## timextender Reviews
  ### 1. A very transparent data warehouse tool with low- and high code possibilities

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick v. | Business Intelligence Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2023

**What do you like best about timextender?**

Microsoft Fabric support has matured significantly: TimeXtender can now migrate existing solutions directly into Fabric Lakehouse without a rebuild, automatically generating the Spark notebooks from your existing visual, no-code data models (including things like Type 2 slowly changing dimensions). It also added Power BI Direct Lake Mode, so reports read straight from Delta tables for near real-time analytics without duplicating data or waiting on scheduled refreshes.
Big performance gains on file loading: the file-loading engine was rebuilt on streaming technology, so large CSV files that used to need ~20GB of RAM now process in about 25 minutes using roughly 100MB. Incremental loading was also extended to Parquet, XML, and JSON files, which cuts down repeated full loads.
New AI capabilities are rolling out: an MCP Server 2.0 lets tools like ChatGPT query your governed semantic models (with OAuth auth and support for Snowflake and Fabric alongside Azure SQL), and there's a newer "Xpilot Analytics" feature (currently in private preview) that lets users ask plain-language questions against governed semantic models rather than raw schemas, returning answers with visualizations and full SQL transparency.
The whole suite got consolidated into one modern, web-based platform: Data Integration, Data Quality, Data Enrichment, and Orchestration now live under a unified experience with dark mode, a redesigned navigation/portal, and Entra ID group support for access control — a real step up in day-to-day usability.
Data quality monitoring improved too: there are now dataset health scores that show quality trends across execution cycles, plus webhook notifications (including a Zapier integration) so quality exceptions can flow straight into tools like Jira instead of requiring someone to check a dashboard.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

Documentation and learning curve: several users describe TimeXtender's documentation and knowledge base as unstructured and hard to search, and note that without completing the vendor's formal training, getting comfortable with concepts like RSD-files and more advanced transformations takes real time. This makes onboarding new team members slower than it needs to be.
Multi-developer collaboration and deployment: teams working on the same project report friction with version control and "code promotion" — everything in a development environment tends to need to move to production together, so you can't easily cherry-pick just the changes you want to release. Synchronization issues also crop up when multiple developers work in a project at the same time.
Coding assistance is thin: the built-in SQL editor lacks intellisense/autocomplete, and calling stored procedures or working with more advanced custom SQL scenarios isn't always clearly documented, so power users sometimes fall back to writing raw SQL outside the tool.
Error handling and stability on large datasets: some users note inconsistent or unclear error reporting when working with large data volumes, plus occasional reliability issues with features like external executables, which can make troubleshooting slower than expected.
Pace of feature rollout and roadmap visibility: a few of the newest capabilities (like full Microsoft Fabric integration and the new AI-driven "Xpilot Analytics" feature) are still in public/private preview rather than fully generally available, and some users would like clearer visibility into what's coming next and when.

  ### 2. Powerful ETL Automation with Fast Incremental Loads and Strong Metadata Management

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sakshi B. | Senior Health Executive, Health, Wellness and Fitness, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2026

**What do you like best about timextender?**

TimeXtender provides a solid platform to automate data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes. It works well with popular data warehouses like Azure Synapse, Snowflake, and SQL Server, making it easier to manage data across different systems. The tool’s metadata system helps track changes and manage data versions, which keeps data consistent and reliable. I also appreciate how it handles incremental data loads and runs processes in parallel, which speeds up data refresh times and improves performance.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

TimeXtender can use a lot of memory and processing power, especially with large data sets, which sometimes slows down performance on less powerful machines. The user interface is practical but could be improved with better options to view and manage complex data flows, which would help when troubleshooting. Also, since it relies on network access, there’s no way to work offline or without an internet connection. Lastly, it takes some time and effort to learn how to use all the automation and metadata features effectively.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TimeXtender helps simplify the management of data pipelines by bringing data extraction, transformation, and storage into one platform. This reduces the need to use multiple tools and lowers the chance of mistakes. For me, it speeds up the process of building and updating data warehouses, making data available faster for reports and analysis. It also helps maintain good control over the data, which is important for meeting compliance and auditing needs.

