## TinyMCE Reviews
  ### 1. A reliable WYSIWYG for React/Node stacks with customization options, but it takes patience.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pardeep J. | Software Engineer, Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2026

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

TinyMCE has been our go-to for rich text editing because of the number of internal admin dashboards, SaaS platforms, and custom CMS that we, as a software engineering team, develop and maintain. The biggest reason we value TinyMCE is because of the official @tinymce/tinymce-react wrapper. Because of this, we save a lot of engineering hours, and drop @tinymce/tinymce-react into our frontend and don't need to build a custom text editor that would otherwise require frameworks like Slate or Draft.js. TinyMCE also enables more complex text editing. Here, the easy-to-use and reliable TinyMCE editor APIs means that we can automate function like auto-save and structure our content to avoid having our internal APIs receive unvalidated content. TinyMCE is also great for a custom workflow and the integration of custom content that we receive from a text-editable backend. The unvalidated content, which is also received from a backend, is not relic, so the content of the PostgreSQL database can also be unvalidated and it will be unvalidated without issues. I also like the easy-to-use editor APIs and the flexibility in customer content.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

The software editor has many features which show well developed engineering. Though I am sure there are some other desirable engineering features, I am having some problems with the software editor. Most annoying to the engineering community is the steep learning curve because of the complexity. Because there are no standard plugins to help with extensions, developers are left to create and implement features through API calls and by using the API.

Continuous problems with styling and maintenance. The backend which is the TinyMCE iFrame, in order to be in agreement with the front end of the React app, occasionally may need some CSS plugins. Because of the continuous need to structure the editor to fit the processes of various administrative panels, it has a tendency to become quite a complex problem.

There may be some performance problems due to the editor being unable to load HTML blocks with high resolution images. Resolving plugin conflicts also takes quite a good deal of time. With the right configurations, the editor, in layout, is quite responsive and caters to most if not all mobile layouts. The closed source editor has a lot of features compared to the open source editor, PowerPaste included, but they are both paid plugins and add to the cost of the SaaS products.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TinyMCE is the link between our technical system and our non-technical content systems. Before TinyMCE we were often needing to resolve support tickets missing content, because blog posts would publish without the necessary HTML. Our content editors were unhappy about printable publications because of the poor-quality HTML.

TinyMCE is great for content editing because of their support for content sanitization, browser compatibility and formatting clean up. Our marketing and operations teams have their content editing empowering them to format product descriptions, create build-email templates, and publish content in other languages.

Custom editor logics need the high investment of engineering resources to maintain. After investing more time and resources to publish content and maintain the structured data HTML, we’ve been able to publish the necessary content quickly and maintain the HTML content and structured data. Because of TinyMCE, our content workflows have reached incredible speeds. Our focus isn’t just content creation, but also to create content collaboration, streamlined publication and structured content system maintenance.

**Official Response from Brad Lawless:**

> Thank you for this detailed and thoughtful review — this is exactly the kind of feedback that helps us understand how engineering teams are using TinyMCE in production, and we genuinely appreciate the time you took to write it.

It's great to hear that the @tinymce/tinymce-react wrapper has saved your team meaningful engineering hours, and that TinyMCE has replaced a stack of support tickets with reliable HTML output across your content workflows.

We also hear your criticisms. The learning curve around plugin architecture, CSS isolation within the iframe, plugin conflicts, and performance with high-resolution HTML blocks are all friction points we hear from engineering teams — as is the cost impact of paid plugins in multi-product SaaS environments.

We're always working to improve the product and make it the best solution on all fronts for your needs, and feedback like this helps. Thanks again for the honest breakdown.

