## Thunderbird Reviews
  ### 1. Integrated, Available, and Convenient

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gordon M. | Senior Computing Specialist, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2017

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

Thunderbird handles communication and collaboration tasks in one well integrated application, and it's available on all of the major desktop operating systems, which minimizes the amount of documentation that I need to write for the users I support.

My wife recently switched to Thunderbird after using competing applications from Microsoft on her older laptop, and Apple on her new one. She found Thunderbird significantly easier to use than the other options.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

I honestly don't have any complaints about Thunderbird.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Thunderbird provides our users with convenient access to email for communication and shared calendars and address books for scheduling and collaboration.

  ### 2. Great email client, especially with extensions

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

I have multiple email accounts, both personal and business, and Thunderbird allows me to easily work with all of them at once, including accounts hosted on Gmail servers. The extensions make it even more powerful.

Some of my favorite extensions/add-ons:
- Google Calendar Tab
- Change Quote and Reply Format
- Keyconfig
- Quicktext

and more!

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

I'd love to have one line for "To:" recipients, one for "CC:" recipients, etc. Thunderbird has one line for each recipient, which gives great control for being able to change each one from To: to CC:, but I'd prefer to have all for each type on the same line. I requested this MANY years ago, pointing out that just about every other email client in the world did it that way, and was essentially told "That may be, but we do it differently."

There have also been a couple of other areas where I (and others) have made suggestions, and the response from the dev team was either non-existent or something along the lines of what I said above.

Biggest problem -- it's no longer under active development. However I still use it because it's best for the way I work.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy organization of multiple email accounts, simplified management of accounts.

  ### 3. Better than the default client

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Russell H. | Owner, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

It has more flexibility than that the default windows 10 email client. Of course you can use add-ons and customize similar to Firefox.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

I wish it was a sit cleaner and more minimal. I like the tabs but opening a new tab for every email search and click can quickly clutter your inbox.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

For me it was between Window's 10 client and Thunderbird. The windows 10 client was a bit more User friendly, but lacked some key features that were important to me. If you need more features. Thunderbird is the way to go.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This lets me easily manage multiple email accounts. The main feature I like to use which the default client does not have is the ability to archive. It's important for me to store messages with out removing them altogether while also keep my inbox clean.

  ### 4. Stealng Thundebird's Thunder

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Environmental Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 11, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

The part that I kike the most about Thunderbird is the fact that it is free. Microsoft staff at the Microsoft store put Thunderbird on my computer and so the set-up and the connection with Microsoft made for an easy transition for the software to get loaded on my computer

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

There are a lot of things I do not like about Thunderbird unfortunately and I prefer Outlook much more.
I do not ilke the searching function of Thunderbird. I need to retype my password into my account frequently and it gets annoying when sending time sensative email (e.g. boarding a plane, typing emails on the go, etc). I loose a lot of draft and final emails on Thunderbird. I have no idea where the emails go but I have to BCC myself on every email I write to make 100% certain the emails successfully send. I am not going to hold back here but I LOATHE Thunderbird (DON'T DO IT). It gives me heart palpitations and headaches around the amount of emails that seem to "disappear". If it were my choice I would reload Outlook but the Microsoft people cannot seem to do it and without my permission they pushed me into Thunderbird.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

DO NOT USE THUNDERBIRD. PERIOD. YOU WILL REGRET. This is the most honest review I have ever written but I really hate using Thunderbird.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My business is solving the problem of a lack of capital for businesses conserving water, energy, or forests. My company uses Thunderbird to send and received emails. My company has not realized any benefit to using Thunderbird. My company has reaped the benefits of government grants for projects.

* This question is confusing. Is this question about what business problems have been solved with Thunderbird or what problems has my business solved? Is the second question asking what benefits have I realized for my clients or what benefits have I realized using Thunderbird?

  ### 5. Thunderbird at Work

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex P. | GIS Supervisor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

Thunderbird is a sleek, well put together app that benefits anyone with a high email load. I love the notifications, I love the customization, and most importantly, I love the flow of the app. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

I don't really have anything that I dislike. The only problem I had was after an update the default formatting went to double spaced instead of single spaced.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

I know thunderbird and firefox are working together but please let us use google!

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am on several mailing lists which could clog up my inbox. The filter tools help a ton. I've also managed to store several emails conveniently on my PC. Obviously other email apps can do this but the price (FREE!) that thunderbird does it rival other apps.