  ### 3. TimeXtender’s Free Training Academy Makes Adoption Smooth and Efficient

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Akello J. | Junior Software Engineer, Computer Networking, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2026

**What do you like best about timextender?**

TimeXtender is one of the most effective tools I’ve worked with, and a big reason is how strongly it prioritizes user enablement through its training academy.

The platform includes structured, in-depth training at no cost, which gives users the foundation they need to confidently integrate databases, configure the system, and manage deployment. That kind of proactive support removes a lot of friction during implementation and helps drive better overall efficiency.

Being able to prepare thoroughly before you even start using the product makes adoption feel much smoother. Overall, the level of support—and the clear commitment to helping users succeed—is genuinely commendable and very much appreciated.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

Without completing the recommended training, it's deployment process can feel fairly complex and hard to navigate, and it isn’t always clear what the next step should be.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TimeXtender is a robust platform designed to integrate with multiple database systems, including Microsoft SQL Server and other related technologies. Because it supports such a wide range of integrations, the implementation process can sometimes feel complex, particularly in environments that depend on diverse data sources.

The platform also offers strong security measures, including encryption of sensitive information both within the system and while data is in transit. This helps ensure that critical business data remains protected throughout processing and transfer.

In addition, its automation capabilities can significantly reduce manual intervention in routine tasks. By streamlining data integration, management, and governance processes, TimeXtender can improve operational efficiency and make day-to-day workload management easier.

  ### 4. TimeXtender for Data Mining.. excellent

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2022

**What do you like best about timextender?**

Visualizations are still excellent. There seems to be better integration features.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

Still wish more online trainings! But processes are better to integrate.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allows us to take data from multiple sources and put them in 1, then make presentatoins via Tableau with that data.

**Official Response from Juan Jose Keena:**

> Thank you for your feedback. I wanted to make you aware that we have launched a brand new community portal as well as a new training track, you can find more resources in the link below.

  ### 5. Effortless Data Consistency and Automation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2025

**What do you like best about timextender?**

The platform makes it easy to maintain consistent, high-quality data across systems, and its automation features save significant time compared to manual data engineering. The lineage and documentation are clear, making governance much easier. Overall, it helps us ensure trust in our data while reducing operational overhead.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

One drawback is that maintaining larger projects can become complex, especially when many teams collaborate. Versioning, governance, and dependency management could be more streamlined to reduce administrative overhead.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TimeXtender helps us eliminate the risks and inefficiencies that come with business users maintaining critical data in Excel files. By providing a controlled environment where users can enter and maintain manual data, we ensure that this information is stored securely, validated properly, and integrated directly into our data warehouse.

This has significantly improved data quality and governance, reduced errors, and streamlined the flow of business-managed data into our analytics platform. Overall, it gives us a much more reliable and efficient way to combine manually entered data with our existing data models.

  ### 6. Real-Time Sync Across Devices and Apps

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samanya F. | Medical Doctor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2026

**What do you like best about timextender?**

I like its ability to update and sync all elements in real time across all your devices and third-party applications.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

I haven’t had any issues with this tool.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TimeXtender provides aggregated data from various services and protocols through a consistent and clearly defined API, helping us scale our tasks more efficiently.

  ### 7. 5 year experience with the product. Expert level knowledge.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2025

**What do you like best about timextender?**

Many features that makes the developers life easier. Once you learn it, it is easy to use. Easy to integrate data sources. Good overview of large scale data warehouse projects and has necessary tools to manage big solutions. Very good customer support that is helpful and quick to respond. Helpful online community. Lots of new development is happening with the product. Easy process to promote work from development to production, which makes it a very quick automated process.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

Hard to implement, need consultants to do it. Hard to work with more than 2-3 developers. There are limited safeguards for working with multiple developers and it is required by the team to have a good "way of working" to to avoid development conflicts.
The promoting work from development to production unfortunetaly requires everything in development to be pushed to prod. An improvement would be to be able to only promote selected work that is production ready.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The code automation, data warehouse and integration management speeds up development time for building a data warehouse. It also provides the tools needed to manage it.

