## About Transifex
XTM Transifex offers AI-powered, continuous localization designed for translating your software, website, apps, and other digital touchpoints. It serves as a comprehensive solution for product, engineering, marketing, and localization teams, enabling the translation and updating of software interfaces, websites, and digital content in real-time as changes occur. By integrating localization into the development and content creation processes, Transifex eliminates the traditional batch-based approach, allowing for a more streamlined and efficient workflow. The platform is particularly beneficial for organizations that manage frequently changing software and web content, such as application user interfaces, marketing websites, customer-facing portals, and online documentation. Traditional localization methods often involve manual file exports and delayed translation cycles, which can lead to discrepancies between translated content and the source updates. XTM Transifex addresses these challenges by automating content synchronization, enabling near real-time delivery of translations, and ensuring that localization keeps pace with ongoing development. For software localization, XTM Transifex integrates seamlessly with code repositories and development workflows. This integration allows new or updated strings to be automatically sent for translation and returned without manual intervention, supporting agile and continuous release cycles. This capability significantly reduces the operational burden on engineering teams, allowing them to focus on development rather than localisation logistics. In the realm of website and marketing localisation, Transifex connects with various content management systems and web frameworks, simplifying the translation of web pages, navigation, metadata, and customer-facing copy. This functionality is particularly advantageous for marketing teams that require rapid multilingual updates to maintain consistency across different markets. The platform’s ability to facilitate quick publishing of translated content ensures that organisations can effectively engage with diverse audiences without delay. XTM Transifex also offers robust collaboration features that enhance the localisation process. These include translation memory, terminology management, and review workflows, which support translators, reviewers, and localisation managers in maintaining linguistic consistency and quality across both technical and marketing content. By providing these tools, XTM Transifex enables teams to operate efficiently while ensuring high standards in their translations. As part of the broader XTM localization platform, Transifex allows organizations to combine continuous localization with translation management and visual context tools when necessary. This integration further enhances its value proposition, making it an ideal choice for product teams, engineering teams, marketing teams, and localization professionals seeking scalable localization solutions in high-change environments.

We noticed your comment about accuracy and love to understand more about your experience.

Could you clarify what specific aspects of the tool you're referring to when mentioning it's not 100% accurate? For example, is this related to translation quality, functionality, or something else? Transifex is most helpful for projects that have already been reviewed by SME's and just need to be updated for translation. It also has a large number of features and is easy to use.

**Reviewed by:** Ankit A. | SRE, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

East of use and implementation made it a smooth adaptation into product

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

  ### 8. Good tool for content creators, not so much for end users

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Translation and Localization | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2024

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

The tool boasts remarkable ease of use, catering to both content uploading and translation tasks effortlessly. Whether you're uploading content or providing a translation, navigating the tool proves to be straightforward. Moreover, assigning files to different translators is a breeze, requiring nothing more than a simple link transmission. Translators using the platform are not burdened with the need for individual licenses; instead, access is typically granted by the content owner. All translators need is an Internet connection, underscoring the tool's accessibility and convenience for collaborative endeavors. Downloading files for integration with other CAT tools is quite simple. Content creators also have the flexibility to update the content while translations are underway, streamlining the workflow and ensuring timely adjustments. Easy to implement. Can be used anytime. Customer Support seems to be pretty responsive and helpful, but I never had to use it.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

Generating word count analyses that accurately account for fuzzy matches poses a significant challenge, so translation can only be charged based on total wordcount, even though you can use a TM in Transifex. Additionally, concordance becomes somewhat problematic as translators can only access one segment at a time, hindering their ability to grasp the full context. Moreover, performing global search and replace operations proves to be arduous due to the above.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Transifex primarily addresses the challenge of translation management by providing a platform that streamlines the process of translating content into multiple languages. It offers tools for project managers to organize and track translation projects efficiently. However, while Transifex simplifies translation management for project managers and content owners, it may not be as advantageous for translators themselves. The platform's interface can be less user-friendly for translators, hindering their productivity . Transifex would benefit from a client version to handle the translation process effectively. Despite this limitation, Transifex still offers value by centralizing translation resources and facilitating collaboration among team members, ultimately improving the efficiency of the translation workflow.