  ### 6. Sufficient for our needs

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Motion Pictures and Film | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

I like how modular and customizable the layouts are. Using tabs like in Firefox feels familiar and saves on screen real estate. The preview panel is useful for viewing new/existing emails quickly and loads quickly. There is a separate online service for dealing with large attachments which has proved useful.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

I have some issues with the inaccuracy of the junk mail filter. Oftentimes relevant company emails seem to be considered junk, and after marking "not junk", the accuracy has not improved. This is not a huge issue, as the junk mail notifier is fairly small and unintrusive, but it would be great if it could be fixed in an upcoming version.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

This is a great product, and seems to be the best alternative for businesses looking for a Linux mail client based on our experience and research. We have very few complaints, and our staff love using it as well.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We found improved communication among team members after switching to Thunderbird. Since the software works reliably and has an attractive interface, our users are less reluctant to use the email system to communicate. And by switching to email as the primary means of communications, important information is archived and accessible much more readily than when information was passed along in person.

  ### 7. Great free software

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris D. | Production Manager, Building Materials, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2017

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

Free software, nice to not have to use browser to check emails

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

User interface is very minimal and basic.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communication with customers

  ### 8. Best open source mail client

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrea S. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2017

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

Very easy to use. Can manage big archives with no problen.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

Automatic account configuration do not work in many cases

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I manage more than 10 accouts, many calendars both local than on internet

  ### 9. No fuss when all you want to do is read your email.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin B. | ITIC, Public Safety, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

I'm a big fan of programs that just do what I want them to do, simply and easily. I don't have to worry about silly search engines, intrusive ads, or slow start times. I can read, sort, and manage my messages without any problem.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

There's not much to dislike. At most, I would like the option to be able to go in and personalize the display a bit, but I don't really care too much about it, as long as the program works.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

nothing to recommend. Just use it if you need something simple and easy to do your work in.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Wasting time on emails can be annoying. I can do what I need to, simply and easily. What more do you need?

  ### 10. Thunderbird is very innovative.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 03, 2017

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

I like how Thunderbird gives me a notification at the bottom of the screen whenever I get new messages. It keeps me informed.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

I would say I dislike how much spam I get sometimes.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None and one of the benefits I have realized are how you can access Thunderbird from anywhere.

  ### 11. Decent email platform/Calendar

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rebecca F. | Production Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

It is free, and I can sync company email up with a calendar we can all see.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

Appointment emails come in duplicate. Many times the calendar is slow to load and takes forever to jump ahead to a specific date.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

This is good if you want a low cost program for company emails and calendars.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Company calendar is accessed by all and can be viewed on the go.

  ### 12. Thunderbird has worked great for me

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

It's easy to add and configure multiple accounts and this is the main reason why I use thunderbird. I also have made good use of groups. Additionally formatting emails and adding attachments is very easy, and I like that thunderbird will remind me to add a file if it picks up on keywords in the body of an email.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

I feel like some features are useless to me, usually because they overlap with services I use like the calendar, tasks, and chat. Also I've had frequent issues on OSX configuring notifications - typically a notification pops up but the sender and often the inbox is incorrect. I'm sure there's a way to troubleshoot this but I haven't had the time, so it functions more as a general email notification.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

This is a great email client that's free, open-source and cross-platform. I have only used gmail's web interface and not other email programs, so I don't know how thunderbird compares - but I've been very satisfied so far.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest benefit to me was using configuring email groups for my various work projects.

  ### 13. Old, but Reliable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

It's easy to back up, and easy to manage dozens of accounts, and has an RSS feed reader built-in. It also has decent integration of calendaring. It also conforms to an older style of UI.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

The calendaring could be more like Google Calendar. The tasks list is OK, but doesn't show up on my phone. There are some occasional layout glitches when editing new mail.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

If you have multiple accounts, this is an easy way to download the emails for all of them.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retrieve mail, classify it, and back it up.

  ### 14. Thunderbird for your work mail

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Grace Stephanie M. | Animator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

Thunderbird can be used outside a web browser, so you can read mail while working on something different in your web browser. It's easy to read mail thanks to it's interface is super customizable. Also, you have chat and multiple mail boxes, so everything is in the same place. Attaching things is super easy, just drag them and they will appear in a box at the right, if you change your mind and want to eliminate them just click in the x and it's done. Also, you can enable notifications, so while you are working a little card at the botton of your screen will tell you you have new mail.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

It's kind of complicated to set up the first time. Also if you don't use Mozilla you will have to download and install the program. Attaching files at first is complicated because of the file is too big, you get an annoying notification. External mail will ask you for a confirmation to see the entire mail. Personalizing signature is not easy or beautiful. Pretty standard fonts and colors. Interface is boring and too serious for my taste.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

Be patien at first is seems unwelcoming, but it grows on you.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Usual work related mails and chat, Sending mail is fast and easy, it saves time and time is money. so i like that.