  ### 2. Easy to Integrate, Highly Customizable Rich Text Editing with TinyMCE

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarthak B. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2026

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

TinyMCE is easy to integrate, highly customizable, and provides a smooth rich text editing experience. Its wide range of plugins and reliable formatting make it very convenient for building professional editors.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

One downside of TinyMCE is that some advanced features require paid plugins, which can increase costs for smaller projects. Also, deep customization sometimes needs extra configuration and documentation lookup. Performance can feel slightly heavy when loading multiple editors on the same page.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TinyMCE helps us provide a rich text editing experience for users without building an editor from scratch. It simplifies content formatting, image insertion, and structured content creation. This saves development time and ensures consistent formatting across the application.

**Official Response from Brad Lawless:**

> Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Sarthak! We are always happy to hear real-world examples of how devs can use our plugin architecture to absorb complexity and accelerate their overall app development timelines.

We released a new AI feature this week (TinyMCE AI) that brings conversational AI chat, inline quick actions, and an AI Review mode to the editor in an easily managed plugin that requires minimal configuration compared to building a similar solution in-house.

  ### 3. A powerful and customizable editor that feels great to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** SHRUTI M. | Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2025

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

It’s extremely customizable and feels like working with a real-world processor. The documentation is excellent, and the platform itself is stable, mature, and widely supported.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

TinyMCE can feel heavy and more complex than it needs to be to configure, especially when several important features are locked behind paid plans. In my experience, its collaboration tools also feel a step behind more modern alternatives, which makes it harder to rely on for real-time teamwork.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TinyMCE gives us an easy, consistent way to create and edit content, without needing any technical skills. It keeps the process straightforward and helps us work efficiently when updating content.

**Official Response from Brad Lawless:**

> Thanks for the updated review, Shruti! Our documentation team will be happy to hear you find the documentation so useful.

We're working this year on improving the developer experience to make the editor easier to configure as well as enhancements to our collaboration features.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on those once they debut.

  ### 4. Intuitive Editor with Some Plugin Hurdles

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lê Phương T. | Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2025

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

I love using TinyMCE because it solves the problem of content formatting for non-technical users. With TinyMCE, our content editors can now easily create well-formatted content without needing to touch raw HTML or deal with user-unfriendly and cumbersome editors. The feature I like most about TinyMCE is its intuitive and user-friendly interface. Even for those without any technical background, it allows our content editors to effortlessly format text, insert images, and embed media. This means anyone on our team can produce clean, consistent content without worrying about breaking page layouts, drastically reducing the time spent correcting formatting issues. This efficiency helps in readying content for publishing faster. Furthermore, with TinyMCE, multiple team members can edit content with confidence, knowing that the editor maintains consistency. The initial setup was straightforward and well-documented, with clear instructions for embedding the editor into our CMS, configuring the toolbar, and enabling basic plugins. The seamless use with marketing automation platforms allows us to format email content and landing pages that sync directly to our system, making our workflow more integrated. Moreover, the reason we switched to TinyMCE from our previous editor was due to TinyMCE's support for images, tables, embedded media, and its advanced styling options, which were not available before. Overall, I appreciate how TinyMCE significantly enhances our ability to create rich, professional content.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

First, some plugins require additional setup or coding knowledge, which can be challenging for non-developers. This complexity might deter users without a technical background from fully utilizing the capabilities of TinyMCE. Secondly, editing very long articles or pages with lots of images can occasionally feel slightly slower, depending on the browser and system resources. This performance lag can interrupt workflow and reduce efficiency, particularly for content-heavy CMS users.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use TinyMCE to enable non-technical users to format content consistently, reducing errors and manual HTML handling. Its user-friendly interface speeds up editing, allows multiple users to confidently collaborate, and handles content creation for CMS and marketing platforms efficiently.

**Official Response from Brad Lawless:**

> Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful review. We always love hearing about how TinyMCE helps our customers provide advanced editing functionality to their users with a minimum of implementation complexity.

We appreciate your feedback on plugin setup and the performance of very long, image-heavy pages. Simplifying configuration and improving speed for content-dense use cases are areas we continue to invest in.

Thanks again for choosing TinyMCE and for being part of our community.