  ### 9. Transifex looks like it can do a lot, but can be difficult to use without explanation.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohammed R. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

The ML componet is really helpful, I also like that it supports so many different languages and that I can have glossaries.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

Figma is an add on, a lot of jargon I don't understand.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our platform is live all across the world and uses dozens of languages. T helps us organize all our resources.

**Official Response from Nina Eleftheriadou:**

> Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us :)

Regarding your concerns, we understand the importance of providing clear explanations and guidance for our users. We're continuously working to improve our user experience and make our platform more intuitive and accessible for all users. ### 10. Good

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

Using it. It is a very easy to use plataform.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

That the AI when translating to portuguese uses portuguese from Brazil and not portuguese from Portugal. Hated that to be honest.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Translation

  ### 11. Simple UX, simple menu, easy GH integration

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

I found quite easy to get used to Transifex 4 years ago coming from other translations software like SDL Trados.
I found easy to invite memembers and handle groups. Also very easy documentation to get started with community translations projects. Github integration is what I use the most and made my job very easy.
Also integration with DeepL is great resource.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

I don't like the limitation both on the members and on the number of words.
Having both seem a little abuse compared to other softwares I am using for Translations where I do not have ANY of these limitations.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps with the speed and time to put content back online again

**Official Response from Nina Eleftheriadou:**

> Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us!

  ### 12. Easy to manage and review translation on many target languages at the same time.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marcos d. | Senior Product Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

With this tool, it is easy to get an overview of all translations for a specific string. It is also useful for managing and reviewing translations made by the team or others.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

Missing seach on other languagues when doing a String search to e.g. a catch the corresponding String wrong translation by searching at the target languague.

Usually need to get the main language String first and then check for the tralastion we would update.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Transifex covers the need to provide our products' user interfaces in the languages used by our clients in North America and Europe. This requires identifying the languages needed with our translation team, implementing the translations with our developers, and thoroughly testing them for accuracy and appropriateness.

**Official Response from Nina Eleftheriadou:**

> Thank you, Marcos, for your review and for taking the time to share your valuable feedback with us!

I understand that you are looking for a more user-friendly approach to locate translations while using the Search Strings feature (https://help.transifex.com/en/articles/6240799-search-strings). We understand that convenience is important to you. Our Search Strings page offers a variety of filters. You have the flexibility to select and use different filters based on your specific search criteria, customize your search and focus on the specific translations you are looking for.

Your feedback is highly appreciated, and we would love to hear more from you on how we can improve your overall experience. Please feel free to reach out to our team so that we can better understand your use case and work towards making our platform even better for you and all our users.

  ### 13. Good bones, but needs better UI/UX

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2023

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

I've learned how to find the things that I need to do on an ongoing basis. They have great capabilities for translation and the organization of data allows for relatively easy mapping to our front end repositories.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

It's very hard to navigate once you've entered you. Although we have identical strings, they're often double counted against our limits. We can only invite a limited number of users to the account.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps us interface with contracted parties that we hire to translate our platform. Also provides an interface for us to upload our in-house translations (for legal purposes).

**Official Response from Nina Eleftheriadou:**

> Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.

We appreciate your positive comments about our translation capabilities and data organisation within Transifex.

Regarding the challenges you've encountered with navigation and string counting, I have some exciting updates to share with you :)

Firstly, we're actively developing a fresh UI design for the entire application to improve navigation and overall user experience significantly. These enhancements will be rolling out in the coming months.

Additionally, I'm pleased to inform you that identical strings no longer count towards your word count capacity with our new plans. You can find more details about this here: https://help.transifex.com/en/articles/8698788-faq-transifex-s-new-plans.

Your valuable insights play a crucial role in guiding our efforts, ensuring that Transifex evolves in a direction that aligns with our customers' needs and expectations.

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2023

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

It's very helpful to organize and assign translations needs

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

The platform feels a tad old school and therefore not too user friendly.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organizing the tasks

**Official Response from Nina Eleftheriadou:**

> Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We truly appreciate your insights.

