## About Ubuntu
Ubuntu is the Linux OS that’s made for everyone. Harness the freedom and creativity of open source, from laptops and workstations to servers and IoT devices Published by Canonical, Ubuntu brings you the best of open source, backed by enterprise-grade assurance. Ubuntu delivers a unified and stable experience. Ubuntu serves as an interoperable platform, from the desktop to the edge. Wherever you innovate, you can expect high-performance and the same rich tooling ecosystem. Through community and partnership, we ensure that Ubuntu is always at the cutting-edge. Open source contributors work to ensure that the latest applications, tools and libraries have a home in the Ubuntu ecosystem. Our hardware partners, such as Dell, Lenovo, HP, IBM and NVIDIA, work with us to certify Ubuntu out-of-the-box on the latest boards, devices and chipsets, through a series of over 500 OS compatibility tests per device. When the time comes to scale up, Ubuntu provides integrations to make device governance manageable. Enforce strict identity management protocols with support for Microsoft Active Directory, Entra ID and Google Cloud platform, through Ubuntu’s AuthD broker. Ubuntu’s regular release cadence empowers you to plan ahead with confidence. Across your stack, Ubuntu LTS (long-term support) releases receive 5 years of patching and maintenance as standard. Additional enterprise-grade support is delivered through Ubuntu Pro - Canonical’s comprehensive subscription for open source security. Ubuntu Pro expands security patching and maintenance for up to 12 years and includes tooling for hardening and compliance, enabling you to stay ahead of CVEs, minimize downtime and meet your regulatory requirements. This includes support for frameworks such as FIPS, DISA STIG, NIST and the Cyber Resilience Act.

## Ubuntu Reviews
  ### 1. An Amazing OS

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** krishna h. | Application Development Senior Analyst, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Ubuntu?**

The smooth, swift and user-friendly interface makes the OS the best. Unlike its peers in the market, it does not compromise in any features. Unbelievable security provided as well

**What do you dislike about Ubuntu?**

To be very honest, there is nothing to dislike about Ubuntu. There is room for improvement like guesture enablement and pen / touch support can be added which might be amazing

**What problems is Ubuntu solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As mentioned earlier, Ubuntu solves mostly all the issues I have while using any of its competitors' OS in the market. Firstly, it doesn't compromise security. There is no tension of virus.

  ### 2. A Disappointment

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Program Development | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2018

**What do you like best about Ubuntu?**

I downloaded Ubuntu 18.04 Desktop & Server and anxiously installed it on one of my laptops. I hadn't true Ubuntu since the Gnome desktop was removed. I was looking forward to using it again. It installed without a hitch on a dual boot Win/Linux computer. Once the final steps were completed I downloaded some my favorite apps. That is when the problems started. Chrome installed but after logging in to get my bookmarks, etc. the browser locked up. I downloaded Ninja-IDE but it would start. Double-checking on it did nothing. I also tried to install a Remote Desktop app, but it would not startup either. Three strikes and I'm moving on.

I was so looking forward to installing Ubuntu Server and trying out the IoT OS on some hardware I recently built. Instead I will take the time to find a Desktop that supports Chrome, Remote Desktop, and other developer apps. I will look for a stable server OS and probably give Mongoose a try on my IoT ideas. Maybe I'll try Ubuntu again sometime if I don't find the perfect Desktop OS. What a disappointment though.

**What do you dislike about Ubuntu?**

Applications that would run once installed.

**Recommendations to others considering Ubuntu:**

Evaluate before rolling out.

**What problems is Ubuntu solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No benefits

  ### 3. I couldn't get my computere`wd1 to turn off

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kim H. | Staff Writer, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2016

**What do you like best about Ubuntu?**

Open Source is always a good thing. I default to Open Source when I have the chance.

**What do you dislike about Ubuntu?**

My computer, literally, would not turn off when this was a part of the action.

**Recommendations to others considering Ubuntu:**

Make sure it is compatible with your needs. And that your computer will turn off.

**What problems is Ubuntu solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My problems are fewer now that I don't use Ubuntu

  ### 4. Fine for the desktop

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2016

**What do you like best about Ubuntu?**

Desktop offering is best in class, easy to install and use.

**What do you dislike about Ubuntu?**

Package manger is still based on deb files. Long term support isn't that long. Lack of package review introduces more updates more often and less stable packages.

**Recommendations to others considering Ubuntu:**

Don't do it. Enterprise Linux is the bess option

**What problems is Ubuntu solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Server OS platform. No benefits realized, moving back to the Enterprise Linux product offering from the North Carolina technology firm.

  ### 5. Painfully slow

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan G. | Software Developer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2015

**What do you like best about Ubuntu?**

It had a great concept and the ideas sounded good.

**What do you dislike about Ubuntu?**

I cringed when I had to deal with projects that used bazaar. It suffered from a very poor implementation.

**Recommendations to others considering Ubuntu:**

Consider using git. Bazaar, from what I can tell is no longer developed or actively maintained.

**What problems is Ubuntu solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was a lone developer/user. I wasn't working for a business, but when I compiled my own software, the projects that used bazaar always seemed to break often.

The thing I disliked most about bazaar is that it was painful slow at cloning a repository. I appreciated git much more and even mercurial had a huge speed advantage to bazaar. Even relatively small repositories would take the better part of an hour to clone. A similar size repo in git would take only about a minute. It was a headache dealing with bazaar from day one.

The other thing that kept me from recommending it to people was the fact that its community was very small and diminishing by the day. When emacs started to jump ship, I know this software was in trouble.