  ### 8. Efficient data workflow solutions for teams

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Simonetta S. | Data operations manager, Individual & Family Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2025

**What do you like best about timextender?**

So far what I like the most of TimeXtender is the way is simplifies the data workflows with their drag and drop features. This really makes it easy to handle data tasks without much manual work. Automational capabilities make it possible to smoothly handle the repetitive process management freeing up some time for more exciting activities. In addition, it is capable of running on multiple data environments at the same time without any interruptions, which is a huge time saver and helps in smooth and uninterrupted operations on different platforms.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

TimeXtender offers few options for small changes in how it connects with different systems. The system works well most of the time but it becomes hard to modify settings exactly as needed. Specific requirement updates that need urgent handling get delayed because our system does not handle them with speed. Our work progress slows down when we encounter these fixed settings and we need more time to solve the problems.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TimeXtender has cut down on the time spent on data preparation. Especially, it helps us to automate data processes that used to take a lot of time. As a result, the office has become more efficient with team members no longer stuck in manual steps. Removing these needs tedious tasks lets everyone concentrate on defining work that does have an impact, improving overall productivity and significantly cutting project timelines in all projects.

  ### 9. An excellent Ingestion and DW tool, not without some flaws

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2025

**What do you like best about timextender?**

The end-to-end built in capabilities. From initial data ingestion, to transformation to presentation. Scheduling incremental loading of data, so much value in one application.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

Training and support. Initial online training and set up is good, and the XPilot AI tool is really good but you need time with the community. We have an in-house expert, but calling on this person a lot really slows down his own productivity. In the end, with such a multifaceted tool such at this...you need time and experience with it. With AI agents now, this should not be such an issue soon.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is our org's DW. We have many disparate systems and data silos. TX fetches all of it and has saved us money from purchasing ODBC connectors and stuff. We are able to ingest, load, transform and schedule refresh for any data model we need to build. We use Power BI a lot for reports and TX (following mostly Kimball) is end-to-end for our data model builds.

  ### 10. Solid product and easy to adapt

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2024

**What do you like best about timextender?**

Ease of use and the good and helpful support.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

Some features are hidden. I mean I have to search for it. By example if you want to disconnect a source from the ODX, you'll have to click on the ODX. Maybe it's easier to have this option (also) on the data source instead of the instance.
Some errors are not clear enough.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To extract data from a different kind of sources and transform it with less coding. TimeXtender also has some good features to load the data in the right order. As I said before its easy to use.
Data lineage is one of the greatest benefits which I experience. I have worked with a lot of ETL tools (like Microsoft SSIS, Matillion) and this is one of the benefits on which TimeXtender has a big lead.

  ### 11. TimeXtender support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food Production | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2025

**What do you like best about timextender?**

TimeXtender has a very approachable support desk. They reply quickly and are eager to think along.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

Timextender is developing continuously. When they introduce new features (like the TimeXtender Enhanced Connector) it is not always clear how to set it up or there are still small bugs.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a tool that automates data processing/cleaning/transferring. It makes it much more accessible for people to perform these tasks.

  ### 12. Versatile and organized data modelling and warehouse management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frans F. | Business Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2024

**What do you like best about timextender?**

Getting export data from the ERP system uniformly into the TimeXtender desktop app, then format, cleanse, filter, combine, homogenize and recalculate the data in each table, set relations between tables and build complex data models, export the finalized model to an endpoint such as Power BI for visualization. The structured approach, presentation in the desktop app and automated documentation allow for multiple developers to work on the same model. When the desktop app works as intended, it's a pleasure to work with.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

Since TimeXtender is under continuous development, bugs and errors popping up are also continuously being fixed, mostly by the users through the TimeXtender support community - who are very knowledgeable, responsive and helpful, but still this is annoying when it happens.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With TimeXtender, a complex data model was built based on data from all corners of a company-wide ERP system, as well as external data. This allows to analyze the business data in their mutual coherence, optimize business processes and make better substantiated decisions on sales, market selections, purchase strategy, production planning, etc etc.

  ### 13. TimeXtender is very helpfull for people starting with data warehouse management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Cosmetics | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2025

**What do you like best about timextender?**

when I started at my current role, I had no experience at all with data warehouse management and creating reports in Power BI. TimeXtender made it a lot easier and workable to manage and transform our data for reporting. Also customer support is really helpfull

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

Sometimes when working on custom queries, with the help of internet, It is not applicable in TimeXtender. I get it working on SQL management Studio, but not in TimeXtender. Also, the amount of information available on internet is limited in my opinion. Mainly the forums, in which peolpe share their problems and solutions.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Combining multiple datasources for use in a singel report. Also easily managing datawarehouse with limited know-how of this in general.

