The software does a great job creating an effective report that dives into security flaws with a network configuration. The ability for it to compare a device config file against PCI compliance and CIS benchmarks helps reduce the need for explanation in a readout with business clients. In addition, Nipper is able to intelligently decipher and define object groups and classes which is extremely beneficial when reviewing firewalls. Lastly, when reviewing complementary networks that support industrial control systems, Nipper is capable of assessing Allen Bradley devices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The device is an offline scanner. It is unable to factor in network environment factors when determining security concerns. In addition, the software is limited in what devices are compatible with it. Often times device configs from F5 and Palo Alto do not yield very good reporting data. Another note is that the software is subscription based around the number of scans performed. This is similar to some Tenable billing models, but the cost can be very expensive for large network audits. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