  ### 5. Highly Customizable Editor with Ease of Use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** KAMAL K. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2025

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

I find TinyMCE to be an exceptionally flexible and customizable editor, which perfectly suits my needs as a software developer dealing with complex client requirements. TinyMCE's rich feature set, allowing for the complete saving of HTML content and viewing it in both source code and final preview, is incredibly useful. I appreciate the comprehensive documentation, which makes it very easy to understand the TinyMCE editor and its features, simplifying the initial setup process. Its customizable nature allows me to adapt it efficiently for various text modifications, unlike other editors that become complicated. Due to these attributes, I am highly likely to recommend TinyMCE, giving it a score of 10.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

For some of TinyMCE's advanced features, it becomes complicated to use. Additionally, there are issues with license restrictions which can be limiting. Formatting documents within the editor sometimes presents challenges, which can be frustrating.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use TinyMCE for its flexibility and customization, which simplifies complex text requirements. Its rich features and comprehensive documentation make it easy to implement and use, improving my workflow.

**Official Response from Brad Lawless:**

> Thanks you for the glowing recommendation! Hearing that TinyMCE fits smoothly into your workflow truly makes our day. We designed it to make meeting complex requirements as simple as it can be, and our technical writers help ensure every bit of the code is documented well.

We very much appreciate your notes on advanced features and formatting quirks; feedback like yours helps us keep improving.

Thank you so much for choosing TinyMCE and taking the time to share your experience.

  ### 6. Rich Features, Easy Setup, But Pricey Add-Ons

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos Osvaldo C. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2025

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

I use TinyMCE in multiple scenarios where I need rich text components, such as a Blog Post page. TinyMCE offers a multitude of features out of the box, which significantly speeds up the development process. Features like tables, formatting, and the ability to work with images are incredibly valuable as they address client requests for complex functionalities easily. The solutions provided by TinyMCE are often very clean and simple, which is something my clients greatly appreciate due to the excellent user experience the library provides. Moreover, getting started quickly for rich text needs is possible with TinyMCE because of its detailed and well-structured documentation, especially for libraries like ReactJS. This makes the initial setup extremely easy and efficient.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

While the core TinyMCE editor is open source, many advanced features require a paid version. In several cases, clients are unwilling to pay for these additional features. This pricing structure limits access to the complete functionality, impacting the ability to fully utilize TinyMCE's offerings. It would be more appealing if the essential plan were less expensive, making it more accessible to a broader range of users.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use TinyMCE for rich text components like Blog Post pages. Its features, such as tables, formatting, and images, speed up development and satisfy client requests with clean and simple solutions.

**Official Response from Brad Lawless:**

> Thank you for sharing your feedback, Carlos!

It's always great to hear how TinyMCE’s out-of-the-box features, clean UX, and clear documentation have helped streamline your development work. We hear you on premium features requiring a paid plan, and we’re continually reviewing our packaging to ensure it meets the needs of a wide range of users.

We appreciate your perspective and your trust in TinyMCE.

  ### 7. Very helpful in web to add view like a MS Word.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Saurav P. | TIER-3 Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2025

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

This product I use in a React.js application for admin so admin can set any type of font format so on user side we look the same as the admin set, when we set first so we set statically but now using this we add as dynamically so all the control is on admin side so they change than display at every platform.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

Add the tools according to the client's requirement, so some time this is bit of header to add custom tool.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a developer, this solves my big problem when my client needs to change any text with their style, so using this, they can do it easily. I don't need to push and change my code on the server, so this is good because of the label change, we don't need to stop the server.

**Official Response from Brad Lawless:**

> Thanks for the review! I’m glad TinyMCE gives your admin team the flexibility to style content dynamically without redeploying code. And thank you for the thoughts on custom tools. Your feedback helps us keep improving.

