## Toast Reviews
  ### 1. Toast Payroll has been a nightmare for our team since day one.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelsey P. | Director of Marketing and HR, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2021

**What do you like best about Toast?**

The only positive about Toast Payroll is that it is *intended* to sync with Toast Tab and 7Shifts. It rarely works.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

There is an issue daily. Randomly kicks various employees, everything is always "escalated" to another person when you call support, and they never have answers. We switched from Gusto for our 11 restaurants.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

Gusto

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Zero issues have been resolved. We are switching back to Gusto.

  ### 2. Best POS system out there. Super user friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mustang S. | G, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Very interactive and easy to use and all my employees love it.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

There has not been anything that we don't like about toast

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Any issue I have had was fixed immediately. Their customer service is amazing. They have specific techs to help with very specific needs

  ### 3. Everything you need from a POS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Toast?**

With this cloud-based POS system, it's easy to pull nightly sale reports, access the POS back-end, configure settings, and more.... All from any wi-fi connected device!

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Online chat support can be cumbersome and less-than-helpful. All info and tutorials are available, but require manual look-up and a lot of reading

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer service needs work.

All restaurant data at my fingertips is a huge plus!

  ### 4. Toast is good for small business

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Phillip M. | O, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Toast?**

I like the technology. Toast is always out front on the latest & greatest software technology.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Technology moves too fast. I do not always have time to catch up

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving our staffing issues with pay at the table. lower labor costs

  ### 5. Toast makes sense

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Noa R. | Americorps Member, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2021

**What do you like best about Toast?**

I've only been using it a few days and I'm new to food service. From my experience so far, it's pretty straightforward and makes me feel relatively organized.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

I sometimes worry that details slip through the cracks

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

Shop around and make sure that the abilities of Toast encompass your needs and if it has *too many* features, I'm not sure it's worth it to buy.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Toast seems to sync very well across systems and needs. It's easy to edit and make changes quickly and make things across my work very consistent.

  ### 6. Good But Bad

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darren F. | General Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2020

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Integrated online Ordering. Easy to use. Cloud Management Reporting

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

1. Online Ordering does not fully replicate POS menu...unable to handle duplicate menu items in the same customer order. This is a big issue as it renders a key portion of my online menu (the combo plates) unworkable for the customer.
2. Customer Service is ridiculously understaffed...my staff and I have spent at times over and hour and a half waiting on phone call support for help
3. Our Sales guy just sent us whatever he wanted without confirming with me first. We got Guest Facing Displays as tabletop setups instead the hang-on the back of register versions like we needed. It was our first toast purchase and nobody asked us or clarified with us. And once you signed their contract there is no modification at all allowed...you're stuck with whatever the sales guy sent you
4. Implementation is a beast to complete: Our Implementation Manager failed to port our menu correctly. Was always making excuses not for showing up to previously scheduled meetings. And then when things were still wrong, told us we could do it ourselves as he was too busy to help us. He was so busy, that we had to "Go Live" with the new POS without him
5. Toast will lock you into a multi-year prepaid finance contract with an unrelated 3rd party so that after you sign the dotted line there is no flexibility in modifying your order. You're locked in at that point and you have to personally guarantee the contract with the 3rd party.
6. If you have multi-unit locations, there is no way using the Toast POS to have a standard universal menu. We have got 4 stores, and each time we adjust the menu we have do it 4 times. This results in additional risk in menu errors, and inconsistencies across the menus, and wastes a lot of time in menu maintenance across the enterprise.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest benefit we solved using Toast is having the Online Ordering integrated into the POS and having all management reporting in the Cloud

  ### 7. The entire experience was easy and painless!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Trevor Q. | Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Toast reporting is a perk of the system. Real-time reporting and analytics make it easy to run the business's daily operations.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Different job codes having the same permissions as their highest job codes. The loyalty program does not allow for a cap to be set for redemption limits or point expiration

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In-depth analysis of sales and products sold at specific times, as well as business flow to allow for appropriate staffing.

  ### 8. Experience using Toast in a bar setting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Toast is definitely designed with the service industry in mind. It is user friendly, efficient, and allows you to correct mistakes easily.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

From time to time, the servers crash, making it difficult to process checks.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

Make the switch! Super user friendly and efficient for both management and staff.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Synchronize the menu changes between the website and the POS system.

