The TIP tool is super easy to use compared to Excel for managing patentable ideas. Drag-and-drop feature to move ideas from one stage to another is quite useful. The idea form is simple - innovators find it intuitive to fill. Staying in sync with USPTO updates saves attorney hours. Gives a quick glimpse of innovation and patent pipeline. Shows patent analytics for patent counsel, examiner, art unit etc to inform about the health of a patent application. It's real-time collaboration feature is like no other tool in the market. It's little buggy at times, but I am hoping that as the devlopement continues to work on the product - it will surely shine. The TIP tool is a safe bet - as docketing software are too expensive and have many features that you don't even need as an innovation manager. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I found the product very useful for the list of ideas that I had. Used to work over emails before and then moved to excel. But excel got corrupted once and took me a long time to recover the idea list I had (thankfully, I was able to do so eventually!). I found the tool very easy to use and easy to understand. I do not come from a patent background, but the tool didn't make me realize that. Though there are 4 workflow processes defined, but internally I used them according to the process I had in my organization. My manager too loved it when I showed the tool to him and we may eventually adopt it companywide (though we aren't that big a number). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only thing that I would want additionally, for now, is separate admin and manager roles. Though right now I can restrict assigning anyone a manager, having these 2 roles distinct from each other would definitely make it an even more useful tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
