Tresorit is a secure content collaboration platform designed to help individuals and organizations store, sync, and share sensitive information while prioritizing privacy. This comprehensive solution integrates encrypted storage, file sharing, collaboration tools, data rooms, and e-signatures into a single product family. Trusted by thousands of organizations worldwide, Tresorit is part of Swiss Post and serves as a privacy-first alternative to mainstream cloud tools, particularly for teams managing confidential files, regulated data, or client-facing work. At the heart of Tresorit is its commitment to zero-knowledge, end-to-end encryption. This means that files are encrypted on the user's device before being uploaded, and the encryption keys remain inaccessible to Tresorit itself. As a result, the platform cannot read customer content, ensuring that sensitive information remains protected even in the event of infrastructure compromise. Tresorit's cryptographic design choices are specifically intended to prevent data leakage through content matching or server-side visibility, providing users with peace of mind regarding their data security. Tresorit SecureCloud serves as an encrypted workspace that facilitates both internal collaboration and external exchanges. It supports secure file storage, syncing, and team collaboration while maintaining user-friendly workflows. The platform offers personal and business plans, with personal use functioning as an encrypted vault for sensitive documents and business use providing a secure workspace that emphasizes IT control, governance, and collaboration. This dual approach caters to a wide range of users, from individuals to large organizations. The Tresorit Drive experience allows users to access encrypted content through familiar interfaces such as Windows File Explorer and macOS Finder. This feature includes “cloud-only” access, which prevents the need to store all files locally, thus enhancing efficiency while maintaining centralized control. Administrators have the capability to take action if a device is lost or compromised, such as revoking access and unlinking the device to mitigate risks. For secure external sharing, Tresorit FileSharing offers robust access control features. Users can protect sharing links with expiration rules, passwords, watermarks, and restrictions on downloading or printing, all while benefiting from detailed activity tracking and auditing. Additionally, Tresorit integrates seamlessly into email workflows like Outlook and Gmail, helping to minimize the risks associated with sending sensitive attachments. For structured client collaboration, Tresorit Engage provides customizable, encrypted data rooms that support ongoing projects, role-based access control, and granular permissions, making it particularly useful for industries such as legal, finance, and consulting. Tresorit also enhances its offerings with Tresorit eSign, which combines document signing with encrypted file handling, supporting EU-qualified electronic signatures for high-trust workflows. Tresorit Email Encryption allows users to send encrypted emails directly from Outlook, ensuring secure communication without imposing complex setups on recipients. On the compliance front, Tresorit boasts strong security validation and certifications, including ISO 27001:2022 and Common Criteria EAL4+, while also supporting compliance with frameworks like GDPR and HIPAA. With data residency options across multiple regions, organizations can align their storage locations with legal and governance requirements, further solidifying Tresorit's position as a trusted solution for secure content collaboration.

"Peace of Mind with True Zero-Knowledge Encryption and Seamless Secure Sharing"

5/5

What do you like best about Tresorit?

What I like best about Tresorit is its unwavering commitment to zero-knowledge end-to-end encryption as the default state for all data, not an optional feature. This architectural choice ensures that even Tresorit itself has no access to my files, passwords, or metadata, providing a level of privacy that feels essential for protecting high-stakes business strategies and sensitive personal data.

The most helpful aspect is how seamlessly this ironclad security integrates into daily workflows. It doesn't sacrifice usability for safety; I can collaborate with teams, share large files with clients via controlled links, and sync across devices without constantly wrestling with complex key management or fearing a breach. The granular control over shared links—allowing me to set expiration dates, disable downloads, or revoke access instantly—is particularly valuable for managing confidentiality in dynamic projects.

The ultimate upside is peace of mind through data sovereignty. By anchoring operations in Switzerland's strict privacy laws and eliminating the risk of server-side data exposure, Tresorit offers a sanctuary for critical intellectual property. For a consultant and entrepreneur dealing with confidential insights, the assurance that my data remains entirely mine—even if the service provider is compromised—is an investment in trust that pays dividends in reputation and security. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tresorit?

