It would be really helpful if my employer integrated the paid time off request feature into TriNet and also synced our company paid holidays within TriNet. Ideally, all of these features would be available in TriNet so I wouldn’t have to log into multiple, disconnected portals to manage time off and holiday information. The platform is really easy to use and navigate. It offers lots of HR-rich features that our staff enjoy like benefits, Trinet perks, The employee assistance program through AllOne Health, and the reimbursement intergration. I was able to connect TriNet to Quickbooks for faster and more accurate reporting. The price is very competitive and has provided a high ROI for our business which is important as a Non-profit. The customer service has been excellet. The entire Trinet team is very responsive, professional and helpful with any questions I have. I find it really convenient that everything is in one spot with TriNet. It's easy to look up insurance, pay, and take time off without having to go through a bunch of confusing menus. The user interface is really nice, making it easy to find the things I want. I also like the health insurance selection process during open enrollment because the whole flow is very nice and smooth. It's built into the system, so I don't need to go to some external thing, and it's easy to compare and select insurance. I love TriNet's ease of navigation, which is probably my favorite thing about it. It's really easy for me to jump in at any point, manage my pay, paycheck, get my stubs, and coordinate my time off requests. I understand the need for security logins, but it feels like I'm logging in for the first time every time. Even though I check the option to be remembered, it doesn't seem to work. This process is cumbersome, but I appreciate the security. I also hate how messages are pushed to my inbox and I have to open them individually in order to clear and/delete them. In general- the healthcare plans are shockingly expensive. As someone who has previously used marketplace insurance, it almost made more sense for me to choose a marketplace plan and choose a stipend because the premium is raised by so much. Unfortunately, the stipend is 1/3 of what this insurance is worth. Further- the milestones and goals are clunky for smaller organizations. I wish there were some more customization to support smaller organizations to make things simpler. Finally, using it to review resumes for the hiring process is not intuitive, and cumbersome. We have experienced issues with how Trinet calculates hourly rate for salaried employees. Instead of taking an annualized hourly rate (salary divided by 2080) they calculate by dividing salary by days in the payroll. That calculation only works if you are on a bi-weekly or once a month payroll cycle. We pay semi-monthly, so there are variances in how many days are in each payroll cycle. This impacts the hourly rate and makes it a variable rate as well, which means that PTO hours are valued differently depending on which payroll cycle they land in. I really appreciate TriNet for making it real easy to punch out and do all my professional administration work. I like the punch out feature and clocking in. The user interface is very easy, which I find helpful when clocking in and out, and going to lunch. I also enjoy the calendar feature that shares the paydays, pay periods, and holidays for my company. It helps me know what day is a payday by simply checking the time tab, where it's right there for me. The initial setup was very easy, and I got it on the first try. Plus, TriNet saw the problem of me having to log in on multiple different apps and is a platform where it's all in one, all inclusive, so I don't have to use multiple platforms. I do love having access to my health benefits, 401k, time off requests, and salary information all in one program. It saves me time each instance that I'm trying to access one of these tools. i feel like the benefits side by side comparison is overwhelming and doesn't provide enough support in helping to choose the appropriate health benefits. As the only HR person supporting a fully remote team of about 70, what I value most about TriNet is its integration ecosystem. Benefits Connect is the clear standout: it links directly with our broker partner, so once they enter our plan and enrollment details, deductions and employer contributions automatically flow into payroll for every employee. That leaves me with a clean, reliable process where I can focus on reviewing the numbers instead of manually entering them. That alone has removed a huge amount of reconciliation work each plan year. The Retirement integration has been just as impactful; it saves an enormous amount of manual payroll effort each cycle and has become central to how we manage contributions. TriNet’s integration with Gifted for employee gifting is also a nice touch. It’s a small thing, but it’s exactly the kind of feature that makes a solo HR person’s day easier without adding yet another vendor to manage.

Beyond the integrations, the platform holds up well day to day. The payroll reports have been a real workhorse. I recently pulled several months of exports broken down by employee location to reconcile data for a Workers’ Comp insurance audit, and the interface for building those custom exports is intuitive enough that I didn’t need to involve support just to get the report I needed. Off-cycle pay runs are also handled smoothly without disrupting our regular payroll cadence. When I ran into an issue bulk importing updated medical deduction amounts for our new plan year, our Payroll Manager team stepped in and entered them for us directly. That kind of hands-on support from a dedicated contact makes a real difference for a solo HR function like mine. One unexpected benefit of having payroll, benefits, and location data centralized in one system is how much faster it is to respond when a Workers’ Comp audit reviewer asks for supplemental detail—no more digging through spreadsheets from multiple sources. The biggest recurring frustration is broken help resources. When I search for TriNet support articles or click links from help emails, a significant number lead to dead pages or outdated content — I suspect this stems from the platform's transition from Zenefits to TriNet, where documentation didn't fully migrate or get updated. Switching browsers sometimes resolves it, but that shouldn't be the expected workaround for basic self-service help. For a solo HR person without a large support team behind me, being able to trust that a help article will actually load matters a lot, and right now I can't always count on it.

The other consistent issue is a glitch in the new hire onboarding packet, specifically on the state tax form page. Roughly one in every three new hires gets stuck there and can't proceed. The fix is always the same — switching to incognito mode or a different browser — but it's not something I can expect a brand-new employee to troubleshoot on their own. In practice, this means I'm often writing back to new hires mid-onboarding with workaround instructions, which isn't the first impression I want to give someone in their first few days, and it adds admin work on my end that shouldn't be necessary for something as routine as onboarding.