  ### 15. Seamless Language Translation Made Easy

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

What users like best about Transifex is its user-friendly interface and intuitive design. Navigating through the platform is seamless and straightforward, making it easy for both experienced translators and newcomers to get started quickly.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

Although Transifex offers integration with several platforms, some users have expressed a desire for even more extensive integrations with other popular tools and content management systems.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Transifex offers extensive language support, covering over 100 languages. This allows users to reach a broader audience and effectively localize their content for different regions and markets.

  ### 16. Complex to navigate

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

It makes our plans to internationally expand much easier. Without a tool like transifex, this would be much more of a challenge.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

I think the barrier for entry is quite high. What I mean by that is it takes quite a lot of effort from the outset to get it working in the way we want.
Have also found the customer support to be quite poor.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is allowing us to manage our translations from a centralized positon. We operate very similar products in over 160 countries so this consistency is essential.

  ### 17. Transifex is an easy to use translations platform

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

The platform is easy to use and requires almost no learning to make good use of it

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

There is nothing really that stands out. Maybe the fact that it is not evident which are the premium features at a first glance.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Transifex takes care of the globalisation of our web application. It enables us to reach more people with our software product and do it relatively care free as Transifex does it via an automated process.

  ### 18. Cool UI, but...

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

Transifex allows my company to have translation strings handy!

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

Deleting msgid does not raise any error and this event is not catched by anything. I would love to have a transaction-like upload, where data upload, msgids verification and storing can be done.
For example, if i'm deleting some msgids, i'd like transifex to warn me about it. Then I may proceed or cancel.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having a UI for translations; Sharing translations among colleagues.

  ### 19. Translation for emails and websites

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

The ability to have a repository where existing translations are automatically applied for new copy when applicable.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

The tool frequently breaks and can't handle large chunks of copy.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Translating website copy, email copy, push notifications, in-app messages, and in-app copy for our non-English speaking customers. It provides a more personalized experience.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Momoko F. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

We don't need to wait someone's approval to get translation reflected to the product

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

When translating, I have no idea where that translation will be used in the product. In that sense, experience with Smartling was so much better.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Changing the translation which is incorrect, Proofread and edit

  ### 21. Should have options to include or exclude muti languages under same project account.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2023

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

As a reviewer, it's easy to review translations, look for translation keys, comment and add context. Also, the automated Deepl translation and the Glossary help us accelerate the translation process of our product.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

It's not really a user-friendly interface.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed to automate the translation of our product in many languages and Transifex has helped us achieve that.

  ### 24. Good tool that needs to be improved a big time

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

Transifex is a good tool to localize your product showing the percentages translated.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

However, I have difficulties with the source language. To edit any text in the source language, the core files should be updated, which means changes on Transifex are not reflected on the product.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Localization to multiple languages

**Official Response from Nina Eleftheriadou:**

> Thank you for taking the time to write a review and share your experience with us.

If I understand your case correctly, you would like to have a way to apply changes in the source language inside Transifex and then have these changes available on your application immediately without the need for deployment.

If that's indeed the case, then I was wondering if our Transifex Native solution would be an option for you since it offers exactly that.

For a quick demo, you can check our webinar here (https://youtu.be/C0TVeObPT1g?t=621).

If I have misunderstood your case though, then please do not hesitate to contact our support team and we will be more than happy to assist you further on this :)

  ### 25. Average among translation management platforms

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2021

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

Transifex is overall mediocre. It offers all the basic things you need for a translation management platform for an enterprise, but without any killer features. It has a CLI and API and user interface. All are capable enough.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

It's really slow to use. Way too much clicking is involved to do basic translation tasks and move between files and projects. If you have to upload or download something manually it takes forever. Transifex's roadmap just doesn't align with an LSPs. They focus on things they think are important and it may not necessarily be what you think is important. It took forever, for example, for them to add a way to search for texts between projects and it still doesn't really work well. Their engineering team is just disappointing, many promises but too slow to deliver. I also hate their help chatbot.