  ### 14. Exmon DM for BI

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kristján Eldur A. | Business Intelligence Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2024

**What do you like best about timextender?**

I use ExmonDM the most. What I like most is the idea of having all our homeless data in one place. I also like the featue that allows you to create SQL commands that run automatically when adding data or saving data.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

Sometimes it is a bit rigid, some errors appear and I don't even know what they mean.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It houses our homeless data. We also use it as a home for out budgeting and to deepen data.

  ### 15. Potent tool for building your DW

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tomas H. | Data Warehouse Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2024

**What do you like best about timextender?**

Ease of use and sure beats coding by hand by a mile. There are connectors to almost all the data sources you can think of. The customer service is excellent and the community is really active if you sould have any questions. There are guides and blogs on most topics and some really helpful videos on Youtube, though the frequency of new videos have dropped from weekly to about once a month.
There is free online training that covers most topics

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

Quite a steep learning curve regarding the use of RSD-files (for transforming and mapping data from an API).
Code transfers from like Dev to Test can only be done for a total project, not part of a project. If there are several people working on separate parts of a project, all development should be "transfer ready" when transfering the code and all parts needs to be deployed in the new environment, otherwise you will probably have load errors.
No coding help besides SQL highlighting inside "coding boxes" like if you are creating a custom view. If you are used to tools like Redgate SQL Prompt, you are probably better off doing all the coding on the side and then doing a copy-paste. The same goes for the Query Tool for cheking data from inside the development environment. The Query Tool is quite rudamentory and can only be used for some quick checks of the data.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TimeXtender is the heart of our BI solution and it significantly reduces our delivery time. We have about 300 different IT systens, not all of them are in our solution though, but adding data from a new system is really easy for the most part, if things are ok on the source system side.

  ### 16. Beter and easy way for BI and Datamanagment

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2024

**What do you like best about timextender?**

TimeXtender is a robust platform with excellent customer service and support, where help is readily available. This is a crucial aspect that every organization requires: swift interaction to address issues as they arise and help resolve them. With drag and drop functionality, numerous transformation mappings, and simplified data management and modeling, tasks become much easier. While improvements are continuously being made, any issues are promptly addressed and resolved.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

There's an excessive focus on cloud platforms and a constant stream of updates aimed at enhancing functionality. However, this also poses a drawback as users are required to conduct thorough checks with every update and essentially act as guinea pigs for all the changes made. I understand that in a complex environment like TimeXtender, with over 250 connections and drivers, updates are necessary. Nevertheless, I believe there's an overabundance of updates, making it seem as though the product is being developed by the users themselves.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have multiple external platforms with various data formatting capabilities, and the speed at which these platforms operate is having a positive impact. This allows us to model data and make it available at the semantic layer for different presentation layers, such as Power BI and SQL Reporting Services.

  ### 17. Speed and efficiency

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthieu M. | BI Consultant / Associate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2024

**What do you like best about timextender?**

- Quick to understand and use
- Very flexible on the ETL side: scripts, stored procedures, functions that you can easily integrate when you are ‘limited’ by the standard.
- Wide range of possible sources, especially with the addition of CData connectors
- Project from A to Z, integrated semantic layer editor

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

- Very limited editing of the SSAS tabular, often obliged to use tabular editor
- Sometimes questionable developments: version 20.X vs. more recent versions, cloud repository, pricing, etc.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

80% of the project in simple drag and drop
easy to implement and duplicate projects for other customers
can connect to all sources

  ### 18. Powerful tool to shorten time to market

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2024

**What do you like best about timextender?**

The licencing model and the rapidity to develop medium complex solutions. Ideal for Proof of Concepts.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

The tool is difficult to configure in case of complex BI requirements. Moreover it is difficult to find some good support by product partners. Most of the existing client cases are simple and for little to medium complex companies.
The dataquality is delegated to developers: no dataquality feature is ready-to-use, it shall be added as custom pre-processing or post-processing procedure.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allowed us to quikly do a POC and to implement rapidely the DWH solution. Then we struggled to define the correct ETL configuration for the long-term solution DWH, implementing complex historization requirements.
The tool allows for a quick reconfiguration and deploy in case of design errors or bugs.

