## TightVNC Reviews
  ### 1. free remote tool for internal connection

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2025

**What do you like best about TightVNC?**

product is free can use for remote support in internal network

**What do you dislike about TightVNC?**

lack of chat while supporting remote connection

**What problems is TightVNC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we use for remote desktop connection with in the internal network it helps in transferring files to the remote pc

  ### 2. Nice software for 2005, but a little outdated for 2018.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rick B. | General Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2018

**What do you like best about TightVNC?**

TightVNC is reasonably straightforward and runs in the background with absolutely no disturbance to the user. It is neatly buried in the taskbar and can be hovered over when the time comes that you need remote support. Being an older generation of software, it runs very light on resources and does not slow down any core processes within the operating system. Best of all, its FREE for personal and commercial use.

**What do you dislike about TightVNC?**

I don't like the how resource heavy TightVNC is over an internet/LAN connection. It is very difficult to work in a remote session when the mouse jumps around and there is a lot of lag. Compared to products like TeamViewer, TightVNC is a lot more resource intensive during an actual remote assistance session. The look and feel of the software is also outdated, plus the fact that the last update to the software was in April 2017, it seems to be a dying product?

**Recommendations to others considering TightVNC:**

I would recommend possibly trying other software on the market before using TightVNC. Yes, TightVNC may be free, but there is a reason that you pay a premium for a software like TeamViewer, things just work a whole lot better.

**What problems is TightVNC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The software does fulfill its purpose by providing remote assistance, and it does so with ease. Having the background process running on any PC makes it so much easier to give remote access on demand, especially to persons who don't necessarily understand the finer workings of their company-assigned computer.

  ### 3. Free remote desktop client that misses some nice-to-haves of its competitors

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Liam G. | Campus Tour Guide, Higher Education, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018

**What do you like best about TightVNC?**

It's free, lightweight and fast. It also is easy to setup if the computers you'd like to access are all available locally.

**What do you dislike about TightVNC?**

Security is nonexistent (passwords are sent over plain text). It also isn't suitable for computers that need to be accessed remotely and not through some sort encrypted tunnel. It also doesn't have computer management features that other, more robust clients have (think products from Citrix or even team viewer).

**Recommendations to others considering TightVNC:**

If you don't need strong encryption then it is extremely easy to use and setup.

**What problems is TightVNC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Free, lightweight solution for locally viewing desktops. We used it to remote in to a client running Windows for development purposes.

  ### 4. easy to use and simple

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 27, 2018

**What do you like best about TightVNC?**

This software is very easy to use and simple.

**What do you dislike about TightVNC?**

It should be more user friendly such as teamviewer

**Recommendations to others considering TightVNC:**

Okay to use and cheaper than teamviewer

**What problems is TightVNC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This software is very easy to use and simple.

  ### 5. TightVNC gets the job done

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2018

**What do you like best about TightVNC?**

TightVNC is a great program, but very basic. If you just want to connect and use it, then this program will do it, but don't expect much more.

**What do you dislike about TightVNC?**

I would have liked more features to play with.

**What problems is TightVNC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allowed us to connect to work servers to do job from home. Super helpful when you need just one thing.