  ### 9. A complete mobile POS system for your restaurant with this great tool.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John E. | Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2021

**What do you like best about Toast?**

I like Toast as it provides very feasible and considerable solutions, with a high level of progress, once an establishment decides to acquire the functions of this software, guaranteeing constant growth, I love this system, precisely because it is a All-in-one mobile POS server, which is responsible for providing the best experience to all new, loyal and loyal users of said business with services to the public, without excluding that one of the most peculiar characteristics apart from their interactions with customers in a way automatic, is that it offers a series of follow-ups for the realization of various reports, for a complete study of the progress at a general level, or rather the life cycle that a certain work property acquires.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Since it is a software widely used by an extensive line of restaurants, it does not allow a main access, or rather a free trial to determine the safe and feasible use, for future users more strict in their work determinations, which is a problem since sometimes it cannot be what we need to solve the problems presented, which a free service for a long time to visualize the effectiveness of said program, would not be bad.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

Toast is an ideal software for the use of restaurants, since all its functions are perfectly coupled to the need of these establishments in multiple points of view, from customer service, to billing and calculation of the income that is obtained. day after day, being a complete system in the branch of provision of services to the public, providing the best experience to each registered user, being recommended in large proportions, since it provides a complete function, which allows guaranteeing the drastic growth of these companies anonymous in most of their working senses.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We currently use Toast in our establishment, because it provides us with incredible functions, in which we can perform most of our work processes in a fast and automatic way in order to provide a unique experience thanks to the complete POS service that this system provides, Without excluding that in the same way, with this software, we have been able to achieve a more efficient and orderly registration and billing, since it offers an analytical program of the sales we acquire, payroll reports and among other multiple aspects, being ideal for us, since Since the beginning of its implementation, it has been possible to visualize a higher trait in the income obtained, improving our operations, considering a fluid and solid growth.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Toast?**

The user friendliness of it, the minimal amount of extra frills, the sleek design of the layout.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

There is no app for my phone, I use the website which is just annoying to sign in to as often as I do.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

How everything is all in one place, time cards, sales, employee info etc.

  ### 11. I would def recommend Toast to any small to medium size business opening up retail location.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Toast?**

I like the master menu management funtions.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

I dislike the lack of integretion with 3rd party software companies.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

Make sure to explore alternate app and their ability to integrate with Toast.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving problems we were having with master menu management with other POS systems.

  ### 12. I recommend Toast all the time!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Toast?**

User Friendly, almost everyone can easily adapt to switching over to Toast.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Hold! It's the worst. If a customer needs a drink while their entrees are on hold and still waiting for their appetizers, the system send the items on hold

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Online ordering is a dream come true! The KDS is amazing!!!

  ### 13. Amazing POS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tony B. | General Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Remote ability to access from anywhere including mobile device

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Technical support, would prefer a dedicated team member

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

Set up your menu correctly from the beginning makes your execution a whole lot easier.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Menu items listed and being able to capture on reports

  ### 14. It's easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Toast?**

It's easy and uncomplicated. We have a more complicated business than what Toast allows, but we can easily transfer what Toast provides to our books to be input in the way we like. The partnership with XtraChef is a bonus.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

The reports could use some work - it would be nice to control more variables when creating them. Downloading information on sales of different categories and breakdowns would also be helpful.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a reliable POS system.

  ### 15. Great upgrade from previous POS system

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Toast?**

The integration between the website and pos, along with how easy it is to update items

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Card readers break too easily, along with system going down at times

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not a ton of problems, the tablets are a benefit with efficient service.

  ### 16. Accurate accounting and table recording

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Umberto S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Toast?**

It is now easy for us to manage our tables. Invoices can be split and the connection to our POS systems and their installation was very easy and quick. The reports are very accurate and informative. We can now see exactly which sales were generated on which day.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

In general, the connection works very well - sometimes there is a connection timeout and it is necessary to turn off all devices, otherwise we can no longer process payments.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are very enthusiastic about the simplicity and can now process and record all card payments as well as cash payments. The breakdown by card provider in the reports is very good and we can also see if a transaction has been booked incorrectly or if there is still an open invoice that needs to be paid.

  ### 17. Perfect implementation for our restaurant

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Giorgio B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Toast?**

The system is very clearly designed and also the adaptation to our needs worked without any problems. I also like the flexibility of the payments and the reports allow us to see the current status of the payments at any time.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

We wanted to install a label printer for the restaurant area, but unfortunately this was no longer compatible after the last update.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With the tool, I and my employees can make the administration easier and more effective. The payment processing works perfectly and thanks to the reports we can see exactly whether all payments correspond to the statements. The acceptance and execution of payments is very fast.

