What do you like best about TIMi?

It seems to me that the tool is very versatile for using and learning to create prediction models with both Python and RStudio. The best part is that the parameterization is very simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Not applicable. It seems to me that the tool is very versatile to use and learn how to create prediction models with both Python and RStudio. The best part is that the parameterization is very simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Daniel Soto Zeevaert of TIMi

Thank you for the evaluation. RStudio is another development tool in R, which can be downloaded for free, and allows the development and execution of code in R. I imagine you are referring to the predictive analysis nodes based on R? In this case, you will like the update coming at the end of this month and it will include several surprises in those nodes!

What do you like best about TIMi?

I am surprised by the processing capacity of the tool and the ease of developing loading processes using different volumes of information. I consider that it has great potential and now I am testing Timi Modeler to be able to migrate my use cases to this tool Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TIMi?

I don't particularly dislike anything, as an opportunity for improvement I would think that suddenly the support part in the forums for some specific or casuistic queries, but nothing serious Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Cobot it CTO : An amazing all in one ETL solution !"
5/5
What do you like best about TIMi?

Intuitiveness : By far the most intuitive solution have been able to test

Interoperability : Everything you need to connect with is native and ready to use. Something missing ? create your own transformation block in javascript, python or whatever code you like.

Speed : Process millions of records in sec, it's just incredible how fast you get your result

Support documentation : The contextual documentation provides very detailed step by step tutos and examples

You're stuck : The support team is really smart, customer oriented and reactive Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TIMi?

Nothing that I've been able to spot at this time. I have to say that TIMi solution is really stable and mature. We've spent days to review/analyze the ETL state of art. We quickly ended up picking TIMi which turned out being a good fit for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Anatella, a tool for large amounts of information."
5/5
What do you like best about TIMi?

A tool that saves a lot of time when working with large amounts of information, a pleasant experience when working with ETL. Initially, tasks that took days to complete were reduced to minutes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TIMi?

The tool, when not updated, generates errors in the review of certain scripts, and the update process takes an excessively long period. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"High-performant ETL and Data Analytics application complemented with very informative model reports"
4.5/5
What do you like best about TIMi?

Both Anatella (ETL) and Timi Modeler process large amounts of data remarkably faster than many competitors while contemporary using little memory.

Timi Modeler is very easy to use for predictive modeling thanks to: (i) straightforward interface for model setup, training, and testing on new data; (ii) automatic generation of useful reports to evaluate the quality of the fitted model (such as variable impact on target, variable importance in predicting the target, ROC, AUC, etc.)

Anatella processes data very fast and easily integrates with other languages such as R or Python. It also provides a unique feature I haven't seen elsewhere: record-by-record debugging of variable calculations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TIMi?

Anatella's look & feel is a little old-flavoured. Some relatively common functionalities I would expect from an ETL tool are not (yet?) implemented, such as copy & paste of a subset of the ETL process and adjusting the font size of the interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"TIMi is second to NONE in Big Data/Adv. Analytics/Data Science in bringing true value to business"
5/5
What do you like best about TIMi?

In my 22 years in the profession and ten working with TIMi, I could write a book about all the true value TIMi has brought to me & Volvo Cars compared to the competition, and I have used and tested many of them.

So if you don't have it accessible in your toolbox yet, download the free version of Community Anatella (ETL) at once and start to learn. You will thank me later.

- When I now think back on my years working with TIMi, it never disappointed me, and that is a statement by itself as you sooner or later always get in trouble in your project. TIMi support was there in a few short hours to assist. I even got custom functions/actions coded in a very short time frame. Try this with SAS, IBM, SAP or other giants. What was done in a few hours would take weeks unless you are paying at least 10x more for instant support. But let's get to the details and examples.

So what is it to like?

If you work with big data, Anatella will be your closest friend and companion to support your corporate tools, whatever you use. I worked with Teradata, Aster (big data tool), Spark, and more. So let's take a simple real-life example. We have hundreds of applications generating terabytes of data from production to marketing. To get any value out of your analysis, you will need to join tables, and your company bought a lot of in-house capacity with, say, IBM, in our case Teradata. Whatever you buy, it will not be enough. It will get filled quickly by consultants writing inefficient union and sortby statements in SQL running daily for different applications, both critical and non-critical. The point is it's breathtakingly expensive to buy a license for additional capacity. Unless your company is in the business of printing money, it can take months to years before additional capacity will get approved. So your queries will be waiting for days/weeks until you get the data you need. And if you have tables with gigabytes/terabytes of data to be joined, sorted and, filtered, you may be out of luck. It eats too much of the precious capacity that is needed for critical production apps. BUT select statements are quick and resource-efficient. You ask your IT to dump tables you need to your local machine with 4 to 8TB NVMe disc, and from there, you can process with Anatella to do the joining and ETL. It's very, very often faster in Anatella, but also, you have better control over the process of data transformation, so you know what you get. This is getting long. You get the point. This was specific to my company & my working situation, and your reality is different. Still, you will for sure get in a position where TIMi/Anatella is something you could not live without.