  ### 15. It's an OK alternatives to Microsoft Outlook.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

I don't have choice. It is the only option available for working emails. We don't have Microsoft Outlook. After using it, I think it is a good enough alternative Microsoft Outlook.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

Obviously, it is cheaper than Microsoft Outlook. It saves the company money.
But, eventually, Microsoft Outlook is the King. No one else can replace Microsoft Outlook.
No matter how sexy they are, all these alternatives are still unable to compete against Outlook.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

good enough to replace your company's Microsoft Outlook, if your company wants to save spending.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's an email client.

  ### 16. Great software, easy to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 25, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

What I do like best about thunderbird is it's simplicity. It doesn't have as many functionalities as Outlook and it's a plus for me. At lot less clutter and straight to the basic : emails.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

It may sound strange, but I found it's updated too often. I have to restart it often because of a new update and sometimes I can get lost when the change the interface.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

Since it's free, trying it and if you don't like it you can always change. Nothing to lose expect time!

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need a program to receive our email and we didn't want to subscribe to Office 365. Thunderbird is free, popular and still updated. It was perfect for us!

  ### 17. Great free email client.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Greg K. | Technical Support & Software Trainer, Translation and Localization, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

Thunderbird is a great free email client that allows me to connect to my work exchange email with ease.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

On occasion, Thunderbird starts using a huge amount of my system resources and freezes without any apparent reason. Restarting it typically corrects the issue.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

It's a great free email client that's easy to set up and has all the features you'll need. It even supports extensions, so you can customize it to work best for your personal situation.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work off-site from my office, so I use Thunderbird to receive my emails.

  ### 18. Thunderbird Email client is great for small Open source companies!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelsey S. | Director of Sales, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

I love the freedom to change and maintain Thunderbird how you want. You can add any theme that suits you, as well as customize the layout. For something that is technically "free" it is so beautiful and easy to use. We all rely on it here at our small software business.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

I really do not dislike too much about this Email client. I don't see the calendar sending out correct reminders enough, so I use Zimbra as an add on feature because it never fails me. Truly though, this isn't even a "bare bones" Email client, which you might think it would be since it is open source. It has pretty much everything you need!

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

Absolutely use this service! Not only is it a part of the open source community, but it is honestly so easy to use and pretty visually pleasing!

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a "free" email client that we could all use and customize. Paying for Outlook was not an option as a small start up.

  ### 19. The Go-to E-mail Client

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lee G. | Freelance Analysis, Design, and Developer pro bono, Sporting Goods, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

Open-source, security conscious, available on all platforms, and as configurable as you like.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

There is nothing I dislike about this product.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

Do it.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No cost to purchase, minimal cost in maintenance. Simle to use.

  ### 20. The best email client

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Miguel U. | Wordpress developer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

There many things that I like about Thunderbird, one is that let me open multiple accounts at the same time and manage a different identity for each of them. Also, since it uses some connection protocols, I save bandwith and works faster than any other email clint.

It's open source and maintained by Mozilla, so it's very secure and protects my privacy. Also, I like how I can extend its features with plugins, like Lighting to have a calendar, Enigmail to secure sign emails with just clicks, etc.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

Mozilla doesn't update it very frequently, also the UI seems a little bit old by now, it doesn't support Exchange protocol and doesn't have a mobile version.

When indexing multiple accounts at the same time, it might put your PC slow.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

I recommend you to sync the configuration folder using dropbox, so you can have your accounts and configuration synced across all operating systems.

Thunderbird is more than an email client, it also supports calendar and chats to comunicate with other people.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My main problem is that I have multiple email accounts and it takes a lot of time to move around each website's email client. With thunderbird I can review all my emails in a single application faster and very secure.