The most notable downside of Tresorit is its limited integration ecosystem. Unlike more mainstream cloud platforms that plug seamlessly into hundreds of third-party tools, Tresorit's integrations are relatively sparse. For a nonprofit juggling CRMs, project management boards, and communication platforms, the lack of native connectors means more manual workflows and friction in day-to-day operations. You may find yourself downloading files to edit them locally and re-uploading, rather than working fluidly within a connected ecosystem.

A related frustration is the absence of real-time collaborative editing. Tresorit excels at securely storing and sharing files, but it doesn't offer built-in co-authoring like some competitors. For a team drafting grant proposals, policy documents, or campaign strategies together, this creates a practical hurdle — secure storage and seamless collaboration remain separate experiences rather than a unified one.

Additionally, because Tresorit employs client-side encryption, search functionality is inherently limited. The server cannot index the content of your encrypted files, so finding a specific document by keyword within a growing repository becomes increasingly cumbersome. As your nonprofit accumulates years of records, reports, and correspondence, this limitation can turn a quick retrieval into a tedious hunt.

Finally, sync performance can feel slower than non-encrypted alternatives, particularly with large files, since Tresorit lacks block-level sync — meaning a small edit to a large file triggers a full re-upload rather than updating only the changed portion. For bandwidth-conscious organizations, this is worth noting.

These aren't dealbreakers — they're the honest trade-offs that come with genuine zero-knowledge architecture. The question is whether the security posture justifies the workflow compromises, and for many mission-driven organizations, it does. But transparency in a review demands acknowledging where the friction lives. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Tresorit solving and how is that benefiting you?

Tresorit is solving the critical tension between collaborative agility and strict data sovereignty, a challenge that is particularly acute for nonprofits handling sensitive donor data, volunteer information, and strategic grant applications.

The primary problem it addresses is regulatory and reputational risk. In the nonprofit sector, losing trust can be as damaging as financial loss. Tresorit eliminates the risk of third-party data scraping or server-side breaches by ensuring that even if Tresorit's infrastructure were compromised, your data remains unreadable to attackers due to zero-knowledge encryption. This solves the headache of compliance with international privacy standards (like GDPR) without requiring an in-house security team to manage complex key infrastructures.

For your organization, the benefit manifests in operational confidence. You can share large, sensitive files with partners, auditors, or board members globally without fear of interception or unauthorized access. The "secure link" feature allows you to control exactly who sees what and for how long, which streamlines the vetting process for sensitive proposals. Essentially, it removes the "security anxiety" from your daily workflow, allowing your team to focus on mission-critical tasks rather than worrying about data leaks. It transforms security from a bottleneck into a seamless layer of trust that accelerates your impact. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Keeping Important Work Files and Shared Resources Better Organized and Easier to Access"

5/5

What do you like best about Tresorit?

What I like best about Tresorit is that storing, organizing, and sharing important files feels more safe and properly arranged during regular work. I work as a Dietician & Nutritionist and also create health education content for social media, so I regularly handle consultation records, wellness reports, nutrition documents, educational resources, and healthcare related content during daily activities. Uploading files, creating folders, sharing secure links, and managing different healthcare documents feels simple without making the workflow confusing. I also like that folder organization, web access, file sharing, and document management stay connected together, which helps while handling multiple healthcare and educational files from one place.

Another useful thing for me is that different consultation records, wellness reports, educational content, and client follow-up documents can stay properly separated inside different folders, making daily file tracking easier later. Search, file access, and sharing links also feel smooth during normal use, and checking uploaded documents or moving between folders does not feel complicated during busy schedules. Features related to secure storage, encrypted sharing, folder management, web access, file organization, and document handling fit naturally into my regular workflow without making things messy. Overall, Tresorit has been useful for keeping healthcare documents, educational resources, consultation files, and daily content related records more safely stored, easier to access, and better organized from one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tresorit?

