## TortoiseHg Reviews
  ### 1. Forget TortoiseHG and use Git. Everyone else already does!

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about TortoiseHg?**

When we were still using Mercurial repositories across our organization, TortoiseHG was the best free tool to manage our code repositories. There was nothing specific to like about it; it just worked as expected.

**What do you dislike about TortoiseHg?**

The UI is very outdated, and it was a little buggy at times also.

**What problems is TortoiseHg solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used TortoiseHG as a tool to interact with Mercurial source control systems. We still have some old repositories that we have not migrated to git (due to client requirements), and these projects still use TortoiseHG.

  ### 2. Straight forward and effective version control

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**What do you dislike about TortoiseHg?**

When there's an error, the messages are somewhat cryptic, and not so easy to troubleshhot

**What problems is TortoiseHg solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Content version control accessible from all groups in my company make it easy to share content

  ### 3. Another decent source and revision control tool from Tortoise***

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tee M. | Lawyer, Apparel & Fashion, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2018

**What do you like best about TortoiseHg?**

I have used TortoiseSVN as my default SVN client for several years. I am working on a project that is source in Mercurial and have found TortoiseHg to be a great tool for working with Mercurial. I enjoy the command line tool but the best use I have for TortoiseHg is the visualized branching and merging. It really helps prevent errors from branching

**What do you dislike about TortoiseHg?**

There are a few bugs I am suprised have not been resolved. One such bug is related to how the client side password is stored. Additionally the GUI while strong is not super intuitive. Furthermore, the GUI takes a lot longer to use than the command line tool. Additionally I have a problem with GUI's in general because programmers should learn to use command line tools.

**Recommendations to others considering TortoiseHg:**

First learn to use command line tools, then use TortoiseHg command line tool for branching only

**What problems is TortoiseHg solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest issues that TortoiseHg solve is around bugs caused by branching and also by reducing the cost (in time) spent branching and merging. TortoiseHg has also been very helpful in lessening the onboarding process for developers who are not particular strong working on the Linux command line. Additionally it's similiarity to tortoisesvn and tortoisegit helps because people who are not familiar with mercurial source/version control have an easier time picking it up.

  ### 4. it's very manual

I like the interface and the fact that it is readily available on Linux. I also like the potential uses of this software.

**What do you dislike about TortoiseHg?**

I don't like that every option is so complicated if you don't read the docs.

**Recommendations to others considering TortoiseHg:**

read the docs and make the appropriate setup before.

**What problems is TortoiseHg solving and how is that benefiting you?**

version control

  ### 5. a good application to manage git repositories in the cloud.

I like the simplicity of this application, it goes straight to the point to download the repository and work quickly from any source....

**What do you dislike about TortoiseHg?**

I do not really like the graphic interface of this platform I think it can improve to increase the experience of using the product.

**Recommendations to others considering TortoiseHg:**

recommended to the entire technological community. an application very easy to use.

**What problems is TortoiseHg solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With this application I have managed to work with heavy projects in JSF and it has behaved quite well when saving and recovering data in my GIT repository.