  ### 21. Thunderbird Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mental Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2017

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

Enjoy backing up email to help with any unforeseen incidents

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

Not having reminders to back up emails, as there are times where I have forgotten about it

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

handling day to day confidential information between health care practitioners and family members

  ### 22. Great app for email management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

It gives you direct access to your email settings and servers, there are options for everything from email signatures to port settings.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

It doesn't have the most intuitive tag system, I'll be honest when I say that I just haven't tried to figure it out because it seems like it's not easy to use.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's an email client, there aren't a lot of problems to have with it, but when I open up my own email server, there's no problems because I have access to every part of the client.

  ### 23. Probably the best crossplatform mail client

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Phil C. | Community Volunteer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2015

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

As title said , the fact that I can install it on any OS and feel home, no need to learn an other program and keep your old habits. Of course since it's free an libre open source software you can install it immediately without requesting an expense or just buying it. Other cool feature is enigmail plugin to sign or encrypt emails using PGP software.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

What I don't enjoy and specially on weak devices is the indexing service which can eat lot of your resources specially if you configured a gmail account where each tags is seen as an IMAP folder, so you can expect lot of time lost in indexing the same email in several places.

Other annoyance I will have to report, when using enigmail the passphrase popup is not getting focus so beware to not type secrets in your mail composition window.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

Ask your sys admin for SSL or TLS support to you sysadmin, and try to promote usage of GPG if you don't feel the need for using this now, later you might regret to not have tried before.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Portability, as long IMAP is supported by mail server (even exchange is providing IMAP support) anyone is able to use it , I makes sense to support it whatever this user's operating system is.

  ### 24. Thunderbird review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew H. | Project Coordinator, Construction, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

I really like the easy drag and drop email management. I sort my emails in a lot of different folders and Thunderbird does this very easily

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

Thunderbird is very slow to load sometimes. I have a lot of old emails that I need to keep and have easy access to. This causes Thunderbird to load very slowly. I have taken the suggested steps to improve this, which has helped but didn't completely solve the problem. The software is also laggy sometimes and has issues doing more than one thing at once (ie. receiving an email at the same time as I am filing an email.)

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

Allow for faster loading and quicker in use functionality.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I receive a lot of emails everyday and I need to file them efficiently for possible retrieval later on. Thunderbird is very good for this. It allows me to retrieve the email easily later on which saves a lot of time a hassle.

  ### 25. An almost satisfactory experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Environmental Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2016

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

Simplicity to use. Ability to filter messages in specific folders according to the sender.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

Memory usage. Slowing down of the PC when compacting Thunderbird folders.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keep track of every message and event planning.

  ### 26. The long, painstaking search for the perfect mail client may finally be over.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tyler W. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2015

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

My problem with working with Google, Microsoft and Apple (and even Amazon) products is that everybody tries to do everything. They all want their own cloud storage, contact system, email addresses, phones, music and pretty much everything else. This is extremely confusing for the everyday user who's trying to find the best product for what purpose (I use GMail, Microsoft Office, and iCloud instead of icloud mail, google docs, and OneDrive for example). I wish in our current tech world that there were industry standards that everybody uses for Office apps, cloud storage, music, news and everything else, instead of having to navigate the mass of services which makes everything so confusing. There's too many choices.

Thunderbird solves this problem for me when it comes to email. Thunderbird is extremely reliable. Its interface is simple and feels and operates much like Firefox so Firefox users will be very comfortable navigating it. The fact that it's made by Mozilla, a third party company means that it's intention is to sync with google, yahoo, and many other types of email accounts without pressuring you to sign up for their own. The calendar syncs nicely with my google calendar, and I can easily use my five email addresses (four gmail, one yahoo) with their client.

Thunderbird's infrastructure is easy to use. The subject headers are positioned so you can see the entirety of the subject so you know what you're opening instead of little snippets like Apple Mail. All the folders sync nicely and Thunderbird even has an add - on for contacts. Mozilla still has that innovative start - up feel to their company and are always so willing to receive feedback, so any potential bugs are likely to be addressed by developers.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

The calendar has some sync problems with Google Calenda and Contactsr. The names of the calendars and contact groups haven't properly synced across all my devices (iPhone 6+, Macbook air, and a Windows 10 Desktop I built).

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

Definitely recommend for personal use. Excellent & reliable email client if you don't care about looks or beauty of design.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having a reliable email client across both Windows and MacOS is very efficient. I like coming to one source on both machines for Mail, Contacts and Calendars. I hope Mozilla continues to iron out the bugs and improve on the layout while keeping the functionality steady.

