The product Turbonomic is based on AI technology. It is a cloud based system that is helping the employees and their data in real time. It seems very helpful to the employees to reduce their manual work a lot and infrastructure resources get optimized. The customer service of Turbonomic is brilliant. I do not found anything to dislike yet in this product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This system pulls data from the VCenter's its connected with and monitors the health and resources of each VM, the hosts and storage as well as the hardware resources including our converged infrastructure and make and can automatically apply those changes if desired. At this time I am happy with the system in what it monitors. No issues with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Turbonomic has identified areas for saving money on our deployed cloud instances and on prem to save on our IT budget. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's more difficult than it should be to disable the automatic reparation of some functions we want to use if an object or group of items is omitted from review. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love that it finds over provisioned items and right sizes them as well as the other direction, finding servers that need more power and giving it to them. All along making your clusters much more efficient, saving on cost, and improving performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Just want it to exand into doing this for more PaaS environments in Azure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It prevents over and under provisioning of VM's automatically. It also helps in workload placement and storage optimization. In more than one case it located orphaned, and temporary files in our infrastructure that were consuming an excessive amount of space unnecessarily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The scheduler for actions that require reboots could be implemented better. Identifying the proper way to handle non disruptable and selectively disruptable workloads can be a challenge. Also, I think the VM targeting could be improved on . Writing queries to target VM's while very powerful, is not the most intuitive method of targeting resources.
While the product now does support cloud platform management, as of the time I wrote this, it only supports VM infrastructure in the cloud. We do not use this currently as we have chose to stick to service offerings only in the cloud and therefor we cannot yet benefit from the cloud and multi cloud offering. Turbonomic has been a great step in making my life easier. Turbo has not just been a notifier of a problem, but it takes step to help prevent those problems before they have a chance to occur. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Turbonomic has been great for us, so if I had to come up with a dislike, it would be lack of reporting customization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Turbonomic provides insight and recommendations into our Azure cloud configurations designed to allow optimum efficiency and cost. By analyzing the load on demand, the product can sense when more resources are needed as well as when resources are being wasted.
In the first month, we ran this as a POC. It saved us over 5k a month in costs by implementing its recommendations. The product continues to save us money but constantly updating its pricing files from Azure with current promotions and regional costs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
More Azure features are needed. They started with AWS and are now ramping up Azure features.
We would like to see more visibility into reserved instances in Azure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I personally like the fact that once you have your rules defined you really don't have to do any thing else with it, its automation handles the majority of your needs on its own. The fact that it isn't threshold based also adds great flexibility as it guarantees the optimal usage across everything available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
My only detractor is the lack of custom reporting that is available in the current version. They are supposed to be adding that feature back in in a future version. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ability for Turbonomic to constantly monitor both on-prem and off-prem workloads to assure performance and optimize our infrastructure and costs is great. While we are still rolling out the automation, the benefits already gained are great! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are several key data points that we have needed to download or export into a spreadsheet but the UI is very limited in that regard. There are a few widgets that allow for exporting the data to csv or xls but not nearly enough. Also, the reports are pretty basic and not very easy to work with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Turbonomics allow me to focus on more critical issues. Not having to manage my virtual environment frees up a considerable amount of time and resources. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
A little cryptic to use. It took me awhile to understand how to operate it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the fact we can easily use see the difference of old automation and just looking and seeing a mostly if not perfectly balanced cluster between cpu/memory. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The largest dislike I have is that the support bundles are very large. For someone with a slow connection it can take a long time to upload the logs. Not really an issue with Turbo, more an issue with me having stone age internet. :) Turbo has said they are working on fixing things to be maybe ability to target specific support logs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ability to set policies in which CPU and MEM are balanced automatically based upon usage. It creates a hands off approach to administering host level monitoring and we have learned to trust the tool to handle this level of administration for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We thought we would have the ability to do storage level forecasting based upon usage. Put another way, we were hopeful that Turbonomics would be able to analyze our storage usage and the growth of our environment and then make predictive recommendations for when we need to procure more storage. We attempted this feature with the storage module but found that it wasn't quite what we were looking for. Manual forecasting was still required. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The wide range of things this product can do. From reporting on the performance of an environment, to automating the migration of VMs, to planning workload migrations, to planning deployments, the list goes on and on! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
When they upgraded to a new version, they dropped several built-in dashboards. Although you can still login to the old interface and access them, I'd like the dashboards to be available in the new version as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Using the planning tools in Turbonomic, I am able to run multiple hardware replacement scenarios to determine the most cost-effective configuration to grow or reconfigure my VM environment. In addition to the planning capabilities, Turbonomic also continually balances workload in my environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The capabilities are incredible, but the interface is not always intuitive. That said, support is fantastic - when I have a business problem to solve, they will help me use the tools to resolve it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The best feature of Turbonomic is workload automation. Using this we are able to automate rightsizing of production workloads. This works immediately for on-premise workloads and can be scheduled for out of hour for Cloud and disruptive resizes (resize down on-premise for example).
Additionally, the ability to plan workload migrations between on premise locations or to public cloud is extremely useful to ensure the success of migrations and clearly visualise costs associated with that activity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Scheduling of workloads in public cloud requires additional effort over and above that for on premise workloads and could be made simpler. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The visibility into the HyperFlex Storage cluster. It allows you to automate groing and shrinking Datastore size on HX on the fly! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
removing archive vCenter and servers from turbonomics is a bit tricky. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Turbonomic allows us to optimize available resources to effectively use the hardware we have in place. It gives us a good end to end view of our virtual environments which makes troubleshooting easier. We also use it to find problems quicker which reduces the blame game and helps us focus in on the providing excellent service to our clients. We're starting to allow more automation and expect to see further efficiency gains with its adoption across the company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The interface isn't the most intuitive to pickup at first Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that fact that it balances out the virtual environment, with little administration required. Set up your policies as desired, and let Turbonomic do its thing in the background. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's a little complex to learn initially, and the cost is somewhat high. But the feature set and reliability is great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Set it and forget it. Ok we're not cooking a turkey, but this product doesn't require a lot of attention to do its job. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Placement automation using Turbonomic conflicts with StorageDRS even on minimal settings, but I need StorageDRS on to have a datastore cluster object. They don't play completely nicely together. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Turbonomic does exactly what is says it does. No frills, no gimmicks, it just works. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The new user interface. I think it is terrible. I want the old VMturbo user interface back. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Provides efficiency across every cluster based on the supply and demand model at any given time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ease of use and customized reporting (Something that can be easily used with upper management on a monthly basis to show the trend in our environment). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The latest UI is cool especially for a 'cost view' but I personally like the classic view which gives me in depth of information with minimal number of clicks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's bit difficult to create custom reports for a particular area where i have configured multiple sites spread across different countries. Though the support team gave idea but i was wondering i could have done that myself ! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Dashboard is an easy to use window into your environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The user interface gets some getting used to. It looks like a web interface from a few years ago. Looks outdated and the font is small. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the way it can predict the utilization of your environment and tell you when you can expect to have to add resources. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
In an environment that is experiencing a lot of resource contention, the autonomic functions can run much more often than standard DRS and cause many vMotions, causing potential issues in the environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
