It not only had signature based detection but behavioral analysis and machine learning. This enabled our agency to ensure that we adequately cleaned up our systems after a ransonware attack and be 100% certain that we have closed the bad actors out of our systems. The tool was fairly easy to install on multiple nodes of a domain and we were able to run a script to verify that it was talking back to the main hub. **What do you dislike about Trellix Network Detection and Response (NDR)?** The biggest downside was that it would peg the CPU at 100% utilization at times and we would have to tweak the configuration a bit and run scripts to resolve the issue. **What problems is Trellix Network Detection and Response (NDR) solving and how is that benefiting you?** FireEye replaced Symantec that we had used prior that relied heavily on signature based detection. Our symantec was not robust enough to help us clean up our system and the ransomware actually removed it from our machines to infect them. However, the product is buggy which breaks my heart. McAfee's Network Security Platform gave us great insights into the intrusions occurring in our network. I can see attack traffic instantly and it is very nice for visually. Because sometime it show threats on some file but that file is not a threat. It shows threats because that file has some programming code that he found the threats but actually, it is not a threat. Lets face it, we wear like a kazillion different hats and the Firewall guys are never quick to want to stop a threat at the perimeter so in comes FireEye NX. They have an always growing library of integrations or modules that can be added to help in creating a complete, well rounded security solution and is a show stopper when it comes to eliminating today's most common network threats like ransomware or data extrusion. **What do you dislike about Trellix Network Detection and Response (NDR)?** I would like if there was a File analysis or upload feature built into the NX appliance. I know they have another product that handles that level of threat analysis more in depth but it would be extremely helpful to have within the same dashboard as the list of threats being performed against your domain or network **What problems is Trellix Network Detection and Response (NDR) solving and how is that benefiting you?** As "relaxed" as a K-12 educational environment can sometimes become, the FireEye NX appliance has lived up to its selling point in eliminating based threats or attacks from being carried out on a device that is connected to our network. It has also provided some visibility into the large, previously unseen, number of threats or files that generate connection attempts on our users' personal devices. The IDPS portion of the appliance is so invaluable to me. It gets checked daily and definitely does its job in stopping and reporting on a number of growing web based attacks or threats and has also helped mitigate a growing number of web based attacks being performed on what would otherwise be a legitimate port in the absence of a WAF to some degree by preventing the execution of an ever growing number of web sourced attacks or malicious connection attempts being seen on the web today. ### 37. I really liked how you could customize the alerting function with specific criteria and variables so that you have only the information that you want and need. The quarantine function also worked extremely well when you needed to respond to an incident quickly. **What do you dislike about Trellix Network Detection and Response (NDR)?** There were some quirks with tuning and the false-positive rate was higher than I would have preferred to see. Many attacks came back as "inconclusive" which made it difficult to quickly determine the status of the event. There were also times where we would received a new signature update that would stall legitimate traffic, so I would recommend having one that is not inline for testing that is a signature set ahead of production. **Recommendations to others considering Trellix Network Detection and Response (NDR):** Good solid product with a lot of good features. They made a lot of progress moving away from a Java platform to HTML 5 so the interface has less errors, vulnerabilities, and updates. The ability to react with NSP is pretty solid, but the detection and results need some work.