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

Another great email program, probably the no ads is the best part of using this program

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

My main complaint would have to be with storage capacity. Since I email tons of photos daily, then it is difficult at times when attachments do not come through or fail while sending

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

Great for business and personal use, never have problems with this program

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My daily email client. Mainly used for communication purposes

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

Mozilla Thunderbird offers a range of options forusers without access to Microsoft Outlook. Mozilla Thunderbird is a fully featured, secure and very functional email and chat client plus RSS feed reader. It is a lightweight, responsive piece of software that works well. Designed to prevent viruses and stop junk mail.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

Thunderbird currently does not show related messages, sites, documents, posts, etc.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Able to sort and save important emails while not worrying about junk/spam mail getting through.

  ### 33. Thunderbird Mail

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joanne F. | Account Executive, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2014

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

This is a great programme to use if you have a Gmail account that isn't linked up to Outlook. It does almost exactly the same thing, and it's hassle free! It's very easy to sort through my emails. Attachments are displayed in a small grey bar at the bottom of the email window, so they are always visible, getting rid of the need to scroll to the bottom of email threads to find an attachment.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

You can't flag things as different colours! Furthermore, when you have checked emails but other emails come into your inbox, your notifications bar shows you past emails, which can sometimes panic me into thinking I haven't actioned them! There isn't much else I dislike.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

If nothing else, Thunderbird is certainly a good starter email software programme. It allows you to create sub-folders, create rules for auto-filing emails, and it's very easy to navigate.

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This is a much more convenient way of tracking emails than continually checking Gmail in my web browser, so it's improved communication for me.

  ### 34. Pretty nice email client, but acts enough like a browser that I'd just use the browser itself

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel L. | President and COO, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2013

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

It has the Mozilla look and feel and is very quick and easy to setup. It looks like a fairly secure offline email client.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

It looks so much like Firefox with the online Gmail client, that I just don't know precisely why I'd stick with Thunderbird. It doesn't have a killer feature that I could find that would be a compelling reason to use it primarily. It does not support importing from a PST file.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

I would say that you could try it, but I don't really know if it is something you will stick with.

  ### 35. Cross-Platform and Service Agnostic mail client

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven S. | Partner / Technology Expert / Website Developer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2013

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

I have email accounts with Gmail, Exchange, Google Apps (4 accounts), iCloud, my cable provider, and even "classic CompuServe". Thunderbird handles each of them flawlessly. In addition, it provides a single place where I can check and manage calendars for each of the services. I use it OS/X, Linux, and Windows.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

Searching can sometimes be slow.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

If you want the same user experience on multiple computer and you want all your email and calendars in one place, use Thunderbird.

  ### 36. Excellent email application for Apple computers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shane H. | Adjunct Faculty - Information Systems, E-Learning, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2013

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

The ease to add multiple email addresses.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

I don't dislike anything about Thunderbird.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

Excellent application!

**What problems is Thunderbird solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Email

  ### 37. Free, Fast, email client

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David S. | Senior Sales Representative - Service Management, Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2013

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

A free email client which is quick to install, and setup one or more email accounts. The interface is very user-friendly when i compare to windlows live mail for example.
Multiple add-ons available for greater customization and functionality.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

This is an open-source developed programme which makes the client prone to updates. The initial setup is very basic (however the add-ons make up for that).

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

If you are looking for a free email client you cant go wrong with this. Its ideal for personal usage but there is no support for Exchange which limits its potential. Instant messaging can be integrated, again, there is a large selection of add-ons.

  ### 38. It is a great solutions for not a very big problem

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael S. | Agency Manager, Insurance, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2013

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

I think the interface and integration works well. If you have multiple accounts with different email clients this is a great tool.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

I don't know very many people with many accounts through different email clients. Add accounts in Google does this same thing very well for me.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

If in doubt try it out.

  ### 39. Simple and clean email

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2013

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

The clean, simple interface is easy to use. You can quickly sort through emails and filter them as you read through the inbox.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

The program will crash or freeze with no warning or reason at times.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

I would recommend this program.

  ### 40. It's just not common and it's outdated

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2012

**What do you like best about Thunderbird?**

Thunderbird has limited options, so it's difficult to screw up.

**What do you dislike about Thunderbird?**

It's kind of older. Probably competes well with an Outlook 2000, or Lotus Notes style interface. It's had some upgrades, but unless you are a Netscape or Firefox lover from yesteryear, it's just not common enough to be a modern email program.

**Recommendations to others considering Thunderbird:**

It's not worth the time.