  ### 19. TX Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food Production | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2024

**What do you like best about timextender?**

Ease of use. Easy to connect several data sources, especially after the implementation of the TX Rest connector. This enables users to set up API connections more easy than through the CDATA connector with the necessary RSD files. Although some improvements can still be made. The drag and drop interface easily allows for transformations with low-code/no code and easily integrates the incremental and history features when necessary in the datawarehouse. The customer support is easy to reach, responds quickly and helpfully. Furthermore, the integration of the Orchestration, orginally from Exmon, now allows for an integrated and holistic way of loading all data, from every datasource up to the final data visualization tooling. Next to that, TX now will keep the v20 version alive, which is a lifesaver for some of our clients that do not want their repository ending up somewhere in the cloud.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

The new (6xxx) version of TX hasn't been an improvement in all aspects of the new functionalities; some functionalities are lost. The ODX server and the fact that the repository is not available anymore, leads to loss of valuable information in case of connectivity issues and/or errors. The ability to simply load from ODX all the way up to semantic models in one simple execution package is less efficient, due to the data on demand functionality. We have had cases where loading a full ODX load and then the full datawarehouse was more efficient in terms of time than when using the data on demand functionality.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TX is not necessarily solving my problems, but those of clients. The holostic approach of TX is beneficial for clients since the tool allows for data connections, data transformations and loading data in semantic models which immediately pushes the datamodel in their BI tool. With little to no BI knowledge, our customers are able to load, transform and show data in their BI tools.

  ### 20. Time extender

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mental Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2024

**What do you like best about timextender?**

All the core DWH tasks are automated, logical set up of the layers.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

sometimes it behaves unexpected, some datasource connectors need manual labor when working with large datasets

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it solves a lot of coding when getting the data from the source to the dwh, it saves/ extends the time we have for other tasks

  ### 21. Excellent software to quickly set-up a data warehouse for small to medium businesses

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2024

**What do you like best about timextender?**

TimeXtender allows you to quickly set-up a data warehouse. It's relatively easy to extract data from simple sources and load them into your data warehouse. Building reports on top of data in your TimeXtender data warehouse is also easy to establish.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

Loading more complex sources into TimeXtender is a challenge. If you have an easy to use REST API it's not very difficult, but if you need to apply pagination for example it requires more technical knowledge. Another thing is the collaboration. Collaboration itself is fine, but it's sometimes difficult to develop small pieces of code. If I would start working on a table and the project would be pushed to another environment it will also take my changes. Branching would be nice.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TimeXtender is perfect for a data team that doesn't posses the required skills to write SQL code themselves. By using drag-and-drop features you can easily set-up a data warehouse without having to write any code. It's also very easy to release new features in the data warehouse and push them to the next environment for the business to test.

  ### 32. Good yet frustrating

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luuk H. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2023

**What do you like best about timextender?**

Timextender is a great piece of kit to do allot of your datamanagement. it works great whilst working on bigger projects that need loads of data processing. The basics are relatively easy to pick up and it allows for a great visual management of all of your datasources and transformative steps.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

While my experience is currently mostly in the legacy version of TimeXtender it seems that there's some creature comforts that wouldn't seem too hard to implement that are simply missing. Being able to copy and or do mass changes within a semantic model for instance would save loads of time. You cannot select multiple measures, so if you are looking to delete 40 measures you are in for a bit of a sit. Same with changing the formatting on 6 measures at a time because you realise you don't want that many decimals on all of your cards.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Converting big heaps of data into usable customer data that can be inserted into many outputs like AAS or anything like that. its better than trying to do it all in SQL.

**Official Response from Micah Horner:**

> Thank you for your review and for recognizing TimeXtender as a valuable tool in managing and processing large amounts of data.

Regarding your concerns with the legacy version of TimeXtender, we appreciate your suggestions for improving efficiency, particularly in the semantic model. Your feedback is crucial as it guides our efforts to enhance the user experience.

