I also like the gamification element that they use to keep you motivated. It serves a dual purpose of generating personal satisfaction from getting things done as well as helping you compare productivity with fellow coworkers. Their best feature, in my opinion, is the templates. They accelerate the process of defining repeated tasks and projects. **What do you dislike about Todoist?** The first thing that I don't like is that it does not allow for other productivity methodologies that can be more suitable at times like SCRUM or Kanban. The second thing that I dislike is that is super hard to get to attachments via the comments tool. The UI is not as nice as other applications like ClickUp. I also dislike the Chrome widget. It's not as practical as some of its competitors. I would recommend them to change the way to access subtasks and checklists. It gets really complicated after a while. **Recommendations to others considering Todoist:** I would only recommend Todoist to GTD users. Otherwise, there are many tool out there that may be better for you like Clickup, Plutio, Ora, Yanado, Omnifocus, Things, and more. If you are a freelancer or don't share your work with anybody I would recommend Todoist as well. **What problems is Todoist solving and how is that benefiting you?** I solved the problem of collecting things to do from my email or performing tasks at the right time and location thanks to the location context feature. I also love to collaborate with people on this platform. I also solve the problem of prioritizing project tasks and subtasks. Communication became easier via this app as well. ### 3. It organized my day and tasks and is very user friendly. When you input tasks, it recognizes where to place it on the calendar without you as the user having to do it manually. **What do you dislike about Todoist?** I wish the app would show sub-projects under the parent project again, like it does on the desktop version. In addition.. When you view a project, you'll no longer see all the tasks in its sub-projects? I dont understand why this would be an update.. it feels senseless to me. I also wish that this app didn't have a subscription fee. I have no problem paying a one time fee but I don't feel like a glorified To-Do app requires a monthly subscription fee. Especially when considering using something like this for larger TEAM management projects, I would likely go to an app that requires only a one time payment and can handle larger projects as well as individual to do lists, than get 2 separate ones. **Recommendations to others considering Todoist:** I would recommend you consider the importance of viewing the sub-project tasks inside the main project, as this is something this app does not allow, and is considered an impedance by many people within our task force. It is very easy to use and helps you keep your tasks organized. I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a better way to manage their list of tasks. I was using Asana as a personal list, but that tool is really meant for project management, not personal task management. Todoist provides me exactly what I need to stay organized. **What do you dislike about Todoist?** It's a little bit pricey. I started using it as a student and I would have loved to have that for free or at a highly discounted price. The simple Chrome plugin of ToDoist helped me in remembering everything that needs to be done and also schedule them. ### 9. It's the first task app I've ever felt comfortable using consistently. That probably has a lot to do with its Chrome extension. I can quickly add a website as a task and there's a contextual menu for adding tasks to the inbox, as well. Tasks can have notes and attachment. Per-task and per-project e-mail reminders are reliable and easy to set up, unlike those from Google Calendar. It's also easy to share tasks, not just with designated team members but with anyone who has the app. There's a convenient Chrome app which I use when I'm really boring down into a big bunch of tasks but usually I stay in the Chrome extension which is as full-featured as the app. It's just not persistent. I like how the app tracks my productivity. I also appreciate not being constantly nagged to upgrade. The free version is quite powerful. The Premium version is inexpensive considering that. I just discovered the templating feature. Very nice. Imported a Content Calendar for my blog. Templating is available in the free version which I appreciate. **What do you dislike about Todoist?** Tough one. I wouldn't mind being able to customize the look of the app more. Some of the grays are too light for my old eyes. With the ability to use it on my desktop, android phone and as a browser plugin (so I can use it on a chrome book or when I log in to Chrome remotely) I have my to-do list handy where ever I go. **What do you dislike about Todoist?** I haven't found a way to get integration with Google Calendar in a way that works for me, It syncs tasks, but the manner in which it does so isn't fluid with the way that I work so that is probably due to user error or my personal preference and less likely a reflection of the program. **What problems is Todoist solving and how is that benefiting you?** Todoist is great because you can assign tasks to projects and place them into a team inbox to assign them to your team members. We aren't implementing this feature yet, but look forward to doing so in the new year. You can have your own personal inbox of tasks, and at the same time have separate collaborative inboxes and projects with colleagues. Todoist gives clear instructions on how to use the different features, but it's so easy to use, you almost don't need to go through it. I highly recommend you do though, just see all the different interesting things that can be done. **What do you dislike about Todoist?** The only downside I've come across is the lack of live chat in the support center. I like being able to see the upcoming day's lists, and being able to assign tasks to specific days (instead of just making one big list). I also like the Projects feature, to help me track progress on more complicated work assignments in a more developed way than simply using a to-do list. **What do you dislike about Todoist?** Occasionally when a task is completed it disappears from my list and I have trouble finding the completed tasks view, which I think it important to be able to view. **What problems is Todoist solving and how is that benefiting you?** I think it helps solve the problem of constantly using paper to-do lists (which can be easily lost); instead I can easily access my tasks and build upon my list in a constructive way. For our project management at work, it also helps solve the problem of distributing project assignments and steps in a clear and memorable way (the email feature, and assigning tasks and due dates to certain people, helps avoid having certain steps fall through the cracks if we didn't know who was working on them. I like that there's app, desktop, and browser versions. It's the best version of a physical to do list turned digital and manageable. It's easier to reorganize tasks,add photos and links etc. I know there are more features I haven't even dipped my toe into. **What do you dislike about Todoist?** I don't think there's really anything I dislike. No features I really wanted. I would have issues figuring out how to tab in or nest a task under another, but I must've figured that out or dealt with the trial and error because I can't describe it better now. **What problems is Todoist solving and how is that benefiting you?** In the work of trying to change the world either at a nonprofit, political campaign, running my own business, and keeping my personal and family life together, I needed something to literally keep it all together. I've tried Google, anydo, Trello, Evernote, airtable and other kanban styles that might work in the physical for me but not the digital or apps that just didn't click for me. I loved having different boards but could tag a task in multiple. I love setting deadlines and my daily email - though when I was falling behind it annoyed or stressed me. My team liked it so much some of them adopted it personally. As a manager, it was great for keeping track of my team's work, and it was easy to create a snapshot for my supervisor. ### 43. Is there honestly anything more completely satisfying than checking something off a to-do list? I have a tendency to add items as soon as I think about it, but then if I scroll through all my various projects, it feels daunting. Assigning dates help, if and only if you can stick to it and set them far enough in advance. **What problems is Todoist solving and how is that benefiting you?** What I love most about this app and the desktop version is that you can share projects, and get notifications when your team members complete things from your shared list. Recent updates have caused things like tasks disappearing after I add them (sometimes returning at a different time), priorities/due dates sometimes disappearing, and the add task field being displayed in the wrong part of the page and not functioning.
