Now it has become a cross-platform application and I can use it on Windows, Mac and Linux to edit text, code or hex files, locally or over ftp. Having a common shared interface on all platforms is a plus for my work as is being able to organize files in different projects and sharing configuration on my various computers or different virtual machines. IDM support has always been the best in the few times I had any issues in more than 15 years of use. I has a ton of features, from advanced search and replace to syntax highlighting for many different languages, multiple file editing with tabs, split view to edit different parts of the same file and many more. **What do you dislike about UltraEdit?** Nothing, I love it. I have been using it for years to fill all my coding and editing needs. It's a superb editor overall. Maybe it has too many options now, as I keep using the same functions over and over and have not used many of the new features added over time. **Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:** You have to try it. It is available for download for free on UltraEdit website and you can try it for 30 days. If you need a full featured, cross-platform, text, code, hex, column editor that is capable of editing large files and also compare different files locally or remotely, this is your editor. Very customizable and easy to use but column editing is my favorite feature of all, I have lost count of how many times I switch to column editing in Ultraedit. I've been able to manipulate files using macros and pre-built functions with relative ease. I have some cases when HTML files are produced thru an automated system. I'm easily able to preview them with the Browser View function. We receive XML files from clients and the XML rendering and the XML manager is very helpful. The ability for UltraEdit to handle very large files. **What do you dislike about UltraEdit?** The inability to seamlessly integrate with Git. Not sure how, but I'd like the ability to run macros that interface with AWS (downloading files from S3, or read from DynamoDb for instance) but that may be a bit of a stretch. The XML manager could be beefed up a bit. **What problems is UltraEdit solving and how is that benefiting you?** For one, we get log files downloaded formatted in CSV format.