**Recommendations to others considering Transifex:**

There are a lot of platforms. Check out Crowdin and Localise at least before you settle on this.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing a large translation project for a company with many different platforms and files. It's easy for the teams to keep their own part updated and let translators work.

**Official Response from Nina Eleftheriadou:**

  ### 26. It's nice but at some point it can be too expensive.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

User-friendly interface, easy integration.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

At some point it became too expensive for us we spend like several thousand for service.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need one independent service for supporting translations that can be contributed by several persons at once. Transifex seem to have easy to understand UI.

  ### 27. Useful collab platform, UI needs deep improvement

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

The collaboration and integration aspect can be really extensive, all of that is great. If you have an extensive community, you can extend translation to them and work a lot faster than you could ever do internally or with external teams.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

The UI, finding where you are, context for translation, finding how much translators are working as an admin, everything is more complicated than it should, it feels like a platform from 15 years ago that barely evolved

**Recommendations to others considering Transifex:**

Great tool, hard to admin.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Translations in dozens of languages.

Main benefits is having the software in more languages for our users, allowing more people to access it in their own language.

**Official Response from Nina Eleftheriadou:**

> Thank you so much for your feedback!

Feel free to share any additional comments and suggestions by contacting our support team at support@transifex.com, as it would be great to learn more about the UI challenges you are facing and improve your experience with our product.

  ### 28. Great service, not so great API

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

The service, the speed and the customizability

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

The API does not fulfill my needs (no Oauth2, confusing structure)

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Translate my services, with a simple enough UI

  ### 29. TM improvement opportunity

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

Integrations. The workflow with Github and our connectors is rather smooth.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

I am not a big fan of the TM (and we rely a lot on it!). Reviewed TM entries are not saved, while translations that were later reviewed are and with a high percentage.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Again, the opportunity to localize content in github is rather good.

**Official Response from Nina Eleftheriadou:**

> Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us your review.
We’re very sorry to hear that your experience with Transifex Translation Memory was unsatisfactory.

Would it be possible to reach out to our support team at support@transifex.com and share more about your experience to understand better what we can improve on our end?

Is the feature described here: https://docs.transifex.com/translation-memory/tm-introduction#section-allow-only-reviewed-translations-into-the-tm the one you are referring to?

We appreciate your feedback since this is the best way to improve Transifex.

**Reviewed by:** Toni D. | Event technology coordinator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2021

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

How easy it was to translate a particular phrase throughout the website.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

That some of the text was not able to be translated, however, this might be a Bizzabo issue.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having events for out French audience.

**Official Response from Nina Eleftheriadou:**

> Hi Toni,

Thank you very much for your review!

  ### 31. Solid product, but some of the user experience isn't super clear

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

- My company's implementation makes it really easy to automatically add translated strings to our codebase
- Easy to discuss questions around individual strings

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

- Adding context to a specific string isn't super easy
- Adding context via images is a great idea, but searching for a string after making a selection on the image seems inconsistent.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Transifex allows us to make our product available for more languages

**Official Response from Nina Eleftheriadou:**

> Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review and share your valuable feedback with us.

In our documentation here [https://docs.transifex.com/localization-tips-workflows/the-complete-guide-to-adding-context-to-strings], there is a brief summary of possible ways to provide context to your translators within the app.

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2021

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

Translations arrive on time, mostly do the job.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

Sometimes I have the feeling that the context hasn't been though much.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are now a global organization thanks to the seamless translations.

  ### 34. Transifex - Review 20210115

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

No need to work with excel files and columns to do translations.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

- if I find a spelling mistake in the source language, I cannot just fix it. if it later fixed, even though my 'translation was correct', it is removed and I have to do it again
- when i see history translations and I see some previous translation/or other translation I cannot easily find where those are to fix them, and then remove something that my be wrong permanently from showing up as history
- as new languages are added (even if it is only for small projects) those languages show up on top of the list, should be the most used languages show up on top (aka the ones with the most strings
- in general there are a lot of clicks to get to where one needs/wants to be....aka if in the overall projects it says, 5 strings to translate, would be nice to just click that and immediately end up on those strings

**Recommendations to others considering Transifex:**

Look around, there may be something better

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am not sure it is solving problems. It is a tool my company decided to use to facilitate translations.

