What do you like best about UltraEdit?

UltraEdit is a small, fast and very handy editor. You don't have to start and park it in the background if there might be a possible demand on it. It handles the file formats good and is very helpful by opening even hex-files. Macro-recording is simple and helps to make multiple modifications very simple. Even Win and Linux are supported! Same syntax on both OS Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about UltraEdit?

The response to necessary updates on LINUX is unaccaptable. Windows version is under contious updates but promisses for a new Linux version for Feb 21 are gone with the wind. Neither a new Linux version nor any announcements - bad. The edit-windows for Linux are handled completly different than in Win. Parallel scrolling in Linux is not implemented :-(. "Amazingly flexible software for coding and analysis of data files of unknown format and origin."
5/5
What do you like best about UltraEdit?

The ability to flip between hex and ascii views to look at binary data files that usually have some ASCII strings hidden in them. Can handle really large files. The ability to do Python coding with all the handy formatting, hints, and code analysis available in Ultraedit to handle said data files is also great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about UltraEdit?

The interface can look a bit jarring, but it never changes from one version to the next by much so you always know where your command is. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent Software and support"
5/5
What do you like best about UltraEdit?

This is easy to use and has so many features. The best for me is probably the find in files and find/replace in files features that save me so much time, although I do like the colour coding for different elements of a page. I am also pleased with the level of support. My questions are always answered quickly and answers received are always extremely clear. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about UltraEdit?

I can't think of anything I dislike at all. Everything works so well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"An excellent text editor!"
4/5
What do you like best about UltraEdit?

As someone who has used UE for almost 20 years, I find the latest version to be the shining star of the UltraEdit family. In terms of features, stability and being a solid product, it can't be beat! The Tech Support is really good as well. If you are on the fence about getting a copy, or an open-source text editor product, spend the money and get UE. It will be well spent! What do you like best about UltraEdit?

It's quick. Load quick, searches quick. I use other IDEs, but I've fallen back to this for years. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about UltraEdit?

I did have to buy a separate copy of ulltra compare. But it is probably the best file compare tool I've used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Very trustworthy company"
5/5
What do you like best about UltraEdit?

I am not commenting on the rich of features, because I am very sure other people will do. I limit myself on user experience.

I have been an UltraEdit (and some other IDM products) user since at least 20 years. It is so long to remember exactly how many years. When UltraEdit (UE) started, online sale did not exist. It was sold via things called Shareware. Although I have retired quite long, I am still using UE. I still bought new version of UE for my new computer. My experience is truly so good, which I do not see at any other vendors. I have absolute confidence in IDM.

The user interface is so well organized. Although UE is so feature rich, it is easy to get familiar with. The support staff is excellent. I do not recall any time that I have to wait for more than a day to get a response. Usually, they answer within hours. Their staff is very polite and professional.

About quality? Before retiring, I was a tester for decades. So, my job was to find ways to break our own product before release. With that background (breaking product), I have never seen UE crash. Of course, I did not intentionally break UE, but I use as a user. For example, sometimes I load HUGE log files into UE to invest a problem. Through out decades of using UE, I see only minor problems.

Finally, I really recommend people to consider buying life-time upgrade. When I initially bought UE, that option did not exist. UltraCompare (UC) came much later after UE with that option. Since I had such positive experience with UE, I decided to buy life-time upgrade for UC. I paid once and I get all new features for close to 20 years for free. If the vendor is not trustful, I would not pay life-time upgrade. They may not exist in years! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about UltraEdit?

I cannot think of what I dislike, eventhough I have been a customer for so long. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