  ### 18. Easy to Manage Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff W. | Owner/Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Great tracking tool for historical data, allows me to run my restaurant even when I'm not able to be there all the time

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

That you can't send electronic invoices to be paid by customer

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

Use for Ease to run your restaurant

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As the owner, I can't always be there on site so Toast has been great for me to keep track of sales and look back at historical data.

  ### 19. Awesome POS system

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Ease of Use, cashiers can learn easily. no issues with any tickets at all.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Needs to integrate with Uber, so that all the platforms are integrated

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

Best POS system Hands down

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of use, easier for cashiers to train. reports are awesome and easy to get

  ### 20. Good management from the restaurant

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lauris G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2021

**What do you like best about Toast?**

I am very enthusiastic about the accurate reports and we can also control the settlements very well. The acceptance and execution of payments is always satisfactory and there are never any errors.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

When splitting invoices, I can only enter them into the system as separate calculations - it would be better if I could then combine the respective payments.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The tool makes our work easier in the administration and in the restaurant. We can coordinate the processes exactly and save time and personnel. The reports help us calculate our sales figures and are also used for our purchasing of goods.

  ### 21. Good POS payment tools for restaurants

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Henrik G. | Administration, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Very clear dashboard and good settings for managing open invoices. We also find the merchandise tracking feature very helpful for our inventory management.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Posting additional expenses on a table does not always work flawlessly - it sometimes happens that the receipt is printed multiple times in the kitchen and thus an order is processed twice.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payments work without problems and we can always check the current status thanks to the accurate reports. The tool increases our productivity and also helps us manage reservations in the restaurant.

  ### 22. Easy configuration and management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Riccardo V. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2020

**What do you like best about Toast?**

We can completely modify the seating arrangement. The restaurant manager works very well and offers many additional functions. The search tool is very good to sort the open invoices. Payments go through without problems.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

If there is something I do not like, it is probably the slightly higher price. But the tool is very mature in it's functions and works well.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can manage our restaurant completely with this tool - the payments are displayed correctly. Shared bills at one table are no longer a problem, also the rebooking of tips works fine.

  ### 23. Intuitive and easy to use - also for inventory

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ingeborg R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Toast?**

The software is well thought out - I can assign tables and create the table plan. Prices can be split and the connection with our ticket printer in the kitchen and at the cash desks works good.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Discounts from bonus cards and for pick-ups from delivery services are a little harder to activate. It's not possible to create an additional, separate invoice-circle for this.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to better manage the restaurant administration (serving and taking orders). We also enter the stock level and with the help of the reports we can analyze which products are most needed and how the business is going.

  ### 24. Inelegant, but effective.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2020

**What do you like best about Toast?**

It's a workhorse of a platform. When properly configured, it does its job well as a employee-facing interface.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

As a guest-facing tool, it's clunky and inelegant. Additionally, some features are tucked away on the admin-side, making some implementations take longer (even with training or searching the help tools). There have been one or two times we've spoken with customer service/tech team and they actually didn't know how to fix a problem and needed to consult with someone else, days later, to fix a problem.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

Don't expect the must beautiful guest experience with Toast. It's powerful and a workhorse when properly programmed. It does as it promises, but takes a LOT of initial startup effort and training.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integrating gift cards with Toast was the best thing for our accounting department. The management of the day-to-day running of the restaurant using the POS plus the gift cards was a lifesaver.

  ### 25. New Restaurant Owner & New to Industry

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris B. | Venture Partner, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2020

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Team at Toast was very easy to work with, agile, and listed well to our needs. Software was intuitive and powerful all in one. Reporting and analytics were super helpful as we scaled and transformed business from year one to year two (pretty substantially).

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Pricing 'all in' was a bit higher than we expected and the handhelds were a bit more clunky / less than ideal and many servers ended up using notepads and terminals for speed / ease of use.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

Encourage the use of their consultants on the set up / initial implementation especially if you are new to the industry.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

End to end business optimization, efficiency, planning, management. Real time transparency / optics to manage and modify operations while holding team accountable. Ability to manage staffing levels, as well as proper menu management were highlights. Additionally we had early troubles with ticket times in / out of the kitchen, so were able to use metrics and daily / weekly reports to lower ticket times by 50% from year one to year two by providing access and visibility to not only management, but the staff.