We're also excited to share that we've developed a new migration tool for those using a legacy version of TimeXtender. This tool simplifies the process of upgrading from TimeXtender version 20.10 to our latest cloud-enabled version. It's designed to make the migration of projects more straightforward and efficient, ensuring you can leverage the latest features and enhancements in our platform. You can learn more about this tool and how to use it here: https://support.timextender.com/upgrades-migration-130/migration-tool-upgrade-from-timextender-v20-10-to-the-latest-cloud-enabled-version-1150

Thank you again for your insights. They are invaluable in helping us improve and in ensuring TimeXtender continues to be a powerful tool for data management.

All the support team is very commited in helps to solve the problems.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

Sometimes the connections still a bit unstable.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy integration with many different data sources.

  ### 34. timextender is an easy-to-use tool in which you can clearly build and manage your information models

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jasper K. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2023

**What do you like best about timextender?**

The ease and speed with which you build a data warehouse and the overview of your product

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

You cant release you cannot properly promote a single table to your production environment, you can only promote your entire project at once.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In the hospital we have many issues and challenges, data-driven working can offer a solution to many of our challenges. This requires control information and data sets with uniform definitions. TimeXtender offers the possibility to turn our multitude of data sources into a clear and manageable whole.

  ### 35. Good for small business but difficult for lager businesses.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2023

**What do you like best about timextender?**

The work that timextender does for me is helpful. The underlying scripts that I do not have to write and the UI is pretty simple for new users the use. The datalineage is nice. So overall the drag and drop function is easy to use.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

The team development is not nearly perfect. The environment transfer is difficult to work with. Everything needs to be complete on DEV before transfering. Would be good to be able to transfer single objects over.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building modern datawarehouse and developing tabular cubes to connect to BI tools such as Power BI and Tableau. This solves my problem in efficiency and being able to integrate non technical clients into the project.

  ### 36. It's a great tool that enables you to work fast and structured.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel V. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2023

**What do you like best about timextender?**

Fast working, auto lineage, everything in one overview. Really fast looking things up

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

Lots of configuration that an ruin you data. You need to have in depth knowledge of what your doing in order to work with TX properly. Code could be better optimized. Loading times on SQL are not the best. Newer versions are buggy and have even more configurations (hidden behind option menus). The JET proposition is ruining the upgrade to TX

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fast working, fast finding tables or columns, easy management

  ### 37. Quick and effective

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Johnny Y. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2023

It's very easy to execute otherwise complex queries.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

The documentation regarding RSD customization is limited.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building a historic table when extracting data from API

  ### 38. TimeXtender

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Translation and Localization | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2023

**What do you like best about timextender?**

Simplicity, user friendly interface, easy to get started

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

I use a legacy version - some times buggy, does not handle large data amounts well, does not support co-working in the same project

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to set up and create a data warehouse. Benefits me by saving time, code, and lowers the skill threshold

  ### 39. TimeXtender review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2023

**What do you like best about timextender?**

For my company it's that we can train our consultant in this solution and the hand-over is really easy as in easy for new consultants to work in existing solutions.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

The ODX Server interface, how the ODX is independent when it comes to scheduling, filtering, and the table selection UI. Many small quick-fix things haven't been fixed for að long time (datatypes not available, partitioning with column store index, executing script action in simple mode, and more..) The multiple environment transfer is very unstable.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping us to deliver value quickly and to standardize solutions within our consultants, we are able to get consultants up to speed more quickly and to deliver value.

**Official Response from Micah Horner:**

> Thank you for sharing your insights on TimeXtender. It's great to hear that the solution facilitates easy training and handovers for your consultants, enhancing workflow efficiency.

We understand your concerns about the ODX Server interface and certain functionalities like scheduling, filtering, and table selection. Also, the issues you've highlighted regarding small quick-fix items and the stability of the multiple environment transfer are important points for us to address. We are committed to continuous improvement and value your feedback as it helps us identify areas for enhancement.

Your feedback is essential in our journey to optimize TimeXtender, and we thank you for taking the time to help us improve.

  ### 40. Good for smaller/middle organisations but too pricey

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Building Materials | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2022

**What do you like best about timextender?**

Easy to start with. They provide an easy to follow learn environment.

