Tocanan is a Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and AI social listening firm based in Hong Kong, founded in 2019. The GEO practice measures and improves how AI engines describe, cite and recommend brands. It covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Grok, and the Chinese platforms DeepSeek, Doubao, Kimi, Qwen and Baidu Ernie. The service is organised as four modules: GEO Foresight identifies emerging questions in a brand's category; GEO Action prepares content for citation by AI engines, covering entity clarity, statistics, schema markup and cross-platform consistency; GEO Monitoring queries each engine with category prompts and records which brands are mentioned, in what position, with what sentiment and accuracy, reported as an AI Generative Visibility Rating (AIGVR); and GEO Insights analyses the results into strategy for the next cycle. The social listening practice uses large language models to analyse posts, reviews and forum threads in more than 20 languages, producing consumer-insight and brand-monitoring reports. It includes AiReportPro, a media intelligence and PR analytics service, and covers Xiaohongshu and other Chinese platforms. Work is delivered in English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Arabic, for clients in hospitality, financial services, insurance, government and tourism, and consumer brands across Asia-Pacific, Greater China and the Middle East. Tocanan was founded by Eden Lau, co-founder of Brandtology (2009).