  ### 26. Worth Every Penny!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jayelynn W. | Store Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Toast?**

This helped improve our efficiency at work tremendously. Not only is the functionality simple and easy to learn / train staff on, but they offer handheld devices that fit in your back pocket / server apron which allows me to carry more glasses in my hands. Customer service is always very responsive plus they have an online "university" with tips and videos to help solve your problem even faster.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Understanding the reports can be a little difficult as the numbers don't always add up. If you cannot find the answer online and they have to escalate it to a high tier customer service rep, it can take a few days to hear back.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

It's worth the money for the handhelds alone. It's streamlined and cloud based which makes it incredibly easy to use.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Toast staff is able to log into multiple devices which helps us get through out line / ring people out much faster. Having the handhelds make staff more efficient as it fits in your pocket so you're able to clear tables faster.

**Official Response from Jasmine Chan:**

> Hi Jayelynn, Jasmine from Toast here. Thanks for the review. We're thrilled to hear you're loving your Toast Go's and have been taking advantage of Toast University!

  ### 27. Toast is a great restaurant POS!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Heather M. | Co-Owner, Restaurants, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Toast is a modern, user-friendly, and nimble POS system with good customer service, hospitality-centered features, and fast performance.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Toast could improve upon it's reporting. It can be difficult to assemble reports for date over date, or specific menu items, or long range time periods.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Toast at our three unique concepts to much success. We have a high-volume bar, a deli-market, and a bistro. Toast fits well into each location and has customizable features for each of the three.

  ### 28. Sleek & Simple

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Toast?**

toast is a great platform that i strongly believe every restaurant should use. it is user friendly and easy to learn; this was the software used at the first restaurant i served at and is my favorite thus far. it allows for effective communication between FOH and BOH staff. the aesthetics are clean, simple, and easy to understand unlike other restaurant systems that are cluttered and disorganized. i miss my first serving job solely because of this system that was used.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

the servers tend to shut down sometimes, but that could be just a specific restaurant location problem. other than that, i honestly have no complaints.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

highly recommend!!!

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the layout of the system is so organized and it’s easy to correct any server mistakes. everything is clear-cut which minimizes the confusion amongst staff, as everyone is on the same page thanks to this system. communication throughout the establishment flows so well with toast, and definitely makes everything a lot smoother. i love it.

We had a couple of things that we didn't care for when we originally began however during that time they have begun actualizing updates so they have heard every one of our worries and highlights/features we all need to work.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

Toast is as great or superior to anything I have utilized and their client administration is incredible. Likewise their estimating is aggressive. I am content with our decision of Toast. Simply attempt it - it is ideal for both enormous and independent ventures of any sort.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are utilizing for time following and controls on limits/voids. Toast permits all dimensions of the board and staff to know about the business' wellbeing/objectives and add to them. Toast has made our client's experience requesting, simpler and quicker.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kayla G. | Bartender, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Toast?**

It's easier to see as well as more up to date than Aloha.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Too much going on. Too many steps just to ring in an order.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

Still iffy if it'll be good for the future of the company.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I just trained with it and mu anxiety is already sky high because of all the unnecessary extra steps and things to remember on top of remembering the order in the first place

  ### 31. Toast Has Passed the Test

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michelle R. | Manager , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Toast?**

All our information is stored conveniently in one place. Sales reports, labor reports, discount tracker, AND an easy to use Point of Sale.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Sometimes, we run into situations where a bit more customization would be useful. Also, when the system goes down without warning, chaos ensues.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to count our drawers, track our performance, and clock in and out using the same program which cut costs for us and made everything more convenient.

  ### 32. "Toast Review"

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Donna H. | Restaurant Supervisor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Toast?**

It's a simple to-utilize programming, with a set-up that takes into consideration numerous areas and matching up with stock to examine deals. Toast has created, and keeps on improving, a standout amongst the best POS stages we have experienced. Their help is first rate and they reliably treat our business as their very own augmentation. Toast has reliably been a key accomplice for us and has helped us execute a POS arrangement that conveys all usefulness that we were seeking after. There is a huge amount of customization and combination alternatives accessible to enable the business to develop.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Nothing - this is an incredible framework with the exception of that at some point reaction time from Toast support is a little moderate making it trying when a developing issue emerges.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

Toast is streamlined and enables you to shave hours off of work due the usability and with the programmed deals synopses sent day by day to our messages gave it wipes out a great part of the business review process.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Toast permits all dimensions of the executives and staff know about the business' wellbeing and objectives and add to them. Toast's Online Ordering Module which is associated with our site works immaculately. Clients request and pay online and their ticket flames to Kitchen at proper time dependent on their pickup time. We see quick profit for choices with respect to work costs regularly and we 're utilizing this data to develop our business.

