Ubiquity hardware does tend to have an excellent lifespan. I've never had to replace Unify hardware due to a fault or failure.
Typically, the hardware will last long into the following lifecycle of innovation in networking. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The software tool used to manage the hardware is atrocious. It must continually be running on a dedicated piece of hardware to manage the WAPs and Switches. This wouldn't be as much of a headache if the software didn't lose connectivity to the networking devices regularly. Add to that the fact that when firmware updates process, the equipment has the propensity to lose its connection to the management engine, and you're left with something difficult to manage when you need to reliably.