  ### 8. Dependable and Time-Saving Editor with Seamless Integration

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Girish S. | Software Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2025

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

TinyMCE has been really dependable in my projects. It integrates smoothly with Angular and .NET Core, and honestly saves me a lot of time.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

Overall TinyMCE works really well, but a few things could be better. like Some useful plugins are locked behind the paid version, and the initial setup can feel a bit overwhelming with so many configuration options. But once it’s set up, it runs smoothly.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TinyMCE helps me handle all the rich-text and formatting needs in my projects without having to build anything from scratch. It lets users create clean, structured content easily, which saves me a lot of development time and reduces UI issues. Overall, it keeps my workflow smoother and my features more reliable.

**Official Response from Brad Lawless:**

> Hi Girish!

We really appreciate the feedback! Glad to hear that TinyMCE is working out so well as a core piece of your tech stack.

You might be interested to hear that next year we plan to introduce a simplified way to demo features and set them up initially. Hopefully this will help reduce some of that overwhelm the next time you setup an editor instance.

It’s encouraging to know that once everything’s configured, the editor does its job quietly and consistently.

Thanks for being a member of the TinyMCE community!

  ### 9. Best in the Market

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2025

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

I like TinyMCE because it is very smooth and reliable. The writing experience is clean and my users love how easy it is to format their blogs without touching any code.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

As major I don't dislike but some of the advanced features are locked behind the paid plan, which can be tough for small teams like us.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For our team and users, TinyMCE editor makes it easy to let users write and format content without breaking anything. Before TinyMCE we had to deal with messy metal HTML from the users. We tried to build our own editor but it was very tough to build. So we optfor TinyMCE editor. Now, users can just write blogs smoothly with headings, images and everything looks clean on the front end.

**Official Response from Brad Lawless:**

> Thanks for the review! Happy to hear that TinyMCE is saving you time and frustration while giving your users a solid editing experience.

  ### 10. TinyMCE is an advanced editor that simplifies content creation across various platforms.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anirudh H. | Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2025

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

TinyMCE offers an impressive range of features that make it stand out. It provides developers with a highly customizable rich text editor that can be easily integrated into different platforms, with over 50 plugins and 100+ customization options29. The editor is incredibly flexible, allowing developers to control specific aspects of HTML markup and create tailored editing experiences for different user groups1.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

I have noted that TinyMCE can generate less-than-ideal HTML code, and it may be becoming slightly outdated as technology advances

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TinyMCE significantly reduces development overhead by providing a plug-and-play rich text editor. It simplifies the implementation of advanced text editing features, saving time and resources that would otherwise be spent building a custom editor from scratch. It also improves the consistency of user-generated content across applications.

**Official Response from Brad Lawless:**

> Thank you for the kind words, Anirudh. We appreciate the feedback and would welcome any ideas you have for how we could improve both the developer and user experience. Please check out our public roadmap and submit any ideas you'd like us to consider.

  ### 11. Unmatched Customisation Options for Editors

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2026

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

What I like most about tinmce is that the editor offers a wide range of customisation options.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

One aspect I dislike about TinyMCE is that its pricing is too steep for smaller organizations.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Among the many rich text editors available, this one stands out as one of the best. I find it very easy to create custom plugins and integrate them into my editor.

**Official Response from Brad Lawless:**

> Thanks so much for the feedback! I'm happy to hear that our customization options fit well with your editor needs. We also appreciate your perspective on our pricing models. We're continually evaluating how we bring TinyMCE to our customers, and I'll relay your thoughts to our product team.

  ### 12. TinyMCE: Still Batting 1000

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh L. | Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2025

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

I began using TinyMCE with WordPress almost 20 years ago. It is extremely versatile and very customizable. New buttons are easy to program; and even easier to include in the UI. It is fast, accurate and very efficient. Community and paid addons exist; and the use-cases are endless. I have used a lighter version in many projects since I was first introduced to TinyMCE.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

The UI/UX feels a little outdated to me. I don't have a recommendation... but maybe I'd just like to see something new with the UI.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Wordpress uses the TinyMCE editor. When I was first introduced to WordPress 20 years ago, I was not pleased with the basic use of the editor. TinyMCE had so much potential; but WordPress limited that power so it would fit with their user base. Using the hooks and filters provided by both WordPress and TinyMCE; I was able to unlock all that power and allow users of the plugin to customize the editor to their preferences.