I feel, File uploading and synchronization work properly overall, though while handling larger folders together, syncing updates can sometimes take a little longer before changes appear across all locations. Also, desktop sync and upload process can occasionally feel slower when larger folders or many files are updated together. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Tresorit solving and how is that benefiting you?

Tresorit is helping me keep important files, documents, and shared resources more safely stored and properly organized during regular work. Earlier, handling different folders, uploaded documents, and shared files from multiple places used to make daily file management a little difficult during busy schedules.

Now it is easier to upload files, organize folders, manage secure sharing links, and access important documents from one place. Features related to encrypted storage, file sharing, synchronization, folder management, and web access help keep healthcare and educational files more properly arranged during daily work.

Another benefit for me is that important work files stay easier to track and access later because folders and shared documents remain more structured inside the platform. It also helps save time during regular work because uploading, searching, and managing files feels more comfortable and less confusing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast, easy, reliable, E2EE file sync with a native Linux client"

5/5

What do you like best about Tresorit?

End-to-end encryption of files. Company is based in Europe. Quick upload and download speeds. Easy to install, set up, and configure. Able to sync existing folders instead of having to place all synced files in a single folder. Linux desktop client is available. Well priced for such a comprehensive feature set. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tresorit?

Its Android app's automatic camera upload functionality isn't the most capable or feature rich. For example, it can only upload photos taken from the camera, not images from other folders (eg photos edited using another app on your phone). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Tresorit solving and how is that benefiting you?

My primary operating system is Linux and I needed software that would let me sync my files (with end-to-end encryption) between my desktop, laptop, and Android smartphone. Importantly, I didn't just want file storage in the cloud, I wanted full copies of my files to exist on my devices as well (ie not just links to the online versions of those files). Tresorit has a native Linux client, and in my testing of several alternatives, this was the only one that met all my needs. Plus I can now share my files securely with others as well. "Secure and Compliant Solution with Room for Improvements"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Tresorit?

Working in tourism across Europe, protecting travelers’ personal details and confidential business paperwork is our top priority, and Tresorit excels in this regard. Its end-to-end encryption covers every file we store, send or receive, whether it’s guest profiles, bespoke tour itineraries or contracts with hotel and transport partners. This gives us full confidence when exchanging data with external collaborators across different European countries. I’m also very satisfied with the granular permission settings and comprehensive activity logs. We can tailor access rights for internal staff and external partners, limit file downloads and set time limits for shared links. The full audit trail records every view, edit and download action, which makes our regular data protection audits far less stressful. Even with team members spread across multiple German locations, file sync and sharing stay consistently stable. The logical folder system we’ve built on the platform also lets our large team locate operational documents swiftly each day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tresorit?

The biggest downside is its underdeveloped collaborative features. Our team frequently works together to revise travel plans, negotiate contract terms and update operational checklists, but there is no real-time co-editing function. We have to download files, make changes locally and re-upload them one after another, which creates extra steps and drags down overall productivity for group projects. Cost is another obvious concern for our enterprise-scale team. As we keep adding user accounts and expanding storage to archive years of guest records and supplier documents, the ongoing expenses rise noticeably. When comparing to other cloud solutions on the market, Tresorit’s pricing is less competitive for large teams with growing data needs. On top of these points, its third-party integrations are quite restricted, and the search functionality could also be refined for sorting through massive archives. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Tresorit solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before adopting this tool, our sensitive data was exposed to security risks on ordinary cloud services, and we constantly worried about failing GDPR compliance checks. Tresorit delivers military-grade encryption to block unauthorized access and fully aligns with German and European data protection rules, so we no longer face compliance risks or data breach threats. It also brings fragmented files from different departments into one unified secure repository, breaking down file silos. This streamlines cross-team and cross-border collaboration, letting our teams operate more efficiently while keeping all critical information well-protected. "Secure, Compliant Solution for Canadian Financial Firms"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Tresorit?