**Official Response from Jasmine Chan:**

> Hi Donna, Jasmine from Toast here. I'm happy to hear you love our Online Ordering Module and see how Toast has enabled you to run your business more efficiently and successfully. We're excited to continue to help your restaurant thrive!

  ### 33. Easy to use, not easy to learn.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Toast works well and it's very customizable. Once you get the hang of it, it is really easy.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

I have found that it's not easy to learn on your own. It isn't as intuitive as other softwares like Aloha. You have to have someone to tell you where things are, as there are often hidden features that are required for the job.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

Have someone in tech that can alter the program on demand and help troubleshooting in the beginning of use at the very least.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Modifying orders has been a lot easier, since we have used toast to costumize our modifiers to each specific item.

**Official Response from Jasmine Chan:**

> Hi there, Jasmine from Toast here. Thank you for your review! We appreciate your feedback as we are continuously working to improve our product.

  ### 34. User friendly experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Toast is user friendly and easy to learn, at least for what I use it for. I am a server so I use it for taking orders and cashing customers out, not managerial tasks.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

I don’t have any reasons to dislike toast.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

I think this is the perfect, most universally used software system for the service industry. if I were deciding which to use I would choose toast for its ease of use.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Toast saves time since everything is on its own button and I am not writing down orders and lengthy instructions. I can single tap and create an entire note in seconds. I especially love the mini toast handheld device.

  ### 35. Quick and easy interface to use however lacks Apple Pay

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Toast?**

I like the color coated buttons for efficiency and the ability to hold a check and look up a check from months prior with the last 4 digits of a card

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

The inability to hook up more than one drawer, so I cannot open the second drawer with the toast app and I have to do so manually and there is no Apple Pay

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Card reader problems, we had to disable chip reader and swipe only

  ### 36. Love it

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Toast?**

I love that you can put your menus and table arrangements on there. The employees are able to clock in and we can track their hours

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

It needs to be a little more user friendly

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking hours and changing the menu is easy

  ### 37. Not a good for fit

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Stratex's report writer meets our needs and is easy to work with. We have made many custom reports that we edit regularly. I also like their onboarding wizard. Their workflow makes onboarding new hires streamlined for HR and provides a nice experience for new employees.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Stratex's customer service is often swamped so it takes a while to get answers. Some basic payroll features like having one max deferral limit for both regular pre-tax and Roth 401k deductions are not reliable. Their sales team over promised on several features like point in time reporting and integration with single sign on providers.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have given our employees a self service platform to view their payroll data. It also manages our handful of non-exempt employees well by providing an integrated timesheet synced to payroll.

  ### 38. Toast Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Toast has a wonderful team that is able to adapt the software and customize it to fit your specific restaurant needs. Very responsive team at Toast. The offline mode is also a benefit that my old system did not have.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Occasionally it can run slow but the team at Toast is helpful with any problems.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Toast has made the POS experience very user friendly. It is a clean interface. Many benefits compared to legacy systems.

**Official Response from Jasmine Chan:**

> Hi there, Jasmine from Toast here. We're happy you find our all-in-one POS system to be a solution that works to fit your business and to hear about your positive experience with the Toast team!

  ### 39. Toast system is pretty good but lacks a few things

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tony W. | Professional photographer , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2019

**What do you like best about Toast?**

I think Toast is a pretty good system. It makes the work a lot smoother when having to communicate with the kitchen and bar without having to go scream orders to them.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

I dislike the fact that it is not organized enough to make very quick requests. You have to search for everything.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Orders

  ### 40. Functionality of toast

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Toast?**

It is really nice to have quick access to all of the options needed.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

It freezes up whenever the weather is bad or it is a really busy night. We would often have to take orders by hand.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a faster system than before and it is a lot easier to issue gift cards and refunds.

