What do you like best about TYPO3?

This is professional software, used by local governments, universities, German premier league football, airlines, broadcasting stations, national tax institution and many more. The community is vibrant, the software is very much focused on compliance with current standards (MVC / , DDD / Domain driven design, security). In fact, Dutch national signin with social security number (SSN) was built with this software (www.digid.nl). It is also very fast because of the extensive caching. What do you dislike about TYPO3?

The learning curve is steep. And because of the continuous adaptation to the newest standards, it's like every 18 months you need to learn a new language. That is, if you stick to the basics, most is downwards compatible, but most extensions need at least a review, and probably a large amount of reprogramming to meet with standards. Recommendations to others considering TYPO3:

If your audience is high-volume, or security demanding, or - once you get it to work - still working like a charm for the next 10 years ... then this is for you. Building a quick and dirty website, with a new design for every page, isn't going to help. Think of extensions (about 2,000) as a building block, for most use cases you can find several extensions that will help you with pretty much all business cases. What problems is TYPO3 solving and how is that benefiting you?

Websites. Webshops. Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Hotel bookings. Training courses. iDEAL payment integration. SME administration. Camper rental services. Author's list of articles for download. Food community membership registration, coupons for members, yearly overview of member's capital deposits with the community.
