I like getting all the information I need from some of the smart devices I use, including the MAC addresses, IP addresses, or other unique identifiers. It's a bit complicated. While setting devices up in a 3rd party platform, I had to jump through hoops to get the necessary components the first time around. There are 3 or 4 different components needed to connect the devices to a 3rd party platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. I have a couple of smart devices that were acquired for cheap, and it provides access to an interface where you can do a lot of customization and programming and designing your own devices.