**Official Response from Nina Eleftheriadou:**

> We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your valuable feedback with us since this is the best way to improve Transifex :)

Please allow me to provide some additional information in case this helps.

- Spelling mistake in the source language
Transifex supports edit source text through Transifex web editor as it is described in our documentation guide here: https://docs.transifex.com/projects/edit-source-strings. While editing the source text for strings where translations already exist, you have the option to keep these translations without the need to translate everything from scratch once the changes are applied (more information about this specific option can be found here: https://docs.transifex.com/projects/edit-source-strings#how-to-modify-a-source-string). The edit source strings feature is an option for files that follow key-value structure, at least for the time being.

- Fixing previously submitted translations
Search for strings page allows you to to easier find translations across projects. More information can be found here: https://docs.transifex.com/projects/search-strings. Not sure if you are using this feature already but I would love to hear your feedback on this.

- List languages on top based on the number of strings & Many clicks to get where you need
Thank you for your suggestions. I will definitely share them with the rest of the team and see how we can improve the experience for all of our customers.

  ### 35. We use it to ensure accurate translations appear on our site.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2021

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

I like how we can tag certain strings to translate, and also add tags to certain strings that we don't need translated.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

This statement suggests that the subject in question is complex or unfamiliar, necessitating training to comprehend its usage.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Accurate translations on our site.

**Official Response from Nina Eleftheriadou:**

> Thank you very much for your review!

If you find this helpful, here [https://docs.transifex.com/], you can check our documentation guide with information about features and suggested workflows.

We are here to help, so for any questions, feel free to reach out to us at support@transifex.com, and we will be more than happy to assist you.

  ### 36. Best translation tool!

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

It is very easy to use. Simplify the coordination between developers and traductors.
Being able to flag keys on a context visualisation helps the process

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

There a ramp up on how to properly organize your keys

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Coordination and context bounding when coding on feature branches

  ### 37. Overall it works and it allows for a good translation process, but lacking in many ways

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan L. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2018

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

- Allows for a git-centric process of translations;
- API is far from great but it's complete enough to do most things you'll need;
- Can't say support is unresponsive, they do reply in a good time;

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

- Price model is really strange. Who charges per word in a cloud-based world? This is almost free considering Amazon storage prices.
- UI is not great:
   - Hard to understand the current state of things (shows the current state, but not how much % it moved today for instance), many UI flows are confusing (eg. you are in a resource, click translate and have to choose a resource again...);
   - Search takes some time (although all data is already in the UI – so it does unnecessary backend searches), the field for searching is not great UX wise;
- API is clearly a 2nd thought:
  - Many things are not there (update context for all keys for instance);
  - Endpoints exist with different functionality in different versions at the same time (that's really weird);
  - Lacks consistency a lot. E.g. some endpoints return JSON or HTML depending on the status (that's also really really weird).
  - We experienced some strange caching issues with the CLI tools;
- Many important missing features IMO. E.g. Can't create a resource from another one from the UI (you have to manually download and then upload);
- Many support requests are replied in a confusing way (maybe EN is a language barrier for them) and when we asked about a feature they don't support they simply say "this can't be done" instead of assessing how important it is and telling you decisively they don't plan to do it (and the reasons) or if they plan to do it along with an ETA/timeframe;
- Some features seem really useless to me. For instance why would I upload images and send positions in the image to associate with keys? I highly doubt anyone uses this (at least through the API) since it's too hard of a problem. I would prefer to have some live-editing capabilities couples with the git/resources flow.
- They say they do, but they don't really suppport the ICU format correctly (some missing syntaxes). Discussing this with them was a bit difficult 'cause they both didn't understand our points and insisted they were right while they were not (by the end of this thread they understood us and admitted they were wrong);
- Lacks more fine-grained communication tools, like filtering better who to send emails when a resource is created and communicating people when resources are complete or reviewed. We had to use the API and webhooks to build our own services to improve that.

