## Twist Reviews
  ### 1. Perfect for Thoughtful Teamwork, But Lacks Urgency

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** nikhil k. | Store Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Twist?**

I appreciate Twist for removing the anxiety that comes with the pressure of immediate replies. There are no 'online' green dots or 'typing...' bubbles, which I find refreshing. Twist supports calm, organized, and thoughtful teamwork, away from the distracting pings of instant messaging apps. I also love how initially setting up logical 'Channels' such as #Design-Projects and #Customer-Feedback makes it feel like organizing a messy desk into clean drawers. Moreover, Twist becomes more powerful when connected with other tools, since it naturally integrates with software focused on productivity and automation.

**What do you dislike about Twist?**

Twist is designed for slow, thoughtful communication, which is great—until something catches fire. If there is a server crash or an urgent client crisis, Twist feels too slow. There’s no easy way to 'shout' for attention. Most teams I know who use Twist still end up keeping a WhatsApp group or a Telegram channel on the side for emergencies, which defeats the purpose of having a single 'source of truth.' Knowing that Twist isn't meant for emergencies creates a bit of mental friction. You find yourself constantly thinking, 'Should I post this in Twist, or is this 'urgent' enough for the WhatsApp group?' That split-second decision-making happens dozens of times a day. It takes away from the 'peace of mind' that Twist is supposed to provide because you’re still technically monitoring two channels.

**What problems is Twist solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Twist for calm, organized teamwork, avoiding constant distractions. It eliminates the anxiety linked to immediate responses and makes work environments more peaceful, boosting thoughtful communication.

  ### 2. Ideal Tool for Thoughtful Communication

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhinas S. | Software developer , Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Twist?**

I really like how Twist creates a calm, reliable space for work-related conversations, helping to separate different ideas and projects. I appreciate its focus on creating intentional responses instead of impulsive replies, and how it supports remote and async work by letting me stay involved without being constantly online. The threaded format helps keep discussions meaningful and well-documented, making it feel like a shared knowledge base rather than a chat stream. It allows me to manage my time better without the pressure of instant replies. Twist fits naturally into my workflow as a place for reflection, alignment, and meaningful collaboration. Its support for asynchronous communication and the way conversations are neatly organized into threads feel purposeful, helping me stay organized, mentally clear, and genuinely productive.

**What do you dislike about Twist?**

While I really appreciate Twist’s calm and structured approach, there are a few areas that could be improved. At times, the interface can feel a bit too minimal, which makes certain actions like quickly switching between teams or finding specific settings less intuitive than expected. I’ve also noticed that for fast-moving discussions or urgent matters, Twist can feel slower compared to real-time chat tools, since it’s clearly designed around asynchronous communication. The notification controls could be more flexible as well, especially for highlighting truly high-priority threads without adding noise. Additionally, better integrations and richer formatting options would make conversations more expressive and reduce the need to jump between tools.

**What problems is Twist solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Twist to create a calm, reliable space for meaningful conversations, escaping chaotic team chats. It helps me slow communication, organize thoughts, and stay productive without constant disruptions, making remote collaboration thoughtful and clear.

  ### 3. Calm, Organized Communication with Twist

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrea B.

**Reviewed Date:** December 24, 2025

**What do you like best about Twist?**

I use Twist mainly to keep my work communication calm, clear, and well-organized. Instead of dealing with constant message notifications, Twist lets me follow structured conversation threads where discussions actually make sense and stay on topic. It’s especially helpful for asynchronous work, because I can catch up on decisions, updates, and ideas without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. I like how intentionally Twist is designed to reduce noise and encourage meaningful communication. Unlike other tools that push constant real-time chatting and interruptions, Twist focuses on organized, topic-based threads that keep conversations clear and easy to follow. Twist respects deep work and asynchronous collaboration, allowing me to stay productive without feeling pressured to respond instantly. The topic-based threads keep my thoughts and conversations organized, and the asynchronous setup gives me the freedom to respond when I’m ready. Overall, Twist makes communication feel calmer, clearer, and more respectful of everyone’s time, which is what makes it genuinely valuable to me. Getting started with Twist was simple and didn’t feel overwhelming at all. Setting up the workspace, organizing topics, and inviting my team was quick and intuitive. The setup was smooth, easy, and made it clear that Twist is designed to be simple rather than complicated.

**What do you dislike about Twist?**

Sometimes it feels a bit slow when I need a quick response, and the interface can take time to get used to, especially for team members coming from instant chat tools. I also feel that onboarding could be clearer to help new users understand the value of threads and asynchronous work right away. With smoother navigation and a bit more flexibility in notifications, Twist could be even more comfortable to use without losing its focus-first approach.

**What problems is Twist solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Twist solves the chaos of team messaging by organizing conversations into calm, topic-based threads. It reduces the pressure to reply instantly, allows focus on work, and makes communication feel thoughtful and productive.

