"A great modern POS system"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Toast?

Toast is an very easy to use and modern platform. The staff pick it up very quickly. It generally makes operations pretty smooth. It integrates with other systems very well so greet data access. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Toast?

A recent update to the user experience is not as streamlined as I think Toast hopes it to be. After several months using it there are still some challenges and difficulty navigating that weren't there before. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great UI, Functionality, and Hardware"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Toast?

***Functionality***

- Cloud-hosted service means no need for an on-site server, and all changes can be made remotely.

- Changes can be saved, then published. You can change things during business hours and not worry about every small change being updated to the POS as you change settings or build menus.

- Reports are deep and customizable. Everything can be exported to CSV files if you want to use data in outside sheets.

***UI***

- Website UI is clean, modern, and intuitive. Options are presented in ways that make sense and are easy to find. Search function on the website makes it easy to find settings that might otherwise be hidden behind a couple menus.

- POS and handheld UI is clean and straightforward as well. Training is fairly simple as everything is presented clearly.

- Customer facing UI is clear and minimalist.

***Hardware***

- Professional, modern, and durable hardware. No more bulky terminals collecting dust in corners.

- Terminals are slim but sturdy.

- Handhelds provide lots of functionality including credit card payments via swipe, chip, or tap to pay.

- Handhelds can take a beating. These things have been dropped countless time but yet to have a cracked screen in 1 year+ with 8 handhelds in use.

- Ticket and receipt printers work great, are very durable and cheaper than their legacy Epson counterparts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Toast?

***Cloud Service Outages***

- Cloud services are excellent for their purpose, but when these go down during service, it can cause lots of confusion as customers try to use QR codes that are not communicating with our terminals and printers.

- Offline mode works great during internet outages, but all QR codes must be pulled to prevent customers from placing orders we won't receive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"ToastTab predatory practices"

What do you like best about Toast?

Initially on paper, ToastTab is that solution for restaurant operators that the doctor ordered, however, buyer should be aware this companies ethics are suspect at best. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Toast?

In addition to providing point-of-sale cloud services for restaurant operators, the company features several add-ons, i.e. online, ordering, access to the Toast API for third-party vendors, loyalty program, online email marketing. Recently Toast implemented a $.99 service charge, where Toast is charging the restaurants customers this fee. Please note that restaurants already pay a monthly subscription service fee for the ability to have online ordering.

For many different reasons this type of $.99 fee that Toast is putting on the back of our customers is unacceptable. Now post pandemic, fast food/quick serve Restaurants are already catching backlash for having tip suggestions during the checkout process now a $.99 charge is the straw that's breaking the camels back. Although during check out toast does mention that they are the collector of the $.99, however, our customers don't see the distinction and know nothing about "Toast".