**Official Response from Brad Lawless:**

> Thanks for the kind words, Josh!

We're always looking for ways to improve the developer and end-user experience with the editor. Feedback from long-time users like yourself is integral to this process. Feel free to submit future ideas on our public roadmap.

  ### 13. Effortless Integration and Customization, Lightweight WYSIWYG Editor.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mahek K. | Software Developer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2025

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

I love its easy integartion and easy implementation . Its is light weight editor with lot of customization with plugins . Also Customization is straight forward.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

Image upload handling needs extra backend setup.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For getting data from the user in the form of WYSIWYG form to store in my backend and use that to show the user.

**Official Response from Brad Lawless:**

> Thank you so much for sharing your experience developing with TinyMCE.

We’re glad to hear that the lightweight design, straightforward integration, and flexible plugin customization have been helpful in your workflow.

While handling image uploads does involve some backend configuration for security and storage, we’re always looking for ways to make that process smoother. Thanks again for choosing TinyMCE and sharing your feedback.

  ### 14. TinyMCE is a powerful, versatile tool for content creation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Qing G. | Sr. Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2025

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

User-Friendly Interface: TinyMCE provides a simple and intuitive interface for creating and editing content.
Customization Options: The platform offers a wide range of customization options to tailor the editor to specific needs. We have more than 10 plugins installed
Rich Features: TinyMCE includes a variety of features such as spell check, image insertion, and table creation, enhancing the editing experience.
Good Customer Support: The tickets we opened with the support team get attentions right away

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

Limited Free Version: The free version of TinyMCE has limited features compared to the paid version, which may be restrictive for some users. We are using the paid version.
Pricing Model: It seems it becomes more expensive.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have more than 100 reporters who are using the tinyMCE to create and edit the content every day. All of our online publication content is based on these content

**Official Response from Brad Lawless:**

> We appreciate the review! We're happy TinyMCE has worked so well for enhancing the editing experience for your users. You can check out our upcoming features, or suggest new ones, on our public roadmap.

Thanks for being part of our community!

  ### 15. Great software, difficult commercial agreements for small to mid sized development firms

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rob W. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2025

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

The software is great; it's robust, fast, easy to integrate, and provides a rich set of APIs and configuration options. Having worked with a number of visual editor / rich text editing platforms, I can reliably report that TinyMCE is a candidate for "best in class" in terms of features, ease of use, ease of development/integration, and number of features.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

Support for medium and smaller sized companies on the Enterprise subscription platform is commercially difficult. The company does not appear to be mindful of the challenges faced by its customers in this space, rather it focuses on significant annual subscription price hikes without any consideration or leeway for customer feedback. Prices increases compound significantly every year, whether or not subscription levels increase.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Powerful visual WYSIWYG editing for an enterprise class CMS/DXP platform.

**Official Response from Brad Lawless:**

> Thank you for your thoughtful feedback, Rob. We’re glad to hear you consider TinyMCE best in class for features and ease of use.

We understand your concerns about pricing for small and mid-sized firms. Our goal is to provide a scalable, enterprise-ready editor, and while pricing adjustments help us continually improve, we recognize they can be challenging. Your feedback is valuable, and we’ll take it into account as we refine our offerings in the future.

  ### 16. Useful Library to Use In Our SaaS Application

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gaurav H. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2025

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

The best thing about TinyMCE is that it is a feature rich library with reasonable pricing model. We started using Quill which is an open source library. But then ran into the usual feature limitations and support issues that one faces using open source software. TinyMCE had a free plan that allowed us to get going and get familiarized with the platform and as the usage went up, we found it to be quite useful for our platform needs.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

There is not much to dislike. I know it is highly customizable. And the onus is on us and our product teams to make the best use of the functionality available to us.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using TinyMCE to support document creation and editing functionality in our platform.