  ### 4. Twist: Beautifully Written and Deeply Evocative Prose

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** saba f. | backspace, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Twist?**

Twist is beautifully written and ease of use. The prose draws you into its tangled currents and the emotional weight of connection and distance is felt in every line and good ease of implementation

**What do you dislike about Twist?**

At times, the narration becomes overly introspective and meandering, with threads left dangling and moments that feel more poetic than purposeful.

**What problems is Twist solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Twist helps by reducing constant interruptions: it organizes conversations into threads so important information isn’t buried in noise

  ### 5. Efficient Threaded Communication, but Mobile App Needs Improvement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abdoulaye M. | Lavoratore autonomo, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Twist?**

I appreciate how Twist organizes team communication into threads, which makes it much easier to keep track of conversations without getting overwhelmed by the usual chat clutter.

**What do you dislike about Twist?**

The mobile app occasionally runs a bit slowly, and I find that the notifications are not always as customizable as I would prefer.

**What problems is Twist solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Twist has been instrumental in helping our team maintain organization by structuring conversations into threaded topics instead of a disorganized chat stream. This approach makes it much simpler to follow discussions, minimizes the chances of missing important messages, and ultimately enhances our overall productivity.

  ### 6. Seamless work communication, the first choice for asynchronous collaboration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua J.

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Twist?**

I like Twist's asynchronous communication model, which allows team members to view and respond to messages at their convenience, reducing the pressure of instant communication. This is very suitable for teams with different work rhythms and time zones. Twist's smart notification system effectively reduces work interruptions, helping me focus on important tasks. At the same time, this communication method lacks online status green dots and typing indicators, avoiding the pressure to respond immediately. I also appreciate that Twist organizes conversations through threads, enhancing information processing efficiency. These features make me feel more relaxed and efficient at work.

**What do you dislike about Twist?**

Integration features need to be strengthened: Although Twist supports integration with other applications, compared to some mainstream collaboration tools, the variety of applications it integrates with may be relatively limited, and some users have reported that the actually usable integration features are not many.

**What problems is Twist solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Twist to solve the problem of information clutter. It organizes conversations through threads, making communication content more orderly and improving information retrieval efficiency. It breaks down team communication barriers, reduces interruptions with asynchronous communication, alleviates stress, and enhances team collaboration. For me, it is very suitable for teams in different time zones.

  ### 7. A tool to enhance team communication and task management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Archie M.

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Twist?**

I like that Twist provides a centralized communication space where team members can engage in in-depth discussions around specific topics, rather than having information scattered like in traditional instant messaging tools, making communication more organized. Especially with its focus on asynchronous communication design, it effectively reduces interruptions, allowing us to concentrate more on work while also improving team communication efficiency. Twist's asynchronous communication model flexibly supports different schedules, adapts to different working hours, and ensures smooth coordination for teams working across time zones. Additionally, Twist's task management feature is great, allowing easy creation of tasks and assignment to the appropriate team members, and the initial installation and setup are very easy.

**What do you dislike about Twist?**

Search Functionality Issues: The search functionality performs poorly, making it difficult to quickly and accurately find specific conversations and topics, which hinders users from efficiently retrieving needed content from a large amount of historical information. Keyword Matching Issues: When entering keywords that contain multiple words, the search results are unsatisfactory. For example, searching for an employee's full name does not return accurate results; only parts of the first or last name can be entered to find the person, which is very inconvenient when looking for discussions or documents related to specific individuals. Search Results Display Issues: Although search results highlight keywords, there is no convenient way to locate them. Users need to manually scroll through the page to find them, especially in long documents or extensive discussion records, making it difficult to quickly find the needed content, wasting a lot of time. Search Performance Issues: When handling large amounts of data, the search may take a long time, affecting the user experience. This is particularly true when a team has been using the system for a long time and has accumulated a large number of messages and files, causing the search response speed to slow down, and sometimes even resulting in lag.

**What problems is Twist solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Twist offers a topic-oriented communication method, solving the information chaos problem of traditional communication tools and improving communication efficiency. It also enhances work autonomy and flexibility by adopting an asynchronous communication model, accommodating team members in different time zones and work rhythms.

  ### 8. you NEED to check this one out!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer W. | billing/credentaling coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Twist?**

i have used a few different messaging apps and one things that sets this apart is getting notified without the distractions of others like slack. you can add more context, so you can send specific links, like to a specific message, which i think helps you work better and calmer Is user friendly

**What do you dislike about Twist?**

It does not have as many features as other messaging apps. If you are using the free version you can only search messages back from the last month. the sync to mobile did not work

**What problems is Twist solving and how is that benefiting you?**

makes communicating with other departments or people at other facility's much easier than using the phone

  ### 9. Improving our asynchronous team comunication

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** William G. | Head of Strategy, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Twist?**

The way we can create topics within channels. This allows us to have an organization in project conversations. Each topic has its own objective and can be closed when solved.

