What do you like best about Trados?

Allows you to homogenize the style by reusing the same terminology to translate a specific term, it ensures optimum quality in terms of lexicography. It is beneficial when several translators are working on the same project.

Segment by language combination and by the client, if desired, the original phrases and their respective translations. Each client can have their preferences for translating a particular word.

It allows discounts to customers by charging only 100% of new segments. Translated segments are discounted according to set parameters. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trados?

Indeed, the program has an interface that could be improved, which reminds us of the computer science of a few years ago, and it does not work with PDF, not to mention Excel or HTML language, which are very difficult to handle with Trados. Another drawback is that documents with graphics are poorly managed and have many errors. But the weakest point, which would need a quick improvement, is that Trados is unavailable for Mac. Nowadays, more and more translators are switching to Mac because of its internal search program's power and reliability and because Apple is in fashion. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Trados?

Passolo is a high-quality translation management and localization software that offers a wide range of advanced features and useful tools. If you are involved in a translation or localization project, this software could be a great choice to streamline the process and improve your work efficiency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trados?

The cost of Passolo is quite high, which can be a problem for small companies or freelancers looking to save on production costs. Also, the software can be difficult for novice users to learn and use. There are many features and options available, which can make navigation complicated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"CAT software a bit cumbersome"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Trados?

It's quick to use: the automatic application of results from concordance and termbase makes typing very fast. High possibility of customizing the work thanks to the settings (both general and for individual projects). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trados?

I find it difficult to apply new results from TM, when I fixed 100% fuzzy. The search&replace tool is quite basic. The Verify tool becomes very slow for large files and in any case it is complicated to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Translators need to purchase them separately, and enterprise licenses are not as available as some online platforms support. The interface has many features but is somewhat complex and has some learning costs Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Trados?

SDL Trados seems to be the most popular and most used among translation communities and translation agencies, and therefore possessing experience using it, per se, is both an advantage and a requirement in many cases. SDL Trados is also compatible with other CAT tools, and you can even import TMs from Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trados?

The interface in general. It's not user-friendly, and the layout of segments makes the font look bad and unpleasant to the eye. There are also so many functions that might not be useful for many users and therefore make things seem like a mess and confusing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Expensive solution for professionals not for fainthearted freelancers..."

What do you like best about Trados?

SDL Trados is the ultimate tool for document translation professionals. Those who study translation at university are generally trained themselves for the software. The ability to remember from the translation database, Termbase creation and splitting documents into proper strings are the main selling point of the software. We have used a single licence version for the last 3 years and created an extensive database which reduces the time required for extensive revisions of annual documents and reports. Termbase is quite helpful and UI is well known, most translation professionals are familiar with the interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trados?

SDL Trados requires a gigantic monitör to see everything properly. UI tries to hard to give you a lot of details which sometimes results in confusion as you cannot focus on a single string at a time. The software user interface is for the ones that used to classic Trados, nothing fancy and modern.

Another aspect is that It's extremely expensive, and prices may be revised for low-income countries and startups or freelancers. There are cheaper solutions. The collaborative function had brought an excitement but pricing for a small translation team is a small fortune for small enterprises.(case in our country)

As Translation memory is getting bigger, it is very slow to load (10 GB+), External Spell Checkers make things even slower. Humspell (the original one) is just fine. Creating a termbase is very detailed for beginners. Migrating or moving a Project with all features requires multiple files to be transferred to the new computer

SDL Trados Live is a desperate attempt to bring PC software to the cloud. The web-based solution is behind some other web alternatives.

As our translation teams get bigger we use software less and less and migrated to web-based solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trados?

Sometimes it gives error messages that I don't understand and sometimes the files get corrupted and I have to retranslate from the TM. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