In short, the Pros:

- you can shuffle TBs; sometimes, the only way to prepare your ADS (analytical data set) is Anatella. Don't believe that if you have all the data in one place like SAP, you can do it all. The toolbox on big platforms is always limited

- robust, don't crash like rapid miner or python when your RAM gets filed. If you use R, you are toast, and Spark has its problems.

- flexible, most if not all database, cloud connection as well as R, Python integration where you can handle the heavy stuff with Anatella and pass small and ready ADS to R or Python. It works. I have done amazing things with this approach.

- surprisingly fast and memory-efficient. If you have a decent desktop or laptop, you can do a lot. Change to 8TB NVMe memory, and you can do it all.

- easy to follow step by step to track for errors. These are often more difficult to spot if you code in python or R.

- easy to present and demonstrate to management to show progress and what can be done as proof of concept or pilot before taking it to production (try to show python or SQL code in the meeting with higher management, and watch the reaction)

- build stand-alone tools/applications where data structure frequently changes, like surveys. Junior analysts can then maintain these applications.

- you can do a lot with the free community version. Think about all the efficiency you could get if you deployed Anatella to all analysts in the company. I did it for the 6-Sigma community as they sometimes use big data sets. 6-Sigma statistical toolbox, Minitab can't handle it.

About the TIMi Automated Modeling

- very fast on big data sets compared to other software, I have run 100's of models for each of my "difficult to solve" root cause analysis projects, where big money was at stake in warranty costs. In this kind of projects, you need to tweak your inputs a lot as the root causes are not necessarily the variables with the highest importance in your model, but the combination of the variables is the key. Python or R would just die on me if I used this amount of data. And also, many competitors would never finish the job because of time. TIMi core has been optimized for running this kind of task.

- In predictive analytics, TIMi has given me significantly better results if discrete variables were involved. I used TIMi as one of the many tools in my toolbox, as I have other favorites, and each of these tools has its place.

- One essential part of using TIMi for me is access to the experience of the TIMi support team. Since they have already done many impressive projects, they often have some hints to help on the way if needed. The reason that the software is so excellent is that these guys have their hands deep in real-life customer problems and know what is required in order to get the project done. What do you dislike about TIMi?

Maybe I would change the visual appearance of some modules, but TIMi is not here to win Miss World Contest but help you with your data-related projects. Sometimes I can miss some functions related to the ongoing project, but you can always add a custom box with your specialized code, and if I get stuck, TIMi support is quick to help. "Great experience for users with little experience in ETL tool"
4/5
What do you like best about TIMi?

What I like most about Timi is that it has several easy-to-use tools for users with little coding experience, but there are also integrations with programming languages for expert users. A large number of nodes makes it a versatile tool and applicable to different areas within a company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TIMi?

I don't like the fact that there is no support community to solve quick questions and move quickly through the learning curve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Frank Vanden Berghen of TIMi

Dear Reviewer,

Thanks for your kind review.

Concerning the access to the TIMi community forums: We recently upgraded the search-bar inside Anatella v2.77 (that is located inside the top-right corner of the Anatella Window). This improved search-bar now allows for a direct access to the TIMi community forums: Just type a few keyword and click the button named "Search on Community Forum", located just below your keywords. There, you'll find hundreds of questions (and answers! 😉) that were posted by our vibrant community members. There is no doubt that you'll quickly find answer to all your questions. You can also access directly our forum here: https://timi.eu/forum/ May I also suggest you to register on the forum to get even faster help?

In addition to our forum, we also offer an extensive off-line "User Guide" (press [F1] inside Anatella to open the guide) with more than 950 pages of explanations, charts and examples. Also, if you right-click a "box" inside the palette of boxes on the right of the Anatella Window, then the guide opens automatically at the right page and it shows you everything there is to know about this "box". There is also an on-line version of the same guide here: https://timi.eu/docs/anatella/ (although this one is not updated as often as the off-line guide).

...and if our forums and our guide are still not enough, you can always contact us directly using this web form: https://timi.eu/support/#contact-support We usually respond in less than a day.

I wish you all the best!