Drag-and-drop is good enough for most operations you want to do.

Support used to be very good and quick. Recently it seems they added a front office in India (?) that you need to get through first. It's much more hassle nowadays, though it used to be one of the main selling points.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

It should be a low code - no code environment, but you quickly get to the point where you need to be more technical. For example, you need to learn how to create RSD files for complex API requests.

No good way to organize your tables

No way to multi select and do an action. For a tool with a lot of drag-and-drop functionality it is REALLY frustrating not to be able to move/delete/... multiple fields at once.

Error log is not clear

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our ETL proces is done completely in TimeXtender

  ### 41. Overall, my experience with TimeXtender has been decent and it helps me keep my data very organized.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2022

**What do you like best about timextender?**

I like how it helps me keep my data clean and organized, and allows me to perform data transformations. I can easily create semantic models unique to each application I am building. I am also a huge fan of custom views, which gives me more control over my data. Overall, it's been a very useful tool for the organization.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

There are some downsides and limitations of using TimeXtender.
- It would be helpful to have the ability to link a Teams Spreadsheet as a data source if that is possible.
- The lookups are limited in that I can't pull all values that are looked up, and can only get one value.
- Incemental loads are difficult, since I need to clear out the ETL table, then do a full load

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TimeXtender is helping us solve the problem of synthesizing and organizing data from more than 30+ sources. It gives us the ability to perform aggregations and manipulations, which would be difficult otherwise.

  ### 42. Great tool to set up a data warehouse in an accessible way for everyone

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2022

**What do you like best about timextender?**

Easy way to get into data warehousing with little business intelligence knowledge. Even though you still require some technical expertise and some TimeXtender training to get started, but still fairly easy. Another great aspect is the built-in data lineage functionality. It's always clear where data comes from and where it is used.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

TimeXtender is a software tool that doesn't provide a lot of flexibility. The tool provides basic functionality, but you might be disappointed if you need something outside of the standard functionality. However, the TimeXtender team always strives to respond as fast as possible and think of a solution together with the customer. Even though they are trying, implementing new functionality is not always technically possible.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data lineage: We know where data is coming from and where it is used.
Release management: Deploy your project to other environments through the tool.
Lack of knowledge: TimeXtender is an easy tool to start using without having a lot of technical expertise.

**Official Response from Juan Jose Keena:**

> Thanks for your feedback. We appreciate the speed of innovation is something our customers demand and you'll see more agility coming up in the months and years to come as TimeXtender expand its capabilities!

  ### 43. Nice for automation - collaboration on the tool could be better

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2022

**What do you like best about timextender?**

-Quick transformations can be done quite easily using the Grahpical User Interface
-TimeXtender academy is nice for learning
-Out-of-the-box documentation
-Data lineage
-Environment management

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

-It has to be physically installed on a VM. i.e, no web interface
-Difficult to collaborate, i.e. work on the same table
-No partial transfer, either everything or nothing

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

-Being able to quickly import data from the data source
-Being able to store data on the Data Lake for its reusability
-Enhancing the time-to-market of the semantic layer for business users

  ### 44. TimeXtender is a great tool for companies looking for a Data Flow automation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** NICOLAS C. | Program manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2021

**What do you like best about timextender?**

I like the way it helps to build a data warehouse and Cubes. It is an excellent way to work, and I must say that developing a new dimension or measure is extremely fast with TimeXtender.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

- The complexity it brings on the background (in the database, four tables in the background for 1 table in TimeXtender)
- the difficulty with the opacity of treatments (processing of data that we cannot control)

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are basing all our BI on TimeXtender, from Datasource to OLAP cubes and Datawarehouse.
The main problem solved with timeXtender is that we have internalized our production of data warehouses. Before, we were doing it with External companies at a high cost.
now one person in my team is managing the data processes with TimeXtender

  ### 45. A tool with some great features, but a lot of room to grow

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2021

**What do you like best about timextender?**

•	Integration (built for) SQL server; execution speed, object visibles in SQL server
•	Overall GUI is easy to use and very informative
•	Manage large load of data easily
•	Integration with multiple data source is easy and complete

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

•	Transfer / deploy (multi-environment) concept is not intuitive and doesn't work very well with many developers.
•	Error messages (deploy or execute) are coming directly from SQL server and are very difficult to make sense.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are creating a modern data warehouse, integrating data from multiple sources (currently ~20 distinct sources) and multiple types of sources (SQL, Oracle, Excel, SharePoint, etc.). The data warehouse has enabled a comprehensive COVID-19 immunization dashboard to inform tactical and strategic decision-making.