**Official Response from Brad Lawless:**

> Thanks for sharing your positive experience with us!

We're glad TinyMCE gave a better-suited alternative for your needs over purely open-source options.

If your team wants to dive deeper into customization or advanced features, we’re here to help!

  ### 17. Dangerous pricing model that lead to our bill being 13 times higher than the plan we were on.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Philip M. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2024

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

Not much; it did a basic job. There are now free alternatives.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

Their pricing is incredibly misleading. We were on a lower-tier plan and were paying a small amount. When we breached the excess limits, they kept charging the excess fees rather than moving us on to a higher tier. This added over $843 in one month when we were on, I think, the $67. If we had moved to the higher tier, it would have cost us $255.

The only thing that is worse than their pricing is their customer service. They were very prompt in telling us that if we were willing to change plans and pay an extra $450, they would move us to the higher plan.

Remember, this is software, not a face-to-face service or a physical product.

All this, for a commodity product where there are free alternatives.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is not benefiting us anymore. We moved.

**Official Response from Brad Lawless:**

> Hi Philip,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with TinyMCE. We're truly sorry to hear that your experience with our pricing model and support team did not meet your expectations. Feedback like yours is invaluable in helping us improve.

We understand how frustrating unexpected charges can be, especially for small businesses. Our pricing model is designed to offer flexibility, ensuring that customers only pay for the resources they use. To prevent surprises, we proactively send notifications as users approach their limits and offer plan options that better align with usage patterns. While we follow this process with every customer, we recognize that it may not have felt clear or sufficient in your case.

I understand that the accommodation for your situation offered by our customer service team, which aimed to balance reducing the immediate impact of overage fees with transitioning to a more suitable plan, was not the solution you were hoping for. We regret the disappointment this may have caused.

Our team is always here to assist with questions or concerns about usage, billing, or finding the best plan. We sincerely hope to earn back your trust in the future and welcome any further discussion to address your concerns.

The TinyMCE Team

  ### 18. Long time user, would love to see them evolve

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joel V. | Chief Technology Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2025

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

It's been a great tool, especially the self hosted editing, to just get an editor in there. As we moved to the Pro version, we were able to open up some great features, like power-paste and AI.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

No multi-user support through something like yjs. The licensing model is egregious with the "loads" happening every time the component re-renders.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Giving our users a rich text editor.

**Official Response from Brad Lawless:**

> Thanks for the feedback, Joel!

We have some collaborative editing and approval features coming to the editor later this year that should help your need for more multi-user support. Consider checking out our Enterprise plans with a member of our sales team. These have custom editor load limits and additional ways to configure usage and pricing.

Thanks so much for being a member of our community.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

  ### 30. Extremely opaque pricing - beware !

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maxime D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2023

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

The product is correct but is a commodity.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

tl;dr: We had two pricing issues with TinyMCE. They think they could charge you anything because you already integrated their product. Don't make the mistake of integrating their product in the first place. Use a competitor with a transparent pricing.

We integrated their WISIWYG product into our product in 2020 after a benchmark performed by engineers.
The price were correct (360$ per year) for our really small needs.
Then we wanted to expand the use of their product but we had to go an Enterprise plan and the pricing was completely crazy. They were thinking we could pay anything because we already integrated but we finally made the effort to switch to another solution for our second need.
We kept Tiny for our really small need.
Then we experienced a second price issue. Our credit card was renewed early and we miss notifications of failure to charge (they did send the kind of automatic emails that goes to spam to notify us) and they cancelled our plan. We were aware of cancellation by having an error message on our product.

In order to continue using the same level of service as before, we had to re-subscribe and pay a 433% increase.

Even though the issue has been escalated, they didn't try to find an alternative solution.

