## About Tor
Tor is a free and open-source software that enables anonymous communication over the internet by directing traffic through a worldwide, volunteer-operated network of servers. This process conceals a user's location and usage from surveillance and traffic analysis, ensuring privacy and freedom online. Key Features and Functionality: - Anonymity: Tor routes internet traffic through a series of encrypted relays, making it difficult to trace the origin of the data. - Privacy Protection: By encrypting data multiple times and sending it through various nodes, Tor safeguards users against network surveillance and traffic analysis. - Access to Blocked Content: Tor allows users to bypass censorship and access websites and services that may be restricted in their region. - Onion Services: Tor supports the creation of ".onion" sites, which are accessible only through the Tor network, providing anonymity for both users and service providers. Primary Value and User Solutions: Tor addresses the need for privacy and freedom in online communications. It protects users from surveillance, tracking, and censorship by anonymizing their internet activities. This is particularly valuable for individuals in regions with restricted internet access, journalists communicating with sources, activists organizing under oppressive regimes, and anyone seeking to maintain their privacy online. By using Tor, users can access the internet without fear of being monitored or having their data collected, thus promoting free expression and access to information.

## Tor Reviews
 ### 1. Tor Web Browser - Goods & Bads

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jasmit Singh J. | CEO & Technology Specialist, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2023

**What do you like best about Tor?**

Certain websites present content based on the location of the visitor. Using Tor, I can access local content and services such as internet music of a particular continent.

**What do you dislike about Tor?**

A significant downside is security. Being Dark Web, you can expect your route, which is multiple hops, to be a hacker trying to find out a vulnerability in your system to distribute malware or gain some form of control.

**What problems is Tor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tor offers a quick way to connect via different geographic locations and surf from those locations to test out web services that we host here in India. At times, this requires the ability to check for latency and decide whether or not to deploy a CDN solution for the website/web application.

 ### 2. Is TOR a better browser?

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael Z. | Quality Control Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Tor?**

The best feature about TOR is the auto ad blocker. Goodbye Ads and better experience with browser. Clean and user friendly feature. It has fast responses and some helpful extensions.

**What do you dislike about Tor?**

Not secure. Too many cookies and watchers for your data browsing. Our client feel unsecure when we tell em that we use TOR. In addition, some website at pixelated.

**What problems is Tor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's a good alternative for Google Chrome. It has auto ad blocker that helps with productivity. It also has quick shortcut and user friendly features that helps in tasks management.

 ### 3. The best privacy solution you can get for free

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Tor?**

Functionality to protect your online privacy is solid. Tor network consists of countless relay points that transmit your data along with added layers of encryption. The ‘onion’ in the project’s name represents these multiple ‘peels’ of encryption: https://medium.com/@kameleo/top-3-software-tools-to-create-multiple-accounts-on-social-networks-4619bc52348e
I have not encountered any problems with my privacy during my user experience. The solution is also free.

**What do you dislike about Tor?**

The user functionality lags. The connection is much slower, you have to wait a few seconds before all packages are delivered and the page is fully uploaded.

**What problems is Tor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

First of all, I used Tor to create multiple accounts on various social platforms like Fb, LinkedIn, Reddit, etc. It suits those purposes, but it does not have any automation. You have to relaunch Tor browser for each login, and there is no possibility to disable Selenium Driver, so you will face captchas often.

 ### 4. Fun to explore!

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2017

**What do you like best about Tor?**

Tor is another way to access the internet. Generally, people access the internet using google chrome. This only accounts for roughly 90% of the whole internet. Tor allows the user to access the "deep/dark web". My favorite part of tor is exploring and reading chat rooms about relevant topics. Tor does a good job with this since it is uncensored! I also really like the whole anonymity that comes with exploring the depths of the internet with tor.

**What do you dislike about Tor?**

I do not like how slow it loaded new web pages. The slow connection is caused by bouncing the IP through different nodes across the globe. Personally, I would trade the slow connection for the anonymity that tor offers. To navigate through tor is really hard since all the websites have really weird URLs. An example is tmskhzavkycdupbr.onion. This is a website that you can buy pretty much anything from. From the URL the user cannot tell that that is the case. My point is it is hard to find what you are looking for and navigate through the deep web.

**What problems is Tor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find a lot of articles about ways to get around society norm. I am large in the cryptocurrency market. There is a lot of information on the "pump and dumps" on tor since it is kind of unethical. I would search the deep web until I come across a "pump and dump" site. Then send them some bitcoins and they will give me all the information about the "pump and dump. This has made me more money then the average person can imagine. I generally stay with the same site now since I can trust them.

 ### 5. Secure way to browse.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2018

**What do you like best about Tor?**

It's a secure method of browsing the internet. Packed into a browser based off of Firefox. Well supported and is always being updated.

**What do you dislike about Tor?**

The startup is really slow and the page to page browsing is as well. Although I do like it always being kept up to date, the process to update the TOR browser is also very slow.

**Recommendations to others considering Tor:**

Used in combination with VPNs, you should experience pretty good protection from snooping.

**What problems is Tor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maintains a security from client to server. Especially when using sensitive websites.

My favorite part of tor is exploring. I also really like the whole anonymity that comes with exploring the depths of the internet with tor.

**What do you dislike about Tor?**

I do not like how the internet is so slow. But it takes time to create the anonymous persona that tor provides when browsing.

**What problems is Tor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find a lot of articles about schemes or ways to get around society norm. An example is the cryptocurrency market. I find a lot of news about "pump and dumps" on tor. This is my business.
