In all honesty, the best piece of Todoist is the universal keyboard shortcut. I love that nomatter what program I am in or who I am talking to, I can quickly add a task with natural language input, have it show on my calendar, and be on the date that I need in a flash. In my workplace, distractions come often, so being able to do this quickly makes sure I don't miss anything. The two-way calendar sync is also really a great feature that pairs well with this. I use the free version and don't pay for the subscription, so I can't complain too much about the features. I wish the subtasks were structured a little better, but overall the app seems to work well for my needs with the free version. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Todoist has many if not the most upsides from all of the todo list apps that I have tried, it not only helps me organize my work but life all around me. You can use Todoist on any app just for starters and many other features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

A few downsides that I and some people that were also using the software around me encountered were some technical issues when creating new tasks, and sometimes people found it challenging to navigate through the app. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I mainly like the recurring date settings, where you don't have to constantly create a task that repeats, Todoist does this automatically. Besides the versatility of customization: labels, priorities, comments, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I believe there could be other types of task views, such as timeline and calendar, based on the ClickUp tool. Today, Todoist only works with 2 types of layout views: list and board. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Here's what I liked the most about Todoist:

1. NLP: I have tried hundreds of to-do list apps, and Todoist has the best Natural Language Processing abilities. It can even understand complex commands, like recurring events.

2. Interface: I love the UI and UX of Todoist. It's minimalist and does its job well without cluttering the app with countless unwanted features. Plus, it's bug-free. I never found any single instance when the app never worked.

3. Flexibility: You can customize Todoist as much as you like. In my early days of using Todoist, I followed the "Eat That Frog" methodology but later switched to the classical GTD. Plus, templates make the switch a lot more hassle-free and straightforward.

4. Motivation: You earn Karma points to motivate you to work more towards your goals. Although they are useless, they are still worth a try.

5. Integrations: Todoist is well integrated with most essential apps, like Outlook, your browser, Calendar and so on. These features make adding tasks a breeze.

6. AI features: Although it's still in its infancy, Todoist comes with AI features that suggest how you can proceed with the task. Not a part that I use personally, but it works decently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Here's what I don't like about Todoist:

1. Flexibility: Yes, it's a con for some users like me. Having too many options can indeed be overwhelming. Plus, the learning curve gets high.

2. Paywall: Todoist has hidden even the basic features like notifications behind a paywall. There's no option for a trial as well.

3. Pricing: Todoist's pricing is on the steeper side, as compared to the competition. Most features stated, like Karma points and AI, are useless for an average user. It's like taking a or nothing plan.

4. Geared towards teams: The personal plan is geared more towards the group. There are options for comments, selecting members on the Kanban board, etc. Most of them can be turned off, but why are these turned on in the first place, considering that I have opted for a personal plan?

5. Lack of essential features: There's no built-in calendar, no habits, no Pomodoro, etc. At least a built-in calendar is crucial in a to-do list app. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It would likely take me all day to explain everything I like. The is one of the most critical tools in my day to day, both professionally and personally. Its quick entry for offloading thoughts is amazing and the NLP processing of dates/times makes this even more efficient. Its such a simple setup at heart, which leaves little room for getting in my way, but also is so powerful that I can make it do anything I need. I have tried other tools in the past and none hold a candle to Todoist. I am such a fan of the values of the company that it makes it easy to be a part of this community. Only silly things here. For example, when in a filter mode, you are restricted from customizing some of the views. This really is a non-issue, but would be nice. Nothing substantial here for me at all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
