What do you like best about UltraTax CS?

Ultra Tax is fast and data input is straightforward. Unlike the last version of ProSystem fxTax Tax I used, Ultra Tax lets you quickly switch between form and input view without needing time to recalculate. This makes it so much easier to see what the results of your work and make sure inputs are correct. The ability to bring over K-1s from other entity returns prepared in Ultra Tax works well.

Support is knowledgeable and helpful, although wait times for support can get long during busy season. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about UltraTax CS?

The organizer system for individual returns isn't as good as ProSystem fxTax's organizer system. Ultra Tax generates a decent organizer, but there isn't a good way to index organizers once they're scanned. Allocating income from K-1s between states is a pain, although I don't know of any tax software that handles it better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering UltraTax CS:

Of the big two software programs for tax prep (UltraTax and Prosystems fx Tax) Ultra Tax definitely has the edge for corporate returns because it's faster and easier to use. I think Ultra Tax still has the edge for personal returns since it's faster, although I wish there were a better way to scan and index workpapers, the organizer, and client files. Thomson Reuters Filecabinet can do some indexing, but it's not as good at indexing documents and organizers for individual tax returns as Prosystems software.