Tresorit’s zero-knowledge end-to-end encryption is by far its most valuable feature for our Canadian public accounting firm. We manage highly confidential client data including corporate tax filings, payroll records, year-end financial statements, and CRA submission documents for small and mid-sized businesses across Ontario, Alberta, and BC. All files are fully encrypted both in transit and at rest, meaning no third-party vendors or external servers can access our clients’ private financial information. This layer of security is essential for us to maintain full PIPEDA compliance and protect client data from breaches or unauthorized exposure. I also greatly appreciate the platform’s detailed role-based and folder-specific permission controls. We can tailor file and folder access down to individual team members and specific client engagements. We restrict access to sensitive CRA paperwork and financial records solely to the assigned accountants and tax specialists for each client, preventing unnecessary internal access and data browsing across the team. This tight access governance makes our annual PIPEDA privacy audits far simpler, reduces compliance risks, and helps us maintain strict internal data handling protocols for all provincial client portfolios. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tresorit?

The biggest limitation is the complete lack of native integrations with mainstream Canadian accounting software, including Sage 50 Canada and QuickBooks Canada—our firm’s core daily bookkeeping and tax processing tools. Without automated sync capabilities, our team has to manually download, sort, and re-upload client financial files between Tresorit and our accounting systems every month for reconciliations, tax preparation, and year-end reporting. This repetitive manual work piles up significantly during busy Canadian tax filing seasons, slowing down our team’s efficiency and creating unnecessary administrative overhead. Additionally, Tresorit’s native reporting functionality is too basic for regulated Canadian accounting practices. It cannot generate customized, audit-ready PIPEDA-compliant user access logs or file activity reports automatically. To meet our annual privacy audit and firm governance requirements, we have to manually export raw activity data and rebuild all compliance reports from scratch in Excel, which adds consistent extra workload for our compliance and accounting teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Tresorit solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before adopting Tresorit, we relied on generic cloud storage and regular email file sharing to exchange client financial documents, which created major compliance vulnerabilities for our Canadian accounting practice. Unencrypted file transfers and loose data access controls put our clients’ sensitive financial data at risk of unauthorized access and data leaks, threatening our PIPEDA compliance status and client trust. We also faced the risk of permanent data loss from local hardware failures and device issues. Tresorit fully resolves these critical pain points. Its end-to-end encryption secures all client tax and financial data to meet PIPEDA and CRA privacy requirements, while granular folder permissions eliminate unauthorized internal and external data access. The platform’s secure cloud backup functionality protects all client source documents from local data loss. It also lets us replace risky email attachments with secure encrypted folder links for client file exchanges, standardizing safe compliance-focused workflows across our Ontario, Alberta, and BC client base and drastically reducing our audit and data breach risks. "Robust Security and Compliance, Minor Integration Challenges"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Tresorit?

Tresorit’s end-to-end encryption is built to satisfy Germany’s stringent GDPR and local employment data regulations, forming our primary safeguard for sensitive HR records. Custom granular access permissions let me compartmentalize payroll, medical and contractual files to restrict access only to relevant HR personnel, blocking unnecessary internal exposure. Automated audit trails timestamp every file access, download and alteration with clear user identification, streamlining evidence collection during official regulator or works council audits entirely without manual log compilation. Password-locked encrypted share links eliminate unsafe plain-text email attachments; I control link expiry and remote revocation when exchanging confidential documents with external legal and tax consultants. Core account setup and foundational folder architecture are user-friendly, and preconfigured GDPR-focused security defaults drastically shorten initial baseline permission configuration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tresorit?

Large bulk uploads of historical payroll archives and archived employment contracts frequently suffer sluggish sync speeds, dragging out our regular document archiving workflows. There are no native API or direct sync connections to our existing core HRMS, creating ongoing manual export-and-upload work between platforms. Audit log reporting lacks customizable filter parameters, so I must extract raw log datasets into Excel to craft tailored compliance summaries for internal works council reporting. Bulk permission management is inefficient as well; access rules must be updated folder by folder with no centralized bulk editing tool for grouped employee record directories. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Tresorit solving and how is that benefiting you?