**What do you dislike about Twist?**

At the same time is awesome to have topics in channels, I miss the informal conversation that we can have using WhatsApp or even slack. I think some mix of the two possibilities would give us more flexibility.

**What problems is Twist solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Asynchronous and structured conversations. The main benefit is to have a place to go when we want to share data, information and everything about the project (not tasks, but conversation)

  ### 10. Good performance and development tool

  ### 11. Best app for topical chat threads

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yakir R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2020

**What do you like best about Twist?**

Easily able to maintain multiple chat threads with the same people, without getting confused between subjects.

**What do you dislike about Twist?**

Notifications sometimes lag on my Samsung Galaxy 8, but I can easily fix that by utilizing email notifications.

**Recommendations to others considering Twist:**

Use the dark mode. It's nice and easy on the eyes.

**What problems is Twist solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's usually quite hard to maintain clear conversations when you communicate with your colleagues via chat. With Twist, I can keep up with all of the conversations. In some projects, I'll share as many as twenty - thirty separate chat threads with just a single colleague. Twist let's me keep that all organized and easily retrievable.

  ### 12. A different way to communicate your work

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ramiro . | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2020

**What do you like best about Twist?**

The way in which it proposes communication within work teams is different from the others and makes it ideal for remote teams.
Her focus is on reducing distractions and waiting for answers in real time

**What do you dislike about Twist?**

Is an electron app, a little big, ram expensive

**Recommendations to others considering Twist:**

The functionality of not receiving notifications is good, it is preferable that you define specific times to review your new messages
Setting the days and hours of rest is great to disconnect from work
The application for the cell phone helps you take it everywhere

**What problems is Twist solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is an alternative to traditional mail, it has led me to a change of thinking about how to communicate with my coworkers, I no longer expect an immediate response to my messages, for example

  ### 13. Lightweight and intuitive tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Twist?**

Twist is a tool that facilitates communication within the organization. The conversations are structured and there is no way to get lost in the topics. Its interface is intuitive and lightweight, it is an easy to set up.
I would say that chat is the core of Twist. This optimized for sharing files and manage communications successfully. In addition, the connection with a wide range of third-party software, enhances its functionality.

**What do you dislike about Twist?**

I do not find anything disgusting in this app, I like its effectiveness.

**Recommendations to others considering Twist:**

It's a cheaper and lighter alternative than Slack.Twist is a great option for small businesses.

**What problems is Twist solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simplifies team collaboration and significantly improves the ability to respond to complex problems, since communication is fluid and effective. Moreover, it is improving project planning and distribution of tasks.
Everything is easier with Twist.

  ### 14. Very organized, good for instant messaging as well as "email like" threads

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Practice | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2018

**What do you like best about Twist?**

The standard notification settings are very well organized, I get notified for each new message, and even if I don't check the message in that moment, it still gets left "unread". It is very easy to keep track of what has been said in conversations since I last looked at the app. It somehow manages to work well for instant messaging as well as messaging that does not need to be addressed right away. I have not found an app before this one that has been able to do that.

**What do you dislike about Twist?**

Sometimes it's difficult to discern the purpose of having a separate channel vs just starting a new thread. We have channels set for certain topics but it almost seems not necessary when we can just start a new thread with the appropriate people.

**Recommendations to others considering Twist:**

Great app alternative to emailing

**What problems is Twist solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been able to more effectively communicate, with messages getting to the appropriate people in a reasonable amount of time. On other apps that we had used before, a message would be sent, and because of complicated notification settings, it would get lost in the shuffle. And in previous apps, if you wanted to see what you missed, you would have to do a lot of scrolling back.

With Twist, the app keeps track of what you've read and what you haven't, so you don't miss what needs to be read/

  ### 15. Twist is a fantastic platform for teams

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Angel M. | Freelance Writer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2018

**What do you like best about Twist?**

I love how simple and clean the interface is while also being hearty enough to house several different areas for discussion and meetings.

**What do you dislike about Twist?**

Nothing! Twist has met all of my criteria for a good platform so far.

**What problems is Twist solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s a little smoother and nicer to look at than past clients

  ### 16. New wave solution for team communication

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Péter T. | Digital Marketer, Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2018

**What do you like best about Twist?**

The best part of twist is that it has "sub-channels" under each main channel, so the flow of content won't be a big mass. You can have as many topics ("threads") as you want, so your team can have separate channels for every project (even under each client for example). That's a real innovation in team communication.

**What do you dislike about Twist?**

At the moment, integrations. They're working on that so the pool of integrations is growing.

**Recommendations to others considering Twist:**

Try it, it's free. Easy to setup and start to use as it's quite similar to Slack... with a twist. :)

**What problems is Twist solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We work remotely, so communication was a real issue. With Twist, we could manage to have a good frame to plan, chat or discuss anything in an organized way.
