to update content on our website. Previously it all was all hard coded website by developers.

 ### 43. Convenient Website Management, Slightly Slow at Times

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

 ### 44. Flexible CMS with strong usability and reliable support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

What I like most about Umbraco is that projects can be implemented incredibly smoothly with it. Even complex requirements suddenly seem easy to solve because the system is very clearly structured and you quickly reach your goal. The ease of implementation is one of the biggest advantages – from the initial configuration to ongoing content maintenance, everything works surprisingly smoothly. Clients also find their way around well without long training, which significantly simplifies the entire process.

We use Umbraco in almost all web projects because the implementation works so efficiently and the results are reliably convincing. If questions arise, you quickly get competent support – whether through the support team or the active community. Additionally, Umbraco can be seamlessly integrated with other systems, making it a true all-rounder in daily use.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

What is sometimes challenging are smaller details that only become apparent during larger projects – for example, that some extensions or integrations still need some fine-tuning. Updates can also occasionally mean effort if very customized solutions have been implemented.

None of this is a real obstacle, but it shows that Umbraco really plays to its strengths when you work with it regularly and take some time to really get to know the system and configure it optimally.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A major problem that Umbraco solves for us is the combination of technical flexibility and editorial simplicity. Many CMS systems are either very developer-heavy or too limited for complex requirements – Umbraco strikes the perfect balance here.

This allows our clients to manage content independently and without the need for training, while we as an agency can implement technically demanding setups and integrations without any issues. This saves a tremendous amount of time in projects, reduces support requests, and ensures long-term customer satisfaction and stable solutions.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

Personally, making it easier to reorder pages than it is already would be great. Drag and drop would be easier in the side bar.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Umbraco provides a centralized platform for showcasing our vehicle stock, ensuring uniformity across website pages, unlike our old system.

**What do you like best about Umbraco?**

I really appreciate that Umbraco is open-source and built on the .NET framework, which makes it highly extensible, secure, and developer-friendly. It offers a clean and intuitive CMS interface, strong API support, and a flexible architecture that allows seamless integration with third-party systems like CRMs and APIs.

Additionally, the active community, rich plugin ecosystem, and frequent updates make it easy to customize and scale solutions. Its content modeling flexibility and support for headless and composable architectures also stand out, making Umbraco suitable for both traditional and modern web applications.

**What do you dislike about Umbraco?**

Honestly, there isn’t much to dislike — Umbraco is quite straightforward and easy to use. However, because it’s so flexible and developer-oriented, sometimes the initial setup and configuration can require more technical knowledge compared to some plug-and-play CMS platforms. Also, certain advanced features like form handling or workflow management often need additional packages or customization rather than being available out of the box.

**What problems is Umbraco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For me, this means I can rapidly develop and deploy websites, integrate them seamlessly with third-party systems like CRMs or APIs, and ensure that the solution is maintainable and scalable over time. Its open-source nature and strong .NET foundation also give me the freedom to customize functionality exactly as needed, which saves time and reduces reliance on workarounds.