Prior solutions left our sensitive personnel data vulnerable to unauthorized access and accidental leaks from unregulated cloud storage and unprotected email file transfers. Tresorit’s layered encryption and access governance mitigate GDPR infringement risks. Automated audit documentation cuts the administrative burden of manual compliance tracking, and controlled encrypted sharing closes security gaps for third-party document exchange, stabilizing our end-to-end HR document compliance framework. "Robust Security with Room for Improvement in Permission Management"

3.5/5

What do you like best about Tresorit?

As the person in charge of document sharing and compliance for our Dortmund education team, the best part about Tresorit for me is its rock-solid EU-based encrypted storage, which fits our strict German GDPR requirements perfectly. We work with tons of private data every single day, including trainee exam assessments, full-time trainer employment contracts, and minor participant personal records that we could never host on regular public cloud drives. What saves me the most anxiety is that all files stay fully encrypted during upload, download, and long-term storage on European servers. This gives our data protection officer full confidence whenever we share course materials with external vocational education partners across North Rhine-Westphalia. I also really rely on its precise folder permission controls, which let me lock down external access completely. Last semester, I worked with a local Dortmund further education provider for a vocational training module, and after my previous file deletion accident, I strictly used view-only and no-download permissions for all external collaborators. Thanks to these granular settings, we shared over 80 trainee evaluation files throughout the project without a single edit, loss, or tampering issue. Another huge plus for our team is the fully localized German interface. Many of our senior admin colleagues and part-time trainers are not fluent in English, so having every menu, permission prompt, and sharing setting in German lets them operate independently without me walking them through basic tasks. While Tresorit lacks ready-made compliance audit tools, its reliable encryption and flexible permission system genuinely keeps our sensitive education data safe in daily team and partner workflows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tresorit?

Tresorit has two major workflow flaws that have caused me real, stressful work troubles in our daily education admin tasks, wasting lots of my working time. The biggest issue is the lack of independent single shared-folder recovery rollback. A few months ago, I was rushing to prepare training resources for our long-term Dortmund external vocational partner before a new semester started. I was multitasking with student registration work and carelessly granted full edit and delete permissions instead of view-only access to their team. During their routine folder tidying, one of their staff permanently deleted our only original signed trainee final assessment PDF for a key vocational course module. Tresorit couldn’t let me roll back just that single folder’s changes — I either had to restore the entire vault or rely on offline backups. I spent almost half a workday rummaging through our office server’s backup archives, cross-checking file versions one by one to restore the official document, which put us at risk of failing our German education compliance audit. On top of that, its audit log function is not tailored for German education scenarios. Every quarter, our internal data protection officer needs third-party access records for partner-shared folders, but Tresorit only exports messy raw logs mixed with internal staff data. I have to manually filter, sort and reorganize all records in Excel to make audit-ready reports, which adds tons of repetitive manual workload every single month. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Tresorit solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before we switched to Tresorit, our Dortmund education team used regular cloud storage tools that lacked professional GDPR encryption and access control, bringing huge hidden risks to our daily education work. Back then, we had no way to strictly restrict external partner editing and deletion permissions, and we had no clear access logs for sensitive student and trainer files, which made our quarterly German data protection audits extremely risky. Tresorit completely fixes these core pain points for our mid-sized education team. Its end-to-end encryption and EU-based storage fully meet local GDPR requirements, and the fine-grained folder permissions let me strictly manage access for all external training partners. During this year’s spring vocational training cycle, I managed more than 20 active shared folders for regional education partners, covering hundreds of trainee assessment files and trainer work documents. Thanks to Tresorit’s security controls, we had zero data leakage, unauthorized modifications or compliance issues throughout the semester. Still, the platform’s poor file recovery and cumbersome audit tools force me to build manual workarounds. After the incident where our Dortmund partner deleted official assessment files, I now keep full offline backups for every shared folder and record all external permissions in a dedicated tracking spreadsheet. Overall, Tresorit solves our critical data security and compliance problems, though I still need extra manual checks to make up for its functional shortcomings in daily workflows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