  ### 41. Food service software with potential

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Toast?**

The UI is clean and easy to navigate, if organized correctly.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

It seems that Toast does not perform any usability testing with actual users of the software (at least not with the company I work for). This leads to odd organization/labeling of categories which could otherwise be much more refined.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Toast is used as the POS at the cafe I work at. On the customer end, it is easy to follow as all they need to navigate through is the tip screen, signature, and then mode of receipt.

  ### 42. Best POS system I have ever used!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica C. | Manager, Restaurants, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Toast?**

My staff is in love with being able to do multiple checks with ease and quickness. This reduces time at the computer and helps them run their shift with more time taking care of guest needs and being able to interact more with their guests.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

We do run into the problem of running credit cards back to back and the credit card readers not responding to cards. You have to back out of the check and go back into it. Also, going to back to fix a drawer mistake the next day, maybe there is a way but I have not been able to find it.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

This is the obvious choice to use in restaurants. Every employee has had a very easy time using this POS and the Toast University is such a great way to train. Not one of my employees has had any issues using this system and I love the way that I could easily set-up the computer to make sure that I had everything I needed. And every time I need to change something, even while out of the restaurant, it is easy and immediate. I would definitely recommend this to every restaurant manager.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to send business receipts to an email is so beneficial. I don't have to manually look at the day's receipts and can easily find them and send them. guests appreciate the quickness too if they lost their receipt for a business trip.

**Official Response from Jasmine Chan:**

> Hi Jessica, Jasmine here from Toast- I am so happy to hear about the value you are seeing after switching to our POS. For help with fixing checks, please refer to this Knowledge Base article on cash drawer and shift review troubleshooting: https://central.toasttab.com/s/article/Cash-Drawer-and-Shift-Review-Troubleshooting. ### 43. Best Customer Service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melissa B. | Restaurant Bar Manager, Restaurants, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Toast?**

I love the fact that whenever I've had a question, I have multiple ways to find an answer. Whether I'm calling the support line, or looking on central.toasttab.com, I've never been left without an answer to my questions. I like being able to talk to a real person in real time who can instantly pull up my info for my restaurant and has insight into my question and how to resolve it. Super great service and I'm always impressed!!

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

I know that updates are on their way, and certain things take longer than others, but I would LOVE it if there was a search option for inventory items from the main screen. The navigation is really easy, but sometimes I'd rather just search for an item I know we have instead of looking through extensive lists.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

If you are in the industry of food, beverage, or restaurants, you should absolutely consider Toast. Representatives from the company have worked in the industry and have an idea of what you're talking about before you even ask a question. They have experience that they can use as insight to intuitively get you what you need. There are so many ways to customize the software - there's no way you can walk away from this decision unhappy.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm able to track sales very specifically with the analytics and can keep my business from running out of inventory items by tracking volume. Immediate publishing is a huge benefit to be able to keep my terminals updated with the latest items.

**Official Response from Jasmine Chan:**

> Hi Melissa, Jasmine from Toast here. We are happy to hear about your positive experience with our customer service- we are always here to help you! We appreciate your feedback about a search option for inventory and will keep this in mind as we continue to improve our product to meet all of our customers’ needs.

  ### 44. Toast Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Toast?**

It was easy to learn the basics and overall easy to use the design and set-up were visually appealing.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Returns were difficult, though that may have just been the company.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It made helping customers very simple as well as creating end of day reports.

  ### 45. Don't waste your time

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospitality | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Nothing. their service is so poor that when supervisor tells you would got resolution, you won't get it for another month. they always find an excuse.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Worst Layout and mediocre reports. They don't provide any customer service. Any report would take months. to deliver. And that is also incomplete. They do not have proper developers as well.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

Stay away. there are other better products.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a problem from the beginning. they over promise and don't deliver. We lost complete accounting due their screw up.

  ### 46. Good enough

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2019

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Toast had a simplistic design. It’s a little complicated for my bar manager to use.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Ease of use isn’t geared towards the older generation that hasn’t grown up with technology.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Balancing books/stocks is a lot easier.