I would not recommend Tiny.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They offer a decent WISIWYG, like many competitors. It's a commodity.

**Official Response from Holly Waits:**

> As a new member of the leadership team at TinyMCE, I want to apologize for not responding to your post earlier. I'm sorry to hear about your negative experience with our pricing, and I wish we'd had the opportunity to resolve it sooner. Best of luck with your product, and I hope you've found a solution that works for you and your team.

  ### 31. Super easy to integrate and start using

Helping to implement a better content creation admin at a very low development cost.

**Official Response from Holly Waits:**

> Thanks for your feedback, Walt!

Easy to implement and very reliable for our users. It's simple, and the learning curve is speedy. Also, enjoy a lot the several plugins and tools they have. With a few clicks and a few pasted codes, We put in our production environment this simple solution.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

Almost nothing is very intuitive to implement. Until now, I haven't found any issue with stopping working with it. My suggestion will be more integration with tools like React framework.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a lot (about three or four by form page) of text fields in our online form that requires a text editor that not to take a lot of time to download at client web browsers. Also, it did not take much time to implement and integrate this tool into our code.

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2023

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

From not knowing about TinyMCE's existence to deploying it into production took 2 days. This included customizations that allowed template documents with smart fields to be generated.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

Some detailed level of documentation could perhaps be improved, for instance what type of font families come standard with the editor and which ones need to be added through plugins. Also, include more comprehensive React documentation.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allow's users to generate text on the frontend which then passes an accurate HTML representation of that text to the server for the generation of template documents. Customizations such as the dragging and dropping of smart fields into the editor is easily achieved.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

For the website projects I've used this software, it has served the purpose. I've even received quick support from the customer care. Which in the case of such softwares, usually tends to be slower.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's a rich editor that makes it easy even for the less tech enabled people at work to create rich content. Works great for blogs, wikis, bios, etc. which is an integral part of every digital project.

ease of enhancing and augmenting the menu system, the system of callbacks is very intuitive, the ability to attach own CSS files is absolutely superb

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We utilize Tiny for our report writer. Users can create reports in a WYSIWYG setting, which is priceless. Our product allows to inject data references from various sources, and create complex rules around such inclusions. Overall, an excellent product and 100% fit for our needs

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2022

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

We were looking for a solution to power elements within our CMS, After considering (briefly) building our own, it was suggested we re-look at TinyMCE. It has come a LONG way from when I first was introduced to it years ago.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

Some areas of documentation could possibly be improved, ie references to customizing the initialization of the editor to not strip certain HTML tags from source code

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed an easy-to-use WYSIWYG editor for our custom-built CMS solution. This is the perfect solution, if our user is capable of using Word, they can use our CMS

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

Some of the design elements are tough to customise or fit in, in some extreme cases.

We were using an alternative editor, but it was cumbersome to implement, non-compliant in output HTML, and have found huge improvements in customer satisfaction.

**Official Response from John Rau:**

> Thanks for your feedback, Michael! We are continuously looking to improve TinyMCE, so your input about design customizability is very helpful.

  ### 48. TineMCE is one of the best rich-text editors you can use in React apps.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2022

**What do you like best about TinyMCE?**

TinyMCE comes with many plugins that provide most of the functionality one can wish for. If there is something that is not covered by the given plugins, then creating a plugin of your own is not too complicated. The documentation is clear and the support team is quick in answering any question.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

TinyMCE is a comparatively complex component. Our software itself is quite complex and creates difficult scenarios for TinyMCE's UI. On rare occasions, you might end up with a hard-to-trace error. However, this is nothing specific to TinyMCE.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using TinyMCE for anything from comments to writing articles. It is versatile enough to cater to the needs of both extremes. It allows us to provide a word-processor-like experience with just a brief setup.

**What do you dislike about TinyMCE?**

It was a little tricky when I tried the file browser, but in the end, I figured it out.

**What problems is TinyMCE solving and how is that benefiting you?**