--

With all that said, it may seem they were always wrong and being stubborn. That's not the case, we also requested many stupid things and asked stupid questions along they way and they helped us understand and improve. But since the goal of this feedback is for _them_ to improve I think it's worth noting they also fail a lot on giving the best/clear support.

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have set up a nice git-centric translation process for a huge project with almost 100 developers and dozens of translators in 10 languages initially (will increase a lot soon). This project involved web UIs and android and iOS apps that will be used by millions of users.

Transifex enters the scene by being the tool we use to communicate with the translators and for them to perform the translations. Despite my long list of dislikes it works sorta ok and we're being able to move which is already *incredible*, but it surely could be much better.

**Official Response from Dimitris Glezos:**

> Juan, this is Dimitris, the Founder & CEO of Transifex. First off, I’d like to thank you for sharing your thoughts. Your feedback is essential for us to learn where we screwed up.

I’ve been working on your feedback for a couple of days now to get to the bottom of everything you’ve shared, to research our actions (both the ones you experienced and behind the scenes discussions) and see how we can improve as a team.

Support:
First off, let me start by openly sharing that we could, indeed, have been more crisp and clear with some of your questions. I know this came across as not listening, and I apologize for that. Next time we'll try to get to the point faster in our answers. If we have doubts, we'll ask to jump on a call with you to more quickly understand the topic and ask you a bunch of questions before replying.

Pricing:
Today our pricing model is based on the features and the number of hosted words on the platform. We made multiple, lengthy research studies over the years to come up with a simpler model which would make sense. We’ve considered pricing that grows with users, languages, projects or resources. None of these variables scale correctly because of how differently our customers are using the product. While the current model is not intuitive and simple, it scales surprisingly well with the value we’re offering. Maybe this is why other some of our competitors have chosen it, too.

API:
You’ve hit the nail on the head with some of your comments. We’re putting a lot of effort into upgrading and enhancing our API, adding new authentication methods and improving things under the hood. Our decision to release the improvements fast, rather than delay for many quarters and make one massive update, made parts of the API not pretty. We plan to make progress on the full migration in the next few months. We appreciate the patience until then. And thank you for reporting the suggestion for updating phrases in bulk mode over the API — our team is currently scoping out functionality, and our internal JIRA ticket is connected to your account, so we’ll let you know our plans soon.

For some of the other points you raised, we'd like to listen more from you:

- We’d love to hear your ideas on how you’d like the progress and evolution of your content’s status to be visualized.

- We’ve made quite a few performance improvements in the last few weeks related to the UI, which should have positively affected Search in the Editor. Some of them are already live. Can you please check and tell us if it’s better now via email?

- Regarding the Search field in the Editor, we couldn’t agree more that this needs work! We’ve been working on a new UI for the search. Check out your email — I’ve shared with you a mockup of our ideas, please share your thoughts with our team!

Once again, thank you. Please don't hesitate to share your thoughts and feedback with our team or directly with me.

**What do you like best about Transifex?**

They have varities of language availability.

**What do you dislike about Transifex?**

I am not sure about other languages but for Korean language there were some awkard wordings.

**Recommendations to others considering Transifex:**

Build website without language barriers!

**What problems is Transifex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I did not have to hire or go through additional translation steps.

**Official Response from Dimitris Glezos:**

>

Hi there.

I'm sorry to hear you received some awkward translations in Korean. Transifex is the software platform where translations are done, but we don't manage or have control of the translations. They really depend on the language provider (the translation agency) you're working with. If you're not happy with the performance of your language provider, you have two options:

1. Talk to the provider directly and share your concerns. Usually, your vendor's localization manager will look into the problem and work with you to find the issue. Things that they could do is to improve the quality of the Translation Memory, create a Style Guide, a Glossary, or even replace translators on your translation teams and/or offer additional review steps.

2. If this doesn't work, you can switch to a different language provider on Transifex. As a vendor-friendly platform, Transifex allows you to invite your own language vendor. So you can find a team that specializes in your type of content and language (e.g. Korean) and ensure high-quality translations.

I hope this helps you fix your problem with your translations. If you need any more help, please don't hesitate to email us at support@transifex.com.