  ### 47. Excellent platform with modern abilities and excellent customer service

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt T. | COO, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Toast?**

I have had issues with other systems when I needed support. Toast has figured out that I just want a human to answer and handle my situation because I have a restaurant to run. Generally, the person who answers is the person who is going to help me out and that is huge. Also, just the modernity of the system and the evolution via updates lets me know that if I don't have a function that I want now I probably will soon.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

The Master Menu system (I think that is what it was called) sounded like a great idea and was definitely an original buying factor for my restaurant group. It turned out to be incredibly clunky to set up with too much room for small, easy-to-make mistakes, that would cause huge issues. This was such a problem that I scrapped the whole program even though I have six restaurants that are 75% similar under the same name. The other incomprehensible nuisance with the system is the inability for modifiers to inherit Applicable Sales Tax and Sales Category attributes from their parents. I just don't get that one.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

Do it. Toast is a great product as-is and seems to consistently working towards a being a better product. The malleable nature of the system and responsiveness to the unpredictable nature of the Restaurant Industry has made it a life-saver.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My restaurants make a lot of changes to menu and offerings on the fly and the ease of execution changing buttons and menus around is extremely beneficial. Our old system would require a 5 min cease of operation for any update whatsoever. Another huge problem resolved is the ability to make adjustments to the system from anywhere at any time. As a COO who has a hand on POS operations, that is huge for me to be able to jump in and fix issues that arise from off-premise.

**Official Response from Jasmine Chan:**

> Hi Matt- Jasmine here from Toast. I’m happy to hear you have had a positive experience with our support team as well as the value that you are seeing from the features of our POS system. Our main goal is to help your restaurant thrive, and we understand that includes getting your questions answered, fast. We appreciate your feedback on the Master Menu system and modifiers.

  ### 48. I would recommend Toast. Positives outweigh negatives by large margin

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ron D. | Partner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2018

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Customer support is friendly and helpful in most situations,
System has good reporting and good flexibility.
POS system is easy to learn for new cashiers to learn.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Some issues that should be addressed don't get much attention even though they have a huge impact on our productivity.
Online Ordering has some quirks that make it difficult to accurately fulfill customer orders and and receipts only get printed on certain orders. Online orders do not add duplicate items the same way that the tablets do. They will have multiple lines of the same item taking up valuable space on the KDS units and causing the cooks to have to scroll thru the order to count how many orders of fries or other identical items that 1 ticket has.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

Make sure you go over exactly what you need & how you want to use it. Chances are Toast will be a good fit for you. It's updated regularly and support is quick & helpful.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Toast makes it possible for us to not require the services of a bookkeeper.

  ### 49. Diamond in the rough

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Addam O. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2018

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Where to begin. Coming from an ancient legacy system to a state of the art, cloud based POS has been game changing for us. One of the best features is that it is reliable. Period.
Second feature is the ease of changes on the fly. I can make major menu changes fast and easily thanks to the builtin back office feature.
I also love the online ordering integration. Works very well.
Lastly, I like that the initial setup and reporting was intuitive and easy to wrap my head around. Reports are easy to access and sort.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

No a huge fan of the self processing for credit cards. Definitely at their mercy when it comes to fees. They are not bad but if they decide to raise them,
Also, the rewards program is weak. More of just a database creator than a usable feature.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

See it live before you commit. Also, high bandwidth internet is an absolute must. Setup can be tedious but do it right the first time and you will thank yourself.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Online ordering integration was seamless and boosted sales. Training has been revolutionized. Reporting accuracy is fabulous. Realiability is not an issue. Support is great.

  ### 50. User friendly and affordable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Haley W. | General Manger of Bistro Operations, Hospitality, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Toast?**

Accessibility; literally anywhere I am I can see how the business is doing and I can also edit everything remotely which is wonderful. The available hardware such as their toast go which is a portable pos system has been the best product we could have purchased. It has increased our service times two-fold. Customer support is also a big plus with this company.

**What do you dislike about Toast?**

Limited reporting/exporting options. I can see whatever information I am looking for one the Toast platform but when you go to export the information it gives you everything instead of specifics. Also I wish the time clock print out would show accumulated weekly hours. Both have been addressed with Toast who said they have submitted these suggestions.

**Recommendations to others considering Toast:**

Just do it! Price is affordable, support is wonderful, and the hardware is ideal.

**What problems is Toast solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1) Service times; Toast Go has been a miracle for our restaurant/bar. 2) The remote access has also been a huge benefit because now all owners/managers can see what is happening in realtime from vitally any location with internet. Aside from seeing realtime information, all admin users can change or edit virtually anything without having to be on-site. 3) The ability to change layouts is also important for us since we do a lot of events. Menu changes are easy to make and the ability to recall an archived product makes this process even easier.