**Official Response from Juan Jose Keena:**

> Hi there, Thank you so much for the time invested in reviewing TimeXtender! We wanted to be able to come back with some feedback regarding your comments about things you would like to see improved. Here is what our Product team came back with. We hope this is valuable, in any case, feel free to reach out if you need more information. Thanks!

*Transfer / deploy (multi-environment) concept is not intuitive and doesn't work very well with many developers.

"This is one of the areas that are undergoing much work this year so we hope that our next releases will be less confusing to your and help structure your work more efficiently with many developers."

* Error messages (deploy or execute) are coming directly from SQL server and are very difficult to make sense

We have tried to save you from the most obvious mistakes, but the SQL server will be the final judge of your work, and we are often unable to interpret the judgement of the underlying systems. Over the years, we have learned that, in most cases, direct reporting will also lead you to the correction of the problem.

  ### 46. Dedicated to demonstrating customer success in just two short days

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2021

**What do you like best about timextender?**

It is incredible that with TimeXtender and the support of their team, we are able to create end-to-end data warehouse solutions including a semantic reporting layer in just two days.

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

We couldn't use the product for a couple customers who required multiple operational data ingesation areas; however, from what I have heard that is a feature that is in the next major release.

**Recommendations to others considering timextender:**

Definitely sign-up for a pilot engagement if available, it really demonstrates how much can be accomplished in a short time with TimeXtender.

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There are several of course, but some of the more compeling are: the short time to turn around an business solution with an end-to-end data platform; the complete data lineage documenation; and the ability to future proof the solution, whether that means turn key modernization from an on-prem to Azure deployment or ensuring that your platform is using the latest Microsoft technologies and best practices in the cloud.

**Official Response from Juan Jose Keena:**

> Thank you so much for your review! You are absolutely right around the multiple operational data ingestion. It is coming later this year!

  ### 47. ETL tool that makes data extraction easy

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2021

**What do you like best about timextender?**

* Easy access to data sources and data extraction
* Build-in incremental loads
* Build-in history (SCD1 & SCS2) logic
* Possibility of writing your Views, SP in T-SQL
* Automating executions data flows
* Automating the "boring-stuff" like create table statements, creating data movement packages, setting up data pipelines

**What do you dislike about timextender?**

* Poor version control, no integration with GIT (Azure DevOps)
* Better support for multiple developer environment
* Too heavily focuses on the self-service capabilities, rather than supporting the professional Data Engineer

**Recommendations to others considering timextender:**

* Write all business logic T-SQL yourself in views and SPs
* Exploit the easy-to-use incremental load and SCD1 and SCD2 features

**What problems is timextender solving and how is that benefiting you?**

* Running an Enterprise Data Warehouse

**Official Response from Juan Jose Keena:**

> Thank you for stopping by. We truly appreciate your feedback. We have passed your comments to our product team so they can evaluate your suggestions. Here is the product's team feedback.

* Poor version control, no integration with GIT (Azure DevOps)

"We have version control that captures all changes and allows users to roll back to the previous project version. But we want to add more value by adding features that allow users to see change history at a granular level and document all relevant changes between versions of a project to create automated release documentation. We have not found an external representation of a project's content that provides a meaningful, human-readable format for exporting and displaying in code repositories like GitHub - so we have embedded the functionality into the product and soon into our portal."

* Better support for multiple developer environment

"Is a clear goal of the upcoming release to focus on bringing more separation to project support for asynchronous development and to bring more features like change history and version documentation to the market."

* Too heavily focuses on the self-service capabilities, rather than supporting the professional Data Engineer

"We are dedicated to simplifying and automating the main tasks of delivering data to end users. But we also see this as a way to free the professional engineer from trivial work and allow them to invest their skills and time in the high-value areas that make a difference."
